Leo: We live in a big, beautiful world.

Leo: I'm Leo.

Andy: I'm Andy.

Carmen: And I'm Carmen.

Our parents work in a circus that travels

all around the world and we travel with them.

Andy: So we never know where in the world we will end up next.

(train whistling)

Carmen: But wherever we go, we know that

Luna the Moon will be there with us.

Wrinkles (munch)

Leo: Oh, no!

Wrinkles, stop munching those tulips!

Leo: What's the fascination with tulips anyway?

Wrinkles: (munch)

Andy: Yeah! What's up with these tulips?

Wrinkles (munch)

Carmen: Maybe we should ask the Magic Globe?

Magic Globe: Hi, everyone!

Carmen: Hey, Magic Globe, why are there so many

tulips around here?

Andy: Yeah, where are we?

Magic Globe: (giggles) It's springtime in Istanbul, Turkey!

Magic Globe: In Istanbul, most people speak Turkish

and say "merhaba" for "hello"!

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Merhaba, Magic Globe!

Magic Globe: Hundreds of years ago, Sultans ruled Turkey

and lived in beautiful palaces like Topkapi Palace!

Andy: Wow! I love the designs!

Some look like swirly-curly tulips!

Magic Globe: Good eye, Andy!

Tulips in Turkey go way back...

Magic Globe: Turkey was one of the first places to grow tulips

and offer them to the rest of the world.

These colorful flowers are a part of Turkey's history!

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Thanks Magic Globe!

Leo: My tortoise Wrinkles has history...

he has lots of stories from his past.

He's been to Topkapi Palace

and his grandfather actually worked there!

Leo: Show them the painting, Wrinkles.

Andy: Let me see that...

Leo: See?

That's Wrinkles' grandfather and his friend at Topkapi Palace.

Andy: What?!

Why would they need a tortoise at a palace in Istanbul?

Carmen: Yeah, who'd want a fossil

wandering around such a fancy palace?

Carmen/Andy: (laughs) Leo: (grumbles)

All I know is he was very important!

Leo: Wrinkles is a proud tortoise

with a strong family history.

Leo: Maybe Luna can remember what his grandfather did?

She's got the longest history I know!

Wrinkles: (munch) Luna: Oh, hi there, Wrinkles.

Leo: Hey! It's Luna!

Carmen: ♪ Luna, Come and play! ♪

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, whaddya say! ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day! ♪

Andy/Carmen/Leo: ♪ Show us the world, lead the way! ♪

Luna: Merhaba, everyone.

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Merhaba, Luna!

Luna: Are we talking about this good looking fella?

Wrinkles: Eeeeeee!

Leo: Yeah, I got Wrinkles from an old gardener when the Circo

traveled through Istanbul a couple of years ago.

Luna: Yup, I remember.

Leo: The gardener said Wrinkles' grandfather

was a very important tortoise at Topkapi Palace!

Luna: Makes sense.

Leo: ...but Andy and Carmen don't believe me!

Leo: You were around then, Luna.

Do you remember what Wrinkles' grandfather did at the palace?

Luna: (nervous chuckle)

Yeah, I should remember, shouldn't I? But, well...

I don't. Sorry.

Andy: Maybe you don't remember because

he didn't really work there?

Carmen: Mm-hmm.

Leo: Yes, he did! See, Luna? Check out this painting!

Luna: Oh wow... this does look familiar...

(sniffs)

I think I'm getting something... No.

Still can't remember.

But it does look like it was painted

at Topkapi Palace here in Istanbul.

Leo: Maybe you'd remember if we went to the palace?

Luna: Sure, that could jog my memory.

To the palace!

Luna: This way, friends!

Andy/ Carmen/Leo: Luna??

Luna: Over here!

Luna: Hmmm...

Leo: What are you doing, Luna?

Luna: Looking for clues.

Long ago, Topkapi Palace was home to Turkish Sultans,

but now it's an amazing museum.

I was hoping to find something tortoise-related

to jog my memory, but, so far, no luck.

Carmen: This palace is beautiful, Luna!

I've never seen anything like it!

Andy: I don't know if Wrinkles' grandpa ever saw anything

like it either! Leo: Yes he did!

This palace is full of Wrinkles family history!

And Luna and I are going to prove it!

Luna: You bet, Leo.

Now let's get to it, we've got a big beautiful palace to search.

Leo/Luna/Carmen: (laugh)

Leo: Wow, that was awesome!

Andy: Topkapi Palace rules!

Carmen: But there's still no proof that any tortoises

ever worked here, Leo!

Andy: Unless maybe Wrinkle's grandpa was Chief Tulip-eater!

Luna: Yeah sorry, Leo, I guess coming to the palace didn't do

much for my memory after all.

Leo: (sigh) It's okay, Luna.

I guess we'll never be able to prove the true history of

Wrinkles' grandpa.

Maybe he really didn't work here.

Oof!

Leo: Wait a second.

Has anyone seen Wrinkles?

(crunch) Serhat: My tulips!

What have you done to my tulips?

They have all been tortoise-chewed!

Leo: Oh, no! Wrinkles!

Luna: Wait a second, Leo... my... my memory...

I think it's coming back!

Serhat: Oh, Mr. Tortoise... you have ruined my garden!

Luna: Serhat!

Serhat: Hello, Luna.

Luna: Serhat, does that tortoise remind you of anyone?

Serhat: No, I don't know anyone that wrinkly.

Luna: Look harder, Serhat...

what if he were a bit more smooth in the face?

Serhat: Smooth? In the face? Could it be?

Serhat: (gasp) Smoothie!

My old friend. How I've missed you!

Leo: Uhmmm...

I think you've got the wrong tortoise, mister.

Andy: Yeah, his name is Wrinkles!

Serhat: (laugh) He may be wrinkly now,

but years ago he was called Smoothie!

And he was my very good friend! Wrinkles: (gulp)

Leo: And now he's my very good friend!

Andy: How cool!

Wrinkles knows that gardener guy!

Leo: I thought he looked familiar!

He's the guy who gave us Wrinkles

the last time we were in Turkey!

How did you know, Luna?

Luna: Wrinkles' painting, guys!

It reminded me of my friend Serhat!

Luna: I know I'd seen that face somewhere.

And then it hit me

Long ago, Serhat's grandfather

was friends with Wrinkles' grandfather.

And I was the one who painted this picture!

Luna: (laughs)

I'm sorry it took me so long to remember, Leo.

My memory gets foggy after a couple hundred years!

Serhat: May I see that, Luna?

Ah yes, this is my grandfather Nazim with Smoothie's

grandfather, Smoothie Senior!

Our families have been great friends for many years.

We have lots of history together

and many stories from the past!

Leo: Does that mean you know what

Wrinkles' grandfather did in the palace, Serhat?

We've been trying to find out all day!

Serhat: Of course I do, child!

Smoothie Senior had a very important role in the palace.

And it had to do with, you guessed it... tulips!

Serhat: Long ago, a Sultan named Ahmed III created a wonderful

festival called Fete of Spring.

There were exotic birds, decorations

and tulips everywhere!

Serhat: Tortoises would wander through the tulips with candles

on their backs, creating a beautiful, colorful glow.

Serhat: Smoothie senior was one of those tortoises,

only he could carry several candles at once,

making him the brightest of all.

Serhat: My grandfather planted tulips, just like me!

And together with Smoothie Senior, they showed everyone at

the festival the true beauty of the Tulips of Istanbul.

Nazim: (scream)

Serhat: And that's what Smoothie's

grandfather did in the palace, friends.

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Woooow!

Leo(lovingly) Wrinkles!

I knew your stories were true, old pal!

Andy: Leo... we never should've doubted you and Wrinkles.

Carmen: Yeah, we just couldn't imagine the

little guy had such an amazing family history!

Andy: It turns out, Wrinkles' grandfather had

the important job of lighting the tulips for a Sultan!

Andy/Carmen: We're sorry, Leo...

Leo: It's okay guys, Wrinkles and I forgive you.

Serhat: Friends...

my tulips are still tortoise-trashed,

and it's getting late!

I need to finish my planting for today,

but I can't do it in the dark!

Leo: Whooaahh!

Serhat: Smoothie? Do you have an idea?

All: (gasp) Serhat: Ah-ha!

Great thinking, Smoothie!

You'll light up the night, just like your grandfather!

Luna: Nice goin', Wrinkles!

Andy: Who knew Wrinkles had a battery- powered

lamp in his shell?

What else is in there?

Luna: Never mind that.

Whaddya say we help Serhat get his Tulips replanted,

by the light of the Tortoise.

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Yeah! Let's do it!

Serhat: Ohhh! Thank you, everyone.

With your help, my tulips will be more beautiful than ever.

Serhat: Luna, pass the shovel please!

(enthusiastic chatting)

Andy/Carmen/Leo/Luna: (hearty laughing)

Andy: I wanna plant more tulips!

Carmen: (chuckles) Andy!

Any more and you'll be more tulip than frog!

Leo: I had such a wonderful time in Istanbul today, guys.

Thanks for showing us around, Luna!

Luna?

Wrinkles:(crunch) Luna: Peek-a-boo!

Leo: Luna!

Luna: I had to go back in the sky, Leo.

Better late than never.

Leo: Sorry we kept you out so late, Luna.

But I'm glad we found out about Wrinkles' family history.

And the tulips of Topkapi Palace!

I do kinda want to keep exploring Istanbul though...

Luna: Well, there is much more to explore anywhere we go!

But remember, there's always tomorrow!

Leo: Hi! It's Leo, with a story called 'Lake of Yogurt'.

It takes place in Turkey

where yogurt has been a very important food

for thousands of years!

Once, in a village near a lake <span> ,

people often asked for advice from a wise,

but curious man named Nesreddin Hodja.

They were always surprised by his solutions.

One day, people saw Hodja walk to the lake

with a pail of yogurt <span> .

Hodja sat on the shore and started scooping yogurt right

into lake and stirring it up <span> .

It was absurd!

The next day, Hodja did it again,

scooping his yogurt into the enormous lake.

What was going on?

A child asked, "Hodja, what are you doing?"

"Ah," Hodja replied,

"I am trying to turn this entire lake into yogurt."

(laughter)

The people laughed.

The lake was hundreds of miles around.

It would never turn into yogurt.

It didn't make sense.

A village elder said, "Hodja.

This will never turn the whole lake into yogurt."

"Ah..." said Hodja,

"...but what if it did?

What if it did?"

(Turkish music)

Andy: (hmm)

Carmen: Wow, Andy, that's quite the mountain of drawings!

What are you doodling up there?

Andy: Oh, hi Carmen!

I'm trying to draw that thing-a-ma-jig

way in the distance,

but I can't quite figure out what it is.

Andy: My best guesses are...

...a big birthday cake...

...a sky-diving crab...

...a castle for space-knights...

... or four rockets at tea time!

Leo: (gasps) It's like a maze in there!

Andy: Ah, Leo!

Did you find it?

Leo: Yup, here it is!

Andy: Cool. I knew it was in there somewhere!

Andy: I call this one... "Just a building".

Carmen: It's too tiny to make out.

Andy: Yeah, well...

I wish I could capture what it really looks like...

...but we're way over here.

And it's way over there...

Leo: Wait... where is here?

Carmen: That's a good question, Leo.

Let's ask the Magic Globe!

Magic Globe: Hello, everyone!

Today we are in the city of Istanbul

in the country of Turkey.

Istanbul is a fascinating place with friendly people,

amazing art, and beautiful buildings.

Andy: Is this a building in Istanbul?

Magic Globe: Yes, Andy, but not just any building.

It's the Hagia Sophia, famous for its beautiful dome...

the largest in the world for years!

Hagia Sophia has been used for many things, but today it's a

museum that's visited by people from all over the world.

Magic Globe: Have fun drawing Istanbul!

Carmen/Leo/Andy: Thanks, Magic Globe!

Andy: All right!

You heard the Globe!

I've got to draw the Hagia Sophia!

Leo: But Andy, how do we get there?

Luna: (struggles) (grunts and groans)

Whoooaah!

Ho! Whew!

I thought I'd never get out of there!

Carmen/Leo/Andy: Luna!

Carmen: ♪ Luna, come and play! ♪

Leo: ♪ Luna's here whaddya say? ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day! ♪

♪ Carmen/Leo/Andy: ♪ Show us the world lead the way. ♪

Luna: Hi, kids. Welcome to Istanbul!

Andy: Luna, do you know how to get to the Hagia Sofia!?

My pencil is just itching to draw it!

Pencil: Must... draw...Hagia Sofia!

Luna: Hagia Sophia? Sure I love that place.

I know the way. C'mon.

Luna: Here we are, The Hagia Sophia!

Andy: Wow. Before, it was small, but now it's huge!

Ready, set...

Draw!

Hmmm...

Almost got it.

Carmen: Uhh.. Andy?

These don't really look like the Hagia Sofia...

Yeah, this one sort of looks like a wall...

Andy: Oh no, you're right!

These drawings don't capture the Hagia Sofia at all!

But I'm drawing what I see!

Luna: Hmm... it is a pretty good wall.

Andy: It's just too big!

And I'm so small!

How am I supposed to draw the Hagia Sofia

if I can't see it all at once!?

Luna: Andy, sometimes it helps to look at things

in a different way.

There's a place nearby I think you'll find interesting.

Andy: But what about the Hagia Sophia?

Luna: It's not going anywhere.

C'mon.

Luna: Almost there...

just right through these gates...

Andy: What is it?

Luna: And... Ta-da!

Carmen/Leo/Andy: Whoa!

Andy: Luna used her magic to turn us all into giants

Andy: Watch out, Carmen!

Don't step on any people!

Luna: (laughs) We didn't get big, this is Mini-Turkey...

a miniature park filled with little versions

of famous places in Turkey.

Andy: Oh, I guess that's cool too...

Luna: And, look! They have a train!

Hop in guys, I'll show you around.

Andy: Awesome!

Mini-Turkey!

Luna: (with effort) This is... a bit of a...

tiiight squeeeze...

Luna: There.

Now how do I work this thing?

Carmen: Ready when you are, Luna!

Our seatbelts are fastened.

Luna: Okay! Ready?

Go!

Leo: Luna!?

Are you sure you know how to drive this train?!?

Luna: Never mind that!

Look at all of the beautiful mini-buildings!

Luna: Woooooooo!

Luna: Get your camera ready, Andy.

On your right, you'll see...

Miniataturk Stadium. Leo: Aaagh!

Luna: Library at Ephesus. Leo: Aaaagghh!

Luna: Uh, this is your captain speaking.

Coming up on...

Ataturk international airport.

Leo: Ahhhh!

Andy: Everything is so cool!

And so miniature!

Leo: Please make it stop!

Luna: Okay, guys.

We're going back, but it's going to take a little

off road action.

Hold on!

(screech)

All: Yay!

(screech)

Andy: (cheering) (screech)

Woooo! Alright, that was awesome!

Luna: (grunting)

(pop) Wow!

That is one sweet ride.

Leo: Ugh. So much for a little kiddy train ride.

Luna: Actually, the main reason I brought you here

is to show you one very special mini-building.

Luna: Hagia Sophia!

Andy: Cool! It's not too big

and it's not too small!

It's the perfect size for me to draw!

Leo: Oh no... Here we go again...

Andy: I've done it!

I've captured the beauty of Hagia Sophia!

Kedi: (prrr)

Andy: Whoa!

Where'd you come from, kitty?

Kedi: Please. The name's Kedi, not Kitty.

Luna: "Kedi" means "cat" in Turkish.

Kedi: Where did I come from? I live here in Mini-Turkey.

In fact, I've never left.

So where did you come from?

Andy: We came from the real Hagia Sophia.

It was too big for me to see the whole thing,

so I drew this little one!

Pretty good, huh?

Kedi: Ehh... it's okay...

Luna/Leo/Carmen/Andy: Okay?!

Kedi: The outside looks fine, but what about the inside?

Andy: What about the inside?

Kedi: Oh, it's only the most beautiful part of Hagia Sophia.

Carmen: How would you know if you've never left Mini-Turkey?

Kedi: I don't need to.

I've got my own little Hagia Sophia right here...

Kedi: Wow, it's so amazing in here...

and the best part, the dome!

Kedi: Sooo beautiful...

Andy: Hey, no fair!

I can't fit in here!

Kedi: That's too bad.

I guess you're just too big to see it all.

Andy: (straining effort)

Andy: Wait... first I was too small...

now I'm too big.

I can't win.

I'll never capture all the beauty of Hagia Sophia.

Andy: I want to see it all at once...

inside and outside!

Luna: Andy, remember how I said it can help to look at things

in a different way?

Well, sometimes you need to see something

many ways to understand it.

Andy: Do you mean we have to go back to the real Hagia Sophia,

so I can see the inside?

Ughhh...

Luna: Yes, but it's not just where you see it,

it's how you see it.

Let me put it this way...

♪ An artist needs to look and see, ♪

♪ to draw or paint reality. ♪

♪ Where you stand, your point of view ♪

♪ changes what you thought you knew. ♪

♪ Sometimes you can get up close ♪

♪ when tiny details mean the most. ♪

♪ But sometimes details just confuse. ♪

♪ So back away for longer views <span> . ♪

♪

♪ Over there you seem so small. ♪

♪ Over here, you feel ten feet tall. ♪

♪ What you see near or far ♪

♪ it all depends on where you are <span> . ♪

Andy: You're right, Luna.

There's no one right way to look at something.

If I want to capture the full beauty of Hagia Sophia,

I need to see it in all different ways:

big, small, inside, and out!

Let's go back to the real Hagia Sophia for a different look!

Luna: It's settled then...

Carmen/Leo/Andy: Hooray!
