CHILDREN: Max and Ruby!

[Robin chirping]

Ah. Good morning, Mr. Bird.

[Chirping]

That's right.

Today is going to be a special day.

[Chirping]

[Whistling]

[Door opening]

[Whistling continues]

[Door opening]

[Whistling]

Good morning, Ruby.

Good morning, Mom.

[Whistling]

[Chuckling]

Someone's in a good mood.

Today is a big day, Mom.

Is it?

It's my turn to be playground helper at recess,

and I want to do a really good job for Ms. Bunty.

Keeping an eye on everyone is hard, but I can do it.

Well, then.

I'd better make you a bigger sandwich.

There.

Wow. Now, that's a sandwich.

[Wolf-whistling]

Whoa.

[Exhaling]

[Inhaling and exhaling]

Here's your sandwich, Max.

Thanks.

[Exhaling]

[Giggling]

Keep trying, Max.

Show me how to whistle, Ruby?

Sure, Max, but let's do it on the way to school.

I don't want to be late on such a big day.

Bye.

Bye, Mom.

Bye, Max. Bye, Ruby.

Have fun.

[Exhaling]

I'm so excited to be playground helper, Max.

It's a big responsibility.

I have so many questions to ask Ms. Bunty.

[Robin chirping]

[Max exhaling]

[Exhaling continues]

Show me how to whistle?

Okay. It's really very simple.

All you need to do is make your mouth into a perfect "O" shape,

then blow.

[Whistling long, sustained note]

Now you try.

[Inhaling and exhaling]

[Exhaling]

[Exhaling]

You've almost got it.

More like this--

GIRL: Hi.

Good morning, my little bunnies. How are you today?

Oh, there's Ms. Bunty. I'll show you again later.

[Inhaling and exhaling]

[Exhaling]

GIRL: Over here!

[Children giggling]

Come on.

Whee!

Oh, yeah.

Got you!

Catch, Priya.

[Giggling]

Thanks for making me playground helper, Ms. Bunty.

I won't let you down.

I know how seriously you take your job, Ruby,

but remember to have fun, too.

It is recess.

Let's see. Winston?

Winston dribbles the ball, then rolls down the court

and goes for the sh*t.

Oh, yeah!

Check. Lily and Priya?

Me first.

My turn, my turn.

[Giggling]

Let's do it again.

Check. Morris?

Ha-ha!

Do you need help on the monkey bars, Morris?

[Exhaling]

Hold on. I'll help you.

[Exhaling]

There you go, Morris.

[Giggling]

Oh, hi, Max.

Show me now, Ruby?

Show you what?

Whistle!

Oh, yes. Sure thing.

Like I said, it's really, really simple.

All you need to do is--

LILY: Oops.

[Giggling]

Lily, I told you it was my turn.

[Giggling]

Uh-oh. Looks like you're stuck.

Do you need some help, Priya and Lily?

This is why it's one at a time on the slide.

[Exhaling]

[Exhaling continues]

Swish.

And the crowd goes wild!

Want to play, Max?

[Exhaling]

Huh?

[Exhaling, then whistling]

You okay?

Can you whistle?

Sure I can. Want to see?

Yes, show me.

[Whistling a simple tune]

Whoa! How did you do that?

I put my tongue behind my teeth, make an "O" and--

[Whistling same tune as before]

[Birds chirping]

Your turn.

[Blowing raspberry]

It takes practice. You'll get it, Max.

Apples, peaches, pears, plums.

Tell me when your birthday comes.

January, February, March, April, May.

[Inhaling]

[Blowing raspberry]

That's not how you whistle.

Show me.

[Chuckling] Sure thing, Max.

Thanks for letting me skip with you, girls.

Okay, pay attention.

This is how you whistle. It's really very simple.

All you need to do is make your mouth into

a perfect "O" shape.

[Whistling]

Uh-oh.

Looks like Morris needs help getting his ball.

Be right back.

[Exhaling]

[Exhaling]

[Whistling]

LOUISE: Trying to whistle, Max?

Yes. Let's see what you can do.

[Blowing raspberry]

Hmm.

We learned how to whistle a different way in Bunny Scouts.

It's really loud. Want me to teach you?

Yes, please.

Okay. Bunny Scout Leader said

I was the loudest out of all the Bunny Scouts,

so stand back.

First, you put your fingers in your mouth.

Then curl your tongue, and--

[Whistling loudly]

Now you try.

Okay.

[Inhaling]

[Blowing raspberry]

It took me a few times to figure it out, too.

You'll get it.

Thanks, Louise.

Anytime, Max. See you later.

[Blowing raspberry]

[Inhaling deeply]

[Whistling loudly]

I did it, I did it!

[Children giggling]

Lily,

remember to take turns with the jump rope, please.

Priya, careful. Please watch where you're going.

[Morris imitating jet engine]

Airport control tower to Captain Morris:

you're cleared for takeoff.

[Imitating jet engine]

I can whistle. I can whistle!

That's great, Max.

Let's hear it. I'm all ears.

Oh, Ruby?

Yes, Ms. Bunty?

Recess is almost over.

Perhaps you can help me get everyone lined up

so we can get back to class.

Okay.

What about my whistle?

Uh, not right now, please.

Ms. Bunty wants me to help get everyone back to class.

[Imitating jet engine]

[Gasping]

Oh.

[Giggling]

Time to come in to land, Morris.

[Giggling]

Line up, please.

[Imitating jet engine]

[Giggling]

Whoa! Whee!

Attention everyone. Priya, Lily?

Oh, dear. Morris?

Winston?

[Giggling]

WINSTON: Woo-hoo! Cool.

[Giggling continues]

Oh, dear. No one's listening.

What am I going to do?

I know.

Whee! So much fun.

[Inhaling deeply]

[Max whistling loudly]

Huh?

Huh? Yes?Whoa.

Wow! You really [span tts:fontStyle="italic"]can[/span]whistle.

Really loud.

[Chuckling]

Yes, loud enough to get everyone's attention.

Line up, everybody.

Thank you, everyone.

Wonderful.

Is everyone ready to go back to class after recess?

Yes, Ms. Bunty.

Thank you for doing such a great job today.

You're an excellent helper.

Thanks, Ms. Bunty.

Tell me, what's your secret?

How did you get everyone lined up so quickly?

Well, it's all thanks to Max's whistle.

[Inhaling deeply]

[Whistling loudly]

Oh, my.

[Robins chirping]

[Max whistling a tune]

RUBY: I just love Grandparents Day.

Grandma is so good to us.

She deserves her own special day.

I think Grandma will love the fancy hat

that Mom and Dad got for her.

Hmm.

I still want to think of something special

that Max and I can do for Grandma.

Let's make a mud pie.

Mud pies are too messy, Max.

Okay.This?

Grr!

Grr.

That may be a bit too monster-y for Grandma.

MOM: Camera, check.

Cupcakes, check.

Let's get a picture of Grandma eating the first cupcake.

Oh. Okay.

Ooh, the camera.

I have an idea.

We can take a nice picture of you and me

to give to Grandma,

and we can put it up on the piano,

under the decorations.

Can I use the camera, please?

Of course.

Hmm.

So, where should we take the photo?

The backyard.

Great idea, Max. Let's go.

Hmm.

Oh, the flower garden.

It's nice and bright and colourful.

Okay. The timer is set.

Let's pose for the picture, Max.

Okay.

Remember: shoulders back, chin up and big smile.

Three, two, one.

[Shutter clicking]

I bet it's perfect.

[Giggling]

[Camera clicking, whirring]

Huh?

That's a funny picture.

It is a funny picture, Max, but let's take another one.

This time without the glasses, please?

Okay.

There.

All right.

Three, two, one.

[Shutter clicking]

[Clicking, whirring]

Max, you look great,

but I seem to have antennae.

I look like a bug.

Or an alien.

Oh, Max, that's so silly.

It's a funny picture.

Yes, it is,

but I think we need to try again.

[Shutter clicking repeatedly]

[Laughing] Funny pictures.

They are funny, Max.

But Grandma will want a nice picture of us, not a silly one.

We need to get a nice one.

Let's go, before Grandma gets here.

Okay.

We'll go inside and find a new spot.

Oh, and we better hurry. Grandma will be here soon.

This spot is perfect.

Let's sit on the edge of the bed, okay?

Okay, Max?

Max?

[Toy blimp whirring]

Mighty Bunny Explorer Blimp!

RUBY: Careful, careful.

Coming in for a landing.

Whoa! Oof.

[Shutter clicking]

It's okay. The camera didn't break.

Sorry, Ruby.

[Clicking, whirring]

RUBY: But I don't think Grandma will want a picture of our feet.

Let's try again.

Okay.

Now smile, Max.

Perfect.

[Toy clicking, whirring]

Huh? Oh!

[Shutter clicking]

[Camera clicking, whirring]

Let's try again, without the lobster this time.

Maybe we'll try someplace else, somewhere without so many toys.

We have to get this picture soon.

I'll go find another place to set up.

I have an idea.

Say "cheese."

[Shutter clicking]

[Camera clicking, whirring]

Yes!

RUBY: Come with me, Max.

I found the perfect spot.

Look. Funny picture.

A picture of your toys?

That is funny, Max, but come on, let's go.

[Giggling]

What's in the box?

Costumes and dress-up clothes.

Dad found it in the attic

when he was looking for party decorations.

MAX: Scary beast!

Dragon.

Vampire.

Cowboy.

Firefighter.

Whoa.

The living room is the perfect place

to get a nice picture for Grandma.

Perfect.

Okay, Max. Three, two, one.

[Shutter clicking]

[Camera clicking, whirring]

Ruby and the Beast.

Max, are we ever going to get

a nice picture for Grandma's gift?

I'm a beastie fire dragon!

Max, please.

Can we take a nice, normal, no-funny-faces,

no-costumes photo?

Okay.

No funny faces or costumes.

Great. Thanks, Max.

Whoa!

BOTH: Oof.

[Shutter clicking]

[Camera clicking, whirring]

I like it.

MOM: Ruby, Max?

Grandma just called. She's on her way.

Oh, dear.

RUBY: Well, here are all the photos.

Funny pictures.

They are, but they're all so silly.

We don't have one nice picture of the two of us.

I wonder if there's time for one more.

[Doorbell ringing]

Yay! Grandma is here.

Oh, no.

Happy Grandparents Day.

[Chuckling]

Why, thank you very much.

[Gasping]

Ooh!

Now, don't they look scrumptious.

We arranged them on the tray to look like you.

GRANDMA: The ears look exactly like mine.

[Laughing]

Mmm, yummy.

Say "cheese." [Shutter clicking]

We have presents, too.

Oh, you didn't have to go to all this trouble.

Here's one from the family.

What a stunning garden party hat.

Thank you! I love it.

Our present.

Here, Grandma. It's a picture of Max and me.

We really tried to get a nice one.

And you succeeded. I love it!

You do?

Of course. Look at your lovely smile.

And Max is being his usual funny self.

You took the perfect picture.

I did?

Yes.

This is one of the most thoughtful gifts

I've ever received.

Thank you.

Look, Grandma: more pictures.

Ooh, just look at all these wonderful photos.

They're so much fun.

But there isn't one nice picture of me and Max.

We ran out of time before I could get one.

Oh, no, Ruby.

These are all very nice pictures.

[Laughing]

I guess you were right, Max.

You two are my favourite little photo bugs,

but I need one more picture.

Could you take a picture of us, please?

Okay, everyone. Say "cheese."

ALL: Cheese.

[Shutter clicking]

MAX: Now, that's the funniest photo.

KIDS: Happy Grandparents Day, Grandma.

GRANDMA: Why, thank you, everyone.
