Leo: Worst luck day?
Andy: I started my morning as always
with a bowl of Lucky Marshmallow Blobs cereal,
which usually has marshmallow blobs,
my lucky number.
But this morning there were blobs!
The unluckiest number ever!
I'm a walking blob of bad luck!
Carmen, Leo, you need to move this bad luck ladder
so I don't walk under it!
Carmen: I think it's better if we found some adults to do it.
Andy: Carmen, please!
Carmen: Okay, if you say so.
Carmen/Leo: Whoa, whoa, whoa...
[whack!]
Andy: Uaaaaaah!
[splat!]
Carmen: You really are having bad luck.
That's the only mud puddle in the whole circo.
Andy: I can't take it anymore!
Carmen: Andy, why don't you take a break from all of this?
Señor Fabuloso is getting ready for some big party.
Maybe we can help him.
Bao: Hi everyone!Carmen/Leo/Andy: Bao!
Andy: Bao, what are you doing here?
Shouldn't you be in China?
Bao: I am in China.

Magic Globe: Silly Andy, you're in China too.

Magic Globe: Welcome to the city of Beijing,
located in the country of China!
We're here at a very special time because today,
the Circo and all of China is
celebrating Chinese New Year!
Andy: Chinese New Year?
I thought we already had our New Year's celebration.
Magic Globe: Well, Chinese New Year
celebrates the end of winter
and the beginning of spring,
so it comes after your New Year's celebration, Andy.
And it's based on a Lunar calendar,
so Chinese New Year occurs on a different date every year.
It's a fun celebration, with food, fun,
and special performances like...
...the Dragon dance!
The Dragon is a symbol of good luck in China.
The Dragon dance is often performed
as part of the Chinese New Year celebration
and is said to ward off bad luck
and bring good luck!
And in a Dragon dance...
Andy: Wait! The Dragon dance gets rid of bad luck
and gives you good luck?
Magic Globe: Yes! And as I was saying, in a Dragon dance,
each performer helps by holding up a section
of the Dragon with a pole.
They move to the music
to make the Dragon seem alive!
The leader carries something called "the pearl",
and everyone else follows the pearl's movements.
Not long ago, some people made a Dragon
that was over , feet long,
and it danced along the top of the Great Wall of China!
Andy: Wow, that must have brought them tons of good luck!
Magic Globe: Have fun in Beijing everyone!
All: Thanks, Magic Globe!
Andy: You guys, this is so cool!
A Dragon dance could really turn my bad luck around!
Bao, can you help us do a Dragon dance?
Bao: Well, I came to help Señor Fabuloso
with his Chinese New Year decorations,
but I suppose we could put together a Dragon dance too.
Not an official one, just for fun, for the circo.
Carmen/Leo/Andy: Awesome!
Bao: First, we need to make a Dragon.
Are any of you artistic?
Andy: Of course, I'm totally artistic!
And since we are doing this for me,
I'll build the Dragon head and direct everyone else
in making the rest of the Dragon!
And Bao, you'll lead the dance with that pearl thingy.
Oh, boy, I'll get my art supplies!
I'm feeling luckier already!
Ow! [crash!]

Luna: Andy, are you okay?
Carmen/Leo: Luna!

Bao/Carmen/Leo/Luna/Crowd: Longer?
Andy: Well, it's clearly not long enough
to give me good luck!
Carmen: I don't think that's why the Dragon isn't working, Andy.
It's actually too long.
Andy: No! You guys aren't listening to me!
Bao: Andy, I know that my demeanor is calm,
but I am upset that you think
we didn't listen to you.
Because...

Carmen/Leo/Andy/Bao: [overlapping arguing]
Luna: Time out!
[record scratch!]
[sighs] Andy, I think worrying about
your luck has clouded your judgement.
You haven't been listening to your friends today.
And to make this Dragon work,
you're going to need help from all of them.
Andy: I'm sorry, guys.
Luna's right. I can't do this without you.
And Bao ...I should have let you lead the way.
[sad sigh] So, what do we do now?
Bao: Well, I don't see how we can do the Dragon dance
with such a long Dragon.
Carmen: What if we make a shorter, better one?
Andy: Great idea! Okay, guys.
We still have time before the celebration.
Let's put our heads together
and make the best Dragon ever!
All: Yeah!! Woohoo!
Bao: Just remember the moves I taught you.
And follow the direction of the pearl.
Andy: Do you think the Dragon dance will finally
bring me good luck, Luna?
Luna: I think as long as you have your friends by your side,
that's all the luck you'll need.

Carmen: Hi, it's Carmen with a folktale from China
called The Stolen Axe.
One morning, a woodcutter went out to work

Somebody must have taken it!
But who?
Just then, the woodcutter saw his neighbor's son
standing in his own yard.
The woodcutter glared at the boy,
searching for telltale signs of guilt.
Sure enough, the boy looked nervous,
hands fidgeting,
eyes darting to and fro.
Obviously guilty.
[grunts]
"I can't prove it,
but that boy definitely stole my axe."
The next day, the woodcutter walked out his backdoor
and tripped over his axe.
He realized that, of course,
this was the exact spot he'd left it.
He looked over and saw the neighbor's son,
who had suddenly lost his guilty look.

Leo: Son of the Dragon King!
Fabuloso: All right, everybody!
Last night's Chinese New Year celebration was Fabuloso,
but it's clean-up time!

Leo: Man, last night was awesome!
Andy: I know, that Dragon dance was the coolest!
And Dragons are soooo strong!
Leo: Too bad we don't have a strong Dragon right now
to help clean up this mess.
Oh, no, Wrinkles, you don't need to help.
You're just a tiny tortoise.
Wrinkles: [grunts]
Fabuloso: Can someone please move this Dragon lantern?
Wrinkles: [gasps]

I think Dragons are so awesome?
Because they're the strongest and fiercest of all creatures!

Leo: Yeah, a Dragon would be a pretty amazing pet.
Wrinkles: [gasps in fear]
Leo: Wrinkles, I'm sorry, buddy!
You're an amazing pet too! Wrinkles: [sad whimper]

Throughout history, the people of Beijing and all of China
have had deep appreciation
for a very special creature of myth and legend,
the mighty Dragon!
Leo: Uhh, no offense, Magic Globe,
but Wrinkles has heard enough about Dragons today.
We're trying to get his mind off Dragons.
Magic Globe: Well, I think he's gonna want to hear this.
In China, there are many Dragon legends,
but have you heard of the Nine Sons of the Dragon King?
Because one of those sons is none other than...
Bixi!
Leo: Bixi? What's so special about Bixi?
Magic Globe: Just that Bixi is part Dragon,
and part tortoise!
Wrinkles: Hmmm?
Magic Globe: He is a symbol of great strength in China.
Legend has it that Bixi is capable
of lifting great weight!
Leo: Whoa! Part tortoise, part Dragon?
Wrinkles: [excited groan]
