[laughter]

- Whoo-hoo!

[slo-mo whooshing]

[upbeat music]

Hello!

Have you ever seen a dragon?

When I went to China,

I saw one!

Don't believe me?

Watch and see.

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure!

[Thomas narrating]

I was working

on the Chinese Railway

with my friend Yong Bao,

just in time

for the Spring Festival.

Wow!

Look at all the flowers

on the trees!

- That's right, Thomas.

It's peach blossom time.

You're so lucky to be here

in China for the New Year!

- But I thought New Year

was a winter festival

when the trees are all bare.

[puffs]

- Not in China!

[chuckles]

- [sputters]

Where did he go?

Wait for me, Yong Bao!

- [chuckling]

- [laughs] Oh!

What are they carrying?

- Those are lanterns

for the New Year celebrations.

We have a big party!

I love New Year!

And do you know

what the best part is?

[echoing]

It's the dragon!

- The what?

[whistle toots]

- Hey, Yong Bao! Did you say

what I think you said?

What is the best

part of the New Year?

- Oh, the best part of all

is...

[horn blares]

the dragon!

- I still didn't hear you!

What did you say?

- [giggles]

Thomas! The dragon!

[coal rumbling]

- [coughing]

- Sorry, I still didn't

hear you.

- The dragon, Thomas.

I said the dragon!

- Dragon!

[dramatic music]

- That's right, Thomas!

Usually I take the dragon

to the big square.

But as you're a guest

on our railway,

I think you should have

the honor.

- [gasps] Me?

Take the dragon?

But..but...

don't dragons breathe out

smoke and, uh, fire?

[roaring]

[whistle blows, steam hisses]

The more I thought about

the dragon,

the more I started to worry

that there might be one

around every corner...

- Boo!

- Ahh!

- [chuckles]

See you later, Thomas.

[whistle blows]

[growling]

- [gasps] What's that?

[gasps]

A dragon! No!

[chicken clucks]

[clucks]

- [laughs]

Oh, you're not a dragon.

- What dragon?

- A talking chicken?

- [giggles]

What did you say?

[whistle toots]

- Oh, Hong Mei!

I thought--

Oh dear. Yong Bao wants me

to take a dragon

to the New Year party!

- Ah, wow!

That is amazing!

The dragon is big and noisy!

You're so lucky!

- I didn't feel lucky!

I couldn't stop worrying

about the dragon!

I imagined something

big and loud and scary.

[eerie music]

♪ ♪

[dramatic percussive music]

Oh! [whimpers]

♪ ♪

Ah!

♪ ♪

Ohh! Ahh!

Ah! Whoa!

Cinders and ashes!

- Thomas?

Boo!

- Ah!

[groans]

- What is it, Thomas?

What's wrong?

- I really, really don't want

to pull the dragon.

- What? But--

- Thank you.

I'm sure it is a big honor.

But will you pull

the dragon, Yong Bao?

- Oh, okay.

I guess I can take the dragon.

And you can take the lion!

- Oh, okay. Thanks.

Lion? What lion?

[clanking, horn toots]

[cheery music]

Phew! I'm glad I'm pulling you,

An-An and Yin-Long

I guess I don't have to

take the lion after all!

[together]

Oh, yes, you do, Thomas!

- [gulps]

[indistinct chatter]

Oh!

[door slams]

[whistle trills]

[horn toots]

I picked up some passengers

and continued on my way,

but I still didn't see a lion.

When I arrived

at the town square,

I felt relieved.

Wow!

This New Year party is amazing!

♪ ♪

Oh, by the way, sorry.

I didn't bring the lion.

[both giggle]

- Thomas,

but you did bring the lion!

- Huh?

[dramatic musical flourish]

[gasps]

[children cheering]

That's the lion?

♪ ♪

It's just people

dressed up.

- Yes! And look!

He eats the lettuce

and scatters the leaves

for good luck.

- Look! Here comes the dragon!

- [gasps] Oh, no!

Not the dragon!

[gasps]

[gasps]

- Wow!

- Oh!

It's not a real dragon.

- No, of course not, Thomas.

What did you think?

- [laughs]

Oh, nothing.

[children cheering]

Wow! The dragon is great!

I love it!

- That's what I was trying to

tell you Thomas!

The best thing

about New Year is...

[fireworks popping]

All: The dragon!

[laughter]

[fireworks popping

and whistling]

- Wow!

- Ah!

- Xinnián kuàilè, Thomas!

- What does that mean?

- It means...

All: Happy New Year, Thomas!

- Happy New Year, everyone!

[chicken clucking]

[bell tolling]

[whistle toots]

Do you ever get scared?

Sometimes, when I get scared,

I imagine all sorts of things.

[steam hissing]

One time,

Marion saw some dinosaurs

and got very frightened.

She thought

they were chasing her!

But then she found out that

they weren't real dinosaurs

and she wasn't afraid anymore.

I also got scared when

I thought I was going to see

a real dragon in China!

And I was really afraid!

But it turned out to be

something fun!

It was just people dancing and

carrying a big puppet dragon.

And I loved it!

[steam hissing]

Sometimes I get scared

of things I don't need

to be scared of.

So next time you feel scared

about something,

talk to someone.

And maybe it won't be

so scary after all!

[whistle trills]

- Come on, Thomas!

- It's time to go!

- See you next time!

[whistle toots]

[upbeat music]

[whistle toots]

- Come on!

Yeah!

Let's go!

Yeah!
