new friendly faces ♪

just a train ride away ♪

all: ♪ Big world,

Big World! Big Adventures!" ♪

[laughter]

[upbeat music]

♪ ♪

- Whoo-hoo!

[distorted thrumming]

[music resumes]

♪ ♪

- Have you heard the saying

"There's no business

like show business"?

Well, when I worked in India,

I was going

about my business when--

[chuckles] Hey, I'm not going

to spoil the ending.

You'll have to watch and see.

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure.

♪ ♪

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

- Lights!

Camera!

[film whirring]

[Thomas narrating]

- Action!

[light music]

- [inhales]

How I love

the smell of steam...

♪ In the morning ♪

[sighs]

[Bollywood music playing]

- [singing in native language]

♪ ♪

- And cut!

[high-pitched squeal,

applause]

[whistle toots]

- Wow,

that dancing was amazing.

- Can you believe they're

filming a Bollywood movie

on the Indian Railway?

It's so exciting.

- Yeah, so exciting.

A film about Bollywood.

What's a Bollywood?

- [giggles]

In America they have Hollywood,

so in India we have Bollywood.

It's just another name

for the Indian movie industry.

[whistle toots]

- And this one's going to be

an action movie.

both: Wow!

- And...

[clears throat]

Guess who is going to be

in one of the action scenes?

Okay, fine.

I'll tell you.

Me!

Oh, hello.

- Good morning, Thomas.

- Huh?

This is the director

of our Bollywood movie.

- Nice to meet you,

Mr. Director.

- Likewise.

I have an important role

for an engine like you.

- What?

- [gasps]

- A role in the movie for me?

- Ah, it's not actually

in the movie, Thomas.

Your role is to deliver

the lead actor to the film set.

- I love the smell of steam

in the morning.

- [sighs]

- [chuckles]

See you on set, Thomas.

- Yes.

See you on set, Thomas.

[whistle toots]

- [grunts]

[cheers and applause]

- Oh, wow.

They love me.

[light music]

- [laughs]

Try to smile, Thomas.

And if you can't,

then just pretend to be happy.

It's called acting.

It's what we stars do

all the time.

- [laughs awkwardly]

♪ ♪

[whistle toots]

It was hard work

pretending to be happy.

Wow, that looks just like

the real Taj Mahal.

- Pretty special, isn't it?

This is a movie set, Thomas.

It's where dreams come true.

- [sighs]

I just wish I was in one.

[exciting music]

announcer:

In a world...

full of confusion and delay...

♪ ♪

Only one engine...

- [grunts]

announcer: Can save the day.

- [grunts]

♪ ♪

- [exhales] Ah!

- [gasps]

Thomas the t*nk engine,

you're a hero.

- I'm just being really useful,

ma'am.

announcer:

Thomas the t*nk engine is

Big Hero .

Coming to a theater near you.

[record scratches]

- [sighs]

[whistle toots]

- Cheer up, Thomas.

I guess we can't

all be action heroes.

- Oh, have they taken you

off the movie now, Rajiv?

- No!

Of course, not.

- Then why are you

delivering cars?

- I'm not really

delivering cars.

I-I'm acting.

[whistle toots]

It's movie talk.

You wouldn't understand.

- Ah, Thomas.

I've got another job for you.

- So I wasn't in the movie,

but I did enjoy

helping on set.

It was fun

and it felt good to be busy.

Unlike someone I knew.

[whistle toots]

Rajiv, have you filmed

your scene yet?

- No, still waiting.

- Thomas!

I need more flowers.

- Sorry, Rajiv, gotta dash.

[whistle toots]

I've got lots

of really useful jobs to do.

♪ ♪

But when I returned

with the flowers,

everyone was gone.

[tense music]

♪ ♪

[whistle toots]

Hey Rajiv.

[exciting music]

♪ ♪

- [grunts]

- [gasps]

What's he doing?

- [grunting]

[laughs, grunts]

- Oh, no.

I've got to help him.

[grunts]

- Thomas, no!

- Whoa...

[dramatic music]

[distorted voice]

Whoa...

♪ ♪

[grunts]

- Cut!

- What are you doing, Thomas?

- Well, you were falling,

so I--

- I was supposed to fall.

It's part of the film.

- [sputters, stammers]

You could have been hurt.

- No, I wouldn't.

I was planning on landing

on a soft, bouncy crash mat.

Not a car full of flowers!

[sneezes]

- Oh.

Oh, dear.

I'm sorry.

[whistle toots]

Sorry for ruining

your big action scene, Rajiv.

- But you were amazing, Thomas!

A real-life hero

coming to the rescue.

- Rajiv is right, Thomas.

In fact, I'm going to keep

your heroic rescue scene

in the film.

- You are?

[gasps]

- Looks like your wish

came true, Thomas.

You are a movie star after all.

- [chuckles]

If you say so, Rajiv,

but I'm not sure

I wanna be a star anymore.

I'm not very good

at pretending

or waiting around all day

doing nothing.

[cheers and applause]

- Huh?

[upbeat music]

- I'm his friend.

I taught him

everything he knows.

- Smile, Thomas!

[bell tolling,

engine chugging]

[whistle toots]

- Have you ever thought

about being a hero?

Heroes aren't just

in the movies.

Heroes can be anyone

who does something good

to help somebody else.

[steam hisses]

Like Philip.

When James almost

fell off a bridge,

it was Philip

who came to his rescue,

And Stephen once

risked his own safety

to stop Gordon from

going over a broken bridge.

And when I thought

I was rescuing the actor,

I wasn't trying

to be an action hero,

I was just trying

to keep the actor safe.

[steam hisses]

You don't need to be in a film

to be a hero.

You just need

to help somebody in need.

Maybe you'll be a hero one day.

Maybe you already are.

[whistle blows]

- Come on, Thomas!

- It's time to go.

- See you next time!

[whistle toots]

[upbeat music flourish]

[lilting music]

[whistle toots]

- Come on!

- Yeah!

- Let's go!

- Yeah!

- Come on!

[laughter]

[monkeys chatter]

[steam hisses]

[upbeat music]

man: ♪ Let's go, go, go ♪

♪ On a big-world adventure ♪

♪ The world's

just a train ride away ♪

all: ♪ Big world,

big, big adventures ♪
