We said we'd race to the top of the tree

before breakfast.

Hey, Winslow, why not slow down a bit?

We're always racing everywhere.

[ thudding] Oh!

[ groaning and whimpering ]

Winslow, are you okay?

Uh, me? Um, yeah, I'm fine.

[ embarrassed laugh ]

Boy, my arm really hurts.

Hmm.

Does this hurt?

Ow! Don't do that!

I think you really banged it up, Winslow.

Let's let Madge take a look at your arm.

We may need to do something about this.

Oh, let's hurry up, Snook.

I got stuff I want to do this morning.

Come on, Winslow, hop on my back.

Well, you're right, Snook,

he is a lucky little monkey--

no broken bones.

Yay, no broken bones!

Okay, so it's back to vine swinging for this monkey.

Ow!

But how come it still hurts?

Oh, settle down, Winslow.

Just because you didn't break a bone

doesn't mean you're not hurt.

Why, yes, dear monkey,

you could have bruised your muscles,

even your bones.

Bruised my bones? Whoa.

I didn't know you could do that.

What is a "bone" anyway?

Why a bone is a very important

part of your body.

I must have a chart here somewhere.

I think I saw it over here.

Ah.

Look at that Halloween monkey.

[ laughing]: Well, that's a skeleton, Winslow.

It's a skeleton of a monkey like you.

Cool.

Look at all those bones.

Yes, Winslow, your bones are part of a skeleton.

And your bones and skeleton are what hold us up.

How many bones are in there?

Oh, hundreds, my dear.

And you can even feel them under your skin.

You can feel your own bones.

Have you ever felt your bones?

Try your elbow, Winslow.

Do you feel something there?

You can try touching your elbow, too.

Hmm. Yeah.

I can feel something hard.

Those are your bones.

Bones are very hard and do not bend, my dear.

But, at your elbow,

two bones fit together and form a kind of hinge.

That's how you're able to bend there.

WINSLOW: Neat.

Can you feel any other bones?

Um... hmm.

Found some! Right here.

Good.

Those are your ribs.

The ribs are very special bones for a monkey

because they protect

the important parts inside of you,

like your heart

and the lungs we use to breathe.

Wow.

And my skeleton is very different

than the one you monkeys have, Winslow.

There's a lot to learn about bones, huh, Madge?

Oh, yes, there is, dear.

They're very important.

I guess you got to have bones.

That's right.

Oko show you how it work.

What am I going to do about this arm?

I think we're going to need to pay a visit to Oko.

He's a healer,Winslow.

He'll be able to do something for your arm

that may help.

Well, okay, but I've got to get going.

Take it easy, my dear.

As Snook says, "Enjoy the ride."

And take care of your bones.

Even Madge is saying it.

[ chuckling ]

Come on, Winslow.

Hmm. Hmm. Huh.

It seems thatyou have

bruised your bone, my friend.

Your arm needs rest

so your body and the bones inside can heal.

You must wear this sling

for, um...

one week!

This sling is pretty cool,

but I think it's going to get in the way

of my expert vine swinging.

What does it do, anyway?

Ah. A sling helps keep your arm

in the same position, little one,

so it can rest until it gets better.

Winslow you'd be better off

saving the swinging for a little while.

[ gasps ]

No swinging?

I'm not like a sloth,

I can't just hang upside down all day.

Oh...

What am I going to do?

Perhaps you can go slow and take it easy, little monkey.

Yeah, where have I heard that before?

What does that mean, anyway?

It means to take it easy.

Everybody's saying it. Mm.

But now can I go show everybody my sling?

[ laughing]

Tell Smooch I'll meet her at the top of the tree.

[ Winslow laughing]

[ exasperated sigh]

Why do I have a bad feeling about this?

I don't know.

Sling or no sling, I'm getting to the top of the tree today

no matter what.

Now, I wonder if I can swing with just one arm.

Hmm. [ grunts]

What-cha doing? Huh?

Oh, hi, Wartz.

I'm trying to figure out how to swing on one arm.

What happened to your other arm?

I fell down and bruised my bone.

[ gasps ]: That's awful.

But I'm not going to let it stop me.

Oko gave me this sling to wear until it heals.

Eh? What do you think?

Does it hurt?

Well, it does hurt a little.

But I won't let that stop me.

My bones will be better in no time.

Oh, that's good.

But maybe you better rest

until your arm gets better.

No way-- it'll get better anyway.

Okay, well, be careful, Winslow,

you don't want to hurt your other arm.

Hurt my other arm?

Is that frog crazy?

All right...

[ straining ]

Hmm.

[ straining ]

Oh, hello, Winslow.

I heard you broke your arm.

You poor little monkey.

Burdette?Swinging on vines,

it's just not the best way to travel.

Burdette?

I've always said, "Someday one of those monkeys

"is going to be swinging on a vine

and they're going to break their poor little arms."

Burdette?

My arm isn't broken, Burdette.

My bone is just a bit bruised, that's all.

You should be careful for your bones, Winslow,

they're very important.

I should know, birds have very special bones.

Oh, they do?

What's so special about your bones?

Well, birds have hollow bones in our wings.

That way, we have structure but we also are light and flexible.

Hmm.

I did not know that.

I guess everybody's got bones.

Well, actually, there are some animals

who don't have bones, like insects--

spiders, worms--

and some sea creatures, like jellyfish and oysters.

Ew. Well...

I don't have time for this,

I am about to be the first one-armed swinging monkey

to make it to the top of the tree,

so get back and watch out.

Are you sure you shouldn't be more careful?

[ chuckles]

Ye-hew!

[ screams ]

[ thudding]

[ Winslow moaning ]

Are you okay, Winslow?

Ow...

Oh, no, Burdette.

Um... could you call Snook?

Okay!

You stay right there.

[ slurping]

Ah!

Thanks, Snook.

That tastes great.

No problem, Winslow.

Boy, Winslow, how are you going to ever take

being stuck in a cast?

Well, he's got to give his bones

a chance to heal this time.

Yeah, it's no problem, sis.

You know, getting taken care of by Snook isn't so bad.

Why thank you, Winslow.

Yep, I think I'm just going to sit back

and enjoy the ride. [ giggling]

Mm. Papaya pie.

Oh, this is going to be so good.

Looks yummy, huh?

[ laughs]

Food, you can't b*at it.

Well, I guess you can if it's an egg.

[ chuckles] Anyway, today I have created papaya à la Snook.

Mmm-mmm!

Snook!

Hey, Burdette, how are you doing?

Not very well, actually.

I'm so upset Snook,

I can't even talk about it.

Oh, well, why don't you give it a try.

Well...

some other birds-- I have no idea who--

have been feeding on my nut tree,

and there's not a single nut left, on mynut tree.

Oh, that does sound bad.

What am I going to eat?

Well, maybe there's another nut tree somewhere?

But it wouldn't be my nut tree, Snook.

You know I'm very particular about the kind of nuts I eat

and where I eat them.

I understand, Burdette, but I'm not sure you can stick

to one tree if there aren't any nuts left on it.

Oh, well.

I'm just gonna wait until the nuts grow back on my tree.

Um, that could take a while, Burdette.

You might want to look for another tree

or maybe try eating some other food for a little while.

[ chuckling ]: I mean, after all,

there's plenty of food here in the rainforest.

♪ Some eat ants or leaves or mangos ♪

♪ It depends upon their mood

[ chuckling ]: Well, I have to say Snook,

that was a very exciting song,

but it just made me even hungrier.

Hey, would you like to share some of my papaya à la Snook?

Mm. I don't know.

What's inside of it?

Um... papaya?

Uh, Snook.

As a quetzal bird, I don't eat just anything.

Oh, I know you don't, Burdette.

We all have our own favorite foods.

Hey, do you remember the time Madge baked cupcakes

to celebrate the World Tree's birthday?

Mm-hmm.

ALL: Surprise! [ both shout]

We're here!

Oh, my.

Weren't we supposed to be surprising them?

[ chuckling ]: We know already.

It's a surprise for the World Tree.

But, uh, the tree

isn't acting very surprised, is it?

I told you.

Well, I can see all you creatures are too clever

for an old turtle like myself.

[ laughs] But happy World Tree Day.

Yay, Tree!

I told you the tree wouldn't be able to jump up and down.

Uh, Snook?

Yes, Burdette?

I was just wondering, uh...

where the cake might be.

Well, not that I heard anything, but, well, a lot of times

when there is a party, there's a cake.

Yeah, does it have flies in it?

Mmm.

And trees don't eat cake, right, Snook?

So the cake is really for us, right?

SNOOK: Uh, no,

trees don't eat cake, Smooch,

but you all eat so many different kinds of things.

And there's

no way I'm eating flies.

Ugh!

Oh, sorry, Wartz.

Well, Madge, what are we going to do?

Oh, I think everything will be just fine.

Here we are, dears.

Something for everyone.

The one with the flies is for you, Wartz, dear.

And, Bob, for you.

Burdette, nuts, seeds, there we go.

ALL: Yay!

[ laughs]

Phew.

That was a close one.

Oh, those cupcakes were so delicious.

We each had our own special flavor.

Oh. I think mine even had nuts in it.

[ chuckles]

I just thought of something, Burdette.

Have you checked out the berry bushes?

I know you love berries.

Winslow and Smooch ate all of them yesterday,

and besides those berries were slightly sour-tasting.

Oh, you're right.

I guess those monkeys will eat just about anything.

[ chuckling ]: Oh, monkeys.

Remember, Snook, when Winslow went crazy for sap,

and he just couldn't stop eating?

[ laughing]: I sure do.

There you are!

We've been looking for you all morning.

WINSLOW:Uh...

Hey, guys.

Winslow, why don't you sit down and take a rest.

That better not be more sap.

[ groans] Don't even say that word.

I never want to hear it again.

[ groaning]

Oko gave me this plant to eat.

It's called "mint."

He said it would...

[ imitating Oko ]: sooth aching stomach.

And has it "soothed aching stomach"?

Hmm. You know, it's not quite as angry with me as it was

after I ate my fifth bowl of sap...

Oh.

but I'm still hearing it loud and clear.

Fifth bowl of sap?

Or was it my sixth?

If you're feeling any better later, Winslow,

maybe we can go vine swinging.

Would you like that?

[ gasps ]

Yeah, let's go, let's-- [ groaning]: go.

Oh.

Bad idea.

[ chuckling ]

Looks like you wont be going anywhere but to bed,

my sap-stuffed friend.

Yeah, looks like you're right, Snook.

You see, Snook, that's why

I am very careful about what I eat.

My stomach knows what it likes.

Yeah.

Winslow was pretty sick after eating all that sap,

but it wasn't really the sap that made him sick,

it was how much he ate.

I suppose so, Snook,

but the nuts I eat are really good for me.

They are packed with good things that make

my feathers shine and my eyes sparkle.

And all those "good things" can be found in other nuts,

berries, leaves, and even some bugs.

Bugs? Ooh!

Well, I would never eat bugs.

Oh, that's right, Burdette.

Hey, remember that time when Smooch thought

you were eating everything in her garden?

Our squash ready to eat yet?

[ groans] Not yet, Snook, but it won't be long.

Oh. Snook.

Yeah?

I caught Wartz and Burdette eating my vegetables.

They said they were trying to help me with the garden,

but how could they be helping me if they were eating everything?!

Oh. You know, Smooch,

I think we should go find Wartz and Burdette

and ask them what they were really doing

in your garden, don't you?

Mm-hmm.

Smooch is always nice to me.

She probably didn't understand

what we were doing in her garden.

Then she should have asked us.

Why, I never eat those kind of berries she's growing.

When you have feathers like mine,

eating the right food is very important

to keep them beautiful.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Burdette.

I find eating flies keeps my skin perfect,

smooth and green.

Hey, Wartz, Burdette.

Hi, Snook.

Uh, hi, Smooch.

Hi, Wartz.

Hello, Snook.

Humph.

Go on, Smooch, ask them what they were doing in your garden.

Uh, Wartz, Burdette?

Were you eating my lettuce and berries?!

No, of course not, Smooch.

Me either, Smooch.

It's just that those little flying bugs I like

hide away under your lettuce leaves,

so I have to dig a bit to catch them.

So, Burdette, what were you eating in Smooch's garden?

I was picking off all the berry bush bugs.

I thought Smooch would appreciate

not having to pick them off herself.

So you were helping me?

The grubs and bugs would have eaten your lettuce and berries

if it hadn't been for Wartz and Burdette.

That's about it, Smooch.

But I'm happy to come back to your garden anytime

if you want me to.

You grow the best little flying bugs ever.

Well, I wasn't actually eating the bugs, Snook,

I was just picking them away from the fruit.

Yeah, that's right.

Snook!

How could you possibly think I'd even taste a bug?

Yuck!

My mistake, Burdette.

But...

I have to admit that sometimes,

I am curious about different kinds of foods.

Curious, eh?

Well, there's no time like the present to try something new,

especially since there are no more nuts

on your favorite nut tree.

Oh, I don't know, Snook.

Hey, I think I might have a few nuts around here.

[ gasps ]

What if I sprinkle some on my papaya pie?

What do you say, Burdette?

[ chuckles]

Looks yummy!

Let's eat!

Mmm. Mmm.

Mmm.

[ gulps ]

Hey, you're back!

You know, there are so many la, amazing creatures... ♪

that live here in the World Tree.

Yeah, we got marmosets, anteaters, turtles,

monkeys, birds, ants, and frogs... and you

Yep, you're an animal, too.

Anteaters are very cool animals.

Do you remember which one of my friends is an anteater?

That's right, it's Bob.

Did you know that anteater's mouths are extremely small?

Yeah, you could barely fit a pencil in an anteater's mouth,

not that an anteater would want a pencil in his mouth.

[ chuckles]

Luckily, their tongues are long, really long,

so they can stick them way out of their mouths

to collect food.

I bet those long tongues sure would be good

for lollipop licking.

What do you think?

My friends Smooch and Winslow are to animals who love playing

and scampering around the forest.

They're marmosets,

and marmosets are pretty active monkeys.

I bet you've seen Smooch

and Winslow doing lots of scampering

and vine swinging, yourself.

Hey.

Did you know that marmosets travel more than a mile a day

with all their fun and games?

[ chuckles]

Yep, that's a lot of ground to cover.
