Last time,
judges' homes began

and acts sang for their
place in the live finals.

Tonight, the remaining
acts sing for their survival.

And the judges decide their fate...

This is going to change
their lives.

Somebody has to go home.
This is the hardest decision

I have ever had to make.

Do you see a place for
her in the final four?

As must become .

I've made my decision.

It's time...
It's a difficult moment.

To face...
Only four can make it.

The music!

It's bad news. You didn't make it.

Welcome to The X factor and the
second instalment of judges' homes.

Tonight, the remaining acts face
their mentors as they battle for

a place in the final .

Last night, the remaining acts
were split into four categories...

boys under ,
girls under ,

over- s and groups.

They made their way across the globe
to one of the judges' homes,

where they met the judge who will
mentor them for the season.

The girls...
I'm going to sing in France.

How many girls my age can say that?

Whoa.

And Rachel, Tora, Simone, Drew,

Caitlin, Jazzlyn, Tiah

The over- s travelled

Just up the coast, the groups
travelled to Santa Barbara,

and the Stereo Hogzz,
the Brewer Boys, the Anser,

Squar'd, Illusion Confusion,
Shore,

Intensity, and Lakoda Rayne

met their mentor Paula Abdul.

And special guest Pharrell.

Aren't we lucky?

And the last eight boys
travelled to the Hamptons,

and Brennin, Nick, Chris, Brian,

Tim, Marcus, Skyelor and Phillip,
met their mentor LA Reid

And very special guest Rihanna.

Meet Rihanna.
Hi, guys, how are you?

Each judge hand-selected all
the songs for their acts

to perform to either a backing
track or with live instruments,

and with only half the acts

the competition was fierce.

I'm telling you.

I got the look.
I've had that look before.

It's just about
contemporizing her.

Yeah, that was a great song
for her, as well.

She's in her comfort
zone the whole time.

You've got to take her out that
comfort zone.

That would be my only issue.
Is whether she's going to sing

more contemporary songs and still
deliver in a contemporary style.

After the break,
it's the moment of truth.

This is going to change
their lives.

As the judges decide who's in
and who's out.

This is the hardest decision
I have ever had to make.

So she's out.
Definitely. Gone.

Welcome back to The X Factor.

All acts have now performed
at the judges' homes,

But only will be chosen to
go through to the live shows.

Now each judge must choose
just four of the eight

acts remaining in their
category to take through.

In France, Simon and
his team of industry

experts must choose the
fate of the girls.

In the Hamptons, LA and Rihanna must
choose the four boys to take through.

In Malibu, Nicole and Enrique
must make some hard decisions

about the over- s category.

And in Santa Barbara, it's
up to Paula and Pharrell

to decide which four groups are in
and which four are going home.

This is going to be our
challenge here.

This is going to be our challenge.

They all have very
special qualities.

It's just kinda like...
who's bringing

more to the table, you
know, at the time.

Cos that's how it is at
the end of the day, right?

This is going to change
their lives.

There's nothing left back
home for us,

and we just really hope that
the judges see our hard work

and see how we've progressed.

There are our eight.
Everybody can't stay.

Somebody has to go home.
I've got $ million on the line,

so the guys that we put
through had better measure up.

I agree.

If I'm told no, then it's
just back to work for me.

You know, this is my one true sh*t.

This is the hardest decision
I have ever had to make.

There's four people that go
through, right?

Only the best four can go through.

So... who was I moved by today?

Who was a star?

No, I didn't do as well
as I wanted to do, but...

I'm a perfectionist, so I...
never do as well as I want to.

I think we should start
with one person.

Do you see a place for her in
the final four?

She showed promise in the
auditions, but didn't deliver.

So she's out.
She's definitely out.

Right, gone. Sorry, sweetheart.

Half of us, he has to let go.
Hopefully it's not me.

There are two groups that
you guys put together.

Yes. I think that one
fared the best.

We want to be % confident.
Was that the $ million performance?

I mean, we'd like to think so.

I think this may be the hardest one.

Yeah. And he's talented.

But I just think he's
a little green.

Yeah, he is. He's going home.

You know what this could do
for my family?

Everything I could have possibly
dreamed of

is in their hands right now.

I hope I've done enough.
I really want to go through.

I really don't want to go home.

This girl needs a lot of work.
She was slightly off-colour today.

It was like she'd lost her
confidence.

I would not want this to be over.

This is the dream.

I'm just real nervous.
Maybe I'm not what Simon's looking for.

I'm just hoping that I am part
of his decision.

I don't think she's
the best singer,

but she's the one I am
totally, utterly glued to.

I just need this chance.

I just really hope Simon sees that.

I love this guy.
You want to root for him,

but do I think he can win this
competition?

I'm not convinced right now.

Everything's on the line for me.

I'm just really hoping that what
they saw in me was enough.

This one here is...
That hurts me.

Cos there is some serious talent.
In that group.

There's a lot of good groups.
You want to seem real confident.

It could mean the world or it
could, like, all go away so quick.

They did not raise their game
enough. I say no.

It'll be really hard if they
say that we're not making it.

This is what we really want.

You know, like, we really
want this really bad.

We're down to these two.
That is really hard.

I like different things about
both of them.

Unfortunately,
we can't have five.

We can only have four. That's hard.

It would be something else if
this wasn't their last chance.

But I feel like we have, like,
their lives in our hands.

I handed them my heart, so...
hopefully they love it.

I hope that this decision here
is the right one.

You dream about this for
so long and then

you're given this enormous
opportunity and you're here.

And now it just comes to this
precipice where you're like,

"What's going to happen?"

One yes left. It's so easy
to go with this girl

and just say this
is too hard, but I can't.

This is the one we can make into
a better artist, I guarantee.

I can feel it.
It's a big risk.

I know it is, but I like
taking risks sometimes.

I hope that he chooses me as
one of his four.

I'm going with this one.

I think that's it.
I've made my decision.

I think I've made the decision.

This is the one everyone
thought was going

to get a yes, and
we've just said no.

It's a hard one.
I didn't do that.

This tuesday

It's decision time

It's horrible all this,
isn't it?

I'm having a tough day

Who is in?

I'm struggling with this.

And who is out

It's bad news

As the finals are revealed

I've made my decision

I went back and forth
all night.

I'm not able to take
you to the live show

I'm really genuinely sorry

That's the X Factor

This Tuesday at / c

... just been there , you know ...
