[ Madge snoring ]

It's a bug shield.

It has to be, Smooch.

No, it's not, Winslow.

Madge wears those things indoors, too.

I wouldn't mind having them

for when I'm swinging around the tree.

Last time, I got a bug in my eye,

and I missed the vine

and slammed right into Snook.

[ laughs]

Good thing he's soft.

Yeah.

I bet they help Madge avoid high speed collisions

with crazy, flying, speeding bugs.

That's got to be it.

Seem pretty sturdy. Hmm.

Madge doesn't move fast enough

to collide with speeding bugs, Winslow.

I think she has to wear them because she's very old.

Well, my eyesight might not be wonderful,

but my hearing is just fine, my dears.

Oh, Madge, we didn't mean to wake you up.

[ chuckles]

Did you hear us?

Did I what, dear?

[ louder]: Did you hear us?

No, but I can hear you now.

Did you want to know something?

Yes, um, it's those things on your nose, Madge.

Winslow and I were wondering what they're for.

Bug shields, I'm certain.

You can tell me I'm right.

Well, sorry, Winslow dear, I can't.

These are glasses.

Glasses?Yes, glasses.

They allow me to see better.

My eyesight isn't as good as it was when I was younger.

These glasses

help me to see.

Oh.

Well, that's cool.

We see pretty good without glasses.

Yep.

We can see anything that moves in the rain forest.

Indeed, you can,

and you're very lucky to have such good eyesight.

Without it, you couldn't see

the beautiful views from the World Tree,

find Smooch when you're playing hide and seek or read a book.

But not all animals have good eyesight, you know, Winslow.

Really?

Yes. Some animals can't see

nearly as well as you marmosets can.

You mean not everyone sees things the same way we do?

Yes, dear.

But some animals that can't see too well

have other senses that are very strong.

For instance,

an anteater's eyesight isn't as good as a marmoset's,

but Bob makes up for it with an amazing sense of smell.

Well, Bob's got the nose for it.

So, Madge, what can you see

when you don't have your glasses on?

MADGE: Well, practically nothing.

I can only see things that are very close to me.

You two look quite fuzzy over there.

[ chuckles]We do?

I don't feel fuzzy, well, fuzzier than normal.

Well, dears, will you do me a favor and get me a new frond?

Mine has become a bit frayed.

Need my wind, as you know.

No problem, Madge.

We'll be right back.

Yes, yes, yes, I'm off to do my reading.

I have quite a lot to do today.

Oh.

Am I talking to myself again?

[ chuckles] Oh, my.

[ inhaling rapidly]

[ sneezes ]

Oh, my.

Oh, my glasses.

Where did they go?

[ grunts]

Oh. Now, how come my shell got so heavy all of a sudden?

Oh.

Oh, dear.

I wonder where my glasses have gone.

Here's your frond, Madge.

Why, thank you.

[ gasps ] Your glasses, Madge!

Where have they gone?

I don't know.

I just don't know.

Dears, if you wouldn't mind, please.

please help me find them.

No problem, Madge. You stay here, Smooch,

and I'll get some help.

We'll find your glasses for you, Madge!

Thank you.

Thank you, dears.

[ sipping ]

Snook! Snook!

It's Madge's glasses!

They're gone, and she needs them to see,

and I'm fuzzy without them, and what are we going to do?!

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on, Winslow.

That's a lot of information.

Rewind.

Let's try that again.

Well, Madge asked us to get fronds,

and we did, but her glasses were gone.

Okay.

If Madge's glasses are gone,

we'll just have to help her find them.

Do you have a friend or relative that wears glasses?

You know how important they are to them.

Any idea where they went, Winslow?

They could be anywhere, Snook!

Come on, let's go.

Well, let's get everybody to help.

Any luck, my dear Smooch?

Have you found my glasses yet?

Not yet, Madge.

I have no clue where they went.

But they must be around here somewhere.

Oh, now, who is that

swinging in on the vine very fuzzily?

Madge!

It is me-- Oko!

I have heard that you have lost your glasses.

Until you find them, Oko has come to be your eyes.

Why, thank you, Oko.

You are such a dear.

Oko would like to escort you home, if you will allow him.

It would be a great honor for Oko to help someone

who is so good at helping others.

Why, thank you very much, Oko.

Don't worry, Madge.

I'll keep looking for your glasses!

Any luck Burdette?

Burdette has amazing eyesight.

Birds can see great distances.

Some birds can even spot an animal from a mile away.

Ah, well, that's because I have to see things

from high up in the air.

So you found them?

No. Sorry, not yet.

But I'm not done looking.

I wonder if some other creature found them

and has perhaps walked away with them.

How could that happen?

She lost them in just a second.

Besides, who would want to wear those things anyway?

Let's go see if we can get Bob to help.

See you, Burdette!

I'll keep looking!

Thanks.

Let us know if you find anything!

[ sniffing]

Now, that's very strange.

I smell ants and there are a lot of them.

Hey, Bob.

Bob, you've got to help us!

But I was trying to find Madge's glasses.

No, no, no. We don't have time for that.

You have to help us find Madge's...

How did you know?

Burdette told me.

Everyone is looking for them.

Well, Bob, any luck?

I know you have an incredible sense of smell.

That's what that extra long nose is for.

But I don't know if you can smell a pair of glasses.

What would they smell like anyway?

Well, I tried.

And, and?

Nothing.

But I do smell two very special things.

I smell a lot of ants, and I smell a snail.

What's so special about that?

You're always smelling ants.

Okay, the snail, that's unusual.

But what does this have to do with Madge's glasses?

Well, I don't know.

But it might.

Hmm... you might be right Bob,

but I don't know how just yet.

We'll have to keep investigating.

Let's go to Madge's where she lost them

and see what we can find there.

Here Madge, please sit down.

Smooch and Oko will get you anything you need.

Here's a smoothie, Madge.

Why thank you, dears.

Eyesight is a very precious thing.

[ sighs ]

Imagine me with all these books

and not being able to read them.

That would be a pity.

I'm sure we'll find your glasses, Madge. I'm just sure.

I hope so, dear.

Where can they be?

Well, we left Madge here and when we got back

she was just over here, and she had lost her glasses.

Hmmm, I don't see them anywhere around,

but I don't think they could just crawl off,

uh... can they?

[ sniffing]

Oh, my... Oh, my.

Well, look at Bob, sniff.

He's going crazy.

Hey, Bob, what do you smell?

There's, uh, ants coming this way.

I don't see anything.

Hey, look.

The ants found Madge's glasses.

Oh, great!

Thank you, ants,

Ooh. But look. It's all icky.

How did they get this way?

Well, I'm sure the, uh, ants

didn't do it.

They're very clean.

Hmm. Very interesting.

I think I have an idea.

Oh, that's better-- much, much better.

But I still don't understand

how my glasses just crawled away.

Well,

I think this may be

the one creature in the World Tree who knows.

BOTH: A snail!

I didn't mean to take your glasses. I didn't.

I had a feeling when Bob said he sniffed a snail

that something had happened.

So I thought I'd ask our little friend here.

I was just minding my own business,

crawling around, when theylanded onme.

Well, I guess I was moving along pretty fast for me

and didn't realize it.

[ Smooch giggling ]

Who would have thought

that a snail can make a fast getaway?

Well, thank you.

My glasses needed a good cleaning anyway.

Yeah, especially after all that slime!

I'm good at making slime.
