My show wasn't a failed
talk show.
I was a filler for somebody else
who was taken off the air.
And I think I did a bang-up job
for a couple months.

for a surrogate.
This process now, it's like
interviewing all these people
and thinking, like, okay,
like, how do you know?
It's just, like,
you just got to go.
You got to find someone and go
with it, you got to commit.
I do.
A few months ago, Tristan
and I made embryos,
and during that time
I was also told that
I would not be smart if I
carried my second pregnancy...
I would be high risk...
And to explore
surrogacy options.
So Tristan and I have decided
that's what we're gonna do.
I have a surrogate agent
who is, you know,
sort of filtering through
who they think might be
the best fit for me
and my family.
It is a-a big commitment,
and you want to find
the right fit.
- But we got this. We got this.

It's a new chapter.
We'll get through this together.
We're a team.

It's weird because, like,
some of the portfolios
that I'm reading, like,
you're gonna think I'm nuts,
but I just don't like
some of their answers.

I feel like it's gonna
make your baby, like, anxious
Like, True is, like,
so chill 'cause, like,
I really was, like,
so calm during my pregnancy.
I don't think any of that.
I do. I really do.
But I'm the one that's had two,
- and had two with the surrogate.
- I know.
So you should, like,
listen to me.
But I think I'll also
find someone
that I just like,
at the same time, faster.
Mine was quick.
I just picked and went with it.
Obviously, if everyone
around you on the whole team
is telling you that
these are amazing options,
you have to go with that.
I am so excited
for True to have a sibling.
I do want them
to be close in age.
Kim has been through
the surrogacy process twice.
She made it seem
so seamless, so easy.
So I'm hoping this experience
goes quickly for me, too,
and soon I can give True
a brother or sister.
But I am a big person, like,
I do have to meet you
in order to, like,
finally sign off.
I never met either one of them.
No, I met the first one.
The second one, I was like,
"You're good." [chuckles]

The first time we had
the first surrogate over
for dinner with her kids.

before we started this show,

And then when I started
seeing it being a horrible time,

and my schedule changing,
it took a lot on me.
And then, before you knew it,
I was in a rehab center
because I was thinking about
too many things in my past,
and I felt like I was gonna,
like, go out of control
without the same structure.

I do think we'd have to
schedule dinners.

Maybe once every two weeks.

So you can understand my fear
of now everything stopping
is scary to me.
I definitely don't like change,
and I definitely don't like
that that structure is gonna
be pulled away from me.

what's involved
when hiring a surrogate.

So who initiated
creating your family
with the help of a surrogate?
I think I definitely
initiated it.
I have been told that I will be
a high risk, um, to carry.
And so, I have been instructed
to go the surrogacy route.
And Tristan, luckily, was
on board and felt comfortable.
I think more so because he saw
my sister go through it.
Yeah. It made us feel
more comfortable.
Yeah, I think it helps
that you guys
have the experience
in your family.
What qualities are you looking
for in a surrogate?
I am a big believer that how you
are when you're carrying a baby,
that you can put that energy
to give it to a child.
Yeah. The more positive, happy,
I feel like that energy just,
for the baby,
it's just, it's just better.
ADAM:
These questions you might
find uncomfortable,
but they're important.
What are your beliefs
about fetal reduction
or termination of pregnancy
due to multiple pregnancies,
say, the embryo splitting,
if the surrogate was
carrying twins suddenly?
If we are blessed
to have multiples,
- we think that's in God's will,
so we're on board with that.
- Mm-hmm.
And what if your surrogate
wasn't on board with that?
Um, but don't they have to kind
of go with what our wishes are?
ADAM:
Well, it's your baby,
but it's her body,
so she could terminate
the pregnancy
with any unplanned outcome.

it would be something

I should have twins,

But the therapist said it's
my baby but it's their body.
- If that makes sense.

That's crazy.
It's just scary.
Like, hearing
a lot of those things,
- I'm like, "Oh, my gosh."
- Yeah.
Like, it's... it's...
Kim just made this seem
so seamless, and I don't...
maybe for her it really was.
- I think she's way less...
- I just...
-micromanage-y than I am.
The process seems a little bit
overwhelming for Khloe,
and, honestly, Kim always
made it seem so easy
and really never shared
some of these things with me,
so I'm as surprised as they are
to hear some of the challenges.
KHLOE:
They say, like, the hardest part
about surrogacy is the trust.
You're essentially trusting
someone that you've never met.
"Here, take True for a year,
and I'm gonna trust
"you're gonna bring her back
perfect and
- Yeah.
- Supremely healthy."
So what's the next step?
[chuckles] Crying.
Oh, don't cry.
I think that
if Khloe had her way,
she would obviously
want to carry her own baby,
because I think that
pregnancy is so amazing,
and I know how much
she enjoyed it
and was obsessed
with having True.
But I'm just happy
that there's an alternative.
Well... I know
it's all gonna work out
the way it's supposed to,
and I just think
we have to pray about it
and really just, you know...
...give it all to God,
because it's really up to Him.
It's way... more overwhelming
- than I thought
this process was.

This whole process
is incredibly nerve-racking.
It's also confusing.
It definitely makes me
think about other options more.
I'm starting to wonder
if surrogacy is really
gonna work for me and my family.
- But it's quite scary.

For me, this process
has been so different
than the journey with True,
because I like
to control things,
I like to plan things,
and not being able to
makes me very nervous.
But I'm hoping
my surrogate broker can help
clarify a few things,
because I just don't know
if I'm ever gonna be able
to find a surrogate I can trust.
So I have a question.
When I met with the therapist,
something that he said I didn't
even know was an option.
He said, "So what happens
if there's... duplicates?"
Not duplicates.
If there's multiples.
"It's your baby but her body,
and she has the right
to get an abortion."
You know, this is definitely
way more detailed and rigorous,
and we have lawyers
and contracts
and all these things involved,
so there's a different element
to this experience.
It's not bad or good. It's
just... it's almost scarier.
- KHLOE: Okay.
- Are you done?
She said you can't force someone
what to do with their body.
- Mm-hmm.
- That freaked me out.
Yeah.
But she said, "You do..."
Things are in writing, like,
on what my wishes are, and,
like, you ask them that...
-And they agree to it.
-...first, and they agree to it
with two witnesses:
her agent, my agent.
Then, once I pick the person,
then it's in legal writing.
So I feel better, but, still,
I just don't like
talking about this,
'cause I feel like I'm talking
about only negative things.
