This is not what it looks like.

[Jack scoffs]

Really? 'Cause it looks like
you're selling dr*gs out of my trailer.

- No, no, please, let me... let me explain.
- I don't wanna hear it.

- Save it for the police.
- Listen to me, Jack! Jack!

- Okay, you cannot call the cops.
- Really? Watch me.

[car approaching]

[Brady] Crap.

[exhales] You have to trust me.
I am on your side.

How the hell do you expect me
to believe a single thing...

I am not the bad guy here, okay?

Melissa is.

What?

Mike and I are working together
to take her down.

- What the hell are you talking about?
- Look.

I swear to God,
I will tell you everything.

But if you don't let me go outside
and talk to Melissa right now,

we are both dead.

[menacing music continues]

[car doors closing]

[trailer door opens]

[door closes]

[Brady] Hey. What are you...
What are you doing here? It's so late.

- I was, uh... I just setting up the, uh...
- Cut the crap, Brady.

- [Brady] No! Hey!
- [man mutters]

- [Brady grunts]

- [Jack on phone] Mike, they've got Brady.
- Who's got Brady?

[Jack] My business partner,
Melissa Montgomery.

Brady said he's working with you.
What the hell's going on, man?

Okay, listen to me.
Melissa and her people are very dangerous.

Are you following them?

They're headed southwest
on Walker Road towards Garberville.

All right, I'm on my way.
Stay with the SUV, but do not engage.

- Do you understand me?
- Yeah, copy that.

[Mike] All right.
I'm bringing the cavalry.

[Melissa] You know, Daniel,
there's a famous quote I come back to

time and time again in this line of work.

"When someone shows you who they are,
believe them."

I'll spare you the suspense.

Your life ends tonight.

But if you tell us what your cop friends
know about our operation,

I'll make it quick.

[spits]

[groans]

[Melissa] You continue to disappoint me.

It didn't have to be like this, Daniel.
Now, tell me who you're working with.

I ain't telling you sh*t.
You're wasting your time.

You're right. You are wasting my time.

Make sure it hurts.

they depress the hell out of me. [laughs]

It's just easier to skip that part
and end on a fun memory, you know?

Yeah. Yeah, I know what you mean.

Well, let's make a pact.

Every time I ship out,
let's not make a big deal about it.

Okay? It'll make it normal. Like I...

Like you're going to work for the day...
instead of a month.

- Or longer.
- Exactly.

Okay.

Okay. So, what do we say, then?

Instead of goodbye.

I'll see you when I see you?

I'll see you when I see you.

- What?

[indistinct chatter on PA]

[Mel sighs]

- Hey.
- Hey, Jack. Oh my God.

- No, I'm okay. I'm okay. How's Mike?
- He lost a lot of blood.

The next hours are gonna be critical.

- [Jack] Oh God.
- Let's just hope he wakes up.

Hey, you know Mike, he's tough as nails.
He's gonna pull through.

- Where's Brady?
- He's still being questioned by the FBI.

I tried to vouch for him,
but without Mike to corroborate,

it's just our word
against a mountain of evidence.

I can't believe I let this thing happen!
She set up shop right under my nose!

Jack, you didn't let anything happen.

- Well...
- Her own brother didn't even know.

What can I do?

This is my mess to clean up, but thanks.

[softly] Okay. Okay, well, I'm gonna go
set up the beer garden for the carnival.

- [Jack] Oh yeah.
- Got your back if you wanna stay.

- Well, I'll get there later if I can.
- All right.

I'm gonna call Doc
and let him know that I'll start tomorrow.

No, no, no. Please don't do that.
Go to the clinic.

- Are you sure?
- Yeah. Positive.

- I'm gonna stick around too, so...
- Okay.

Okay, well, if you need me, call me.

- I know. Okay.
- Okay.

Thanks.

Bye.

[exhales deeply]

[expectant music playing]

Lizzie! Hot dog stand's set up.

- What's next, boss?
- Can you check the mini-donut situation?

If we don't have enough,
we'll have a mutiny.

[Denny] No problem.

Hey, uh, do you have a sec to talk?

[Lizzie] Um...

Are you okay?
Is this just carnival stress or...

Uh, yeah, kinda.

Sorry, I just have
a million things on my mind right now.

Maybe we can find some time tonight.
Once this is all up and running.

Yeah, sure thing.

Good, 'cause there's something
I want to talk to you about.

[kisses]

Mel, we heard about Mike,
and everybody's pulling for him.

- Yeah.
- And how's Jack?

[Mel inhales deeply]

You know, he's... he's shaken up,
but he's holding it together.

- You know how he is.
- [Doc] Yeah. [sighs]

He's still at the hospital with Brie.

- If you need to be with them, you can...
- Well, thanks. It's okay.

He said he was gonna call me
if he needed anything.

Besides, he didn't want me
to miss our first official staff meeting.

Ah! Well, very well. Let's get to it.

Yes. Uh, question.

- Why are we having a staff meeting?
- [Doc laughing]

Well, first of all,
it is to welcome you back.

Aw!

- Yeah.
- [Mel laughing]

And now that we are in fact a full staff,

I thought it would be a nice way
to keep us all on the same page.

All right. First item on the agenda
is giving Muriel an official title.

I suggest office manager.
All in favor say aye.

- Aye.
- Aye.

[Doc] Well, that's settled.

Fabulous. And I only have one request.

A desk.

And one that does not need to be
propped up with a legal pad.

That shouldn't be a problem.

Uh, second item.

Our patient load
is growing by the day, and, uh...

As I begin to scale back some,
uh, I think we should be discussing

the best ways we can move forward
to serve our community.

Well, given that most of our patients
live in rural areas,

I think implementing
a telehealth component

would be really beneficial
to broaden their access.

Yeah. Cameron makes a good point.

We could cover more patients in a day.

Not to mention
we've seen the benefits already.

- Delivering the Nickerson baby.
- Yeah.

Also, expanding on that, you know,
most of the women in town

still have to drive an hour
to see an OB/GYN.

So I was thinking that
we could start a birthing center.

We create a, you know, home-like
environment for expectant mothers,

we'd offer preconception counseling,

lactation consulting, postpartum care.

Whatever the community needs,
we could provide it right here.

[gentle music playing]

Guessing by your silence
you're not into those ideas?

No. No, no, no, far from it.

I think the future of our clinic
is looking brighter than ever.

[exhales]

Uh, item number three on the agenda.

- [Muriel] Ah!
- [all laughing]

[indistinct chatter]

[monitor beeping]

[door opens]

Brady.

Wait.

[sighs]

- Are you okay?
- It's nothing.

[woman on PA] Dr. Allen to Cardiology.
Dr. Allen to Cardiology.

[Brie sighs]

- [Brady] How's he doing?
- He's fighting.

The guy saved my life
and then... [inhales deeply]

- I should've...
- It's okay. Come here.

I'm glad he did. And you know what?

I'm sure he's gonna wake up. Okay?

Uh...

Really wish you would've told me
you were a CI.

I know. I was just trying to get you out.

Get us out.

But none of that changes the fact
that we're all here because of me.

And, uh... I get it.

If you and I are too far gone.

[wistful music playing]

Are we?

It's not that I don't appreciate
what you've done.

You know?
Melissa's in jail because of you.

You put yourself at risk for me.

But, yeah, because of the trial
and just all of this...

[sighs]

Brady, I will love you forever.

But I need you to know
that things have changed for me.

Yeah.

I get it.

Yeah.

[gentle music playing]

[exhales sharply]

[hums softly]

[Mel] Hey.

[chuckles] Sorry, I was looking
for creamer and I couldn't resist.

Oh, those are my favorite.

Have as many as you want,
they're delicious.

[Ava] Mmm.

- Hey, can I ask you some medical advice?
- [Mel] Yeah, of course.

Perks of staying above the clinic.

I made that follow-up appointment
with Dr. Kane about the hysterectomy.

[Mel] Yeah.

And I was wondering if we could make
a list of questions I should ask.

In case I, like, dissociate from my body.

[laughs] Yes, absolutely. Yeah.

[inhales deeply] Uh...

Okay, so, um, you're gonna want to ask him

about hormone replacement therapy
and what that entails.

[Ava] Mm-hmm.

[Mel] Recovery time after surgery.

His plan for pain management.

Whether I'll regret
not having children. [scoffs]

[downbeat music playing]

Yeah.

[inhales deeply]

You know... [sighs]

I have always thought
if I didn't carry my own child,

I'd be missing out on something.

But the more Jack and I
have been talking about it,

the more I realize

being a parent is...

is so much more than how you got there.

So if you decide
you want to be a mom someday,

you'll find a way.

[music continues]

[siren wailing]

[Brady] Hey.

[Jack] `Hey.

The FBI let you go.

Yeah, for now.
But I'm not off the hook yet.

Look, man, I...

I'm sorry. Mike said if I told you
it would jeopardize the whole case.

No, I get it. Took a lot of courage
to do what you did, man.

Yeah, well, Mike doesn't wake up,
nothing I did even matters.

I just hope he's okay.

You on your way out?

Yeah, Brie's still here, and I just...

I wanna give her some space.

So you and her?

Another casualty of this whole thing.

[phone chimes]

[exhales sharply]

[Jack] What is it now?

It's Lark. The FBI's at the glamping site.

[dark music playing]

[Cameron] Hey, so about earlier.

You know, I actually thought you were
gonna ask Doc for his permission.

- What, in the staff meeting?
- [chuckles]

Can you imagine? [laughs]

Yeah, but you know what? We are gonna
have to address that at some point.

You mean talk to Doc about us?

I don't see any other way around it.

[inhales sharply]

So, look, I think if we just tell him
how we really feel about each other,

then he will see that this is completely
different than the whole Mel situation.

Okay. Yeah. I will speak to him today.

No. No, you need to let me do it.

We are old friends.
And as you know, I'm very hard to resist.

[chuckles softly] Yeah.

[sweet music playing]

[indistinct radio chatter]

Uh, excuse me. Yeah, I'm Jack Sheridan.
This is my property.

Mr. Sheridan, this site and all assets
are now property of the FBI

in connection
to the Montgomery investigation.

Uh, well, can you tell me for how long?

[agent] A case like this could be
six months or six years.

[Jack] Six years?

These tenants need to be out
by end of day.

Uh, ma'am, these... these are not tenants,
these are evacuees from the fire.

- They got no place to go.
- Sorry, it's out of my hands.

[helicopter hovering]

Jack, I got here as quick as I could.

They had me and Jo Ellen
in for questioning for, like, hours.

How's Mike?

Well, we don't know yet.
Brie's gonna keep me posted.

I swear, Jack, I wouldn't have
let my sister anywhere near you

if I had any idea what she was up to.

I feel like such an idiot.
I just hope you can forgive me.

Look, Nick, there's nothing to forgive.

Well, if there's absolutely
anything I can do, please.

I... I just gotta figure out
what I'm gonna do with all these families.

[Nick] Yeah.

Are any of the rooms
at the B&B still habitable?

Well, uh, the east side of the building
ducked the worst of the fire.

Mostly smoke damage from busted windows.

All right, great. Well, Brady and I
will start packing everybody up.

Why don't you get Bert and those guys
to clean up those rooms?

- [Nick] Will do.
- All right.

[uplifting music playing]

So, what the hell happened last night?

Well, it turns out Jack's business partner
wasn't who he thought she was.

But he had no idea
when he said you could stay here.

[Lark sighs]

Did you?

Yeah, I did.

That was, uh...
I was trying to do something about it.

[laughs]

Of course you were.

- Brady?
- Yeah?

Will you ride
the kiddie cars with me tonight?

Honey, I think Brady's
probably got other plans.

Actually, um, Brady does not.

Tell you what,
how about I ride the kiddie cars with you

[Muriel] Working hard or hardly working?

Oh, I'm just taking a moment for myself.

- You okay?

I'm just wondering

Took me years to build this place.

Feels like they went by in an instant.

So many memories. [chuckles]

Cameron and I have feelings

but he has made it very clear
that the clinic is his top priority.

And he does not want to disappoint you.
But this is not about Cameron.

This is about me.

I haven't been as lucky in love as some...

Muriel.

...and I know that Cameron
is still working to earn your trust,

but you can trust me.

- This is more than just a flirtation...
- Muriel.

I want to make something very clear.

I do not care what you
or Cameron do in your private lives.

But we are here for our patients only.

Do you suppose the both of you
could conduct yourselves

in a professional manner
while you're here at work?

Yes, I do.

Okay. I respect you too much
to tell you what to do in this department.

[gentle music playing]

Just... watch out for yourself, please.

Okay?

- [phone ringing]

Thank you, Doc.

everyone's headed to the carnival soon.

Anyways, I just gotta
close out the register.

I will be on my way.

But, really, whatever happens with Kaia,

I told you I hate goodbyes.

What about your promotion?

I was on my way to the airport,

and I got worried about
another brigade coming in.

And I thought to myself,
why am I going all the way to Alaska?

There's plenty of stuff on fire here.

- You left your crew?
- [Kaia] Not exactly.

Took a few calls,
but I managed to swap with a friend

who's gonna lead up the post-fire cleanup.

I owe a really nice bottle
of Japanese whiskey, but, uh...

I figured you could help me with that.

Oh, I know just the bottle.
I'll ship it out today.

So how did Jay take the news?

[Kaia sighs]

He went ballistic.

Turning him down
is hardly a career breaker.

And something tells me...
that I made the right decision.

So...

how long is this assignment?
