[unsettling music playing]

[unsettling music continues]

[keys jangling]

Okay

So, last night, what did you do?

Well, did you see Stella?

No, uh

Well, when I got back after work,

uh, Stella wasn't home, uh

And then I went out for a meal

with a former colleague, Mikael Blomberg.

Ah.

I got home around

well, maybe at half eleven.

Do you know what time

your daughter came home?

I think I went to sleep straight away,

because I've no idea.

So, do you have any idea

what Stella was wearing at all?

[mobile phone ringing, vibrating]

- You can answer that.

- Uh

Can wait until later. Let it ring.

Uh

No, err

I've no idea.

Okay.

- [knocking on door]

- Yeah?

Thanks

[mobile phone ringing, vibrating]

- [Ulrika clears throat]

- [mobile phone ringing]

Ugh, it's about my dad.

His care home.

[woman] Thank you.

- Yeah, um

- [door closes]

And you have no idea

what clothes she had on?

No.

[tense music playing]

[cell door unlocks, opens]

[man] It's time.

- Come with me.

- Mm.

[keys jangling]

- [officer] Hi.

- Hi.

I'll be right outside

if you need anything.

Okay. Thanks a lot.

Hi, Stella.

I am Mikael Blomberg, a defence lawyer.

Hi.

Well, I know your mum. We

we used to work together.

And she's asked me to represent you/

I understand you have

no objections to that?

No.

Very good. Will you take a seat?

[Stella] Mm.

[Stella breathes shakily]

I will do everything possible

to get you out of here as soon as I can.

Um from what I've seen,

the case against you so far

is based on very weak evidence.

When you were arrested by the police,

you were taken in for questioning,

weren't you?

Now, if they should want

to speak to you again,

then it's vital that I'm there.

See, they're not allowed to question you

unless your defence lawyer is present.

That clear?

[Stella] Mm-hmm.

[Mikael] On Monday,

there'll be a detention hearing,

and the prosecutor will demand

to have you arrested for m*rder.

But the burden of proof

is entirely on them.

So you don't have to say anything at all.

You can remain silent.

[cell phone ringing, vibrating]

Hey, Bitte. Listen

[Bitte] I need to tell you

we are struggling with Thord here.

Just a minute ago,

he slapped a member of staff

and called her a n*gro.

- I think it's best if you come by.

- Uh, listen.

- I I'm coming now.

- Otherwise, he won't be able to stay.

Okay? Yeah? Yeah.

[indicator blinking]

[clears throat]

POLICE

[Ulrika groans emotionally]

[Adam] Where is she? Did you see her?

She's in custody.

Well, why do they even believe

that Stella would've done such a thing?

I've no idea, but [sighs]

it's very clear that she knew him.

[Adam] She knew him?

Um who is he? Hmm?

- Just tell me.

- Christoffer Olsen, I gather.

What they said. He's 32

- [sighs]

- Well, he was 32.

Why would Stella be hanging out

with a 32-year-old?

It makes no sense at all.

There is a witness.

And he says

that he saw Stella at the scene,

and heard arguing and shouting

around 1 a.m.

One in the morning?

Mm.

Look, you must go in. Go in now.

I'm going to the care home.

But but you you're going

to see your pa right now?!

[Ulrika] Yes. I have to.

I have to.

[Adam sighs]

[sighs]

I LEFT YOU A VOICE MAIL

WHEN DO YOU THINK YOU'LL BE HOME?

[tense music building]

Ah, this is absurd.

That you can actually think

my little girl would even be capable

I understand you feel that way, Adam.

But we just wanna find out what went on.

If Stella's innocent,

that's exactly

what needs to come to light.

Stella has nothing to do with this.

Okay, Adam.

But shall we get on

with the interview, then?

Tell me about yesterday

What were your movements?

I was at church nearly all day.

I held a service.

After that, I went food shopping.

Cooked a meal, stuck the football on.

Uh Stella, where was she?

She has a job in the day

And then she was out

with a friend in the evening.

[Anders] Okay, um

Were you in contact with her?

Yeah, yeah. We texted a few times.

And did she reply?

No, I don't think she did.

Or I can't really remember

if she did or not.

So, then, you went to bed,

uh what time was that?

Uh eleven.

Uh think it was just after.

Um, but, um,

couldn't get to sleep.

- [Anders] So, you lay awake?

- Yeah, I lay awake waiting for Stella.

Okay, then, you you were awake

when Stella came home?

Yeah, I know exactly what time it was.

Uh, it was 11:55pm.

How can you be so so exact with that?

We have an alarm clock

on the bedside table.

I I looked at it.

And you're sure it was Stella

who came home? You're sure of that

I spoke to her.

You spoke to her?

Okay, well, do you recall

what she said to you?

Well, you know,

we just said good night.

Are you sure of that?

23.55?

Yeah, I'm certain.

[unsettling music playing]

[unsettling music continues]

WELCOME

It's causing a lot of concern.

Your dad has

a huge problem with socialising.

And to be honest, it's getting so bad

that none of the staff

want to go in his room anymore.

- Yeah.

- Because he is so horrible.

Yeah, I understand.

Well, I've given him a sedative now,

so that he can sleep.

what the world's coming to.

Yeah?

I mean, here of all places.

I mean, a stabbing.

[Adam] Mm.

[man] He was

he was such a nice chap.

Yes, uh, he's a a decent, decent lad.

Did you know him?

Oh, yes.

And he lived in that house there.

Christoffer was a good lad,

and he always said hello

when he saw you, you know?

I'll tell you what.

But, um. I'll always remember

the cries that night.

They chilled me

to the marrow.

So, you you heard it all, then?

Oh. Yes.

Yeah, yeah. It's hard to sleep at night,

so I was awake and

Uh, so did you see it too?

Uh, no. No.

But I heard it.

And and I saw the girl

earlier that evening.

You you saw the girl?

Yeah. Light hair and a tattoo here.

Here on her arm.

But then, she she was here quite often.

You know what,

I think she was his, um, girlfriend.

Well, the investigation

has been scandalously dealt with.

Prosecution and police

are locked firmly on Stella.

The evidence is weak,

though they have lately discovered

a shoe print

that they now suspect

is from Stella's shoe.

But there are lots of young people

these days who wear that style of shoe.

I mean, at least half

of Stella's friends wear those trainers.

[Mikael] Mm. And there's a witness

who saw Stella that evening,

outside Olsen's house.

The same witness had seen her there

a number of times.

- What has this

- W wait a second, Adam.

The autopsy report says

that Christoffer Olsen had

pepper spray in his eyes

of pepper spray when she was arrested.

Did you know she carried one?

but studied here in Lund.

Made a fair sum of money

dabbling in cryptocurrency,
