[Birds singing...]

[Owl hooting...]

[Hen squawks]

Cat: boo!

[Squawking]

All: whoa!

[All laughing]

[Sighs]

Hello, duck.

[Sadly]: hello, little bear.

What's the matter?

All the puddles are frozen solid.

There's nowhere to splash or swim.

Hmm...[Ice cracking]

Maybe you should come with me, to the north pole.

The north pole?

Do they have puddles there?

I don't think so.

It's where the snow comes from.

It's very cold

And nobody lives there.

Then why would you want to go there?

Because that's where

Explorers go.

It would be an adventure.

Okay.

It's better than sitting

On a frozen pond, I guess.

You do... Know how...

To get... To the north pole... Don't you?

Oh, yes.

I'll just use this.

Oh...

What is it?

A compass.

And that shows us the way to the north pole?

All you have to do is point it at the "n"

And follow the arrow.

Oh...

Can I hold it?

Sure.

Just follow the "n."

Is that right?

Uh-huh.

Just follow the "n."

Uh, duck?

Just follow the "n."

Uh, duck?

Oof!

Wha...?!

Oops.

[Groaning]

Little bear, I found it!

This is where the snow comes from, and it's pointing to "n."

I found the north pole!

The north pole?

You're miles away.

[Laughing]

But the compass said so.

This isn't the north pole, duck.

Nobody lives at the north pole, remember?

Oh, I forgot.

But we must be close.

Maybeishould use the compass.

Good idea.

Compasses make my head hurt.

Little bear: this looks like a good place to...

Slide!

You see, duck?

Explorers have all kinds of adventures.

Come on, duck.

[Quacks]

[Thud]

[Groans]

[Playful shouting...]

Look out!

sh**t! Over here!

[All laughing]

Whoa...!

Ooh!

Hello.

Who are you?

I'm little bear.

This is duck.

We're explorers.

The explorers?

Never heard of them before.

Anyway, do you want to play?

Uh, sure, I guess.

But you don't have tails like us.

No, we don't.

That's all right.

We'll get you a stick.

We'll get you two.

Thanks.

Come on.

I'm not sure I know how to play.

Hmm...

You'd better stand here and be the stopper.

Uh... The stopper?

What am I supposed to stop?

Ready?

Sure, I guess.

Go!

Come on!

Whoa!

[All talking and shouting...]

[Quacks]

[Quacks]

Whoa!

Huh?

Whoa...!

Whoa!

He scores!

I did?

Duck: yeah... Oof!

[All cheering...]

[Quacking, beavers cheering]

I thought you said you didn't know how to play.

I don't.

Well, you're good.

You can play for us anytime.

Thank you, but we're really explorers.

We're going to the north pole.

Good luck.

Hmm... Maybe we should start using these sticks.

Duck: we must be getting close to the north pole.

It's getting awfully cold.

Here, you can have my scarf.

Thank you, little bear.

[Wind blowing strongly...]

I can't see!

Neither can i.

Oof!

Hello, moose.

Hello, little ones.

Where are you off to?

We're going to the north pole.

Do you know if we're close?

Hmm, you might try those hills up ahead.

Well, could you give us a ride?

As I've always said

"Getting there is half the fun."

Hang on.

[Both laughing excitedly...]

Little bear: whee! Whee!

[Laughter continues...]

Look, duck.

It's pointing to "n," duck.

This is where the snow must come from, little bear.

We found it, duck-- the north pole!

Yay! Hooray!

[Cheering, quacking and laughing...]

Wow...

The north pole.

So, now what do we do?

Uh...

I know.

Let's take it back with us.

We'll give the north pole to mother bear as a present.

[Both grunting...]

Here, let me help.

[Grunts]

Both:yay!

Little bear: thank you, moose.

[Duck quacking excitedly...]

We're real explorers now, duck.

We found the north pole.

And even better than that

I found a nice, warm puddle to splash in.

[Laughing and quacking...]

[Little bear laughing...]

[Captioning sponsored by the u.s. Department of e[wind howling...]

Brr...

Now you two get back into the pile and stay warm.

There.

Ow!

Hmm...

[Chattering]

[Chattering]

[Giggling]

[Howling wind]

It's going to snow.

[Giggling]

Mother bear: little bear?

Little bear.

What are you doing?

I'm getting ready for snow.

I think it's too early for snow.

I know, but I saw all the signs

That father bear taught me.

All of them?

Mm-hmm.

Leaves falling in a pile to keep warm.

Squirrels burying lots of acorns.

And... Uh...

Both: a bear with an itchy nose.

Those are the signs.

Since father bear is away

I'll have to take

The first walk in the snow for him.

[Laughing]

[Howling...]

Do you see any snow?

No... Not a flake.

I can't wait to taste the first snowflakes.

They are the sweetest.

Mmm...

Good night, little bear.

[Yawns]

[Snoring...]

Sweet.

Snow!

[Gasps]

It's beautiful!

Hmm...

[Inhales]

[Giggling...]

[And giggling...]

[Little bear giggles...]

Dance with me!

[Giggles]

Whoa!

Bye!

[Icicles tinkle]

[Tinkles...]

Interesting.

[Tinkling...]

Gee.

[Chattering...]

Oh, hello.

Hey! [Giggles]

[Laughs]

Oh!

Hmm...

Huh?

Oh, hey, ow!

[Chattering]

[Laughing]

Whoa!

[Chattering loudly...]

Here I come.

I'm going to get you!

[Squeaks]

[Chattering]

[Yelling gleefully]

[Laughing] whoa!

Bye!

Whoa!

[Grunts]

[Giggles]

Hmm...

Hey!

Hmm, I know.

Perfect.

Would you like to go ice skating?

[Wind blows]

[Giggles]

Okay.

[Grunting]

Here I come.

Whee!

[Laughing]

[Laughing...]

[Grunting]

[Laughs]

Whoa!

[Grunting]

[Laughing]

More snow!

[Gasps]

It's snowing!

Come on, mother bear.

What is it?

Oh, it's beautiful.

Mmm...

Mmm...

So sweet.

Mm-hmm!

[Both laughing]

Little bear: one, two, three

Look at me!

Three, four, five...

I'm alive!

Let's make a few extra cookies.

But there's only three of us.

[Barks, pants]

[Barking]

[Laughing]

Four of us.

Five of us.

Oh, yes

We can't forget lucy.

Why don't we make enough for all of us?

And all of our friends, too?

It's always a good idea

To have extra gingerbread cookies.

Mm-hmm.

Granny [rhythmically]: hickory, dickory

Six and seven.

Alabone, cr*ck a bone

Ten and eleven.

Spin, spun

Almost done.

Twiddlum, twaddlum

Twenty-one.

What's that?

Oh, just a little rhyme I like to say

When I'm baking cookies.

You try it.

Hickory, dickory

Six and...

Seven?

Alabone, cr*ck a bone

Ten...

And eleven.

Granny: spin, spun

Almost done...

[Both garbling rhyme]

[Laughing]

Granny [very deep]: I'm the grand leader

Of the gingerbread cookies!

[In a regal voice]: and I'm the queen of

The gingerbread cookies.

What's that one supposed to be?

[High voice]: I'm the polka dot gingerbread cookie!

[Yelps][all laughing]

Emily: yeah, here would look nice.

[Sniffing]

[Chattering]

Time to put the cookies in the oven.

Now we have to wait.

[Humming...]

[All sigh]

[Humming]

Emily: ah...

Little bear: mmm!

They smell delicious, granny.

Ah, ah, ah!

They're too hot to eat right now.

But you have to watch them, very carefully.

Watch them?

I'd rather eat them.

Oh, if you don't watch gingerbread cookies carefully

They might just... Get up and run away.

Really?

Oh, granny.

Especially if it's snowing outside.

Gingerbread cookies love to play in the snow.

Well, how long do we have to watch them?

Until they're cool enough to eat.

Oh.

Don't let them out of your sight.

I'm going out back for some firewood.

Keep your eyes on them.

Gingerbread cookies can be very, very sneaky.

I think I saw one blink.

I think I saw one move.

[Wind howling]hickory, dickory...

Six and...

Alabone, sticks and bones?

No!

[Giggles]

Alabone, cr*ck a bone...

Ten and eleven.

Right!

Little bear: spin, spun

Almost done!

Emily: twiddlum, twaddlum...

Both: twenty-one!

We did it.

We got it right.

Both: spin, spun

Almost done!

Twiddlum, twaddlum

Twenty-one!

[Both giggling]

Snowfall!

[Whistles]

[Gasps]

Charge!

Snow

Snow, snow!

[Both gasp]

Wait!

You can't leave.

We're supposed to keep an eye on you.

Then we're supposed to eat you.

[Laughs]

You can't eat us if you can't catch us!

[Whooping and cheering]

Come back!

[Grunts]

[Whooping and cheering]

They're getting away!

[Cheering wildly]

[Whistles]

Where'd they go?

Gingerbread cookies can be very, very sneaky.

There they are.

Where?

Over there.

Come back!

Both: wait! Come back!

[Laughing and shouting]

[Snoring within]

[Hooting in fright]

[Grunts]

What was that?!

Something just ran through my house.

Gingerbread cookies.

We're chasing them.

I love gingerbread cookies.

Nyah, nyah-nyah, nyah-nyah, nyah!

Emily: come on!

Whee! Whee! Whee!

[Laughing...]

[Squawks]

Oh!

What hit me?

It's the gingerbread cookies.

We have to catch them.

Gingerbread cookies?

Mmm!

Hey! Come back here!

[Snoring]

[Screeches]

[All laughing]

What, what?!

I'm going to eat you!

Emily: come back here!

[Owl hoots]wait for me, gingerbread cookies!

Gingerbread cookies?

Mmm!

[Whooping and laughing]

[Whistles]

[Panting, squawking]

Emily: wait.

Slow down.

[Hooting]

There you are![Door shuts]

[All sigh]

Good thing our gingerbread cookies didn't run away.

Huh?

Hmm...

Hmm!

There's only one way to make sure

Gingerbread cookies don't run away.

What's that?

Eat them.

[All chomping]

Has anybody seen

The grand leader gingerbread cookie?

Not me.no.no.uh-uh.

[Murmuring]

I didn't see him.

[Windowpane squeaks]

Whoo!

Whee!

Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

I'm free!

[Laughs]
