[ Squawking]

All: whoa!

[ All laughing]

[ Birds twittering]

[ Laughing]

[ Barking]

[ Laughter]

We're here!

Me, too!

[ Yapping]

Oh, good, lunch is almost ready, you two.

[ Shivers]

Granny, it's getting cold outside.

I'm not cold.

You've got a fur coat.

[ Giggles]

I know.

It's getting cold in here, too.

We need some more wood on the fire.

We can get wood for you, granny.

Come on, little bear.

I'll show you where it is.

[ Yapping]

Here's the wood pile.

[ Barks]

And here's one for you too, tutu.

[ Cricket begins to chirp]

[ Tutu grumbles]

Good job.

Just put it in the wood box.

[ Tutu barks]

Oh, thank you, tutu.

[ Mutters happily]

It'll be winter soon, won't it, granny?

I love winter, don't you, little bear?

Oh, yes.

I don't mind the cold at all.

But I love a fire in the fireplace.

So do i.

Oh, that will do nicely.

Thank you, emily.

Thank you, little bear.

[ Yaps]

And thank you, tutu.

[ Gnawing]

[ Chirps]

[ Puzzled yip]

What was that?

It sounded very much

Like a cricket.

Maybe you brought him in

With the firewood.

[ Soft, quizzical yips]

[ Chirps]

I can't see him.

Oh, he could be anywhere.

[ Chirping]

That came from over there.

[ Barks]

[ Sniffing]

[ Grunts]

[ Chirps]

[ Chirp]

[ Chirp]

Nope.

Uh-uh.

[ Sniffing]

[ Chirping]

[ Barks]

[ Chirping]

[ Barks, whimpers]

Over there.

Maybe he's in the cupboard.

I don't think so.

He'll chirp a lot

As the house warms up.

But you have to be careful.

You don't want to scare him.

We can't find him anywhere.

I don't think he's ever going to come out.

Well, crickets

Are very shy by nature, you know.

Mmm.

[ Chirping]

[ Barks, growls]

[ Cricket sings...]

Do you know that it's good luck

To have a cricket in the house?

Emily, you have a lucky house.

I guess I do.

Listen.

[ Cricket chirping...]

Isn't that nice?

Crickets are very musical.

Yes, they are.

Very much so.

[ Imitates cricket]

[ Cricket chirps back]

He answered me.

[ Imitates cricket]

Emily: oh, isn't he wonderful?

He's talking to us.

He's a very clever cricket.

That's what we'll name him: "clever cricket."

[ Cricket chirps]

I think he's trying to teach us his song.

[ Imitates cricket]

[ Plays concertina]

[ Concertina with chirping...]

[ Whines]

[ Music continues]

[ All laugh]

Oh, look, there he is!

Clever cricket.

[ Yips]

[ Gasps]

[ Chirps]

[ Barks]

[ Gasps]

[ Laughs]

He's jumping all over the place.

[ Whines]

Crickets just naturally jump

And they never really know

Where they are going to land.

Well, there, there.

Now, take a deep breath, clever cricket

And try to settle down.

[ Sighs sweetly]

[ Concertina sighs]

That's better.

You sure are a good jumper, clever cricket.

Yes, indeed, you have the jumps

Like people have the hiccups.

[ Chirping]

Oh, I've never known such a musical cricket.

I think he really likes it here.

He's welcome to spend

The whole winter.

As a matter of fact, he can stay

As long as he likes.[ Chirping]

[ Barks]

I think he's going to be very happy here.

[ Concertina music with chirping and clapping]

[ Lid clatters rhythmically]

[ Music continues... ]

Look, the mice have come out to dance.

I didn't know mice were such good dancers.

Little bear, you're just in time to add the marshmallows

To the marshmallow mixed berry pie.

Mmm, marshmallow mixed berry pie.

My favorite.

[ Chuckling]

This has always been

Your mother's favorite pie too, little bear.

As long as there are twice as many

Raspberries as blackberries.

Just the way ilike it.

What do you have there?

Leaves-- gold leaves.

I caught them.

Oh, they're beautiful.

Let's press them in a book

Like you used to do when you were little.

Yes, let's press them.

This is where I keep my best leaves.

Those are nuts and bolts.

They hold things together.

Now, I keep the nuts in one jar

And the bolts in another.

We've got one for nuts...

One for bolts.

Only problem with these jars is I can't fit my paw into them.

So I end up dumping the nuts and the bolts out on the floor.

Oh!

See what I mean.

[ Grunts]

Happens every time.

Hey.

Hay!

I guess I should move it outside.

But it's my favorite place to nap.

Ah...

Nothing like a good pile of hay.

Ah...

So, what else do we need to do?

Well, let's see

We need to, uh... [ Yawns]

Put away the tools, uh...

Stack the buckets.

[ Yawns]

[ Snores]

You take a nap, grandfather.

And I'll clean up, okay?

[ Continues snoring]

[ Sighs]

You're going out in the garden.

Interesting.

Maybe you can help.

Now, want to help with the nuts and bolts?

Good job.

Now let's fill up these jars.

That was a bolt.

No problem.

We still need to coil up this rope.

Any ideas, broom?

Now, hold still.

Around and around and around we go.

Where we stop, nobody knows.

[ Groans]

[ Snores and snorts]

The only thing left to do is sweep up.

Now, I wonder who can help me with that?

[ Laughs]

[ Grandfather bear snorts]

Ah-ah-ah...

[ Sneezes]

Well, I must have dozed off.

We better get to work.

You cleaned the place up.

Now your paw won't get stuck.

Did you do all of this by yourself?

Well, I had some help from my broom.

[ Chuckles]

I'll bet all this hard work
