[Narrator] "Helping Hiro"

-[engine chuffs] -[Man] Okay!

[Narrator] One fine day on the island of Sodor,

Thomas was waiting for his flatbeds to be coupled...

[toot toot]

...when his friend Hiro

pulled up alongside him.

Hello, Hiro. How are you today?

You'’re looking ever so shiny! Have you been polished?

Where are you off to? Knapford? I'’m going to Knapford.

Ha ha ha ha ha! Thomas!

So many questions!

Why don'’t we go together?

I'’ll see how many I can answer on the way.

[toot toot]

Then there was trouble.

Oh! Stop! Thomas!

Your load!

Thomas started off

before the worker secured his load.

Thomas and Hiro hurried down the line.

Thomas had to go as fast as he could to keep up.

Why do they call you Master of the Railway, Hiro?

Ha! I don'’t know, Thomas.

-[kids laughing] -[toot toot]

But aren'’t you a good master of the railway, too?

I guess maybe I am! Ha ha ha ha!

[Narrator] When Hiro saw a sharp bend up ahead,

he decided to slow down.

Look at me, Hiro!

No one will believe I went faster than you!

-Ha ha! -Steady, Thomas!

Best to slow down for this bend.

But Thomas was too excited to slow down.

Look out!

The bend! Thomas!

Your load!

[Thomas] Aaaaaaah!

-[loud clattering] -Oh! Ohhh...

Hiro! Are you all right?

Ohhhh!

[man] Don'’t you worry, Hiro,

I'’ll have you back on the tracks in no time!

Ohhh.

[Narrator] Thomas felt terrible

about causing the accident.

He hoped Sir Topham Hatt wouldn'’t be too cross.

Now, then, Hiro.

Howdid this happen?

It was just an accident, sir.

-Some of my cargo came loose. -Yes, well,

I suppose these things do happen.

The sooner you both get back to work, the better, eh?

Off you go.

[toot toot]

Oh, dear.

Looks like the damage is worse than we thought.

You'’ll need to go to the steamworks for repairs, Hiro.

Hiro was wrong. [toot toot]

I'’m no master of the railway.

[Narrator] That night,

Thomas was still feeling upset about Hiro'’s accident.

What'’s wrong, Thomas?

Hiro'’s broken, and it'’s all my fault!

Hiro'’s been broken before.

But Hiro comes from so far away!

It'’s not easy to get the spare parts he needs.

They'’ll fix him up sooner or later.

[yawns] You'’ll see.

[Narrator] Thomas remembered the last time Hiro had broken down.

He was stranded in the woods for such a long time

that he almost fell to bits.

Ahh! That'’s it!

What'’s it?

Oh. Nothing, Percy.

It'’s time to go to sleep.

The next morning,

Thomas was up bright and early.

He had an idea how he could help fix Hiro.

If I can find some of Hiro'’s old spare parts,

then he can be fixed!

[wind whooshing]

Thomas felt like a brave explorer

as he rode slowly down the overgrown track

where he had first found Hiro.

Branches snapped and brambles scratched,

but Thomas wouldn'’t turn back.

I have to find some spare parts for Hiro.

He'’s my friend, and I want to help him.

But no matter how hard Thomas looked,

he couldn'’t find any spare parts.

This place is spooky.

Maybe this was a silly idea.

-[snapping, rattling] -[gasps]

I really think I should go back now.

Oh! Ohhh!

[wheels screeching]

The old rails had given way,

and Thomas had come off the track!

Oh. Ahh. Silly me.

It was just a deer.

When Thomas tried to move,

his wheels just spun around in the mud!

He couldn'’t pull himself back onto the broken rails!

Thomas was stuck.

-Help! -[toot toot]

Help!!!

Meanwhile, Percy was on a nearby branch line,

delivering the mail.

[Thomas] Help! [toot toot]

Heeeelp!

Can anyone hear me?

[toot toot]

-[helicopter flies over] -That sounds like Harold!

Harold, help! I'’m stuck!

[Narrator] Harold couldn'’t hear Thomas, either.

But then Thomas had another idea.

What'’s that? A fire?

No, that'’s not smoke,

that'’s steam-- from an engine.

[Thomas toots]

And thatsounds like Thomas!

Harold hurried off to get help.

But Thomas didn'’t know that Harold had even seen his signal.

He had nearly given up hope.

Ohh. No one can hear me.

And...it'’ll be dark soon.

[gasping]

[wind whooshing]

[owl hoots]

Hoo!

Aaah!

[distant clanking]

[rumbling]

[gasps] Oh, no. What was that?

[rustling]

-[Percy] Ha ha! Hello, Thomas! -[Rocky] Need some help?

[gasps]

Ya look like you'’re a little stuck!

[Sir Topham Hatt] Thomas?

What are you doing all the way out here?

I-I was trying to help, sir.

I was looking for-- Aah!

-Whoa! Aaah! -Ohh! Ohh!

[all laughing]

Oh. Ha ha.

Let'’s get you back on the tracks, Thomas,

and out of these woods.

[Thomas] But Harold just flew away again,

and I thought he hadn'’t even seen me.

And then, crash!

Percy and Rocky turned up and saved me!

Ho ho ho ho!

Sounds like you had quite an adventure!

I certainly did, Hiro.

But I'’m sorry I didn'’t find any spare parts for you.

I wish you were repaired and ready to leave, too.

But Thomas, I am.

[toot toot] Ha ha ha!

Are you? [toot toot]

I thought your spare parts would take weeks to get here!

Sir Topham Hatt ordered plenty of spare parts for me

last time I was fixed, in case I ever broke down again.

So...shall we? [toot toot]

Yes, please! [toot toot]

[Narrator] This time, Thomas remembered

to slow down for the bend.

He was so happy to be with his friend once more.
