I'm Leo.

I'm Andy.

And I'm Carmen.

Our parents work in a circus

that travels all around the world

and we travel with them.

Andy: So we never know where in the world we will end up next.

[train whistling]

Carmen: But wherever we go, we know that

Luna the Moon will be there with us.

[gasps] Aaaagh! A Ladder!

A black cat crossing my path!!

All bad luck!

Carmen: Andy, what's going on?

Andy: Carmen! Leo! I'm so glad you're here.

I'm having the worst luck day ever!

Leo: Worst luck day?

Andy: I started my morning as always

with a bowl of Lucky Marshmallow Blobs cereal,

which usually has marshmallow blobs,

my lucky number.

But this morning there were blobs!

The unluckiest number ever!

I'm a walking blob of bad luck!

Carmen, Leo, you need to move this bad luck ladder

so I don't walk under it!

Carmen: I think it's better if we found some adults to do it.

Andy: Carmen, please!

Carmen: Okay, if you say so.

Carmen/Leo: Whoa, whoa, whoa...

[whack!]

Andy: Uaaaaaah!

[splat!]

Carmen: You really are having bad luck.

That's the only mud puddle in the whole circo.

Andy: I can't take it anymore!

Carmen: Andy, why don't you take a break from all of this?

Señor Fabuloso is getting ready for some big party.

Maybe we can help him.

Bao: Hi everyone!Carmen/Leo/Andy: Bao!

Andy: Bao, what are you doing here?

Shouldn't you be in China?

Bao: I am in China.

Andy: Freeeakyyyyy!

Magic Globe: Silly Andy, you're in China too.

We're all in China!

All: Hi, Magic Globe!

Magic Globe: Welcome to the city of Beijing,

located in the country of China!

We're here at a very special time because today,

the Circo and all of China is

celebrating Chinese New Year!

Andy: Chinese New Year?

I thought we already had our New Year's celebration.

Magic Globe: Well, Chinese New Year

celebrates the end of winter

and the beginning of spring,

so it comes after your New Year's celebration, Andy.

And it's based on a Lunar calendar,

so Chinese New Year occurs on a different date every year.

It's a fun celebration, with food, fun,

and special performances like...

...the Dragon dance!

The Dragon is a symbol of good luck in China.

The Dragon dance is often performed

as part of the Chinese New Year celebration

and is said to ward off bad luck

and bring good luck!

And in a Dragon dance...

Andy: Wait! The Dragon dance gets rid of bad luck

and gives you good luck?

Magic Globe: Yes! And as I was saying, in a Dragon dance,

each performer helps by holding up a section

of the Dragon with a pole.

They move to the music

to make the Dragon seem alive!

The leader carries something called "the pearl",

and everyone else follows the pearl's movements.

Not long ago, some people made a Dragon

that was over , feet long,

and it danced along the top of the Great Wall of China!

Andy: Wow, that must have brought them tons of good luck!

Magic Globe: Have fun in Beijing everyone!

All: Thanks, Magic Globe!

Andy: You guys, this is so cool!

A Dragon dance could really turn my bad luck around!

Bao, can you help us do a Dragon dance?

Bao: Well, I came to help Señor Fabuloso

with his Chinese New Year decorations,

but I suppose we could put together a Dragon dance too.

Not an official one, just for fun, for the circo.

Carmen/Leo/Andy: Awesome!

Bao: First, we need to make a Dragon.

Are any of you artistic?

Andy: Of course, I'm totally artistic!

And since we are doing this for me,

I'll build the Dragon head and direct everyone else

in making the rest of the Dragon!

And Bao, you'll lead the dance with that pearl thingy.

Oh, boy, I'll get my art supplies!

I'm feeling luckier already!

Ow! [crash!]

Ooooooow!

Luna: Andy, are you okay?

Carmen/Leo: Luna!

Carmen: ♪ Luna, come and play!

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, what do you say? ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day.

Kids: ♪ Show us the world, lead the way! ♪

Luna: Hi, friends! Oh, Bao's here!

Bao: Nice to see you, Luna! Welcome to Beijing!

Luna: So, Andy, what happened?

Fabuloso: Indeed, young Hopper,

what have you done to my circo?

Andy: Sorry, Señor Fabuloso,

I've been having terrible luck today.

That's why we're building a Dragon

and doing a Dragon dance!

Fabuloso: Wait, I have an idea.

What if you make a Dragon and do a Dragon dance?

But will it be ready for our

Chinese New Year celebration?

Andy: Don't worry, Señor Fabuloso.

It's gotta be ready.

It's to bring me good luck.

Melvinis: Yabba-yabba-yabba! Andy: Ooof [impact]

Melvinis: Yabba-yabba-yabba!

Fabuloso: Well, you definitely need it, young frog boy.

Luna: Andy?

Andy: Ugh...I gotta start building this thing now!

I've got it all figured out.

Bao: You know, Andy, I can help.

I have some good ideas. I have done it before.

Andy: Let's see, the Dragon needs a huge mouth,

huge teeth...

Bao: Andy?

Luna: Andy, I'm sorry you're having bad luck,

but Dragon-making is a group project.

It's important to listen

to everyone's good ideas!

Andy: Luna, what are you standing around for?

Can't you see we need to get to work?

Bao, you get started on the Pearl.

Luna, Carmen, and Leo,

you find supplies and work on the body,

and I'll make the most important part,

the Dragon head!

Carmen/Leo/Bao/Luna: Right.

Andy: We're gonna make the luckiest Dragon ever!

Bao: Me too! Hey Andy, that looks great!

I just have one suggestion.

Carmen: I never knew decorating a Dragon

could be so much fun!

Bao: Wow! This looks beautiful!

Andy: Yeah, it's a good start!

Carmen: Start? We're almost done!

Andy: Almost done?

No! It needs to be longer!

The longer the Dragon, the better the luck!

Bao: Andy, a longer Dragon doesn't mean a luckier Dragon.

Andy: Come on, guys, this puny Dragon

is not gonna cure my bad luck!

It's gotta be longer!

Luna: Whatever you say, Andy.

Leo: Is it long enough now?

Andy: Yes!

Carmen/Leo/Bao/Luna: [exhausted breaths]

Andy: Now, that's a Dragon.

Bao: Andy, I'm not sure we'll be able to get this thing to dance.

It might be too long.

Andy: No, it's perfect!

We just need to un-bunch it.

Attention, circo people!

It's Dragon-unbunching time!

We'll just practice the dance and unbunch as we go!

Everyone grab a pole and lift the Dragon into the air!

Carmen: Hoo boy.

I've got a bad feeling about this.

Andy: I'm gonna be so lucky!

Follow my lead, everyone!

Bao: Your lead? [sighs] Andy, remember,

I'm leading the dance, I have the pearl!

Andy: Don't worry, I've got this.

Look at me, I'm a Dragon now!

Andy: Hey, what gives?

Why isn't the Dragon moving?

Bao: [panting] Andy! There you are.

The Dragon is all tangled up with the buildings.

I was trying to lead you a different way...

Andy: Aw, man! My luck is worse than I thought!

We're gonna have to make this Dragon even longer!

Bao/Carmen/Leo/Luna/Crowd: Longer?

Andy: Well, it's clearly not long enough

to give me good luck!

Carmen: I don't think that's why the Dragon isn't working, Andy.

It's actually too long.

Andy: No! You guys aren't listening to me!

Bao: Andy, I know that my demeanor is calm,

but I am upset that you think

we didn't listen to you.

Because...

You didn't listen to us!

Carmen/Leo/Andy/Bao: [overlapping arguing]

Luna: Time out!

[record scratch!]

[sighs] Andy, I think worrying about

your luck has clouded your judgement.

You haven't been listening to your friends today.

And to make this Dragon work,

you're going to need help from all of them.

Andy: I'm sorry, guys.

Luna's right. I can't do this without you.

And Bao ...I should have let you lead the way.

[sad sigh] So, what do we do now?

Bao: Well, I don't see how we can do the Dragon dance

with such a long Dragon.

Carmen: What if we make a shorter, better one?

Andy: Great idea! Okay, guys.

We still have time before the celebration.

Let's put our heads together

and make the best Dragon ever!

All: Yeah!! Woohoo!

Bao: Just remember the moves I taught you.

And follow the direction of the pearl.

Andy: Do you think the Dragon dance will finally

bring me good luck, Luna?

Luna: I think as long as you have your friends by your side,

that's all the luck you'll need.

Fabuloso: Greetings, everyone!

Welcome to the Circo Fabuloso

Chinese New Year celebration!

Crowd: [cheering]

[rhythmic drumming]

Crowd: [gasps]

Andy: We did it, you guys!!

I guess this Dragon really is lucky!

Thanks for teaching us the Dragon dance, Bao.

Bao: It was my pleasure to share

Chinese New Year with you.

Andy: And Luna was right about being a better listener.

Hey, where'd she go?

Luna: Where I go every night, Andy!

Andy: I don't know if it was the Dragon dance,

but I'm definitely feeling luckier!

Luna: You'll always have great luck

with good friends by your side.

Andy: You're right, Luna. I can't wait to spend

more time with them here in Beijing, China!

Luna: There are always good times with good friends

wherever we go, but remember...

Carmen: Hi, it's Carmen with a folktale from China

called The Stolen Axe.

One morning, a woodcutter went out to work

and discovered that...

What? His axe was missing!

[snorts] Uh-uh-oh!

Carmen: He looked all over the place,

in the yard, behind the shed,

in the shed, everywhere!

Somebody must have taken it!

But who?

Just then, the woodcutter saw his neighbor's son

standing in his own yard.

The woodcutter glared at the boy,

searching for telltale signs of guilt.

Sure enough, the boy looked nervous,

hands fidgeting,

eyes darting to and fro.

Obviously guilty.

[grunts]

"I can't prove it,

but that boy definitely stole my axe."

The next day, the woodcutter walked out his backdoor

and tripped over his axe.

He realized that, of course,

this was the exact spot he'd left it.

He looked over and saw the neighbor's son,

who had suddenly lost his guilty look.

- Uaaaah!

- Eeeeh!

Carmen: The end.

Leo: Son of the Dragon King!

Fabuloso: All right, everybody!

Last night's Chinese New Year celebration was Fabuloso,

but it's clean-up time!

Quickly now!

Leo: Man, last night was awesome!

Andy: I know, that Dragon dance was the coolest!

And Dragons are soooo strong!

Leo: Too bad we don't have a strong Dragon right now

to help clean up this mess.

Oh, no, Wrinkles, you don't need to help.

You're just a tiny tortoise.

Wrinkles: [grunts]

Fabuloso: Can someone please move this Dragon lantern?

Wrinkles: [gasps]

Hmmm!

[grunts]

[grunts]

[strains]

[sad whimper]

Fabuloso: What is this?

Why is this wrinkly thing in the way?

Can someone remove this whatchamacallit

so we can get some work done, please?

Wrinkles: [grunts]

Duck: [whistles] Wrinkles: Auggghhh!

Andy: You know, I love how important Dragons are

to Chinese culture and all,

but you wanna know why

I think Dragons are so awesome?

Because they're the strongest and fiercest of all creatures!

Can you imagine having a Dragon for a pet?

Leo: Yeah, a Dragon would be a pretty amazing pet.

Wrinkles: [gasps in fear]

Leo: Wrinkles, I'm sorry, buddy!

You're an amazing pet too! Wrinkles: [sad whimper]

Leo: Wait! Wrinkles, where are you going?

Au Revoir: [grunts] [impact!]

Melvinis: Yabba, yabba, yabba, yabba.

Yabba, yabba, yabba.

Fabuloso: [gasps] What is this?

My custom-made set for the

Melvinis' big performance tonight!

It's ruined! We must fix this!

Melvinis: Yabba, yabba, yabba! Fabuloso: Aye-yi-yi!

Leo: Wrinkles, are you okay? What's that?

You think everyone loves Dragons way more

than small, weak tortoises?

Wrinkles is feeling left out

with all of this talk about Dragons.

Carmen: Maybe we just need to talk about something else.

I bet Magic Globe can help!

Magic Globe: Aw, poor Wrinkles.

But I think I have some info that will cheer him up!

Today we're in Beijing

in the country of China.

Throughout history, the people of Beijing and all of China

have had deep appreciation

for a very special creature of myth and legend,

the mighty Dragon!

Leo: Uhh, no offense, Magic Globe,

but Wrinkles has heard enough about Dragons today.

We're trying to get his mind off Dragons.

Magic Globe: Well, I think he's gonna want to hear this.

In China, there are many Dragon legends,

but have you heard of the Nine Sons of the Dragon King?

Because one of those sons is none other than...

Bixi!

Leo: Bixi? What's so special about Bixi?

Magic Globe: Just that Bixi is part Dragon,

and part tortoise!

Wrinkles: Hmmm?

Magic Globe: He is a symbol of great strength in China.

Legend has it that Bixi is capable

of lifting great weight!

Leo: Whoa! Part tortoise, part Dragon?

Wrinkles: [excited groan]

Leo: What is it, Wrinkles?

Wrinkles: [roars]

Leo: You wanna be strong like Bixi?

Wrinkles: [affirmative groan]

Leo: Thanks, Magic Globe.

I think that's just what Wrinkles needed!

Magic Globe: You bet! And if you go into Beijing,

you'll find statues of Bixi

and lots of other Bixi info.

I'm sure Wrinkles would love it!

Andy: Hey, look! Maybe that Dragon can help!

Leo: Excuse me, big Dragon,

do you know about Bixi?

Luna: You bet I do!

Kids: Luna!

Carmen: ♪ Luna, come and play!

Leo: ♪ Luna's here, what do you say? ♪

Andy: ♪ Luna, bright as day!

Kids: ♪ Show us the world! Lead the way! ♪

Luna: Hey, kids! Welcome to Beijing!

Leo: So, Luna, you know about Bixi,

the Tortoise Dragon?

Luna: Of course!

Leo: Wrinkles is really excited about him.

He wants to learn more about Bixi,

so he can tap into his own inner-Dragon strength!

Luna: Yes, I think Bixi would be

a great inspiration to Wrinkles.

Here in China, Dragons are symbols of power,

strength, and good luck!

The name Bixi actually means

strong and capable of lifting great weight!

And, Wrinkles, since you both have

strong shells and spirits,

I'm sure you can tap into that Bixi Dragon strength.

Wrinkles: Ugh! Awwww!

Leo: [gasps] Carmen: What did he say, Leo?

Leo: He says Bixi is so strong,

he doesn't know if he can get there.

He's just a small, weak, out-of-shape tortoise.

Aye-yi-yi! Andy: Sounds like Señor Fabuloso

is still having trouble fixing that set for the Melvinis.

Luna: Maybe he needs our help?

Leo: Wrinkles, you stay here.

I'll be right-- huh?

No, Wrinkles!

You need to rest!

Wrinkles: [disappointed wheeze]

Fabuloso: Woe is me! Where is your strength?

[echoing] Where is your strength?

Wrinkles: Aaaagh!

Bixi: Greetings, my fellow shelled friend.

Why the long face?

Wrinkles: [sad grunt]

Bixi: What's that? You want to be a big, strong,

tortoise-Dragon like me?

You mean like the great Bixi?

[laughter]

Wrinkles: [sad grunt]

Bixi: Tiny tortoise friend,

strength does not come from

wishing you are something else.

Strength comes from within you,

no matter what size you are!

Look! Even the smallest creatures

find strength in their mission.

But, there is one place where size does matter,

and that is the size of your heart!

Being a tortoise Dragon

is not about being cool.

I find my strength

from helping people.

Helping friends.

Being of service.

You are as strong as your mission needs you to be.

And if you believe in that,

you will find your Dragon strength

when it is needed most.

Dragon...strength... Dragon...strength!

Wrinkles: [wheezes]

Fabuloso: My audience is arriving!

Leo: Oh, yeah!

Luna! Did you see Wrinkles lift the stage?
