NARRATOR:Collinwood in the year ,

a time of terror and intrigue,

when all who entered the Great House were affected

by the evil of Count Petofi.

On this night, Quentin Collins is aware

that something strange and frightening

is happening to him, and he has desperately

tried to find out what it is,

but there is only one man who knows

what his ultimate fate will be, Count Petofi himself.

Now, in an abandoned mill not far from the Collins' estate,

he will enter into a strange ritual,

which could be the beginning of the end for Quentin Collins.

[ eerie music ]

Quentin Collins, your will must bend to mine.

And there shall be no resistance.

For I am the fire in the air.

The water in the earth.

I am the light of all the stars.

Listen and you shall hear the rustling

of leaves in a thousand trees,

telling you that the winds of change

have come upon you.

So it is.

And so it shall be

forever more.

[ eerie chiming orchestral music ]

[ daunting, dramatic orchestral music ]

[ waves splashing ]

[ daunting, eerie orchestral music ]

[ eerie chiming music ]

Well you might as well sit down and relax.

We're gonna be here for some time.

We have our orders.

We can't leave that door unguarded.

How long will this take him?

Possibly all night.

How will you know when it's over?

Well you're not getting impatient, are you?

No.

Well then sit down and relax.

When it's over, you'll know it.

[ eerie, clattering and chiming music ]

[ daunting orchestral music ]

QUENTIN: It all began when I was asleep.

Petofi put me to sleep.

And when I woke up,

I was wearing this.

But why did he put it on me?

And why can't I get it off?

Oh it has to have something to do with

what's happening to me, but what?

What?

[ dramatic, daunting orchestral music ]

[ knocking ]

[ knocking ]

MAGDA: Oh Quentin, I'm glad you're--

Now you stay away from me, gypsy.

Now don't you come near me, do you hear?

MAGDA: I'm still not really sure.

No, I know what you want,

but you're not gonna get it.

What are you talkin' about?

No.

It's mine.

And it's going to stay mine.

Quentin?

Quentin, something happened to you.

Tell me, tell me. Oh, tell Magda.

Magda,

when did you come in?

MAGDA: When?

Yes.

MAGDA: Just a minute ago.

You let me in the door.

Quentin, what's the matter? What happened?

I don't know.

I don't know.

Quentin, when you let me in the door,

you saw me and you looked scared, why?

Magda, it's no use asking questions

because I don't know the answers.

MAGDA: Quentin.

Quentin, that ring.

That ring belongs to Count Petofi.

- How did you get-- - Now leave me alone, please.

Quentin.

Quentin, he's trying to use you.

You got to take it off.

Look, I tried and it won't come off.

Now he's too powerful for us.

No one can do anything to fight him.

[ daunting orchestral music ]

BETH: Can you hear anything?

What exactly is Count Petofi doing in there?

You haven't been with Count Petofi long enough

to be taken into his confidence.

Especially in a matter as vital as this.

Why is this so vital to him?

You'll find out before this night is over.

Is Quentin going to die?

[ laughing ]

No, but before this night is through,

I suspect he'll wish he had died.

Do I detect a note of concern for Quentin Collins?

Of course not.

I pledged my loyalty to Count Petofi,

and I believe I deserve to know what's going to happen.

I'll tell you one thing, Beth,

I'll give you one small, little clue.

Then it's up to you to figure it out.

Fair enough?

- Yes. - Good.

Then give your imagination free rein.

Try to see a man experiencing something

far worse than death.

Try and think

of the most diabolical,

the most terrifying thing that can happen

to a human being.

And that's what'll happen to Quentin tonight.

from some small concern for Quentin?

I feel no concern whatsoever.

[ daunting, dramatic orchestral music ]

[ bell ringing ]

[ humming song ]

[ eerie chiming ]

[ coughing ]

[ knocking ]

Quentin Collins, of all people.

And what brings you here at this night hour?

- How'd I get here? - I don't know love,

but you're timing's bloody awful.

what's going to happen to Quentin tonight?

Quentin deserves whatever is going to happen.

[ laughing ]

QUENTIN:Beth, I'm sorry, I'm truly sorry.

I wanted to tell you.

I tried, but I couldn't find the strength.

I know you can't understand this.

BETH: I'm not obligated to answer that.

You ain't mixed up with Petofi?

I'm working for him.

You crazy.

BETH: Magda, you must go away and stay away.

I got to talk to Petofi.

That's impossible, he's busy.

MAGDA: Doin' what?

Magda, for your own good, go.

It's got somethin' to do with Quentin, ain't it?

Listen, Beth... Beth I saw Quentin before.

Something happened to him.

Somethin' that scared me.

I got to talk to Petofi.

I have strict orders not to let anyone in.

MAGDA: I know Quentin don't mean nothin' to you no more,

but he is in danger.

[ daunting music ]

QUENTIN:Beth, I know you can't understand this.

ARISTEDE:Try and think of the most diabolical

and then you'll know what's going to happen

to Quentin tonight.

MAGDA:I know Quentin don't mean nothin' to you

- No! No! - Be quiet, you fool.

[ eerie jazz horn and chiming music ]

Oh, Quentin, you must wake up.

They're trying to do something dreadful to you.

And I don't know what it is.

But you must wake up before it happens.

Before it's too late.
