01x13 - Thomas, Terence and the Snow

Post by bunniefuu »

Autumn had come to Sodor.

The fields were changing
from yellow to brown

and a tractor was hard at work.

Later, Thomas saw the tractor close by.

"Hello. l'm Terence, l am ploughing."

"l'm Thomas.
What ugly wheels you have."

"They're caterpillars.
l can go anywhere. l don't need rails."

"l don't want to go anywhere,"
said Thomas, "l like my rails."

Winter came with clouds full of snow.

"A heavy fall is coming," said the driver.
"l hope it doesn't stop us."

"Ha! Soft stuff, nothing to it."

They finished their journey
but by now the country was covered.

"You'll need your snowplough now."

"Ha! Snow is soft, it won't stop me!"

A snowplough was uncomfortable
and made Thomas cross.

He shook it and banged it

and it was so damaged
that the driver had to take it off.

"You're a very naughty engine."

Next morning, Thomas' driver
worked hard to mend the snowplough

but they couldn't make it fit.

Thomas was pleased.
"l shan't have to wear it!" he puffed.

"l hope it's all right,"
Annie and Clarabel whispered.

The driver was worried.

"lt's not bad here," he said,
"but it's sure to be deep in the valley."

"Silly soft stuff," puffed Thomas.

"l didn't need that stupid thing yesterday
and l shan't today."

He rushed into a tunnel
thinking how clever he was.

"Cinders and ashes! l'm stuck."

"Back, Thomas," said his driver.

Thomas tried but he couldn't move.

People tried to dig the snow away

but as they dug, more snow
slipped down until Thomas was buried!

"Oh! l shall have to stop here
till l'm frozen."

And Thomas began to cry.

A bus came to rescue the passengers

and then who should come to
Thomas' rescue but Terence!

He pulled the coaches away
then came back for Thomas.

Thomas' wheels spun
when he tried to move.

Terrence tugged and slipped
and at last dragged Thomas clear.

"Thank you, Terence.
Your caterpillars are splendid."

"l hope you'll be sensible now,
Thomas," said his driver.

"l'll try," said Thomas.
