We live in a big, beautiful world.

Leo: I'm Leo.

Andy: I'm Andy.

Carmen: And I'm Carmen.

Our parents work in a circus that travels

all around the world and we travel with them.

Andy: So we never know where in the world we will end up next.

(train whistling)

Carmen: But wherever we go, we know that

Luna the Moon will be there with us.

Carmen: You can't move the moon.

Andy: What is that Carmen?

Carmen: It's my Hiroshige, guys!

Two blocks connected by rope

that make an awesome sound when you clack them together.

My mom gave it to me.

It comes from the place we are today!

Andy: But where are we today?

Carmen: That sounds like a good question for the Magic Globe!

Magic Globe: Konichiwa, everybody!

That's how you say hello in Japanese!

Kids: Koo-Neee-Chee-Wah!

Magic Globe: (chuckling) You got it!

Today we are in the capital city of Tokyo,

in the country of Japan, where most people speak Japanese.

Japan has a long history

and many unique traditions

including Sumo Wrestling,

a sport where two strong wrestlers

try to force each other off their feet

or out of a ring.

It's a special and respected art.

Andy: Those sumo guys look strong!

Magic Globe: You know it, Andy!

Have fun in Tokyo everyone!

Kids: Thanks, Magic Globe!

Carmen: Sumo sounds super cool,

but I think my favorite thing from Tokyo

is still my Hiroshige!

(Hiroshige clacking)

Leo: It does sound great Carmen.

Kinda makes me wanna march around and dance!

(Hiroshige clacking)

Andy: Yeah Leo, I think I'm getting it too.

(mellow music) (Hiroshige clacking)

Salami Strong: This, my friends,

is my brand new trick for the performance tonight.

I call it, Toe of Steel!

Hoppers: (applause)

(mellow music) (Hiroshige clacking)

(Salami screams)

Salami Strong: Owchie!

What have you done to my toe?

Carmen: I'm so sorry, Salami Strong!

I didn't mean to clack your toe!

Salami Strong: Children, I need this toe for the show tonight!

Without it, I cannot perform my

Toe of Steel

It was an accident.

Don't worry, Mr. Salami, I have an idea!

We'll just find another strong man to replace you!

Salami: But who could replace the Toe of Steeeel!

Carmen: I'm not sure.

We'll just have to go into Tokyo and find out!

Leo: But Carmen, we don't know anyone in Tokyo!

Luna: I do!

Luna: Konichiwa, friends!

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, what do ya say! ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day! ♪

Luna: Hi everyone!

Who is it that you're looking for in Tokyo today?

Carmen: We have a problem, Luna.

Salami Strong was practicing his big strong toe act,

and I, I accidentally clacked

his toe with my Hiroshige!

Luna: Yeah, you've got to be careful with those things.

Carmen: Will you come to Tokyo with us

to find someone strong enough

to perform Salami's act tonight?

Luna: I'd love to, Carmen.

In fact, I think I know a couple of friends

who could help us out.

Here we are guys!

This called a Sumo Beya.

Kids: Sumo Beya!

Luna: A Sumo Beya is where Sumo wrestlers practice!

Carmen: Oh yeah, Sumo wrestlers.

Magic Globe taught us about them.

Luna: But we should try and stay quiet,

so they can concentrate on their Shiko exercises!

Shiko exercises are important stretches for Sumo

to help the wrestlers warm up.

Jiro: (gasps) Luna!

Konichiwa, Luna! - Konichiwa, friends!

Carmen, Andy, Leo,

these are my friends Jiro, and Hideki.

Kids: Konichiwa!

Kids: Konichiwa! Jiro: Welcome to our Sumo Beya.

Jiro: Welcome to our Sumo Beya.

This is where Sumo wrestlers train every day!

Carmen: As a Sumo wrestler, you must be strong!

Can you lift big, heavy things,

with just your toe possibly?

Jiro: Well, we've never tried toe-lifting before

Carmen: Oh.

Jiro: But strength is not just about lifting things, Carmen!

To be a good Sumo wrestler you need many types of strength!

Carmen: Many types of strength?

You mean there's more than one?

Jiro: Of course! Let us demonstrate, Hideki!

Luna: Ooh!

Jiro: You see friends,

Sumo wrestling

has dozens and dozens of moves.

Different moves!

Each using strength

in different ways!

And most importantly, Carmen,

your mind must be strong,

so you know when to use which move!

My favorite move beats Hideki every time!

It's called Okuridashi. - Carmen: Okuridashi?

Jiro: With Okuridashi, when Hideki tries to push me,

I just move out of the way and push him instead!

I'll show you!

(Hideki grunts)

(Jiro grunts)

Carmen: Did you see that, Luna?

Jiro b*at Hideki with his Okuridashi move!

Luna: That's what I call strength of ideas, Carmen.

Carmen: Yeah!

In fact, I think I've got an idea!

Jiro, Hideki!

Do you think you could bring

a sumo wrestling match to our Circo tonight?

Jiro: I'm not so sure, Carmen.

A sumo match needs much preparation.

A Sumo ring, or Doyho,

must be made days before by skilled people.

Carmen: Okay, okay, not a real match then.

But how about an unofficial sumo act, just for fun?

Jiro: An unofficial sumo act?

What do you think Hideki?

Hideki: (whispering in Japanese) - Jiro: Uh-huh, right.

(sighs) My dear Carmen,

I'm afraid an unofficial sumo act is simply

a fantastic idea!

Carmen: Yay!

Meet us this afternoon at the Circo Fabuloso!

Let's go, everyone!

We've got a show of strength to do!

Señor Fabuloso: Ma, ma, ma, ma.

Hockbar: Here you are, Señor Fabuloso, sir.

Carmen: Senor Fabuloso?

Señor Fabuloso: What, what, what,

what is the meaning of this?

Oh, hi Luna.

Luna: Konichiwa.

Carmen: We got a replacement act for Salami!

Señor Fabuloso: A replacement?

Why do we need to replace Salami Strong?

Please explain.

Carmen: Well, I accidentally clacked

Salami's toe with my Hiroshige this morning.

But we went with Luna to get Sumo wrestlers

to fill in while Salami rests his toe.

This is Jiro and Hideki!

Señor Fabuloso: Clacked toe?

Salami out?

Sumo in?

Well, anyway, I am honored to have Sumo wrestlers.

Are we ready to put on a show?

Jiro: Hideki says we're always ready!

Since this is an unofficial match,

we'll just need a circle drawn in the sand.

Señor Fabuloso: Got it.

Come along, Hockbar.

You need to draw a circle in the sand.

Hockbar: Yes sir, right away.

Carmen: Alright, everything's coming together.

This calls for a Hiroshige dance party!

(Hiroshige clacking)

(Hideki screams)

Hideki: My toe!

Señor Fabuloso: Slippery sushi!

The Mad Clacker is at it again!

Not another clacked toe!

Carmen: Oh no, I did it again!

Oh, I'm so sorry, Hideki!

Señor Fabuloso: Without Hideki, the Circo has no Sumo act!

And it's two minutes until curtain time!

Jiro: No trouble.

I can still put on a sumo show

if anyone else is willing to wrestle me?

Carmen: Luna, could you do it?

Luna: Me?

I don't know.

I haven't wrestled in a sumo match in forever.

My Mawashi is probably pretty dusty.

Señor Fabuloso: Please Luna!

You must save us!

Luna: (groans) Oh, okay.

I guess.

Señor Fabuloso: Mwah! Thank you!

And you, little butterfly, this better be entertaining!

You and your clacker got us into this mess!

Clacking toes, aye, yi, yi!

Carmen: What do you think, Luna?

Do you think it will be as entertaining

as Salami Strong's Toe act?

Luna: I just hope I remember my Sumo moves.

It's been so long.

Señor Fabuloso: Ladies and gentlemen!

I regret to tell you that

Salami Strong will not be performing

his famous toe act tonight.

(crowd booing) Man in Crowd: Hey!

The whole reason I bought a ticket

was to see Salami Strong's Toe!

Señor Fabuloso: Now, now.

But we do have a special treat for you!

An unofficial Sumo match between Jiro,

a local sumo wrestler, and Luna the Moon!

(crowd cheering) (mellow music)

(dramatic music)

Bird: He can't move the moon!

Bear: We want the toe back!

Hideki: Humph?

Bear: But Sumo is great!

I, I, I love Sumo.

Carmen: Luna, nothing's happening!

Jiro can't move the moon!

Jiro: (grunts) What do I do?

Carmen: Hmm.

(gasps) Wait, I know!

Use Okuridashi!

We learned it at the Sumo Beya today!

Luna: Wait, what's that again?

When Jiro uses his strength to push you,

you step out of the way and push him!

Luna: Good thinking, Carmen! (grunts)

(crowd gasps)

(Jiro screams)

Bear: I'm okay!

(crowd cheering) Luna: Jiro?

Jiro, are you okay?

Jiro: That was great thinking using Okuridashi on me, Luna.

Luna: (laughs) That was actually Carmen's idea.

Jiro: Ah, Carmen.

You have great strength of the mind.

Carmen: And unfortunately, great strength of Hiroshige.

But thank you, Jiro,

and thank you Luna for filling in for Hideki.

Uh, Luna?

Luna? - Luna: Hi, Carmen.

It was back-up-in-the -sky-time again.

Are Hideki and Salami doing okay?

Carmen: Yeah, they're fine. I checked on them.

Even though it took accidentally clacking a few toes,

I learned a lot about

different types of strength in Tokyo, Japan today.

But I want to learn more.

Luna: There's more to learn from any place we visit.

But remember, there's always tomorrow.

(whistling theme song)

Andy: Hi, this is Andy with a fun story from Japan

about a magic tea kettle .

Once there was a man who found a Japanese raccoon-dog

called a "Tanuki" caught in a trap in the woods.

(whimpering) (mellow music)

Feeling sorry for the poor animal,

the man set it free.

(upbeat music)

(knocking on door)

That night, when the tanuki went to thank the man,

he saw him break his tea kettle.

(gentle music)

The Tanuki couldn't talk,

but he had magic powers and decided to show his thanks

by changing himself into a tea kettle

to replace the broken one.

The new kettle was so beautiful,

the kind man gave it to a Monk who loved beautiful things.

The Monk filled the kettle and put it over the fire.

To the monk's surprise,

his new tea kettle grew legs and ran out the door!

The Tanuki-Kettle ran back to the kind Man,

who was surprised and delighted .

The Tanuki-Kettle and the Man became well known

for their deep and unusual friendship.

Together, they entertained guests and friends

for the rest of their lives.

Leo: Lizardzilla.

(gentle music)

(screaming)

Shrews: (screaming)

Andy: That's right,

Andy-zilla strikes again!

(roaring)

Shrews: The green monster, he's back!

Leo: Oh boy.

You guys are playing Lizardzilla again?

Carmen: Yes! We're so excited to see the new Lizardzilla movie

with Luna today!

Andy: What are we waiting for?

Let's go! (giggling)

Wait, where is this movie theater?

Where are we?

Carmen: Someplace Lizardzilla is popular, I guess!

Magic Globe: You're right, Carmen!

Today we're in the city of Tokyo, in the Country of Japan.

Tokyo is one of the largest cities in the world.

Among other amazing things,

Tokyo has a rich tradition of movie-making.

Japanese movie-makers make all kinds of movies,

but one kind they're famous for is

Kaiju movies!

Leo: Kai joo?

Magic Globe: Yup!

Kaiju means strange beast in Japanese.

These movies feature giant monsters,

(crash)

like Lizardzilla!

Kaiju movies are a true Japanese art form!

(roaring)

Carmen: Thanks, Magic Globe!

Leo: Luna's a huge Lizardzilla fan too!

I bet she's already at the theater!

Andy: Let's go!

Andy: Let's go! (upbeat music)

Leo: Whoa, it's so crowded!

But where's Luna? Carmen: Look, there she is!

Luna: Hi, guys!

Carmen: ♪ Luna, come and play! ♪

Leo: Whoa!

Luna, you got all dressed up for the movie?

Luna: (chuckling) Yeah!

I'm a little bit of a Lizardzilla fanatic.

I even bought a Lizardzilla toy!

Lizardzilla: Give me a hug or I'll sit on you!

Luna; Aww! (toy squeaks)

Let's head in! The movie's about to start!

Kids: Yeah!

Luna: Excuse me.

(dramatic music)

Leo: Man, this is gonna be awesome!

(Lizardzilla roars)

Deer: Huh?

(screams)

It's Lizardzilla!

(people screaming) (dramatic music)

Elephant: Run, run for your lives!

Carmen/Andy: Whoa!

Cool!

Luna: Ooh! (Leo whimpering)

(whispering) Leo, are you all right?

Leo: Luna, I-I don't know if I can keep watching the movie.

Can we leave early?

Like now? - Luna: Of course we can, Leo.

Leo: Sorry, guys.

I-I was just too scared!

Luna: It's okay, Leo.

I was a little scared too, but just movie-scared.

But Lizardzilla's only make-believe.

He can't hurt you.

Leo: I know, but it seems so real.

Luna: Hi, Ishiro.

Kids, this is my good friend Ishiro.

Luna: Actually, in Japan, you don't say mister or missus.

Instead, you show respect by putting san

at the end of a name, like Ishiro-san!

Leo: Oh, I think I get it!

Kids: Hello, Ishiro-san!

Always a pleasure to meet Luna's friends.

Luna: Great job on the movie by the way.

It's your best work yet!

Kids: What?

Andy: You made Lizardzilla, Ishiro-san?

That's amazing!

Leo: Well, we would have,

but we left early 'cause I was too scared.

Carmen: Your studio?

Really?

Andy: You'll show us where you made Lizardzilla?

Ishiro: Yes, come.

It's just around the corner.

Both: Awesome!

Luna: C'mon, Leo, I think you'll especially like this.

Leo: Well, okay.

Ishiro: Here we are!

Ishiro Studios, where we make Lizardzilla movies.

Andy: Cool!

Carmen: Look at all this Lizardzilla stuff!

(upbeat music)

(screams)

Luna: Leo, what's gotten into you?

Leo: It's Lizardzilla!

He's real!

Ishiro: This old thing?

It's just the costume

that we use to make the Lizardzilla movies.

See? It's just pretend!

Carmen: Whoa, cool!

Andy: Are you the one who wears the monster suit, Ishiro-San?

Ishiro: No, I prefer to stay behind the camera.

The costume is worn by a talented actor

who knows how to make Lizardzilla move just right.

Leo: But Lizardzilla is totally huge!

This costume is totally normal size!

Ishiro: Ah, but we have special tricks to make him seem huge.

Leo: Can I touch it?

Ishiro: Sure, go right ahead.

Leo: It feels like rubber!

Ishiro: That's because it is rubber!

Even the teeth. They're soft.

Leo: It's not so scary up close.

Ishiro: No, but when you see the costume in the movie--

Leo: It looks so real!

Ishiro: Remember when I told you we have tricks

to make Lizardzilla look bigger than he is?

I'll show you how it works.

Kids: Wooow!

Andy: Look, teeny-tiny Tokyo!

Carmen: The city we're in today!

(gasps) Can we walk on it?

Ishiro: Sure!

Andy: There are even little cars and trees!

Luna: Amazing! Check out the detail in these buildings.

Leo: Here's the movie theater we were at this morning!

Andy: Beep beep, comin' through!

Leo: But Ishiro-San, what about the tricks?

How do you make Lizardzilla look so huge?

Ishiro: Well, you see, when I get down here

with the camera and look up,

suddenly, the city looks normal-sized,

and it is you who looks huge!

Leo: Wow, amazing!

Luna: That's right, Leo.

Even though they seem real, movies are just pretend!

(gasps) Whoops!

Sorry, Ishiro-San.

Ishiro: That's okay, Luna.

They're meant to be knocked down.

They are easily put back together.

Carmen: From this angle,

Leo and Luna look like real Kaijus!

You should call this movie

Leozilla versus the Moon Monster!

Ishiro: Hmmm, that's not a bad idea.

Leo, how would you like to try being Lizardzilla for a day?

Leo: Well, I guess if I'm Lizardzilla,

then I can't be scared of myself!

I think I'm feeling brave enough to watch Lizardzilla now!

Ishiro: I've got an even better idea!

Andy: The Moon Monster is attacking the city!

Carmen: Don't worry!

Leozilla always saves the day!

Look, there he is now.

(roaring)

Luna: How are you doing?

Leo: Now I understand that Lizardzilla

and all movies are just pretend.

I'm actually having fun being a little movie scared.

(dramatic music) (roaring)

Luna: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!

Carmen: The Moon Monster is retreating!

Andy: Leozilla saved Tokyo!

(Luna whimpering) (roaring)

(cheering)

Andy: I hope I didn't really hurt you Luna.

Luna?

(cheering)

Luna: Sorry, Leo, I had to leave early.

It was getting late.

Leo: I didn't hurt you when I was Leozilla, did I?

Luna: No, remember?

Movies can't hurt us.

And you were an amazing Leozilla!

Leo: Thanks.

And thanks for taking me to Ishiro-san's studio.

After seeing how Lizardzilla is made,

I'm not afraid anymore.

I want to see even more Kaiju movies!

Luna: (chuckling) I think we've seen and starred

in enough movies for one day.

And there are a lot of other cool things to do in Tokyo.
