[croaks]

NARRATOR: It's Valentine's Day in Word World.

And Dog and Ant are busy getting ready

for the big Valentine's party.

KIDS: Heart!

[excited barking]

That's right, Dog, we're almost done decorating

for the Valentine's party.

Oh, hi, Sheep.

Oh, my, what a lovely heart.

Yeah. It's a valentine for my big buddy Pig.

Oh, I just love Valentine's Day.

It's our chance to let our word friends

know how much we love them.

Hey, Bear's my best friend.

I should give her a really special valentine.

Hmm, maybe you could sing a song for Bear.

After all, you have such a beautiful voice.

A song?

Well, I guess I could sing Bear a song.

Great idea.

Thank you, Ant.

I'm going to make up a Valentine's song for Bear.

Good luck.

NARRATOR: So Sheep sat down to try to think up a Valentine's song

for her friend Bear.

♪ La-la-la, la-la-la, la-la

[gasps]

♪ La-la, la-la, la-la... ♪Oh, sweet music.

What a beautiful voice you have, Sheep.

Oh, well, thank you, Fly.

I'm making up a Valentine's song for my best friend Bear.

Hey, maybe I could help you

with your song.

I am in the bug band after all.

Oh, well, that would be just lovely, Fly.

Aren't you the sweetest.

Aw...

[sputtering]

Okay, Sheep, what do you got so far?

♪ La-la-la, la-la-la, la-la. ♪

Huh.

That song sounds great,

but don't you think you should sing some words?

Words really do say how you feel.

My favorite kind of songs are when the words rhyme.

I love rhymes.

Uh, but, uh, how do you make a rhyme?

Oh, that's easy.

A rhyme is when two words have endings that sound the same.

Like "fly" and "shy."

So to make a rhyme, all you have to do is keep the end of a word

and add a new beginning to it.

Let me show you what I mean.

♪ Take the "h" off of "hat"

♪ You've got "at" now

♪ Add a "b" to the front, it's a "bat" now ♪

♪ Hat and bat, bat and hat, that's a rhyme now ♪

♪ You can rhyme every time, I'll show you how ♪

♪ Take the "b" off of "bat"

♪ You've got "at" now

♪ Add a "c" to the front

♪ It's a "cat" now

Yeah.♪ Bat and cat cat and bat, I can rhyme now ♪

♪ Change the sound all the time... ♪

♪ Make a rhyme now.

Oh, thanks, Fly.

Now I'm ready to make up my Valentine's song for Bear.

Go ahead, Sheep, let 'er rip.

Okay, here goes.

♪ I have a wish for my friend Bear ♪

♪ To show her that I really, uh... care. ♪

Good. Bear rhymes with care. Keep going.

♪ She's fuzzy, fun and good at art ♪

♪ I'll give her a... uh... uh... ♪

Oh, no. I can't think of a rhyme to end my song.

That's okay, Sheep. Let's just think this through.

Hmm, you need something that rhymes with "art."

Baa.That's it!

We'll just take the "art" sound

and add a new sound to the beginning.

Like "z" "z--art," zart.

Zart-- art. Well, that rhymes.

But zart isn't really a word, Sheep.

Oh, dear.

If I can't think of a rhyme, I won't be able to sing the song

for Bear at the Valentine's party.

Don't worry, Sheep, we'll figure it out.

Hmm... [muttering]

Hey, maybe Pig can help us.

Well, that's a great idea, Fly.

Come on.

NARRATOR: Sheep and Fly went to see Pig, who was busy

making all kinds of fun foods for the Valentine's party.

[humming tune]

Stir the spaghetti, decorate a tart.

Stir the spaghetti, decorate a tart.

Pig, oh... oh, thank goodness you're here.

We need your help to find a rhyme.

A rhyme?

Oh, I love to rhyme.

Pig, wig, jig, big.

Oh, Pig, you rhyme so well.

I'm making up a Valentine's song for Bear,

and I need a rhyme.

Show him what you got so far, Sheep.

Okay.

[clearing throat]

♪ She's fuzzy, fun and good at art ♪

♪ I'll give her a...

That's where she gets stuck.

She needs something that rhymes with "art."

Art, huh?

Hmm, let's see-- art, uh....

Oh, I've got it.

♪ She fuzzy, fun and good at art ♪

♪ I'll give her a spaghetti tart. ♪

[laughing]

Spaghetti tart.

That's a good one.

Only a pig could think of a rhyme like that.

Well, uh, yes, Pig.

"Spaghetti tart" does rhyme with "art."

But I'm not so sure "spaghetti tart"

is the right rhyme for my song to Bear.

No? But it-it looks so yummy!

[noisy chewing and oinking]

Well, uh, thank you, Pig.

Let's see if another WordFriend

can help us find the right rhyme.

The party is going to start soon.

[munching]

NARRATOR: So Sheep and Fly went to see Monkey

in the jungle to see if he could help.

One banana, two banana, three banana, four,

five banana, six banana, seven banana more.

FLY:Monkey!

Monkey! We need your help.

Oh, do you need a... [stammering]... a banana?

No, we need a rhyme.

Yeah, Sheep's making up a Valentine's song for Bear,

but she can't think of a rhyme to finish it.

[hooting]

I love to rhyme.

Great. Show him what you have so far, Sheep.

Okay.

Here goes.

♪ She's fuzzy, fun and good at art ♪

♪ I'll give her a... a...

She needs something that rhymes with "art."

Art, hmm?

Let's see.

I've got it!

♪ She's fuzzy, fun and good at art ♪

♪ I'll give her a... a... a banana cart... ♪

[laughing]

Was... was that... was that a cart?

Oh, that's too funny!

Only a monkey would think of a banana cart.

Oh, good one, Monkey.

Well, banana cart does rhyme with art,

but I'm not sure banana cart is the right rhyme

for my song to Bear.

Oh, why not?

Well, banana cart is more of a monkey thing

than a bear thing.

Oh, Fly, I'm never going to figure out

the right rhyme for my song.

I think I'd better just go home.

Aw! Poor Sheep!

♪ I had a wish for my friend Bear ♪

♪ To show her that I really care ♪

♪ She's fuzzy, fun and good at art ♪

♪ But all I have is a sad, sad heart... ♪

Wait a minute!

What did I just say?

Heart! Art! Cart! Heart! Art!

We found the rhyme! We found the rhyme!

Whoo-hoo! Good!

Come on, Sheep, we gotta hurry.

The party's starting.

Okay, Fly.

There's only one more thing left to do.

Build a word!

Yeah, we just built a word!

I've got to sing Bear her Valentine's song.

NARRATOR: So Sheep hurried to the party to find Bear.

[talking and laughing]

Ooh! Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, Sheep.

Happy Valentine's Day, Bear.

I made up a special song for you.

You did? Oh! Let me hear it.

Okay.

♪ I have a wish for my friend Bear ♪

♪ To show you that I really care ♪

♪ You're fuzzy, fun and good at art ♪

♪ I give you this Valentine's heart! ♪

[talking happily]

Oh, wow, Sheep!

I love that song.

That's the nicest valentine I've ever gotten.

NARRATOR: Sheep found her rhyme just in time

for her fuzzy valentine.

That's me! Guess what time it is.

It's snack time!

♪ Sodas, cookies, sweets galore ♪

Sweets galore, indeed!

You've got a sweet tooth, my friend.

Which one's his sweet tooth, Crab?

He's got lots of teeth, you know.

Get your head out of there.

A sweet tooth means that you like to eat foods

that have a lot of sugar.

But too much sugar isn't good for you.

You might lose a tooth.

But I love my teeth!

Then have a listen to what this crab has to say.

♪ When you want a snack to eat

♪ It's smart to choose a healthy treat ♪

♪ What you eat can make you stronger ♪

♪ You can play a whole lot longer ♪

♪ Don't eat cake, it's much too sweet ♪

♪ Have a pear, a tasty treat

♪ If you're thirsty, no, no soda ♪

♪ Drink some milk, it's better for ya ♪

♪ Carrots, corn, nuts and berries ♪

♪ Eating these will make you stronger ♪

♪ A juicy apple, bananas and cherries... ♪

[sputtering]

[grunting]

Here's a valentine you can give to your special word friend.

Well, I can't tell you.

It's a secret.

Okay.

Well, don't forget to write your name on the valentine.

So your secret WordFriend knows it's from you.

Um... can you write it for me?

No, Bug, you should write it.

No! Um... that's okay.

[chuckling nervously]: You write it.

Um... Bug?

Why don't you want to write your own name?

Because, um... I, uh...

[sighs] I don't know how to.

Then you have to try!

And the best way to try first

is by tracing the letters in your name.

Tracing? Wh-Wh-What's tracing?

Tracing is when you follow over something

with a pencil or your finger.

Like this! B-- [croaks]

U-G!

[laughing]: That tickles, Frog!

Okay, now let me try.

[grunting]

[stammering]

I can't catch my letters.

They won't keep still!

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! [yelling]

[grunting]

[sighs]

I'll never learn to write my name.

You don't have to trace your own letters, Bug.

All our WordFriends are made of letters.

You can trace theirs.

Sounds good!

Let's go find the letters B-U-G!

So, Frog and Bug went off to find WordFriends

with the letters B-U-G

in their names.

And Bear was first with her beautiful letter B.

Hi, Bear. Happy Valentine's Day!

Do you want to see the valentine I'm making

for my special WordFriend, Sheep?

Oh, pretty!

You know, I'm giving a valentine to my special WordFriend, too.

I can't tell you. It's a secret.

And Bear, Bug is learning how to write his name

on the valentine all by himself.

That's great, Bug!

So, we thought we would let him try tracing your letter B first.

[sneezing]

[grunting]
