I guess, I'm just a faster grower than you are.

You're growing so well.

[ groans]

WINSLOW: Hi, Snook.

Good morning ,Snook.

Hey, Smooch. Winslow.

Whoa. Nice sunflower.

Thanks.

It was just a tiny seed when I planted it,

but with all this sun and rain around here, it really grew.

Hey, wait a second.

That thing is even taller than I am.

Why is everyone bigger than me?

[ chuckles]

Oh, Winslow, you are growing,

just at your own pace.

And, you know, monkeys don't grow

as fast or as tall as sunflowers.

SMOOCH: Yeah.

But Oko is a monkey, and he's pretty tall.

Oko is a different type of monkey than you are.

Not all monkeys are the same size.

Don't worry, Winslow, you'll grow.

But for now, do you need me to reach anything for you?

[ giggles]: Any high, hanging bananas

you got your eye on?

That's so notfunny.

Oh, it's no fun being taller

if Winslow's going to be so sad about it.

[ gasps]: I know.

I'm going to ask Oko.

Maybe he knows how to help Winslow grow.

Hey, Winslow, let's go see Oko.

Maybe he has an idea about growing.

Uh... yeah. Okay.

Thanks, Smooch.

But, Smooch, I don't think

there's a magic trick for growing.

I... Smooch?

Hmm.

Um... excuse me, Oko?

My brother has a question for you.

Monkey to monkey.

[ whispers]: Go ahead, ask him.

Okay.

Hmm?

Um, your monkey-ness, sir,

uh, I'm sick of being small.

I want to grow...

now!

Ah, young marmoset--

bigger than an ant yet smaller than a tree.

[ laughs]

Do not rush. You will grow.

This Oko knows.

Great. Okay.

Uh... when?

When Winslow grow?

Uh, that Oko cannot tell him.

Winslow grow in time.

Be patient little one.

"Little one"?

Great, now he's calling me little, too.

What did that mean anyway?

I have no clue.

Smooch, let's face it.

I'm never gonna grow.

Get a grip.

Just because I'm a little taller?

Grow?

Uh, who wants to grow?

I'd rather, um, un-grow, if I could.

Why would you want to un-grow, Bob?

That's just nuts.

If I were little,

I could live with the, um, ants.

Oh, that would be wonderful.

But I don't want to be an ant.

I want to be a big, tall monkey.

Or at least bigger than my little sister.

Hey!

Uh, maybe you could try stretching?

Stretching!

Or... Uh-oh.

What?

Hey, I know.

I could drink lots of water and lay in the sun!

Uh, if you don't mind my asking,

uh, why would youdo that?

It worked for Smooch's sunflower.

Wait, but, Winslow, we're not plants.

The way we grow is... Winslow?!

Well, I really think stretching might work.

Hey, maybe I could get really small

and crawl into an ant hole.

I'll shrink to ant size.

See ya.

Ah.

[ gasps]

Oh.

[ groans]

Here we go.

[ burps]

Oh, oh, oh.

[ groans]

[ sighs]

Mm-hmm.

Uh, I don't think sitting in the sun

will make a monkey grow.

It works for sunflowers.

Besides, how do you like my shades?

But, Winslow, don't you think Snook was right?

Monkeys and sunflowers grow differently.

[ gasps]: Of course!

Why didn't I think of that?

They need different things to grow differently.

I want a banana!

[ sighs]

[ burps]

[ sighs]

Ah.

Oh. No, sorry Winslow.

You haven't grown a bit.

[ yawning]

[ burps]

Yikes.

All this trying to grow has made me so...

sleepy.

Why don't you take a nap?

You know what they say--

a well-rested marmoset is a tall marmoset.

Or something like that. I forget.

Good idea.

[ snoring]

Snook?

Snook, are you awake?

Uh, Winslow?

Winslow!

Whoa, Winslow.

You're kind of big!

How did you get so big?

I don't know.

Winslow, put me down!

You're messing up my feathers.

But, Burdette, I only want to play.

But you're too big to play with, Winslow.

Too big.

[ yawning]

Time to take a nap.

Huh?

Oh, no!

I'll never fit in there again.

It's true what Burdette said.

I'm too big!

Oh. It was only a dream.

Phew!

Winslow, are you okay?

I'm not big anymore.

I just had the craziest dream.

I was huge, and, well,

let's just say it wasn't so good.

So... you don't mind not growing

as fast as my flower or your sister?

Yeah, well, I don't know why

I wanted to grow that fast.

I think I'll be fine just the way I am.

Well, if it means anything,

I like you just the way you are, too.

You're the best brother a monkey could have.

[ chuckles]

Don't get mushy.

Come on, let's go find Snook!

Oh, come in, come in, little monkeys.

Oh, I mean, come in, big, growing monkeys.

Oh, that's okay, Madge.

Winslow doesn't mind anymore.

There's more to growing than just getting big, you know.

What do you mean?

I mean the kind of growing called maturing.

BOTH: Maturing?

Yes, maturing.

It's another part of growing up.

Learning more about the world and yourself.

Cool. I'm maturing.

[ gasps]: Am I maturing, too?

No.Huh?

No.Am I?

No.Am I?!

No.Really, am I?

I don't think so.Oh.

Of course you are, dear.

You and Winslow are both learning more

and growing up in all kinds of ways all the time.

BOTH [ sing-songy]: Oh, yeah, we're mature.

We're so smart. That's right.

[ babbling indistinctly]

[ chittering]

Hmm, let's see.

Well, no new mark for me.

Looks like I'm the same height as I was last month.

What about you, Winslow?

[ sighs]: Let's see.

[ gasps]

You're taller!

I know, I'm not...

What? I am?

Yeah! See for yourself.

[ laughing]: Nice!

I'm a-growin' now, sis.

Hey.

Wait a second.

How come you grew and I didn't?

There must be a way for me to get taller.

[ grunts]

Why you...

Come here.

[ both laughing]

SMOOCH: Whee!

[ laughs]

Whoa, hey there.

Can you just feel the warm sun today

and the soft breeze blowing by?

[ sniffs]

And what is that smell?

[ sniffs]

Oh-ho-ho, I know.

Can you smell them?

Come closer.

[ sniffs]

[ sneezes]

[ sighs]

Don't they smell great?

Oh, look!

Papaya leaves. My favorite!

[ munching]

Excuse me.

[ bird chirping]Hey, do you hear that?

[ laughs]: The birds seem to think

it's a beautiful day, too.

[ gasps]: Hold it.

W-W-Wait a second.

Did you see what just happened here?

Okay, we saw how beautiful the day is,

we feltthe breeze and the warm sun,

we smelledthe flowers, we heardthe birds,

and I tastedsome great leaves.

[ laughs]

We just used our five senses--

the five senses we all use to experience the world.

Whoa!

Hey, Snook.

What are you doing, huh?

Yeah, what's up?

Well, before you guys dropped in on me,

I was just noticing how great it is to use my five senses.

You've got five?

[ gasps]: Can I have one?

You've already got 'em.

We all have five senses:

see, hear, smell, touch and taste.

Cool!

[ all laughing]

Hey, let's high-five for five senses!

SMOOCH/WINSLOW: High five!

And speaking of my sense of taste, I'm hungry again.

I'm going to go have my breakfast now.

Yeah, come on, Winslow, let's find some bananas.

Mm! See you, Snook.

Oh, whoa, whoa!

[ all grunting]

Watch where you're going there, Bob.

Oh, my!

I'm so tired, I don't even think I can see straight.

Didn't you get a good night's sleep?

Are you kidding? I wish.

There was this noise coming from behind the rock,

and... and...

it scared me.

SMOOCH/WINSLOW: Whoa! It scared Bob!

What did it sound like?

It sounded like this:

[ buzzing]

[ wailing]

[ buzzing]

[ wailing]

[ whimpering]

Whoa... ooh-ooh-ooh!

Yikes! That is scary!

Yeah, especially when Bob does it.

What would make a sound like that?

Something very strange, I think.

How can we figure out what it was?

[ gasps]: I know!

Hey, Bob, we just learned

about the five senses that we have.

I'll tell you what.

I'm going to use my five senses to find what scared you so much.

Hey, while you're doing that, uh, maybe I can get some sleep.

WINSLOW: Uh, good idea.

[ yawns]: Me, too.

I'm tired just from talking.

Aw...

Well, thanks, guys.

Well, I want to know

what that noise-making, smelly thing was,

even if you don't.

BOB/WINSLOW: See you.

Ick?

[ groans]

Oh, Ick, you know I'm calling you.

Hmm.

Okay, Ick, I'm leaving...

Can't a fish get

any peace and quiet around here?!

What do you want from me, anyway?!

Did you hear anything strange?

Spooky noises last night?

Strange? Spooky?

Nah, I didn't hear a thing.

Wait a second.

I did smellsomething really stinky...

[ groans]

...from over there, near the rock.

Near the rock? You did?

Well, what was it?

It smelled like... monkey.

It was a definite monkey smell.

And that was the terrible smell?

Ick!

[ laughing]: Just kidding.

Later, Smooch.

Hi, Smooch. Where are you climbing to?

[ panting]: Oh!

I'm on a discovery using my five senses.

[ gasps]: Did you hear anything strange

last night, Wartz?

Nope, not a thing.

Oh, but I did seesomething that was really frightening.

What did you see?

Well, I saw some strange-looking shadows on the rock.

Shadows on the rock?

Hmm...

Monkey smell, terrible sound...

So that's three senses.

Very interesting.

What's very interesting?

I'd like to be informed of anything happening

around here that is interesting.

Oh, hi, Burdette.

Smooch is making a discovery.

Really? I love discoveries.

Well, Burdette, did you hear a strange noise last night?

Hmm...

Mm, nope. Mm, nothing.

But I did taste something

near the rock this morning.

Taste something near the rock?

You did? Yuck!

What was it?

Well, I found a piece of banana by the rock.

[ gasps]: Banana?

Ta-ta-ta.

Bye, Smooch.

Good luck with your discovery.

Hmm...

Oh, my dear Smooch.

I was just looking for you.

Oh, hi, Madge.

I was on my way to...

Oh, oh, don't let me interrupt you,

but word around the World Tree is

you're conducting some kind of discovery today.

Something to do about

the five senses.

What have you found out so far?

Well...

first, I found out that Bob heard a really strange noise.

And since then, I've found out that Ick smelled a monkey,

Wartz saw a shadow, and Burdette tasted a banana,

all near the rock.

Fascinating, my dear.

Why, this is a regular detective story for the five senses.

You didn't hear a strange noise last night,

did you?

Now that you mention it,

when I was taking my evening walk last night,

my foot touched something disgustingly furry, over there.

Where?Behind the rock.

The rock? What was it?

Oh, I haven't the foggiest. [ chuckles]

You know I'm blind as a bat without my glasses.

Are bats really blind, Madge?

Oh, yes, quite.

But bats have other special senses

that allow them to compensate.

They can hear extra well

and find food and warmth without even seeing.

Wow.

So different animals have different kinds of senses.

Indeed, they do.

Well, I wish I had an extra sense

to help me solve this mystery.

Just use the five senses you've got.

I'm sure you will do an excellent job.

Um, I don't know about this.

Hey, can we do this tomorrow?

Don't you want to know what that sound was?

Um... not really.

It's not really that important.

I don't care anymore, anyway. I, uh...

[ growling]

[ inhaling]

[ growling]

[ inhaling]

Scary! Scary!

What are we doing here?

I think I'll go home now.

No.

We're going to find out, no matter what.

Let's go.

BOTH: Oko?!

Oko, what are you doing sleeping here?

Oh, little ones.

Oko sleep where sleep is best.

Where he can see the moon and the stars and feel the breeze.

[ chuckles]

It makes Oko feel at peace with the world.

There's the banana!

Wow!

I guess the mystery of the five senses is solved.

Ick smelled Oko.

Oko not smell.

[ sniffs]

No.

And you, Bob, heard the sound of his snoring.

Yeah.

And Burdette tasted the banana he left on the rock.

[ gasps]

Oh, and Madge touched his fur.

And now, we've seen him.

[ yawns]

Yeah, but, uh, now that I've seen him, I'm pretty tired.

Well, little ones, before you go to sleep,

take a long look at that glorious moon.

Yeah.

It sure is beautiful.

SNOOK: One of my favorite animals is my friend Wartz.

He's a red-eyed tree frog.

Tree frogs are really great climbers.

Yep.

Most of them have sticky pads on their feet.

And Those pads help them climb trees

and leap through the treetops.

Whoa.

Tree frogs sure are amazing.

And I think Wartz is the most amazing tree frog

I've ever met.

Don't you?

Smooch and Winslow are very amazing animals.

They're marmosets.

A marmoset is a kind of monkey.

Hey, do you know that marmosets like to live

with other members of their family?

Like their brothers and sisters.

[ chuckles]

No wonder Smooch and Winslow

have so much fun sharing a house.

Uh, except when Winslow

leaves his stuff on the floor, of course.
