02x18 - Thomas Comes to Breakfast

Post by bunniefuu »

Thomas has worked his branch line
for years and knows it well.

(Whistling)

“You know just where to stop.
You could manage it without me."

Thomas didn't realise
his driver was joking.

He boasted to the others.
“Driver says I don't need him."

"Don't be so daft."

“I'd never go without a driver.
I'd be frightened.”

“I'm not scared.”
“You'd never dare."

"I would. You'll see.”

Next day the fire lighter came.
Thomas drowsed.

He warmed his boiler.
Percy and Toby slept.

Thomas remembered.

“Stick-in-the-muds.
Driver said I could manage without him.

“I'll go out and wheesh.
That'll make them jump.”

But Thomas was only moving because
a cleaner had meddled with his controls.

He tried to wheesh, but he couldn't.

He tried to stop, but he couldn't.
He kept rolling along.

What was next?
The stationmaster's house!

He was about to have breakfast.
“Horrors,” cried Thomas.

He shut his eyes. Broken glass tinkled.

Plaster was everywhere.

Thomas peered into
the room through a bush.

He couldn't speak.
The stationmaster was furious.

His wife said, “You miserable engine.
Look at our breakfast.

“Now I shall have to cook more."

More plaster fell on Thomas.

Thomas felt depressed.

Workmen propped up the house
and laid rails through the garden.

Donald and Douglas arrived.

“We'll soon have you back on the rails,"
they laughed.

Donald and Douglas
hauled Thomas back to safety.

Fencing, the bush and a window frame
festooned his front, which was twisted.

The twins laughed and left.

Thomas was in disgrace.

Worse was to come.

“You are a naughty engine.”

“Sorry.” Thomas's voice
was muffled behind his bush.

“Go to the works
and have your front mended.

“A diesel car will do your work.”
“A diesel, sir?"

“Diesels stay in their sheds
till they are wanted.

“They never go for breakfast
in stationmasters' houses."
