ALMA: Today is my favorite holiday, Noche Buena...

Christmas eve!

ALMA: And everyone is getting ready to celebrate...

their own holiday traditions...

ANDRÉ: Yessss, got the macaroni for my dad's famous

Christmas mac-and-cheese!

BECKA: Sweet!

I've got potatoes for my mom's dee-licious latkes!

Gotta go. Happy Hanukkah!

KIDS: Happy Hanukkah!

Merry Christmas!

[chuckle]

MAMI: Almita, ready to go home?

ALMA: Yep, let's go Mami!

[♪♪♪]

ALMA: Hi Papi.

Oh, it looks great!

PAPI: Oh, thanks Alma.

[Chacho barks] ALMA: Hi Chacho!

ALMA: My favorite part of Noche Buena is that every year

my family has the same three traditions!

JUNIOR: Hey Alma.

ALMA: Hey Junior.

JUNIOR: Santaroarus and I are ready to make our ornament!

Roarrrrr!

Merrrry Christmas!

ALMA: [giggle] Tradition number one...

Junior and I make a new Christmas tree ornament!

Like this cuatro and this coquí.

ALMA: This year we decided to make a star ornament.

ALMA: Tradition number two...

Eddie plays his guitar and we sing aguinaldos.

Our Puerto Rican Christmas carols.

Hey Eddie, can you play my favorite aguinaldo?

EDDIE: You bet, Alma!

[playing aguinaldo on guitar]

ALMA: Tradition number three:

My favorite one...

when Papi turns on his famous animal lights.

The whole neighborhood loves them.

MAMI: Who wants polvorones?

KIDS: Me! Meee! Me!

PAPI: Oh me!

MAMI: [giggle] Aww...

PAPI: Mmmm, qué rico mi amor!

Well, I think it's time to start our Noche Buena traditions!

KIDS: Yes yes yes yes yes! Woo-hoo!

ALMA: Ready to make an ornament Junior?

JUNIOR: Mhm.

JUNIOR: I'll put some glue here.

ALMA: Let's put a cone here.

JUNIOR: Oops! [giggle]

[♪]

[Chacho growls]

[Chacho barks]

JUNIOR: Chacho, no!

ALMA: Chacho! JUNIOR: Chacho!

JUNIOR: Wait, Chacho!

[♪♪♪]

JUNIOR: [efforts] Give it back boy!

[effort] Give it back...

Ugh! [efforts] Oof!

[Chacho barking]

ALMA: [gasp]

[♪♪♪]

MAMI: Whoooa! Ooh! [chuckle]

Ok, I have it,

ohh, no, I don't have it.

[sigh] There!

JUNIOR: Good catch! ALMA: Thanks, Mami.

MAMI: Well, the good news is that we still have a tree!

[chuckle] Hoo...

[Chacho barking]

ALMA: [gasp]

Our ornament!

And we worked really hard on it.

JUNIOR: Yeah!

ALMA: It's one of our traditions, right Junior?

And now all we have left is this...

blob.

ALMA: Huh... Maybe...

[with funny voice] Hi, I'm the Christmas Blob!

Do you know how these dinosaur footprints got on me?

Blob, blob, blob, blob, bloooob.

KIDS: [laughs]

[♪♪♪]

PAPI: I like it, good job niños!

ALMA: Thanks Papi.

[strumming guitar]

[tunning guitar]

ALMA: Time to sing my favorite aguinaldo!

Hit it, Eddie!

EDDIE: Una, dos, tres.

Hmm?

KIDS: Huh?

EDDIE: It's ok... I'll just grab my spare string.

EDDIE: Uh... Hmm....

No spares, but I can fix it!

I'll just use this toy guitar.

EDDIE: ♪ Noche Buena eh. ♪

♪ I'll still sing my song. ♪

♪ Noche Buena eh. ♪

♪ Though my strings are all gone! ♪

ALMA: Umm, this doesn't sound like my favorite aguinaldo...

PAPI: ♪ Noche Buena eh, I'll dance like a duck. ♪

♪ Noche Buena eh, ♪

♪ ...though my strings lost their pluck! ♪

FAMILY: ♪ Noche Buena Eh! ♪

♪ I'll still sing my song. ♪

♪ Noche Buena eh. ♪

♪ ...though my strings are all gone! ♪

ALMA: Don't worry Junior, nothings going to go wrong

with Papi's lights.

ALMA: I hope...

ALMA: Just wait 'till you see this!

PAPI: Here we go!

Eh... Hang on! Just one second.

PAPI: There!

PAPI: [effort]

Oh, no. It's still too short. Ay yi yi!

We need an extension cord.

ALMA: No!

This is our last Noche Buena tradition...

and it didn't work either!

MAMI: Okay. Let's think.

Where can we find an extension cord on Noche Buena?

FAMILY: Hmm..

ALMA: Huda's Store! PAPI: Huda's Store!

[♪♪♪]

MR. HUDA: I'm sorry, but we're all out of extension cords.

It seemed as though everyone in the neighborhood...

bought one this week.

ALMA: [groans]

JUNIOR: [groans]

MR. HUDA: Here, Junior. This is for you.

JUNIOR: A Christmas lobster!

Hi, Santa-roar-us! Wanna dance?

Doo dooo doo doo dooo!

Thanks, Mr. Huda!

MR. HUDA: You're welcome, Junior.

FAMILY: Good night, Mr. Huda! Take care!

MR. HUDA: Happy holidays!

ALMA: Hey Papi, Mr. Huda said that...

everyone in the neighborhood bought an extension cord.

JUNIOR: So, maybe we could borrow one from someone?

PAPI: Great idea, niños.

ALMA: ...and that's why we need an extension cord.

Do you have one we could borrow?

FRANKIE FOUR FEET: Oh, sorry, we don't.

But... ummm.

We've got Christmas cookies!

ALMA: Oooh, thanks!

Merry Christmas.

ABUELO: Mmm, ah, when I was a boy in Puerto Rico,

my family would go house to house on Noche Buena,

just like this, visiting our neighbors.

And we'd sing aguinaldos.

Ah, those were some good parrandas!

ALMA: C'mon, let's go on a parranda

and look for an extension cord!

[♪♪♪]

MAMI: ♪ Hoy es Nochebuena. ♪

♪ Vamos a celebrar? ♪

EVERYONE: ♪ En esta navidad. ♪

♪ Mucha felicidad. ♪

MAMI: ♪ Del Bronx y Puerto Rico, queremos desear. ♪

EVERYONE: ♪ En esta navidad. ♪

♪ Mucha felicidad. ♪

MAMI: ♪ And all our family is gathered on this night. ♪

EVERYONE: ♪ Come celebrate along. ♪

♪ And sing this joyful song. ♪

MAMI: ♪ To my friends from the Bronx ♪

♪ and those from Puerto Rico. ♪

EVERYONE: ♪ Come celebrate along. ♪

ALMA: [sigh] Papi...

PAPI: Sí, almita?

ALMA: I loved our parranda singing,

but...

PAPI: I know you're disappointed about the lights...

ALMA: ...and our ornament and our aguinaldo.

PAPI: Well, sometimes we can't control the way things work out.

But we can choose what we do with our feelings.

ALMA: Yeah, but we didn't do any our traditions...

the way we're supposed to do them.

PAPI: I know almita.

ALMA: Tonight was terrible, right?!

Or maybe it wasn't?

How can I choose what to do with my feelings...

when I'm so confused?

I gotta think about this...

ALMA: Our star ornament ended up looking like a blob...

EDDIE: Hmm?

ALMA: We didn't sing my favorite aguinaldo!

And Papi's animal lights didn't even turn on!

ALMA: But I guess Blob-y wasn't so bad!

PAPI: ♪ ... I'll dance like a duck... ♪

ALMA: Okay, and Papi's song was really funny!

ALMA: And we did do a parranda with all our friends...

and we didn't even plan it!

MAMI: ♪ To my friends from the Bronx... ♪

♪ and those from Puerto Rico. ♪

ALMA: Okay. Yeah.

Even though our traditions didn't work out right,

we still had a fun Noche Buena together.

I know what to do!

ALMA: Hey, Papi...

PAPI: Yes Alma?

ALMA: I was sad that Noche Buena is different this year,

but the new stuff has been pretty good.

I'm gonna choose to have fun tonight.

PAPI: Oh, Muy bien, Almita.

ALMA: Hey Junior, you know what's the best thing

about this year's Noche Buena?

JUNIOR: The Christmas lobster?

ALMA: [giggles] Haha yes!

Anddddddd we've had so much fun together!

RAFIA: Hey, Alma!

We grabbed all the extension cords from our apartment!

ALMA: Really?!

Thanks, Rafia!

PAPI: Oh, thank you Rafia.

That's very kind of you.

RAFIA: You're welcome!

PAPI: Ready everyone?!

CROWD: --...

[♪♪♪]

CROWD: Happy Noche Buena! [cheer]

JUNIOR: Yeah Papi!

ALMA: See?

I told you my Papi's animal lights were amazing!

ALMA: Hey, Junior, we should do a Noche Buena parranda...

every year.

It's our new tradition!

JUNIOR: You're on!

[roar]

ALMA: But next year, I'll make sure we have an extension cord.

Merry Christmas!

CROWD: [cheer]

EVERYONE: ♪ En esta navidad. Mucha felicidad. ♪

[♪♪♪]

ALMA: "Three Kings Day Do-Over"

ALMA: Oh hello, Three Kings.

JUNIOR: We brought gifts for the baby Jesus.

ALMA: Please, step inside our manger.

Here's some hay for your animals.

KIDS: [munching sounds]

ALMA: Junior and I are getting ready for Three Kings Day.

It's a whole other holiday twelve days after Christmas!

JUNIOR: I wonder what the Three Kings will bring us this year?

Last year I got a dinosaur and toothpaste!

ALMA: The Three Kings always leave us presents...

in our shoeboxes.

Oh, and every year there's a parade!

ABUELO: I brought some more hay for your shoeboxes!

JUNIOR: Alma, make sure you fill your box with lots of hay,

so when the Three Kings come tonight,

they can feed their animals...

ABUELO: Ah, the Three Kings Day parade...

will be extra exciting this year because your Mami, and Papi,

and Uncle Nestor get to play the kings.

ALMA: Why'd they get picked, Abuelo?

ABUELO: Oh, because of all the good things...

they do for our community.

Are you excited for the parade, Junior?

JUNIOR: I'm excited about the parade and the presents!

Presents! Presents!

KIDS: Presents! Presents! Presents!

ABUELO: [chuckles] Sí, sí.

But you know, the day is really about...

us spending time together as a family.

KIDS: Family! Family! Family! Family!

PAPI: Yeaahhh.... ALMA: [laughter]

MAMI: Check out our parade costumes.

PAPI: So? What do you think?

ALMA: You look great, your majesties.

PAPI: [chuckles] Well, be sure to tell Tía Gloria...

you like our costumes.

She made them.

JUNIOR: Papi, are there going to be real camels at the parade?

PAPI: There sure are, mijo.

And did you know camels can be up to seven feet tall?

JUNIOR: Whoa!

MAMI: Pero, Junior, why aren't you dressed yet?

It's already lunchtime!

JUNIOR: But Alma and I are playing!

PAPI: First we get dressed.

Then you can go back to playing.

Okay?

JUNIOR: Alma, when I get back can we play some more?

ALMA: Sure!

MAMI: [singsongy] It's time to celebrate...

the day of the Three Kings!

All the joy it brings!

Makes me want to sing!

ABUELO: So Almita, what do you think the Three Kings...

will bring you this year?

ALMA: Hmm... Maybe candy?

Or action figures or...

ALMA: Heeey!

These are the cars I got Junior for Christmas.

Abuelo, do you know if he played with these yet?

ABUELO: Hmm, I don't think so.

ALMA: Huh.

I wonder if he didn't like my gift...

ABUELO: Oh, I'm sure he loved it, mija.

Maybe he'll play with it after Three Kings Day.

ALMA: Three Kings...

Oh! I could give Junior a new present for Three Kings Day!

One he'll actually love!

ABUELO: Well, that's very nice, Alma.

But there's probably another reason Junior hasn't played

with the cars.

Maybe you should ask him.

ALMA: Maybe...

orrrrr...

I'll surprise Junior with a gift do-over!

Abuelo, I'm going to cross the street to Huda's market,

be right back.

ABUELA: Sure, Almita!

JUNIOR: Ok, Alma, I'm back! Ready to...

ALMA: Sorry, Junior. I'm on an important mission.

We can play when I get back, okay?

JUNIOR: Oh, okay...

RAFIA: Are you sure he didn't like your Christmas gift?

Maybe he plans on playing with it soon.

ALMA: No, when Junior likes a toy...

he takes it everywhere with him.

I would know, we usually play together.

That's why I need your help.

RAFIA: Me? ALMA: Yes!

Maybe there's something in your store Junior would love.

If I get it for him for Three Kings Day,

it will make up for my Christmas present.

RAFIA: Oh!

A gift do-over?

ALMA: Yeah!

I just have to find the perfect do-over gift before the parade.

RAFIA: Okay, let's have a look!

ALMA: Hmmm...

Junior would never wear it.

RAFIA: Hey Alma, how about these?

ALMA: [chuckles] Hilarious!

But I think we can do better.

[♪♪♪]

ALMA: He'd love this!

Except, he already has one just like it.

ALMA: [sigh] None of these are right for Junior.

RAFIA: Sorry, Alma.

ALMA: Whatever I get him this time...

it has to be something he loves.

KIDS: Hmmm...

RAFIA: Hey! I know!

[Mr. Huda humming]

Why don't you make him a gift?

That way, it's one of a kind!

ALMA: Ooo, good idea.

Mmm, I did promise Junior I'd play with him when I got home,

but...

This is way more important.

JUNIOR: [gasp] Alma!

Are you ready to play?

ALMA: Sorry, Junior, can't right now.

I'm still on a very important mission!!

JUNIOR: But Alma!!!

JUNIOR: [sigh]

ALMA: Okay, what can we make for Junior?

[Chacho barks]

RAFIA: Your dog is so loud! Cute, but loud.

ALMA: Oh!

We can make Junior a Chacho!

He loves Chacho.

Even if you are loud!

Let's get crafty!

JUNIOR: Hi. I'm a king.

Anyone home? Anyone?

[groans]

PAPI: Junior! Come eat something before the parade!

We'll be leaving soon!

JUNIOR: Ohhhh-kay.

[Chacho groans]

KIDS: [ giggle ]

ALMA: Presenting... Chacho!

RAFIA: Oh, it looks like the real thing!

I mean, if Chacho was made out of cardboard...

and colored tissue paper.

And if he had only one ear.

ALMA: It's the perfect do-over gift for Junior.

ALMA: Hey Junior...

I have a gift for you.

Happy Three Kings Day!

Hey Chacho, look it's you!

[Chacho barks]

ALMA: [gasp] Chacho, noooooo!!!

Chaco come back!

ALMA: Come back here Chacho!

Stop stop! Chacho!

Chacho bring it back!

ALMA: [gasp]

Chacho ruined my Chacho!

I don't have time for a do-over of my do-over!

[groan] This is way way way bad.

RAFIA: I'm sorry, Alma.

You did your best.

MAMI: Hi, girls.

Almita, we have to get to the parade!

Oh, did Junior find you?

He's been looking for you everywhere.

ALMA: Really? What for?

MAMI: I don't know.

But we've gotta go.

Papi and Junior already left with Uncle Nestor.

Come, let's go.

ALMA: I really wanted to make this Three Kings Day

special for Junior.

RAFIA: It's the thought that counts, Alma.

Even when it's a do-over Gift.

MAMI: Okay, time to go.

ALMA: [sigh]

[♪♪♪]

PAPI: Up ya go.

Quite a view, eh?

ALMA: Whoooa!

I feel like I can see the whole city!

ALMA: I wonder where Junior is...

ALMA: Huh?

What's Junior doing on the curb?

Doesn't he want to be in the parade with us?

ALMA: Hey Junior! What's up?

JUNIOR: Hi, Alma.

ALMA: Uh, Junior...?

JUNIOR: Hmph.

ALMA: Whoa.

What's going on with Junior?

He was so excited about Three Kings Day,

but now he seems mad at me.

What did I do?

I gotta think about this.

MAMI: He's been looking for you everywhere.

ALMA: Junior was trying to find me...

JUNIOR: Alma! Are you ready to play?

ALMA: Sorry Junior, I can't right now.

I'm still on a very important mission.

JUNIOR: [groan]

ALMA: And then I got too busy...

working on Junior's do-over gift.

I didn't have time to play.

Oh, no!

I know what to do!

ALMA: Hey, Junior, I'm sorry I didn't play with you today.

Did I make you feel bad?

JUNIOR: Hmph...

ALMA: [sigh] I thought Three Kings Day could be

my chance to get you a do-over gift that you'd love

since you didn't like the cars I got you for Christmas.

JUNIOR: Huh?

ALMA: But I was so busy with the do-over gift,

that we didn't get to play together.

I'm really sorry.

JUNIOR: Alma?

I love the cars you got me for Christmas!

ALMA: You do??

JUNIOR: Yeah, I was waiting to play cars with you!

ALMA: You brought them to the parade?!

JUNIOR: Yup!

I was kinda hoping... we could play with them together?

ALMA: Hey, Junior.

Instead of a do-over gift, can we do a do-over Day?

You and me?

JUNIOR: Ok!

We can still have fun at the parade!

ALMA: Thanks!

Where do we start?

[Camel groan]

JUNIOR: Oh! Camels! Camels!

Camels! Camels!

Vroom, vroom! Vrrrrrroooom!

ALMA: I'm right behind you!

[giggle]

[♪♪♪]

ALMA: [giggle]

KIDS: Vroooom! Vrooooom! Zoooom!

[♪♪♪]

KIDS: Cheeese!

JUNIOR: Alma...

I love Three Kings Day!

ALMA: Me too.

And you know what I love most about it?

Getting to spend it with my brother.

ALMA: [gasp] The parade is starting! C'mon!

[♪♪♪]

CROWD: [cheer]

PAPI: Bienvenidos a todos!

MAMI: Welcome!

Happy Three Kings Day!

KIDS: Vroom, vroooom! Vrooom, vroom, vroom!

ALMA: If you ask me...

when it comes to Three Kings Day,

family is King!

Especially little brothers!

[giggle]

KIDS: Vroom, vroom!
