[laughter]

- Whoo-hoo!

♪ ♪

There have been many mysteries

on the island of Sodor.

But nothing as curious as the

story you're about to see.

Keep a look out for clues,

and maybe you can solve the

mystery before Paxton

and Sidney.

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure!

♪ ♪

[jazzy music]

[Thomas narrating]

♪ ♪

- [yawns]

- Ooh, hello, Dart.

- Hello again, Sidney.

Where's your flatbed?

- Oh! I knew I went in there

for something.

Hello, Dart.

- The flatbed, Sidney.

- Oh, right.

Now, what did I come in here

for again?

- Your flatbed!

- Oh, yeah.

Ever since Diesel bumped

into me

this morning

and jangled my parts,

I've been even more forgetful

than usual.

I know this flatbed of parts is

important...

[giggles]

But I can't remember what I'm

supposed to do with it.

- [gasps]

It's a mystery!

I love a mystery!

[gasps] Imagine us

as special agents.

- Agents?

- You know. Like, detectives.

- Ohh.

- Just think of it...

[mystical music]

Hmm...

[ding]

Oh.

[steam hisses]

[mystical music]

Paxton and Sidney:

detectives,

investigators,

two brilliant minds working

together--

looking out for clues,

hot on the trail,

determined to crack the case

and solve the mystery.

- Special agents?

That sounds amazing!

- Yes.

What a pity I'm too busy

to help.

I've got so many jobs to do.

Bye!

- Wait!

What about the mystery?

What about these parts?

Maybe I'm meant to be working

with you, and I just forgot.

- Who knows?

It's a mystery.

But stick with me,

Special Agent Sidney.

- So Paxton and Sidney set off

to solve

the case

of the puzzling parts.

[metal clanks]

[horn honks]

- Here's some scrap for you,

Reg.

- Thanks, Paxton.

- What about this, Reg?

Does this look like scrap?

- No, Sidney, those look like

brand-new engine parts.

[ding]

- Did you hear that,

Special Agent Sidney?

Reg thinks those parts

look brand-new.

Do you know what that is?

- Uh...

- It's a clue!

- [gasps] A clue?

- Clues are the things

we see or hear

that will help us crack the

case and solve the mystery.

- [chuckles] Oh, yes.

[jaunty music]

- Remember,

Special Agent Sidney,

you've got to look out

for clues.

- Oh, yeah.

[gasps]

Is that a clue?

- Sidney!

Look out!

- Huh?

[whistle toots]

[dramatic music]

[screw clatters]

- Whoa, Sidney.

- Thomas! Hello.

Are you missing

some brand-new parts?

- No, those look like

diesel parts to me, Sidney.

And, by the way...

[whistle toots]

You're on the wrong track.

- Diesel parts,

Special Agent Sidney.

Do you know what that is?

- Oh, um...

- A clue!

- Ohh.

- Now we just have to work out

which diesel they're for.

- Wait for me!

[jazzy music]

♪ ♪

[horn honks]

[muted honking]

- Ooh. That's a funny sound.

I wonder what's wrong

with my horn.

- Never mind that,

Special Agent Sidney.

We're on a case!

- Hi, Paxton.

What's Sidney doing here?

- We're solving a mystery,

Whiff.

- [gasps] Maybe that's a clue.

[garbage gushing]

Huh?

[gasps]

Uh-oh.

Oh.

That clue was

a load of rubbish.

[chuckles]

Get it?

- Special Agents Paxton

and Sidney

left the waste dump

none the wiser,

but a little bit whiffier.

- I've got to take these empty

cars to the Quarry now,

Special Agent Sidney.

Remember to keep

your eyes peeled for...

[smoke poofs]

[coughs]

Clues.

[coughs]

- Hello, Paxton.

Why is Sidney here with you?

- We're supposed to be solving

the case of the puzzling parts.

Sidney's looking for clues.

- Ooh. I wonder what's in here.

There might be a clue.

[mysterious music]

Oh, no.

Now I've broken down.

I wasn't expecting that.

It's very dark in here.

Better use my lamp.

[lamp buzzes]

Oh!

I wonder what happened

to my lamp.

[horn honks]

Uh-oh.

- Hello?

Sidney?

Are you--

[muted honking]

Oh!

♪ ♪

Sidney, I'm so sorry.

I couldn't see you

in the tunnel.

You didn't have any lights on.

[metal clatters]

- I know.

I'm not having a very good day.

First, Diesel bumps me

and jangles my parts,

and now you bump me

and my buffer falls off and...

Wait!

Hey, you solved the mystery.

- I did?

- Yes!

These parts must be for Diesel.

- Or...

maybe they could be for you,

Special Agent Sidney.

- For me?

[coughs] Why?

- Well, your horn isn't

working;

you're coughing black smoke;

your buffer fell off;

and you seem

to have lost your lights.

- Ahh!

Mystery solved!

- [laughs] Yes!

You'd better get back

to the diesel works

and get yourself

fixed up.

- Right!

Oh, uh, just one more thing.

Now that I've broken down,

I don't know how I'm going

to get there.

- [gasps]

Another mystery!

No, wait.

Actually, I can just tow you

to the diesel works.

- Oh, yeah.

[jazzy music]

[bell ringing]

[train engine chugging]

[whistle toots]

- Have you ever solved

a mystery?

Perhaps you had to keep

an eye out for clues.

And maybe someone came along

to help you.

Once, Bill and Ben sent

Timothy all over the island

to fetch

a rainbow-colored car.

But just when he realized

they were teasing him,

Salty helped him find one

anyway.

When Sidney forgot what

he was supposed to be doing

with his flatbed of parts,

Paxton stepped in to help.

They followed the clues,

and together they solved

the mystery:

the parts were for Sidney!

Sometimes, when you've

got a problem to solve,

it helps to do it together

with a friend.

Together, you can make it fun.

- Come on, Thomas.

- It's time to go.

- See you next time.

[whistle toots]

[upbeat music]

[children singing]

[whistle toots]

[whistle chirps]

[whistle toots]
