We live in a big, beautiful world.

I'm Leo.

I'm Andy.

And I'm Carmen.

Our parents work in a circus that travels

all around the world and we travel with them.

Andy: So we never know where in the world we will end up next.

[train whistling]

Carmen: But wherever we go, we know that

Luna the Moon will be there with us.

Chorus: ♪ Traveling the world as a trio ♪

Andy: Beetlemania.

[crowd murmuring]

Andy: C'mon, boy!Leo: What's that, Andy?

Andy: It's my new electronic Zappy Pet.

He's a tomato. [beeping]

Leo: You have a pet tomato?

[stomach grumbling] [crying]

Why is he crying?

Andy: Ugh, he just does that when he's hungry.

Whatever. I'll feed him later.

Carmen: Speaking of feeding, Andy...

...thanks for feeding my hamster Honey,

while I filled in at Circo band practice.

Andy: Oh yeah...about that.

I do remember

saying I would feed Honey,

but I sort of think I didn't remember

to actually feed Honey.

Carmen: [angry] Andyyyy!

Honey must be starving!

Andy: Sorry, Carmen!

Carmen: Honey!

Honey: [weakly] Carmen? Foooood!

Aahh...aahhh.

Ugh!Carmen: Andy!

You told me you would take care of her

until I got back.

It was your responsibility!

Andy: It was?

I don't even know what responsibility means.

Carmen: A responsibility is when

you're in charge of something

and trusted to take care of it!

Tell me you at least know where her cage is.

Andy: Of course I do! It's, uh--

Um-- Oh!

Right there!

See? Here it is!

Carmen: That's not Honey's cage.

Leo: Ahh! There's a bug in there!

Carmen: Actually, I think it's some kind of Beetle.

Andy: Hey,

You're right. Huh! Weird.

Sweet box though!

Carmen: Andy! That was probably someone's pet!

Andy: Huh? A pet Beetle? [wings buzzing]

Beetle: Squeak! Andy: Hmmf.

Honey: That's his cage,

he has an owner and he wants to go back home.

Andy: Wow, Honey! You speak Beetle?

Honey: No! It's obvious.

Andy: Oh. Well, I wonder where he came from?

Honey: Maybe you should ask the Magic Globe?

Gee, what would you do without me?

Carmen: Good idea, Honey.

Magic Globe: Hi, everyone!

If that little critter is from where we are today,

then he's from the city of Tokyo,

located in the country of Japan.

Tokyo is an enormous city,

with lots of fun things to do,

whether you're downtown among high-tech buildings,

or in the lush green parks!

One fun thing people like to do here

is keep insects as pocketsized pets!

Andy: Like my Zappy Pet?

Magic Globe: Well, electronic pets and games

are popular in Tokyo,

but I'm talking about real pet insects.

The one you found is called

a Kabutomushi Beetle, or,

as it's known in English,

the Rhinoceros Beetle.

Beetles, crickets, butterflies

and other insects are popular pets here!

Have fun in Tokyo, friends!

Kids: Thanks, Magic Globe!

Andy: So, he's a Beetle from Toyko, huh?

Carmen: We have to return him to his owner, Andy.

And since you found him, he's your responsibility.

Andy: Aww, what?

Leo: Until we find his owner, that is.

Andy: [reluctant] Okay, deal.

But let's make this quick.

It couldn't be too hard to find this little guy's owner.

How big a place is Tokyo anyway?

Whaaaaaaa... This is Tokyo?

It's huge!

Carmen: Magic Globe was right.

Leo: Tokyo is a big place for a tiny Beetle.

Beetle: Squeak! Squeak!

Andy: Ha! You keep squeakin'.

I think I'll call you "Squeaks!"

All right, Squeaks, let's get this over with.

[city traffic noise]

Andy: Do any of these people

look like pet-Beetle owners to you guys?

Luna: That was delicious! See you next time, Akari!

Hhnnh!

Uh-oh...looks like I ate too much ramen again.

Kids: Luna!



Carmen: ♪ Luna, come and play!

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, whadaya say? ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day!

Andy/Carmen/Leo: ♪ Show us the world lead the way! ♪

Luna: Hi, friends, welcome to Tokyo!

Ooo, what do you have there?

Andy: It's a pet Beetle we found at the Circo,

and we're trying to find his owner.

For now I'm calling him Squeaks.

Can you help us, Luna?

Luna: Hmmm...a lot of people have pet insects here,

so I'm not sure who he could belong to.

But I do know Tokyo, so I can help you search!

If you wouldn't mind helping me out of this doorway.

Andy: Sure thing!

Luna: Thanks, guys.

Carmen: Ready? One, two...

Andy/Carmen/Leo: ...three!

[pop] All: Oof!

Carmen: Andy! The cage!

Andy: Oh no! Squeaks!

[thunk] Stop that bike!

I'm comin', Squeaks!

Aahhh!

[thump] Ughhh...Dah! Where is he?

Squeaks: Aaaaaaaagh!

[splat] Squeaks!

Cook: [humming]

Andy: Excuse me! Pardon me!

Excuse me...oh no!

That's the bowl Squeaks fell into!

[gasp]

Cook: Chopchopchopchopchop!

Andy: Aaaaagh!

[water bubbling] [splashes]

Andy: Aaah, Squeaks...

Little buddy...

[wings buzzing]

Squeaks?...Squeaks! You're all right!

Squeaks: [squeaks]

Andy: Sorry, Squeaks.

I've gotta keep a closer eye on you.

Luna: Andy! Are you all right?

Andy: Yeah, I think we both are. But that was a close one.

This city is so big and busy!

I don't know if we'll ever find Squeak's owner.

Luna: I know. A huge place like Tokyo can feel overwhelming.

But if we stick together and keep searching,

we'll get Squeaks home safe and sound!

Luna: ♪ Home sweet home can be hard to find ♪

♪ when you're lost and left behind. ♪

♪ It's easy to feel so small ♪



♪ In a city so tall.



♪ Buildings reaching enormous heights. ♪

♪ Trains and buses and traffic lights. ♪

♪ Crowded sidewalks and so much more. ♪

♪ Hard to find what you're looking for. ♪



♪ Busy, busy, Feeling dizzy,

♪ Keep looking, You'll succeed. ♪

♪ Stay on track, no turning back. ♪

♪ 'Til you find exactly what you need. ♪



♪ Even in a place so vast, ♪

♪ searching leads you

♪ to what you want at last.



Andy: That's a very nice song, Luna,

but I don't think we'll ever find Squeak's owner.

Carmen: Tokyo is just sooooo big.

Leo: It'll take us a week to look through this whole city.

It's kinda hopeless.

Squeak: [squeaking] Andy: Squeak!

Squeaks: [squeaking] Andy: You know,

I've really grown attached to this little guy.

Squeaks: [squeak] Andy: Heh-heh-heh.

You know what? Maybe I should be his new owner.

What if I just keep Squeaks?

Carmen: I mean, you have been taking

really good care of him.

Andy: Yeah! I'm responsible!

I'm not gonna lose him like his last owner.

Besides, if he really cares,

there'd be "Lost Beetle" signs

everywhere! Luna: Um, Andy?

Andy: Hmm? Okay, one lost Beetle sign.

Leo: A-hem.

Andy: These could be old signs.

[paper rustling]

Luna: Hi, Soma!

Soma: Oh, Luna the Moon!

So good to see you!

I'm having a problem.

I've lost my precious little Beetle.

We were at a Circo performance

and suddenly he was gone!

I've looked everywhere for him.

I talked to a Fabulous Flamingo,

I checked the lost and founds around the city.

I even filed a missing Beetle report!

Luna: Well, you're in luck because...

Andy: Hold on! You say you lost a beetle?

Describe him.

Soma: Let's see, he's um--

he's brown, has six legs,

and one of those TV antenna thingies

sticking out of his head. Andy: Eh, could be any Beetle!

Soma: Oh! And he sings tenor

in the Tokyo All-Beetle Choir!

[whistles]

Squeaks: ♪ Lalalalalalaaaa!

Andy: Sounds like a baritone to me. Ugh!

Okay, okay, fine!

Here you go, Mr. Soma. [sniffle]

I, I believe this is your Beetle.

Soma: Lionel! Oh, I've missed you so much!

Andy: Lionel, huh? I've been calling him Squeaks!

Soma: Oh yes! Little Lionel-- my little Lionel.

Andy: You promise you'll be responsible with him, right?

Soma: After today, I will never take my eyes off

little Lionel again.

Tell you what.

I can see you really care for Lionel,

so why don't you all come over to my apartment

and I'll show you what a nice home he has.

Luna/Carmen/Leo: Yeah!

♪ [funky music]

Andy/Carmen/Leo/Luna: Whoa!

Beetle Heaven!

Carmen: Is that Lionel? He looks so cool!

Leo: Check this out!

He even has his own little cozy corner!

Luna: Looks like a pretty good home for Lionel,

doesn't it Andy?

[zappy pet beeps] Andy: Yup.

Oh, right! Gotta feed my Zappy Pet!

[zappy pet beeps]

Soma: Andy, I can't thank you enough for taking

such good care of Lionel

and returning him to me.

As a token of my gratitude,

I'd like to give you a grub!

Andy: A grub! Wow!

What's a grub?

Soma: [chuckles] A grub is a baby beetle.

Andy: No way! Thank you, Mr. Soma!

Guys, look! My own real pet baby beetle!

I can't wait to feed you, make you a cage,

send you to college--

Luna, look at my--

Luna? Oh!

Luna, look what i got!

Luna: Wow! Is that your own pet Beetle?

Andy: Well, he's a pet grub right now,

but he's gonna grow up to be a beetle!

I think I'll call him

Professor Kilroy Tokyo Hockenberry the Third!

Luna: That's really, uh, cute, Andy.

Andy: I'm so happy to have a real pet!

Luna: It's a well-deserved gift

for all your hard work.

You really learned to be responsible today.

Andy: Yeah, Luna, today was so fun.

Tokyo is amazing!

And huge!

I only saw a small part of it!

Luna: There's more to any city we visit, Andy.

But remember, there's always tomorrow.

♪ [whistling theme song]

Leo: Hi, it's Leo with a folktale from Japan

called "The Stonecutter."

Once there was a Stonecutter,

who was tired of cutting stone in the hot sun.

"I wish I could be something else for a change!"

Just then-- Mountain: Uooooooh!

Leo: the Mountain spoke:

"All right, Stonecutter, what do you want to be?"

Stonecutter: [gasps]

[clang]

Leo: The surprised Stonecutter thought and said,

"Well, it might be nice to be a prince,

so someone would hold up an umbrella

to shield me from the sun."

Mountain: Uooooooh!

Leo: Poof, he was a prince!

But the sun b*rned through the umbrella almost instantly.

Servant: [screams]

Stonecutter: Oh!

Ooooh!

Leo: "Wow, the sun is so powerful.

I wish I could be the sun!"

Poof, he was the sun!

But, of course, being the sun was a whole lot hotter.

"Ouch, I have never known a stone

to complain about the heat."

I wish I could be a stone!

Poof, he was a stone!

Cutter : Hm!

Stonecutter: [gasps] "Wait, wait, wait!

I want to be a Stonecutter again!"

'Poof!' for the last time.

Because, finally, the Stonecutter smiled,

and so did the Mountain.

Mountain: Uooooooh!

Leo: The End!

Andy: Robokid! Beep bop boop bop beeep!

Leo: Woosh! Cabooooom!

Prepare to meet your baker, Chunk bot !

Carmen: Ha! There is no stopping me!

Leo: We'll see about that!

Carmen/Leo: Haha-heh-heh!

Bee bop boop--! Andy: Vzzzt-k! Pssshhhh!

Beep! Ultra Brobot Boy active.

Greeting mode initiated!

Hey, guys!

Carmen/Leo: Hi, Andy!

Leo: It looks like you've become a robot.

Andy: Thanks. It's a little something I put together.

Because, someone's gotta protect this city.

And, that someone is--

Ultra Brobot Boy!

Leo: Cool! But what city are you protecting?

Andy: This one.

Leo: Mmf. Don't know what this one is.

Carmen: Let's ask the Magic--

Wait a minute. Where is--?

Andy: Portable Navigation System online! Beep!

Magic Globe: Boop-boop!

[robot voice] Greetings, children.

Carmen: I thought my pocket felt lighter.

Leo: Where are we today, Magic Globe?

Magic Globe: Today we are in the city of Tokyo,

in the country of Japan!

Tokyo is a very busy, very modern city

known for many technological advances,

some in the field of robotics!

Robots are incredibly popular in Japan.

You'll see them all around here in one form or another.

There are robot dogs, robot TV shows,

and even giant robots in the city!

Like this -foot statue of

"Robo-Supreme:

Guardian of the Universe"!

Andy: Awesome! I wanna be just like Robo-Supreme!

Magic Globe: Yep, some of the most advanced robots

in the world are right here in Japan!

And the Japanese word for "Robot" is "Robotto"

Andy/Carmen/Leo: ROBOTTO!

Magic Globe: Your mission? Get out there and explore!

Andy/Carmen/Leo: Thanks, Magic Globe!

Leo: Andy, are you done playing robots?

Andy: No, Leo, I'm afraid I'm just getting started.

Leo: What are you talking about?

Andy: You heard the Magic Globe.

This place is Robo-City.

After all this time, it could finally happen.

Carmen: Umm...what could happen?

Andy: My transformation into

what I was always meant to be.

...A Robot Boy.

Carmen: I don't know.

Are you sure you can just become a robot?

Andy: Carmen, of course I can.

You heard the Magic Globe,

they can do anything with robots here.

In fact, I hear a robot converter now.

It sounds like...

...slurping.

Luna: [slurrrrrrrppppp]

Hey, guys!

Carmen/Leo/Andy: Luna!

Carmen: ♪ Luna, come and play!

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, what do ya say? ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day!

Kids: ♪ Show us the world, lead the way! ♪

Andy: Hey, Luna, are those Japanese Ramen noodles?

I hear they're the favorite food of robots.

Can I try some?

Luna: Sure. But what's all this talk about robots?

Andy: Actually, I was wondering if you could tell us...

[slurps] where's the best place to go for robot stuff?

Luna: Oooohh...Hmm...

I know the perfect place for robot stuff:

The Miraikan National Museum of Science and Innovation.

Andy: Science and Innovation?

That includes robots?

Luna: Yes and, as a matter of fact, this month they even have

a special exhibit on robots. Leo: Hey--

Andy: Roboooooots!

Luna! I have got to see this museum!

Luna: All right, Andy!

It's actually not too far from here.

Follow me! Andy: [giggles]

Carmen: Sure, we'd like to come.

Thanks for asking.

Andy: Oh-boy! Oh-boy! Here we go!

Luna: Ooooooh...it's much bigger than I remember!

Leo/Carmen/Andy: Wow!

Leo: This place is incredible!

Luna: Thanks, Takashi!

Okay, guys, I got tickets for a fun museum tour.

Where's Andy?

Leo: He's over there... meeting his future relatives.

Luna: What?

Andy: This is it...

Luna: Uh, yep...this is the museum, all right.

Andy: Yes! The time has come!

Luna: What time has come?

Andy: Robot time!

Luna: Whoa, Andy! Slow down! The tour hasn't started yet!

Andy: I can't slow down now.

Not when I'm so close to my goal!

Ah...Robo-lifting thing?

No!

Roboscoopy thing? No!

There's gotta be a robo-transformation-pod

thing somewhere!

Luna: I don't understand.

What's this "goal" you're talking about?

Leo: Oh, right, I guess you didn't hear that part.

Andy wants to become a robot.

Luna: ...a what?

Andy: That's right... You heard him.

...I wanna be...a robot.

Robot Voice: ............

Andy: ♪ I wanna be a robot A super robot boy ♪

♪ With extra-special powers

♪ I'm not talking about some toy ♪

♪ I wanna be a robot

Zoom up in the sky ♪

♪ Fit me with your techno-wings I really gotta fly! ♪

♪ Wire me up or wind me up

♪ I really don't care how

♪ But I want some cool robotics I sincerely want 'em now. ♪

♪ An engineering breakthrough Is what I wanna be ♪

♪ I want buttons, gears and gadgets ♪

♪ Over every inch of me

♪ Plug me in and charge me up

♪ Just make me strong and fast ♪

♪ Electronic-supersonic

♪ Zip and zap and blast,

♪ Cyber-soft-and-hardware Hyper-cool and mega-size ♪

♪ Robo-arms and legs A robo-brain and x-ray eyes! ♪

♪ I wanna be a robot,

♪ A super-robot boy

Andy: ♪ I wanna be a robot,

♪ A super-robot boy! [fading music]

Andy: [Exhales] Ahh...

I'm ready for my robot transformation.

Luna: I hate to be the one to tell you Andy,

but I think you are a little confused about real robotics.

Andy: What do you mean?

Luna: The robots you're talking about only exist

in sci-fi books and movies,

not in the real world.

Andy: But robots are now. We're surrounded by robots.

Hiro: That is true. Andy: Wha?

Hiro: Hi, I'm Hiro. Maybe I can help.

Luna: Hi, Hiro. Good idea.

Hiro: Robotics are all around us,

but they help us in real life.

Like in business, science and especially the medical world,

where there have been amazing breakthroughs

that seemed impossible just a few years ago!

Andy: Impossible? Sounds like superpowers to me.

Hiro: Well, I guess in a way you're right.

Robotics have given me powers I didn't have before.

Andy: See! That's what I'm talking about.

What new powers do you have?

Hiro: Well, just recently, I was fitted with these!

[motors and gears whirring]

Andy: Whoa...robo-legs?

Hiro: Yes, these special robotics have given me a gift

that I wasn't born with: walking and standing.

Andy: Cool! Can you also walk through time and space?

Where do I get some of these bad boys?

Hiro: I can see I have more explaining to do.

Luna: Andy, Hiro is part of a special program

that provides him with these robotically enhanced legs.

Andy: How do I get into this special program?

I want to fight for freedom and stuff like that!

Hiro: Well, robotics have given me and others freedom

in a real way! Robotics help lots of people!

I'll show you on the tour.

We will even get around on robots with these special

robotic-mobility chairs!

Andy: Now you're talking! Luna: Yayyyyy! On with the tour!

Whoooaahhhhhhhh!!

How do you stop this thing?!

[boing]

[thud] Guh!!

[grinding/beeping]

[CRASH!] AAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!

I think I lost a bumper.

Hiro: Japan's innovations in robotics have advanced

our quality of life in all sorts of ways!

From industrialized robots that build complicated machines,

to robotic heavy-lifters!

There are also disaster-response robots that help rescue people

after earthquakes or big storms.

And medical robotics don't just help people walk,

they can also do complicated surgery

with microscopic precision.

Andy: I had no idea real robots are so awesome!

And the fact that robotics help you walk is amazing!

Hiro, I'm sorry about all that super-powers stuff.

Now I see that science fiction robots aren't the real heroes.

Even though I will kind of miss my

ultra-brobot-boy dream of becoming a robot..

Hiro: Aww...just because it's not real

doesn't mean it's not cool to dream about.

In fact, I'll show you my all-time favorite robot.

Even better than all the robots in this museum.

Meet Robo Supreme...Guar-

Andy: Aaaaah! Guardian of the Universe!

Crowd: [Ooooh ahhh]

Andy: Whoa!

Carmen/Leo/Luna/Hiro: Whoa!

Andy: [sighs] If only

I had real super powers,

maybe I'd be a hero like him.

Hiro: You know, there are other kinds of heroes out there,

and seeing this statue always reminds me of

the kind of hero I'd like to be.

Andy: You wouldn't mean heroes like...

...Ultra Brobot boy?

Bee-bee-boop.

Hiro: Oh, no. I don't want to be a robot.

I want to be one of the heroes behind the robots!

Andy: Wait...behind?

Hiro: Like the people who created

my robotic leg enhancements.

I want to be a robotic engineer.

Walking around may not seem like a big deal,

but to me, it means having my freedom.

I want to be a part of the future of robotics

so I can help change other people's lives too!

Andy: Whoa. Hiro is a Hero!

I never thought of it like that.

You can be a hero without being a robot.

Thanks for teaching us about robots in Japan, Hiro.

Hiro: Sure, Andy.

It's great to meet a fellow robot enthusiast.

Andy: I still can't help dreaming that someday

there might be an ultra cool Brobot boy flying around

with totally awesome lasers.

In fact, look, what's that up in the sky?

Luna: Beep-bop-boop.

Zeep-zop-zoom.

Zzzzz...zee-oowwww!

Andy: Wow, Luna. I didn't know

you had a robot action figure too!

Luna: Oh, yeah, I picked him up at the gift shop.

And I got him robotic leg enhancements just like Hiro's!

Andy: It's so cool that robotics

have changed Hiro's life for the better,

even if they don't use laser beams or time travel!

I wonder what kind of robots they'll invent

in the future in Tokyo, Japan!

Luna: Well, the sky's the limit, Andy!

There will always be amazing new inventions in any city we visit.

But remember, there's always tomorrow.
