He's going to take Papi's picture for a magazine.

They've been friends forever.

We're ready for our close-up.

RAFIA: How are you going to pose with the parrot, Dr. Rivera?

JORDAN: This is just a regular vet visit,

that one to eat the bagel.

ALMA: Guess we need another animal.

LUCAS: Hey, Rafia. Hey, Alma.

ALMA: Hey, Lucas!

[frog croaks]

ALMA: Lucas, Hopper!

RAFIA: Wait up!

ALMA: Can he do any tricks?

LUCAS: Not really...

RAFIA: His name IS Hopper.

Maybe we can get him to hop?

ALMA: Yeah! Let's get a picture of that for our book.

LUCAS: Book?! Hopper has always wanted to be in a book.

At least, I think so.

ALMA: Alright, Hopper... Hop!

RAFIA: C'mon, not even a little hop?

[croak]

LUCAS: Yeah.. he does what he wants to.

You really don't know when--

ALMA: [gasp]

RAFIA: He's hopping!

ALMA: Or not... [camera click]

RAFIA: Looks like he's playing hide-and-seek.

LUCAS: That's Hopper for you. Very sneaky.

ALMA: Maybe he'll come back out

and we can get him to hop through my arms?

LUCAS: It might take a few minutes...

hours for him to come back out.

ALMA/RAFIA: Hours?!

RAFIA: Maybe we should try another animal?

LUCAS: Ooh...

How about André's guinea pigs?

He's always talking about how they like to race.

ALMA: We need to get a picture of that!

ALMA: Getting animal pictures

is way way waaay harder than I thought.

JORDAN: [laughs]

Oh those squirrels are fast!

ALMA: Hey, Mr. Jordan. What are you taking a picture of?

JORDAN: Birds.

RAFIA: Ummm... I don't see any birds...

JORDAN: I saw a baby bird fly out of that nest.

So I'm hoping the little guy will come back.

ALMA: Wouldn't it be ah-may-zing if a bird landed on my hand?

RAFIA: That would be a perfect picture.

JORDAN: Yeah, but there are lots of perfect pictures.

It's pretty amazing when animals do their own thing too.

How did you get it to do that?

and let the bird be itself.

ALMA: C'mon, let's get our picture of Freddy and Fernie.

It's your time to shine.

[sniffing]

RAFIA: Ooh! Let's get one of Freddy and Fernie

chasing each other!

ALMA: On it!

ANDREÉ: Try giving them a snack.

That usually gets them moving.

RAFIA: It's cute,

but why won't any of the animals do what we want them to?

ANDREÉ: Maybe '‘cause they're

animals?

ALMA: Wait a minute, there's one animal that always does what we want...

Well, almost always.

ALMA/RAFIA: Chacho!

[Chacho growls] [toy squeaks]

ALMA: Let's get Chacho to do something like...

He would look way way way adorable posing in this.

He can't resist Abuelo's socks!

But he does look adorable in this one.

We know what we want, so why can't we take perfect pictures?

I gotta think about this.

It was really hard to get the animals to do what we wanted them to do.

RAFIA: But he does look adorable in this one.

ALMA: I mean, we got some great pictures,

kinda by accident...

and just got the BEST idea for my school video project.
