Man: max and ruby.

Woman: ruby and her little brother max!

Kids: max and ruby! (Giggling)

Ruby: "max and ruby's perfect pumpkin"

Ruby: come on, max.

Are you ready to pick the perfect pumpkin?

(Happy squeaks)

(Giggles)

Let's go!

(Bell rings)

Oh!

Look at all mr. Piazza's halloween decorations!

(Gasps)

Wow!

Hi, mister piazza.

Hi, ruby.

Hello there, max.

What do you think of my spooky kooky scarecrow?

I love it!

(Plop)

Candy!

That's right, max.

Red candy lips, googley gumball eyes,

And goofy green candy monster teeth!

All stuck on with my own recipe of sugar glue!

Candy!

(Giggles)

It's a very nice display, mr. Piazza,

But we're here to find the perfect pumpkin

For halloween.

Ah, then you've come to the right place.

Here at piazza's,

We have the perfect pumpkin for everyone!

(Gasps)

Look at all the pumpkins, max!

Come on, lets go pick one out.

Candy!

(Giggles)

We're not here to buy candy, max.

We're here to pick out a pumpkin.

Finding the perfect pumpkin is a really big job.

It has to be nice and round

And orange,

Not to lumpy and not too smooth,

And big enough to make

A nice, happy jack-o-lantern face.

What do you think of this one, max?

Max?

(Gasps)

Max!

(Gasps)

What are you doing?

Candy!

Sorry, max.

We're not here to get candy today.

We're here to find a perfect pumpkin for halloween.

Come and see the one that I found!

Oh no!

It's gone!

(Cash register dings)

Mr. Piazza: that's an excellent choice, valerie.

I can't wait to make a jack-o-lantern out of it!

Hi, ruby! Hi, max!

Look at the pumpkin I found for halloween!

Oh. (Giggles)

It's perfect, valerie.

I nearly picked that one too!

Happy halloween!

You too!

I love halloween!

(Bell rings)

(Sighs)

Ruby: I'm sure there's more than one

Perfect pumpkin in this pile.

Hmm.

Max, would you please go get your wagon,

So we can put our pumpkin on it?

Thanks, max.

(Bell rings)

Too flat.

Hmm, too lumpy.

(Bell rings)

(Wagon rumbles)

(Bell rings)

Candy!

Wow!

Here's a nice big one!

We'll definitely need the wagon for this one, max!

Max?

(Gasps)

Oof.

Max!

Whew.

What were you doing, max?

Candy!

Sorry, max.

You can't have the candy

On the scarecrow head.

It's just for decoration.

Don't worry, max.

We'll get lots of candy when we go trick-or-treating!

But for now,

We have to have the perfect pumpkin.

Wait till you see it.

It's huge!

Huh?

(Gasps)

It's gone!

(Bell rings)

Mr. Huffington!

Hello, ruby. Hello, max.

Look how lucky I was to find

This nice big pumpkin for halloween.

Yes, very lucky.

We're looking for a pumpkin

Just like that one.

Well you'd better hurry up and choose one.

They're selling like hotcakes!

(Bell rings)

I just know there's a perfect pumpkin for us somewhere.

(Clanking)

What do you think of this one, max?

(Boinging)

(Thwack)

Candy!

(Boinging)

(Whoosh)

Max!

(Gasps)

(Thwack)

(Loud crash)

(Gasps)

Oh no!

I'm so sorry mr. Piazza.

Oh that's all right, ruby,

As long as everyone's okay.

Yes, mr. Piazza.

And don't worry,

We'll put them back the way they were.

(Cans clink)

(Bell rings)

(Bell rings)

There!

The cans are back just the way they were.

Candy.

Not now, max.

We've got to hurry before all the pumpkins are-

(Gasps)

Oh!

Where'd all the pumpkins go?!

(Cash register dings) huh?

(Cash register dings)

Oh, there aren't any pumpkins left.

Max?

(Toy whirs)

Your search and rescue emergency helicopter?

(Squeaks)

(Boing)

(Buttons beep)

(Gasps) oh no!

(Toy whirs)

(Whack) (thump)

(Plop)

Phew.

Max, look!

It's the most perfect pumpkin ever!

It was just hidden by all that-

Huh?

(Munches)

Candy!

Ruby: "max's jack 'o' lantern"

Oh...

Beautiful!

Max, are you in your costume yet?

Our halloween party guests will be here soon!

Scary!

Max, are you a vampire again?

(Squeaks)

Scary!

Don't you want to be something different

For halloween this year?

Well, look at me.

Last year I was a princess,

But this year I've added wings

And a wand

And poof!

Now I'm fairy godmother ruby!

See?

It's a whole new costume.

Grandma: yoo hoo!

Ruby: (gasps) grandma's here!

(Feet patter down steps)

Hi grandma!

Grandma: (chuckles)

Oh look at you!

Fairy godmother ruby,

You're the prettiest of them all!

And max!

Halloween wouldn't be the same without your vampire!

Scary!

(Laughs)

Are you all set for your party, ruby?

We still have a lot to do

Before our guests arrive.

Well, I brought these snacks,

And I'll carve the pumpkin.

Max!

Want to help me put up the decorations?

(Cape flutters)

Look at these fun jack-o-lanterns!

(Giggles)

Scary!

There aren't any scary decorations in there, max.

This is a happy halloween party.

(Sighs)

There's another box full of decorations upstairs.

Could you get them for me please?

(Cape flutters)

(Shuffling)

(Toy witch squeaks)

(Toy squeaks)

(Cape flutters)

(Cupboard door opens)

(Toys clatter)

(Boinging)

(Boinging)

Scary!

(Struggles)

Almost got it...

Oh, tying balloons is harder than it looks.

(Boinging)

Huh?!

(Balloon whooshes)

(Air whooshes out)

(Plop)

Ruby: max, what are those spiders doing there?!

Max: scary?

Ruby: oh.

I know what you can do!

Why don't you draw a face for our jack-o-lantern?

Then grandma can carve the pumpkin.

Make sure it's a happy, smiling pumpkin

Like this one. Okay?

(Whoosh)

Scary!

(Hums)

(Balloon snaps)

(Hums)

(Dramatic music)

Okay!

Max, that's great!

You drew a nice, happy pumpkin face!

Let's show it to grandma!

(Splurt)

I'm almost finished putting the icing on the cookies!

Thanks, grandma.

They look yummy!

Look at the face that max drew

For our jack-o-lantern!

Grandma: you drew that, max?

(Happy squeaks)

Oh, it's very... Happy.

I know! Isn't it great?

Can you copy it to the pumpkin for us,

And then carve it, grandma?

Of course, ruby!

Thanks.

Scary!

(Hums)

Grandma: okay, max,

Let's get to work.

First we'll cut a hole in the top

So we can get to the goopy stuff inside.

(Happy squeaks)

Do you want to scoop out the insides?

(Squeaks)

You do that while I draw

The face on the pumpkin.

(Slurping)

Is that the face you drew max?

(Happy squeaks)

All right, then let's get carving!

(Slurping)

I'm finished my decorations.

Max, what are you doing with that pumpkin goo?

Scary.

Max, nobody wants to see pumpkin goo.

Ew!

Your jack-o-lantern's all finished!

What do you think?

We'll have the happiest jack-o-lantern

In the neighbourhood!

I think you're right, ruby.

Ruby: do you want to come and see my decorations, grandma?

Of course, ruby.

I'll take the punch bowl with me.

And I'll take the snacks.

(Glasses clink)

(Dramatic music)

Scary!

Grandma: everything looks wonderful, ruby!

You've done a marvelous job.

Thanks, grandma.

(Door bell rings)

(Gasps)

Our guests are here!

Ooh. (Laughs)

(Door opens)

Happy halloween!

All: trick er... (Scared gasps)

What's the matter?

Louise: your jack-o-lantern.

It's so...

Happy?

No, it's better than that.

It's...

Max: scary!

(Gasps)

All: (laugh)

Ruby: "max's big boo!"

(Hums)

(Hums)

Woo! (Hums)

Mirror, mirror on the wall,

Who's the fairest of them all?

Why you are, fairy godmother ruby.

(Giggles)

Hey, max!

It's time to go trick-or-treating!

(Door squeaks open)

Max?!

I know what you're up to.

Boo!

(Giggles)

You think you can scare me,

Don't you, max?

(Squeaks)

Well, it's not going to happen.

You've scared me before,

But not anymore.

I know all your tricks

And they won't work this time.

(Giggles) you understand?

(Squeaks)

(Telephone rings)

Louise: (over phone) hello?

Hi, louise?

It's fairy godmother ruby here.

(Giggles)

Are you ready to trick or treat?

Louise: (laughs) you're funny, ruby.

I'm all ready.

Look for the bunny ballerina at your grandma's!

Okay!

We'd better go before it gets too late.

Louise: did max scare you yet?

Unh unh.

Max already tried to scare me,

But I told him:

He can't frighten me this halloween.

I know all his tricks.

Louise: okay, ruby.

Ruby: okay.

See you out there.

Bye!

Louise: bye!

Max: boo!

Nice try, max.

(Rubber spider snaps)

(Whips around)

We have to get ready to go to grandma's house

So she can take us trick or treating.

We'll meet up with louise later.

Just keep a look out for a ballerina bunny.

(Door opens)

(Door shuts)

Where is my trick or treat basket?

(Gasps) there it is!

That's funny.

I don't remember leaving it there.

I wonder who could have...

Boo!

(Small sigh)

The old can-of-worms

In-the-trick-or-treat basket trick.

I told you, max.

You can't get me,

Not this time.

Now if you'll excuse me,

I need to clean it out

So it's ready for all our treats!

(Worms plop)

Perfect!

Now there's room for lots and lots of treats.

Okay, max!

It's time to go to grandma's!

Let's put on our boots.

Max?

Where are you?

(Door squeaks)

(Pretending) oh no!

Max has disappeared!

On halloween!

(Door squeaks)

What's happened to him?

(Gasps)

Maybe a witch got him or...

(Gasps)

(Overly dramatic) a vampire!

Or maybe he went to grandma's house without me.

I better put on my boots and catch up with him.

I'll just go to the closet and get my...

Boo!

Nice try, max.

Pass me my boots and we'll go, okay?

(Squeaks)

Thank you, max.

I hope you believe me now.

You can't scare me.

(Squeaks)

Hmm... (Shoe rattles)

Boo!

I told you, max.

I know all your tricks!

You can never be too safe

On halloween, max.

These reflective strips

Will make sure we can be seen,

Even in the dark.

And my star light star bright flashlight

Will help light our way!

Boo!

(Flashlight clicks off)

(Snap)

I believe this belongs to you.

Okay.

We're ready to go to grandma's house!

Oops.

I nearly forgot my fairy godmother wand!

You stay here while I go upstairs to get it.

And no more tricks!

(Footsteps on stairs)

(Bouncing footsteps)

(Cape flutters)

(Door squeaks open)

Boo!

(Cape flutters)

Boo!

(Cape flutters)

Boo!

(Cape flutters)

Boo!

(Cape flutters)

Boo!

(Toy squeaks)

(Toy squeaks)

(Cape flutters)

(Footsteps on stairs)

(Owl hoots)

(Footsteps)

(Boing)

Phew.

(Boinging)

(Spooky music)

(Whoosh)

Ruby: boo!

(Giggles)

Got you, max!

I really got you, didn't i, max?

Boo!
