[Opal] Coming up next on Odd Squad...

Our van has been taken over by a villain

-and we can't stop it! -It's headed straight

for the Lake of Goo.

We need to save the van.

I don't think that's gonna hold.

You need to get out there!

[maniacal laughter]

[Opal] My name is Agent Opal.

These are my partners, Omar, Orla and Oswald.

This is us upside down.

We travel the world investigating anything strange,

weird, and especially odd.

Our job is to put things right again.

[cheering]

[all] Shields up!

[Opal] Who do we work for?

We work for Odd Squad.

[Opal] Slow Your Roll.

[triumphant instrumental]

[van computer] Agents, you have an incoming call from the Big O.

There you four are. Something very,

very, very odd is happening.

[both] Your van is being taken over by a villain.

This is Orana and this is Oliver,

two of my best agents on the ground here in Australia.

They called me here because there's been a problem

at Parkes Observatory,

which is the main Odd Squad communication's centre.

We've noticed some signal interference

with your mobile unit van.

According to my projections,

you're about to lose control of it now.

[van computer] The agents are right!

I am being taken over.

By me!

We have no clue who you are.

You can call me...

The Shadow.

Anyway, I have full control of your van.

Watch this.

[tapping keyboard]

[microwave beeping]

I just opened your microwave.

We can just shut the door.

It's not about the microwave!

My real plan is to destroy your van.

-[all] What?! -It's headed straight

for the Lake of Goo. Have a look.

[beeping]

Once the van drives into it,

it will get into the engine

and all over the seats.

And no car wash will ever get it clean,

even the deluxe gold option that comes with a little,

tiny air freshener that looks like a tree.

How did you get control of our van?

[mascot] Free oil change!

Free oil change!

Come on in, come on in!

Opal, Opal, Opal,

so predictable.

Woohoo! Free oil change!

[The Shadow] Once I was under your vehicle,

I reprogrammed the van computer.

[cackling]

I'm certain the Big O and her team

are already working on a solution.

Yeah, it's not going well.

Unfortunately, it looks like

it's the end of the road for the van.

Oliver wasn't even trying to make a pun.

-You need to get out of there! -Game over, OSMU.

I'll give you a moment

to say goodbye to your precious van.

[laughing maniacally]

Now, I'm gonna check my emails.

We need to come up with a plan.

We put on our jetpacks and leave.

I've got my favourite souvenirs.

I've got my favourite books. Let's go.

Guys, wait!

Wait!

We can't give up the van.

It's got too many memories. Look.

We marked all our heights on this door frame.

Opal, we only have four lines

because we haven't been in the van long enough

for any of us to get taller.

Which is why we shouldn't leave.

We need to add more lines.

I just need to reprogram the computer

in the main control room to save the van.

Hold on, that's way down in the lower floors of the van.

It will take way too long to get there.

Unless we figure out a way to slow the van down

-to buy Opal some time. -I did spot a town on the map

the villain showed us. There might be people there

-who could help. -Sounds like a plan.

I'll make my way down to the main control room.

Mm, this is a bad idea...

Come on, Oswald, we at least owe it to ourselves

to try Opal's plan.

Fine. But if we run out of time

Orla needs to convince her to get out of the van.

Why me?

You left Odd Squad ruins

after living there for years.

You can show Opal how it's done.

I left because it was a pile of rubble.

Either way, I believe in you.

-Bye, Orla! -Good luck.

Here it is, the first door we need to get through

to reach the main control room.

[beeping]

Why isn't the door opening?

[The Shadow] Your old codes don't work anymore.

Isn't that right, Brutus?

-You betcha, boss. -Where's your mask?

Aw, man!

I'll just close my left eye.

It makes my whole face look different.

It's too late now!

Can I still tell them about the new

-code system I programmed? -[whispering] Quickly.

They're in the form of word problems

and if that wasn't hard enough,

I don't even tell you what operation to use.

Don't tell them too many clues!

I didn't. A clue would have been if I said

an operation is either addition, subtraction--

I'm shutting off the camera.

Opal, you heard the strange boy and his masked friend,

the van cannot be saved. It is time to go.

No, we can do this. Omar and Oswald

are buying us more time right now.

[Oswald screaming]

Whew!

You know what these jetpacks need?

A parachute for a better landing.

Welcome to Dirtpile City.

Um...

What exactly do you sell here?

Dirt!

We also sell Cobb salad wraps, but only if you buy dirt first.

-You in? -Yes!

No! Our van has been taken over by a villain

and we can't stop it!

It's heading right down this road,

straight for the Lake of Goo

and we need to find a way to slow it down.

I'd really love to help, but...

my brother Dave is stuck again.

Dave, for the last time,

moving on dirt is way harder than moving on a flat surface.

Because of friction!

Yes!

Also, what's friction?

When two surfaces rub against each other

you create friction.

And a surface covered in dirt

is rougher than a flat, smooth road.

And our van's wheels rubbing against the rough dirt

will create more friction which will slow it down!

Yes! Donna, how much for some dirt?

No one's ever asked me that before!

[Opal] Alright, here we go.

[beeping]

[Brutus] Word problemo numero uno.

[clearing throat]

If Marty Marmalade has seven jars of marmalade

and Jamie Jam has three jars of jam,

how many jars are there altogether?

-[gadget beeping] -Let's create an equation

with the information we have so far.

Marty has seven jars of marmalade.

Jamie Jam has three jars of jam.

[Orla] And the operation would go here.

But is the operation addition or subtraction?

We can use keywords to help us, like clues.

Brutus said, "How many jars are there altogether?"

Altogether means you are combining things

or adding them. Addition!

If we add three to seven it equals

eight, nine, ten.

The answer is ten!

We did it!

[door chiming melodiously]

[phone ringing]

I am Orla.

We figured out a way to slow down the van!

We bought a bunch of dirt and got free Cobb salad wraps.

But the wraps aren't as important as the dirt.

Here comes the van!

I can feel it!

It's working!

The van is slowing down!

Yeah! Woohoo!

I don't think that's gonna hold.

Oh, no.

-No! -Oh, no!

We're moving fast again.

[Omar] Sorry, Opal.

The dirt didn't slow the van down enough.

No refunds.

-Wait, what? -Hey, no!

[cackling]

It's over.

Look how close you are to the Lake of Goo.

[beeping]

Actually, you're further than I thought.

Maybe I shouldn't have told you my plan

until you were closer to the lake.

We got through one door

and we'll get through the others.

The first door is easy,

the other problems are way harder.

-I've got my mask on. -Why?

They've already seen you.

Sure, but they still don't know

that my full name is Brutus James--

Don't tell them your full name!

[static crackling]

I've discussed the situation with Oswald.

It is time to leave, Opal.

We can't!

Being in this van is the first time I felt like

I've been a part of something bigger.

Solving oddness all around the world,

getting to hang out with you...

[emotional instrumental]

But if you really think we should--

Stay.

I think we should stay.

[Oswald] What?!

This metal box on wheels has too many memories!

Farewell, Oswald.

Let's go save our van.

Okay, new plan. You need to convince Opal and Orla

to get out of there before it's too late.

On it. In the meantime,

try to find another way to slow down the van.

-I saw a town up ahead. -[Donna] Wait!

-Can you sign our guestbook? -Sorry, gotta run.

We really gotta go.

There!

Here's the next door to get through

to reach the main control room.

[Brutus] If Kooky the Clown has ten clown wigs

and four of them were taken away

by the evil Odd Squad Mobile Unit,

how many wigs would she have left?

Let us begin with an equation

and fill it with the knowledge we know.

[gadget beeping]

Kooky the Clown had ten wigs

and four of them were taken away.

-How many were left? -Taken away and were left

are keywords for subtraction.

So, ten wigs minus four.

[Opal] Which looks like this...

[Orla] And that leaves ten, nine, eight, seven, six wigs!

Six wigs were left.

So, six should open this door.

-[door chiming melodiously] -Excellent!

Nice!

If Opal wants to do this the hard way

we'll do this the hard way. Brutus, activate back-up plan.

You got it, boss.

Back... Up... Plan...

Period. Enter.

-[loud clang] -[both] What was that?

[The Shadow cackling]

My evil assistant here just released the creature

from your creature containment room.

Have a look.

[creature chittering]

That should make things trickier.

-[creature growling] -[both] Uh-oh.

That is yet another van memory I will cherish.

When we both said "uh-oh," at the same time.

Ah...

[The Shadow cackling madly]

To be continued...

And now, the rest of the story.

[creature hissing]

Don't worry, this van is huge.

The creature would have to be pretty lucky

-to be able to find us. -[door opening]

Then again, we all have lucky breaks.

Fear not, for I have wrestled alligators and crocodiles.

Often on the same day.

Follow me!

[shouting]

[screaming]

-Omar, what are you doing here? -Looking for the two of you!

Have you spotted the creature?

There's a creature in the van?!

Yeah, but it's fine.

We only need to get through one more door

to reach the main control room and then we get our van back.

Opal, we're getting way too close

to the Lake of Goo.

It's time to give up.

But we're the Odd Squad Mobile Unit.

Think about all the places we've been together.

[emotional instrumental]

[Omar] I've seen enough!

We've definitely gotta save our van.

Oswald, find a way to slow us down.

[Oswald] What happened?! You were supposed

-to convince them. -[creature screeching]

I'd love to explain,

but we're running from a creature. Bye!

[Oswald screaming]

This thing definitely needs a parachute

to make it go slower.

Hello?

-Anyone there? -Hi there!

Didn't I just meet you a second ago?

Oh, you must mean Donna, my twin sister in Dirtpile City.

I'm Deborah, from Mudpile City.

Oh... Let me guess, you sell mud?

No. We sell Cobb salad wraps.

But if you buy one you get free mud.

Derek! Show this guy our wraps.

It might be a minute, he's stuck.

Of course he is!

Mud creates even more friction

than dirt because it is stickier.

It'll slow down the van's wheels even more than dirt!

You wanna buy a wrap or not?

Yes.

And go heavy on the mud.

[The Shadow] What is it with these agents?

Give up already! I have an eye doctor appointment

-I need to get to. -Want me to cancel it?

You can't cancel, it's a minimum -hour notice.

I'm calling your eye doctor.

Do not call her.

Fine, call her.

See what you can do.

In the meantime, I'm gonna help this creature find our agents.

[creature warbling]

Guys, brace yourselves.

I found a way to slow down the van.

-Whoa! -What's happening?

I bought a surprisingly good Cobb salad wrap

and got mud with it.

[all] Ew!

The mud isn't on my plate,

it's on the road, slowing down the van.

Nice work, Oswald.

We're in the hallway with the final door.

-And so is the creature! -[hissing]

[screaming]

That's the madmelodia. And there's only one way

-to stop it. -[Orla & Opal] How?!

-By yodelling. -[growling]

Omar, take the door.
