-[SINGING] It's a beautiful
day in this neighborhood,

a beautiful day for a neighbor.

Would you be mine?

Could you be mine?

It's a neighborly
day in this beauty

wood, a neighborly
day for a beauty.

Would you be mine?

Could you be mine?

I have always wanted to have
a neighbor just like you.

I've always wanted to live
in a neighborhood with you.

So, let's make the most
of this beautiful day.

Since we're together, we might
as well say, would you be mine?

Could you be mine?

Won't you be my neighbor?

Won't you please,
won't you please,

please won't you be my neighbor?

Hello, neighbor.

Do you know who I am?

I'm still Mr. Rogers, even
when I wear dark glasses.

You know, some very
little children

get quite upset when they see
their mother or father wearing

something that's very different
from what they usually wear.

Those little children
are afraid it's

a different person
they're seeing.

You see?

I'm still myself with the
dark glasses on, and off.

Now, here's something else
that I'd like you to see.

This is called a wig.

Um-hum.

And some people wear them
to change the way they look.

You see?

It's the same thing as
with the dark glasses.

I'm still myself with the
wig or without the wig.

I'm still myself inside.

[SINGING] I can put on
a hat, or put on a coat,

or wear a pair of glasses,
or sail in a boat.

I can change all my names
and fine a place to hide.

I can do almost anything,
but I'm still myself inside.

I can go far away, or
dream anything, or wear

a scary costume,
or act like a king.

I can change all my names
and find a place to hide.

I can do almost anything,
but I'm still myself,

I'm still myself, I'm
still myself inside.

Still myself, even
with the dark glasses.

[KNOCK ON DOOR]

Let's see who that is.

Still myself-- oh,
it's Marilyn Barnett.

Marilyn, come in.

-Hi, Fred.

How are you doing?

-I'm great.

How are you?

-Great.

I'm in between
classes, and I thought

you might like to
do some exercises?

-I sure would.

-Great.

-Please, come on inside.

Or should we do them
here or outside?

-I have one I'd
like to do inside.

-Good.

Where?

Do you want to sit
down, stand up?

-Let's sit down over here.

-First of all, I have
something I'd like to show you.

That looks like sunglasses.

Can I try them on?

-You certainly may.

-A wig.

How do I look?

-You look great.

But you're still yourself.

-Yes, I am.

-No matter what you're wearing.

-No matter what I wear.

-Uh-huh.

Now, you said we'll sit
down for the exercise?

-Let's try sitting
down over here.

-It's what I've been telling
my friends, you know,

that it doesn't matter what
you wear or where you are,

you're still yourself inside.

-That's right, that's right.

-Now, what do we do?

-This exercise we can do indoors
because we're sitting down.

Let's starts stretching
down to the floor.

Feel that stretch
across your back?

-Yes, I do.

-And then move up.

Place your hands
on your shoulders,

and then stretch--
stretch all the way up.

Now tilt.

Follow me.

Back to the center.

And tilt to the left,
and back to center.

Move the arms back down to
the floor, all the way down.

-All the way down to the floor?

-Stretch.

You feel it across the back.

-Uh-huh.

-Then back to the shoulders.

Stretch all the way
up to the ceiling.

Tilt right.

Feel that stretch.

-Uh-huh.

-Back to the center.

Left.

-Can you do some of it?

-Back to the center.

Let's try it one more time.

-Clear to the floor.

-All the way down to
the floor, and let's

hold it a few seconds, and feel
that stretch across the back.

Then up to the shoulders.

Place your hands-- now
this time, way up, stretch.

That's great.

Stretch right, little
tilt, not too far over.

Back to center, and
left, and back to center.

How'd you like that?

-Whoo!

That's a real stretch.

That's good.

-Great.

I have a couple I'd
like to try outside.

-Good, we'll do it.

-Oh, you had some
balls out here.

-Yes, I brought two
balls along, but we

can only use the balls outdoors.

OK.

-I'm going to give
you this ball, Fred.

-All right.
-And I'll take this one.

-What are going to do with them?

-Al we're going to do
is start from the center

and stretch around.

-Oh.

-Standing straight.

Stretch your arms in back, and
bring it back to the front.

Stretch the ball.

You can use any size ball,
normally a small ball

if you have small hands.

And back to the front.

Great.

Now over the head.

We're going to do the same
exercise we did indoors.

-All right.

-Similar.

We're going to tilt right.

Good.

And center.

Left.

And center.

Again, right.

Great job.

Center.

And then left.

And center.

Great!

Now our last
exercise, we're going

to try to do some
exercise that requires

to really study the ball.

It's eye-hand coordination.

Just little, small bounces.

Real small.

The ball serves as
a little weight.

It will strengthen our arms.

Let's try it on the other side.

Sometimes you can try-- let's
try the center for a minute.

-OK.

-We'll have better
control like this.

Not too high.

-Oops!

-That's it, that's good.

-Hey, look who's over there.

-Bow Trow!

-Hey, Bob.

-Hi, Bob.

-I was hoping to find
you two together.

-Great.

We're doing some exercises.

-I see that.

-Um, I finally
finished it, Marilyn.

-It looks great, doesn't it?

-You did her portrait.

-Yep.

-Oh, it looks just like you.

-Certainly does.

-Two Marilyn Barnetts
right together.

-There you go.

-I have on something
different today,

but I'm still Marilyn Barnett.

-You sure are.

-You sure are.

That's wonderful.

-You're such a talented artist.

Thank you very much, Bob.

-You're welcome.

-I'm getting ready
to go back to school.

Would you go with
me so I can show

the who painted this portrait?

-Oh, sure.

-Great!

-I always like school.

I'll be glad to.

-Thank you.

-Your students are
mighty fortunate to have

both of you coming.

-Thanks.

-Thank for coming by.

-Bye.

-See you, Fred.

-Goodbye.

I hope you have
some good friends.

That's one of the best
things in the world,

having friends who
care about you.

Yep.

Let's have some make believe.

Hey, Trolley.

-[RINGING AND WHISTLING]

-Our friends in the
Neighborhood of Make Believe

have been trying to find
Purple Panda because there's

a mysterious package
waiting to be given to him.

Let's think more about
that as the Trolley

goes into the Neighborhood
if Make Believe.

-[RINGING AND WHISTLING]

[RINGING AND WHISTLING]

-Oh.

Hi, Trolley.

Didn't you recognize me?

-[RINGING AND WHISTLING]

-Yes, it is.

I am Lady Aberlin, always
was, always will be.

-[RINGING AND WHISTLING]

-Oh, I know.

I've been away for a
few days, and I thought

I'd just try it like
this for a change.

-[RINGING AND WHISTLING]

-Oh, I hope so.

You too!

I think I'll go
visit Daniel Tiger.

[HORNS BLOWING]

But it seems that
first I'll hear

what Uncle Friday has to say.

[HORNS BLOWING]

-Uh, castle newcomer, I presume?

-Not correct as usual, sire.

-Well then, who are you?

-I'm your niece, Uncle Friday.

-You sound like my niece,
but you don't look like her.

Are you an impostor?

-No, my-- my hair just
looks different today.

-We'll see about that.

Here are some questions.

What is my wife's name?

-Queen Sara Saturday.

I call here Aunt Sara.

-My son's name?

-Prince Tuesday.

-My chef's name?

-Edgar Cooke.

-The name of my castle
room where I juggle?

-The J Room.

-And my real niece's full name?

-Lady Betty K Aberlin.

-You seem to know enough, but
you still look very different.

Uh, we'll keep an eye on you.

Farewell, niece, I guess.

-Oh-- farewell, Uncle
Friday, I'm sure.

Oh, I-- I wonder if
Daniel will notice.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

-Oh, hi, Robert Troll.

-Well, hi there, uh,
uh-- Lady Aberlin,

is that you underneath
all that stuff?

-It surely is.

I was beginning
to wonder myself.

-Yeah.

-Oh, what's that
you have with you?

-Oh, this?

It's just-- it's just
something [GIBBERISH].

I've got to find a package
that looks like one of these.

-Oh.

Well, they're all
the same shape.

-Uh-huh.

-But they look very
different on the outside.

-Yes, I know, [GIBBERISH].

-Well, what's
inside the package?

-Nobody seems to know.

[GIBBERISH] I'm not going
to worry about that.

You see, I just
have to find one.

-Oh, well, I'll let
you know if I see it.

-OK. [GIBBERISH]
You're a good friend

with lots of hair, Lady Aberlin.

[LAUGHTER]

-And you're a good friend with
lots of joy, Robert Troll.

-I have plenty to spare
and plenty to [GIBBERISH].

And plenty of joy,
just like your hair.

-Oh!

A troll poet in
this neighborhood.

-Yes, yes.

-Well, happiness to you.

-Happiness to you and
your life ahead, my dear.

-Oh, ditto.

-[TOGETHER] Doot!

-I hope you find the package.

-I'll sure try, give it my best.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

DANIEL: Hello?

Hello, who's there?

-It's your friend, Lady Aberlin.

DANIEL: Oh, good.

Oh, no!

-What's wrong?

-Why-- why did you say
you were Lady Aberlin?

Why were you teasing me?

I wanted to see Lady Aberlin.

Now she's not here.

Who are you, anyway?

-Daniel, I'm sorry
I made you sad.

-You sound like Lady A.

-I'm sorry that I scared you.

-You say words like Lady A.

-Oh, Daniel, let me
give you an ugga mugga.

-Uh-- how do you know
about ugga muggas?

-How do you think I know?

-Oh!

Because you really are Lady A.

-That's right.

-Even with that
fancy hair and all.

-Even with this fancy hair.

-You're really
Lady A underneath.

-I really am.

-Oh, I'm so relieved.

In face, I could
hardly wait to see you.

Have you been away?

-Well, yes, just for a few days.

I had my hair done in
another neighborhood.

-Oh, that's why.

Anyway, I want to show you
something somebody made for me.

-Something good?

-Oh, yes.

Just wait right here.

-Sure.

-Oh, I forgot to ask
you if you have time.

-I do.

-Good.

I'll be back in a minute.

-All right.

-[SINGING] I like someone.

Do you know who?

Yes, I like someone who looks
like and sounds like you.

-Here it is.

-Oh, it's beautiful.

-Yes.

-It's a 143.

-That's right.

-Is that your address here?

-Oh, no.

It-- it means something special.

-143?

-Um-hum.

It means I love you.

-I love you?

How do you figure that out?

-Oh, my friend told me how.

You see, "I" is one letter,
and "love," L-O-V-E,

is four letters, and "you,"
Y-O-U, is three letters.

-Oh.

I--

-Uh-huh.

-love--

-Uh-huh.

-you.

-That's it.

-I see.

-143, same to you, Lady Aberlin.

-Oh, Daniel.

[SINGING] I love
someone, do you know who?

Yes, I love someone who
looks like and sounds like,

who tells me things
like 143, like you.

-I'll put this on
my wall, and you

can come and see it any time.

-Well, the best part will
be knowing it right in here.

-143, Lady A.

-143, Daniel T.

-Bye.

-Bye.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Hi, Robert Troll.

-Hi, Lady A. [GIBBERISH]

-Yeah.

Did you find your package?

-Well, [GIBBERISH].

Somebody said that they
think it's in the P Room.

P for Package, in the
castle. [GIBBERISH]

So that's why drawings in
the-- with the [GIBBERISH].

So that should help, I guess.

I hope so.

-Oh, yes, I'm sure it will.

You are such a special
troll, Robert Troll.

-Yeah?

-143.

-Oh, OK, [GIBBERISH].

Ah, wait, wait.

[GIBBERISH]

-It's something Daniel
Tiger knows all about.

-Oh, good.

Well then, I'll ask Danny
when we get down there.

-[TOGETHER] Doot!

-143.

-143.

-That's right.

-143, got it.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

-Oh, Lacy Aberlin, I'm
so glad you're back.

-143, Aunt Sara.

-Is that how long
you've been gone?

-Not exactly.

It's something
Daniel Tiger told me.

-143.

That sounds lovely.

I'll ask him about that.

Right now, I need
to talk with you

about the package
for Purple Panda.

Suppose we go to the P Room?

I'd like your advice.

-Oh, I'll be glad to.

I'll be right in, Aunt Sara.

-Thank you, thank you.

-[RINGING AND WHISTLING]

-You too, Trolley.

-[RINGING AND WHISTLING]

-Maybe next time, we can find
the package and Purple Panda.

I loved what Daniel's
friend gave him.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

I think I'm going to make
one of those for you.

[SINGING] There are many
ways to say "I love you."

There are many ways to
say "I care about you."

Many ways, many ways, many
ways to say "I love you."

There's the 143 way
to say "I love you."

There's the 143 way to
say "I care about you."

say "I love you."

Cleaning up a room
can say "I love you."

Hanging up a coat before
you're asked to do it.

Drawing special pictures for
the holidays and making plays.

You'll find many ways
to say "I love you."

You'll find many ways to
understand what love is.

Many ways, many ways, many
ways to say "I love you."

You know, there's
a lighthouse south

of the Boston Harbor
called Minot's Ledge Light.

As it flashes, it flashes
one time, then four times,

then three times, so it's
always flashing its light 143.

I love you.

I like to find out
things like that,

and I like to share
them with you.

Here's some fish
who need some food.

This is another way
of saying I love

you, giving food to animals.

[KNOCK AT DOOR]

-Oh, there's
somebody at the door.

Let's see who that is.

It's somebody we
love, Mr. McFeely.

Come in, Mr. McFeely.

-Speedy Delivery,
Speedy Delivery.

-I don't think I
ordered anything.

-Well, I know you
didn't order anything,

but I have this videotape
here, and I made it myself.

-Oh, is it a Funny Fast Film?

-Well, it's, uh, fast,
but it's not funny

because it shows people
working, working hard,

to set up the television house.

-You mean in here?

-In here, this television house.

This is what this video shows.

And you'll see a-- a wall
coming in, and maybe this wall

coming in, and all
going together.

-Oh, I'd like very
much to see that.

-Picture Picture, we
can show it on there.

-Oh, we can?

-And that takes a long time
to do, to set all of this up.

-Yes.

-What I did was speeded
it up a little bit,

so it'll seem like it
comes together faster.

-But that's why
it's a Fast Film.

-That's why it's a Fast Film.

Now, you'll see as we watch it.

-Oh, thank you for
that, Mr. McFeely.

-Well, I thought you'd enjoy it.

-Oh, I will.

-I enjoy making tapes.

-Good for you.

Well, let's watch Mr. McFeely's
film about people setting up

this particular
television house.

MR. MCFEELY: There's
the empty studio.

MR. ROGERS: Oh, and
here comes a wall.

And they're bringing
in the-- that's

the closet for this
the sweaters, isn't it?

MR. MCFEELY: That's right.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

MR. ROGERS: That's where
the Trolley comes in.

MR. MCFEELY: Another
wall's coming in.

Now this is the floor.

MR. ROGERS: It takes
a lot of friends

to help set up this
television set.

MR. MCFEELY: It certainly does.

Now this is part
of Picture Picture.

MR. ROGERS: Ah-ha.

Oh, there, I see it.

It reminds me of people
using building blocks.

MR. MCFEELY: Yes, it
does look like that.

MR. ROGERS: There's
part of the kitchen.

MR. MCFEELY: That's the kitchen.

There's the part that
holds the refrigerator.

MR. ROGERS: And there's
the refrigerator.

MR. MCFEELY: That's part of
the kitchen wall, and the door.

MR. ROGERS: Um-hum.

Isn't it fun to see this?

MR. MCFEELY: Yes, it is.

Now we have everything
in the kitchen

except the kitchen
sink, and there it is.

[LAUGHTER]

MR. ROGERS: The traffic light.

MR. MCFEELY: And the sofa.

MR. ROGERS: It's a heavy sofa.

MR. MCFEELY: Takes four
people to lift it up.

Oh, this is the kitchen, the
kitchen table and chairs,

I believe.

MR. ROGERS: Some pictures
for the walls, and the fish.

MR. MCFEELY: The
fish are coming in.

MR. ROGERS: The
fish are walking in.

MR. MCFEELY: Oh, the Trolley
is going onto the tracks.

Another picture.

And the lights come up.

-Oh, Mr. McFeely, what
an interesting film.

-Well, I thought you'd enjoy it.

-Yes, to see all of
those things coming in.

Ah!

I love that delivery.

-It takes a lot of people
to set this set up.

-Oh, it certainly does.

-I like making tapes, and
I like making deliveries.

[SINGING] If there's anything
you want, if there's anything

you need, Mr. McFeely's
Delivery brings

it to you here with speed.

Yes, our Speedy Deliveries
are speedy deliveries.

Speedy Delivery to you.

Speedy Delivery, there you go.

-Thank you, Mr. McFeely.

Would you wait here
just one second?

I'd like to give you something.

-All right.

-Just one minute.

-[HUMMING] Speedy
Delivery to you.

Speedy Delivery--

-This is a kind of code that
we've just found out about.

-A code.

Well, I think I'll take this
home and give it to Betsy.

-It's all yours.

-It's my delivery
to Betsy today.

A delivery to you, and
a delivery to Betsy.

Well, Speedy Delivery!

See you around the neighborhood.

-Thank you again.

-143.

-143, Mr. McFeely.

-Bye.

-Thank you.

We've had lots of good
visits today, haven't we?

And explaining things is another
way of saying I love you,

and coming back to visit
each day is yet another way.

Oh, there's so many ways.

You'll find them.

You'll find them as you grow.

Many ways to say 143.

[SINGING] It's such a good
feeling to know you are alive.

It's such a happy feeling
you're growing inside.

And when you wake
up ready to say,

I think I'll make
a snappy new day.

It's such a good feeling,
a very good feeling,

the feeling you know that I'll
be back when the day is new,

and I'll have more ideas to you.

And you'll have things
you'll want to talk about.

I will, too.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

You always make each
day such a special day.

You know how?

By just your being you.

Um-hm.

There's only one person in this
whole world exactly like you,

and that's you yourself.

And people can like
you exactly as you are.

I'll be back next time.
