Hey, wait for me!

Coach Pigeon: All right, cadets,

in today's class we're gonna take on

the obstacle course!

Oh, yeah!

I can't wait!

Ha-ha-ha! Wow, that is so cool!

Uh, what's an obstacle course, Coach?

It's a series of physical challenges, Hawk.

The course will train you to get over, under, around,

and through all kinds of obstacles.

It's full of twists and turns and some unexpected surprises...

just like space!

So strap on your nose cones, Space Racers,

you may experience some turbulence up ahead.

Yeah! Let's do this!

Hmm...

Well, uh...

okay.

Come on, come on, come on!

I've got a need for speed!

And go!

[blows whistle]

Za-Za-Zooooom!

Ughhh!

Ughhh! Hawk!

Hey buddy, you okay?

Unhh! My body's too big to fit through this thing, Eagle.

C'mon, Hawky, you can do it!

Ha-ha! Nice try, Coach.

Ha-ha! Outta my way, slow pokes!

That which does not stop me only makes me faster!

Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!

Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!

Whoa! Whoa!

Whoooa!

Yeah! The Eagle has landed!

[blows whistle]

Hey, where's Hawk?

Aaaah!

Hey, Hawk, you got

a little something stuck on your...uh...

[sighs] Okay.

Ava: Enhanced gravity on.

[crash]

It's okay, buddy.

You'll get the hang of it.

Eagle, Robyn, Hawk,

your assignment will be

to bring back our freighter ships from Lunar Base One.

They're carrying rocks from the far side of the Moon.

Headmaster Crane,

what's so important about a bunch of rocks?

Can anyone answer Cadet Hawk's question?

Robyn: Sure!

Many moon rocks contain rare metals

from meteoroids that crashed into the Moon

and we can learn a lot by studying them here on Earth!

Precisely, Cadet Robyn.

Some of these metals can even be used in our electronic systems.

Once you reach the Moon,

you'll be using our new Lunar Elevator

to lift the freighters up into space!

Even though the Moon has much lower gravity,

we still use a lot of fuel to lift off.

The Lunar Elevator will help us save all that fuel.

Eagle: Wow! That's cool!

Eagle, Robyn, Hawk,

now, you lift off tomorrow morning,

so study hard and get a good night's sleep.

I don't need to study.

I can lead a convoy on autopilot.

Actually, I'm making Hawk mission leader on this one.

Huh?

ButI wanna lead the mission.

I've never used the Lunar Elevator before!

You'll be there too, Eagle.

But it's Hawk's turn to lead a mission.

Um...it is?

That doesn't make any sense.

I'm the fastest ship in the Academy!

And I've navigated that route more than anyone else in class.

He's got a point, Coach Pigeon.

I've still got meteoroids in my intake vents.

Ah-chooo!

Heh-heh. You'll do fine

if you just believe in yourself!

Robyn: How are you feeling, Hawk?

Pretty good.

I went over the mission briefing a dozen times.

I know the plan inside and out.

Good. You can do this.

I believe in you, and so should you.

Thanks, Robyn.

If you need me to help,

just say the word, Hawk.

Uh, thanks, Eagle.

Don't worry.

He's perfectly capable

of leading this mission on his own.

Oh, I know he is.

But I just want him to know

that I'm ready and willing to help

when he needs it.

You mean if he needs it.

Which he won't.

Of course not.

But if he does...

[beeping]

Ava: Launch sequence initiated.

, , , , .

Primary ignition.

Booster rockets?

Engaged!

Wings?Back!

Space visors?Down!

Wooo-Hoooo!!

Escape velocity!

Breaking orbit!

I want to be in zero G!

Ava: Space Racers are away.

They are no longer bound

by Earth's gravitational field.

Eagle: Yee-ha!!!

Okay, um, let's see...

first, I've plotted the course to Lunar One,

which you should see on your instrument panels.

Hey, guess what? I know a shortcut

that'll cut two hours off the trip!

Eagle, we don't want to interfere.

I'm not interfering.

Am I interfering?Well...

See?

Ava: Approaching a meteoroid stream directly ahead.

Copy that, Ava. Adjusting course.

Oh, come on, guys. A little meteoroid stream can't stop us!

We can fly right through all that.

No, let's follow Hawk's lead.

He's in charge today, remember?

Oh, okay.

Yeah!

Good work, Mission Leader!

Mission leader reporting in.

We have landed at Lunar Base One,

preparing to inspect the convoy.

Roger that, mission leader.

Hmm. These light Moon rocks over here are anorthosite rocks,

and these darker ones are called basalt.

Those are filled with iron, and iron absorbs light.

Very cool!

Mission Control, Moon rocks are all safely stowed away.

I'd say we're about ready to go.

Hey, buddy,

while you report to Mission Control,

it'll save time if I help

lead the freighters onto the Lunar Elevator.

Eagle, we know you mean well,

but Hawk's doing a great job as mission leader.

Please, just let him lead!

I am letting him lead!

I'm only trying to help.

I wouldn't help him if I didn't care.

You think you're "helping" him,

but it's more like you're trying to do his job!

Okay, okay.

Robyn: What's next, mission leader?

All right, the mission briefing

says we should gather the freighters

onto the Lunar Elevator platform

to conserve fuel.

So hop on, everybody!

All aboard the Lunar Elevator!

Great job, everybody! Now follow my lead

and we'll get you safely back to Earth in no time.

Hey, Hawk, you're doin' a great job.

Really great!

Um, thanks, Eagle.

Say, could you please move outta my way...

But we could be going a little faster.

We're five hours behind my record

and we're not even close to the halfway point.

Eagle, I can't see where we're going!

But we could make up some time if you let me lead.

Will you please just leave me alone already?

What's gotten into you?

I'm tired of your suggestions

and trying to be the boss of me!

C'mon, I'm just trying to help you

be a better mission leader.

He alreadyis a good mission leader!

But...but I could have been to the Moon and back

twenty times by now.

It's not a race!

Ava: Warning! Course has deviated

from scheduled flight plan.

I can't just sit still.

Don't you understand?

I've got a need for speed.

I have to push my engines to the max.

I have to feel the wind on my wings!

Eagle, that's enough.

There's no wind in space!

You know what I mean!

Ava: Danger! Course has deviated

from flight path.

[thump]Huh? What was that?

Ava: Meteoroid stream directly ahead.

Robyn: Oh no! Not again!

Quick! Turn around! Can't!

The meteoroids are everywhere!

The freighters are getting hit!

They're just tiny rocks.

But there are tons of them!

We're in big trouble!

You distracted me! Ouch!

You wouldn't...ouch! ...stop talking!

I couldn't pay... ow...pay attention,

and couldn't see where we were going!

This is all your fault!

My fault?

You're the leader!

Guys, this is no time to argue.

We have to save the convoy!

Eagle: I could fly us out of here in a flash,

but these freighters are too big and bulky!

Like me.

Look, I... I'm sorry I didn't let you just do your thing.

Robyn was right -- you can lead this mission.

It was my fault we got into this mess!

Thanks, Eagle. But I wasn't saying

I'm big and bulky 'cause I'm sad -- uhh! --

I'm saying it because I've got an idea.

Everyone, line up behind me in a single file!

I'll shield you from the meteoroids!

Robyn: Look, he's using his strong body

like an umbrella!

Eagle: Hawk, you're a genius!

Arranging the freighters in a row behind you protects all of them!

Ava: Clearing the meteoroid field

in , , , , .

Yesss!!!

Way to go, buddy! You did it!!

I knew you could do it!

Report, cadet.

Mission leader reporting in.

Anorthosite and basalt Moon rocks delivered safe and sound!

I'm sorry I doubted you,

and I'm sorry I messed up the mission.

But you really came through.

You did a great job leading us,

and only you could have protected everyone like that

so we got home safely!

Good job, Hawk.

I mean, "Mission Leader."
