[train whistles]

[opening theme song playing]

♪ Shunting trucks And hauling freight ♪

♪ 'Round Tidmouth Sheds Or far away ♪

[narrator announcing title]

One day, Bill and Ben were at Brendam Docks.

Bill was taking equipment to the China Clay Pits,

and Ben was waiting for a delivery of coal.

Still waiting for your coal,eh, Ben?

What a shame.

Looks like I'm going to befirst back to the Clay Pits.

[blows whistle]

See you there...eventually! [laughs]

First back to the Clay Pits,eh?

[blows whistle]

We'll see about that.

[gasps]

Last one there'sa stinky garbage car!

Hey, watch out, Bill!Or is it Ben?

[honks horn] Watch out, Ben!

Uh, Bill. Uh, whoever you are.

[laughing]

I'm the best, Bill!

No. I'm the best, Ben! [laughs]

Oh, really? Watch this then!

[laughs]

♪ I'm the best! I won! ♪

And you're the stinkygarbage car! [laughs]

But I had to pullall this heavy equipment

while your coal carsare all empty.

What's this about empty cars?

Ben didn't collect the coal!

What's that you say, Bill?

"Ben won the race?Ben is the best?" [laughs]

You were supposedto bring the coal, Ben!

I need coal to keep digging,

and you need coalto keep shunting.

And so does Bill.We all need coal, Ben.

Not Timothy.

Yeah. He's the odd one out!

[narrator] Timothy really was the odd one out,

because Timothy is an oil-burning steam engine.

In fact, he's the only oil-burning steam engine

on the whole Island of Sodor,

and that makes him very special indeed.

You need to go backfor the coal, Ben.

I've got to keepmy pistons pumping.

I'm sure there's plentyleft in the hopper.

Yeah! There was heapsof coal in there

last time I needed some.

And what are we going to doif we run out? What then?

No puffing! No digging!No wheeshing! No digging--

Alright, alright. I'll go.

Eventually.

[laughs]

[blows whistle]

[Marion]Well, make sure you do.

Oh, that Marion.She's no fun at all.

But she's right. There's a bigorder to send to the docks,

so you'll all be burninglots of coal.

[laughing]

Cool your boiler, Timothy.We'll get the work done.

[laughs] Yeah! Simmer down.

It doesn't mean we can'thave a bit of fun.

I don't think you shouldwaste any more--

My whistle's louderthan yours, Ben!

[blows whistle]

I don't think so!

[both blowing whistles]

[narrator] Bill and Ben didn't listen

to Timothy's advice.

I'm much stronger thanyou, Ben. Watch this!

[grunting]

Ha! So what?

Now I'm even faster!

-[laughs]-[blows whistle]

Careful, Ben!

Nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah.

Oh, stop messing aboutand go and get some more coal.

Oh, don't be so boring!

Yeah, we're just havinga laugh. [laughs]

Yeah, come on, Timothy.Join in!

[both laughing]

-[blows whistle]-[laughs]

-[blows whistle]-[shouts]

[laugh] Got you!

Good one, Bill.

That wasn't funny!Can't you see I'm refueling?

You might have causedan accident.

[groans] You're no fun,Timothy.

Yeah. You and youroil-burning ways.

You're the odd one out!

Not like us. We burn coal.

And we're not boring.

[laughing]

[narrator] Timothy usually feels proud to be different.

But Bill and Ben's jokes can get to anyone eventually.

Soon it was time for Bill and Ben to refuel.

-Then there was trouble.-Huh? What?

-[narrator] All the coal was gone.-[driver groans]

[narrator] There wasn't even enough to keep Bill and Ben in steam.

This is your fault, Ben.

You were supposedto bring the coal.

You shouldn't have beenmessing about all day.

Me messing about?I'm not the onewho's been messing about...

[blowing whistles]

[narrator] Bill and Ben didn't even have enough steam

to be able to get away from each other.

Oh, great. Typical.Now I'm stuck here with you.

[Ben]Now I'm stuck here with you!

Come on, you two! Chop chop!

Marion needs youto collect some clay.

We can't, Timothy.

We've... run out of coal.

[Marion] What? But...

there's no steam without coal!

What am I supposed to do now?

Don't look at me.

Oh, go on, Timothy.

Go and fetch some coal for us.

[both] Please.

Well...

I guess I could.

After all, I've still gotplenty of oil in my fuel t*nk.

[blows whistle]

[narrator] So it was Timothy

who delivered the clay to Brendam Docks...

[ship horn honks]

...and found cars loaded with coal ready and waiting for him.

[blows whistle]

[coal rattling]

Here comes the coal!

About time. Me first!

No, me!

Since neither of youare going anywhere yet,

you won't mind if I go first.

Aw, what?

Not fair.

Bill, Ben, is there anythingyou want to say to Timothy?

Thanks, Timothy.

And?

Sorry. Sorry we were silly.

And?

And sorry we made fun of you.

Yes. And while we'retwo of a kind,

being like you...

...the only oil-burning engineon the whole of Sodor...

...is kind of special.

And really useful...

[both] ...when we've run outof coal! [laughing]

[laughs]
