02x03 - Bertie's Chase

Post by bunniefuu »

Edward was waiting to pick up
Thomas's passengers.

"We're late! Where is Thomas?"

“Oh dear, what can the matter be?”
sang the fireman.

“Just climb on the cab
and look for Thomas,” said the driver.

“Can you see him?”
"No," replied the fireman.

“There's Bertie Bus in a tearing hurry.
He's probably on a coach tour.”

- He clambered down.
- (Whistles)

(Bertie honks) "Stop! Stop!
I've got Thomas's passengers!"

But Edward was gone.
"Bother!" said Bertie.

“Bother Thomas's fireman not coming
to work. Why did I help the passengers?"

“That will do, Bertie,” said his driver.

“A promise is a promise
and we must keep it.”

“I'll catch Edward or bust!" said Bertie.

“Oh, my gears and axles!
I'll never be the same bus again.

“Hooray, hooray, I see him!"
cheered Bertie.

“Oh, no! Edward's at the station!
No! He's at a crossing.

“Hooray!” Bertie tore down the hill.
“Well done!" shouted his passengers.

Bertie skidded into the yard. "Wait!"

He watched Edward puff away.

“I'm sorry,” said Bertie. "Never mind,”
said the passengers. "After him!"

“Can we catch him, driver?"
“There's a good chance.

“We can climb hills better than Edward.
I'll just make sure.”

He spoke to the stationmaster.

“We'll do it this time,” said the driver.

“Hooray!” called the passengers,
as Bertie chased Edward.

(Honks horn)

(Whistles)

(Tyres squeal)

“This hill is too steep, this hill is too
steep," grumbled Edward's coaches.

They reached the top
and ran smoothly into the station.

“Get in quickly!" whistled Edward.

The guard blew the whistle
but the flag didn't wave.

- (Honking)
- Then he heard Bertie.

The stationmaster told the guard
and driver what had happened.

“Sorry about the chase.”

(Panting) “My fault. I was late. You didn't
know about Thomas's passengers.”

“Goodbye!” whistled Edward. "Three
cheers for Bertie!" called the passengers.

Bertie raced back to tell Thomas
that all was well.

(Honking)

“Thank you, Bertie.
You're a friend indeed,” said Thomas.
