PINKALICIOUS: "Peter's Blues."

PINKALICIOUS (voiceover): I think something's bothering Peter.

(sighs)

What's wrong, Peter?

Oh, I don't know.

I'm feeling (sigh), and a little bit (bigger sigh),

and kinda (sad sigh).

Hm, you're feeling (sigh), and (bigger sigh),

and (sad sigh)?

Sounds like you're sad.

Yeah, that's it!

I'm feeling sad.

How come?

It's, uh... well, um...

Uh-oh, I can't remember

what made me feel sad in the first place.

(sighs)

Oh, does that mean I'm going to feel this way forever?

That makes me even sadder!

Don't worry.

I'm going to help you feel happy again.

You'll be feeling Peterrific in no time!

(sighs)

Wow, you really are sad.

Let's ask Mommy and Daddy for help.

Oh, hi!

Do you want to see my newest invention?

It's called the compost cart.

It takes the compost bucket from the kitchen, and empties it

in the bin on the side of the house.

I'm still working on it.

(sighs)

What's wrong, Peter?

You look a little sad.

He's got a case of the (sighs three times),

and nothing is cheering him up.

Yeah.

Oh, it sounds like you've got a case of the blues.

What's that?

That's when you feel really sad.

You know, I've got something that might help.

It's got to be here somewhere...

(mumbling)

Here it is!

A harmonica?

That's right.

(harmonica riffs)

How is that going to help Peter stop feeling sad?

When you've got the blues,

sometimes it helps to play the blues.

Play the blues?

It's a kind of music that helps you

express your feelings when you're sad.

You can make up a song like... like this.

♪ Wish I knew why ♪

♪ I'm feeling so bad ♪

♪ ♪

Hey, this is making me feel better.

But it sounds so sad.

Sometimes playing sad music when you're sad

can make you feel a little better.

You can hang onto that

and play it whenever you're feeling sad.

Hey, Peter, your shoe's untied.

Thanks.

Aw, the lace broke.

Uh-oh.

(sighs, then gasps)

Wait, I know what to do!

(plays basic blues riff)

Oh no, are you feeling sad now too, Mommy?

I was feeling happy until Peter started playing the blues.

I'm a little blue myself.

I love blues music, but sometimes

it makes me feel a little bit sad.

But I thought playing the blues

was supposed to make you feel better.

It can, if you're already feeling sad.

But music affects people differently.

So, if you're not sad to begin with...

(gasps) The blues can make you feel sad!

I've got to tell Peter,

before he makes anyone else feel sad!

Ugh!

I keep missing the goal.

I know how to make you feel better, Lila.

It's okay, I don't feel that bad.

(plays blues riff)

♪ Lila loves soccer ♪

♪ But keeps missing the net ♪

Now I can't finish my painting, Plummy.

(plays blues riff)

♪ Got no blue paint to use ♪

(sighs)

Oh no, it looks like Peter's been here.

Which way did he go?

Oh, my pencil broke!

(plays blues riff)

♪ Oh, I got the blues ♪

♪ My pencil broke blues ♪

♪ ♪

It's true!

My pencil is broken!

And it's my favorite pencil, too!

(crying)

Mayor Martinez!

Have you seen Peter?

(sobbing)

You're feeling sad, too?

Yes!

I dropped my favorite pencil, and... it broke!

(sobbing): I think I better

close down Pinkville for the rest of the day!

Close down the whole town?

Yes!

This is a sad day for Pinkville.

Oh no! I need to find Peter, fast!

Peter?

Peter?

There you are!

Peter!

Your blues music is making the whole town sad.

It's even starting to make me sad.

Really?

Playing the blues made me feel better,

but I guess hearing the blues made everybody else feel sad.

That's right.

Daddy says music can affect people differently.

So, what do we do to cheer them up?

Well, since your music made everybody feel sad,

maybe you can try playing music to make them happy.

Instead of the blues,

you could try playing...

Hm... (gasps) The pinks!

The pinks?

Yeah, something super-happy- and-feel-good-alicious!

But I don't know any happy songs.

Then let's make something up.

Something with a catchy tune you can dance to.

That makes you want to go,

(excited giggling): Whoo-hoo!

I can try.

(plays riff)

(plays upbeat riff)

Look, it's working!

Come on, let's go cheer up Pinkville!

♪ Playing the pinks and singing them, too ♪

PINKALICIOUS (voiceover): Peter's song cheered everybody up.

And I'm so happy Pinkville is happy again!

KIDS: That's pinkatastic!

(giggling)

Hey, everybody!

I'm Vaneese Thomas, and I'm a blues singer.

When you sing blues music,

you can sing about things that make you sad,

hopeful, or-or even happy.

Can anyone tell me something that makes them feel sad?

It's raining outside and I can't go outside to play.

VANEESE: Oh, that's a good one.

Let's make up a sad song

about it being rainy outside, okay?

(playing downbeat blues tune)

♪ It's raining outside ♪

♪ And I can't go out ♪

♪ To play ♪

♪ Well, my mama told me ♪

♪ That I'd have to stay inside all day ♪

Oh, that's pretty sad, right?

If you're happy,

you can sing the blues in a happy way.

(playing upbeat tune)

♪ Well, the sun is shining ♪

♪ It's a happy day ♪

♪ ♪

♪ Oh, nothing but smiles and gladness ♪

♪ Coming our way ♪

♪ ♪

♪ Oh yeah ♪

(cheering)

PINKALICIOUS: "Pink Raspberry."

(baby babbling)

PINKALICIOUS (voiceover): Peter and I love playing

with baby Saffron.

She makes so many silly sounds!

(babbling)

Saffron!

(gasps) Peekaboo!

(giggling)

Hey, Saffron!

(clicking tongue)

(giggles, then blows a raspberry)

Ha! Did you hear that?

That's called a raspberry.

Like the fruit?

Yes, but in this case,

it's not a red berry, it's a silly noise.

And she only makes raspberries at people she likes.

Well, we like her, too, Mr. Yip!

(blows raspberries rhythmically)

Hey! She's singing a song!

But she can't sing, she's just a baby!

She can't even talk!

DAD: You don't need words to sing a song.

Just a melody.

(in a funny voice): ♪ Bum bom ba ba ba ba baaaaaa ♪

(kids giggling)

And a rhythm.

(beatboxing)

Oh, a b*at!

(rhythmically blows raspberries)

It is a song!

A silly sound song!

MR. YIP: When she grows up,

she's going to be a famous silly-sound singer!

(baby talk): Aren't you?

Yes, you are, you're going to be so famous...

I can do a silly-sound-raspberry song, too!

Listen!

(blows raspberries rhythmically)

(laughter)

(laughter)

PINKALICIOUS: Hey, look,

it's Rafael and Jasmine!

I want to sing my song to them!

Rafael! Jasmine! Listen to this!

(giggling)

(rhythmically blows raspberries)

Um... What?

Hey, Kendra!

It's a song!

Um, it doesn't have any words.

It's got melody and rhythm, and that makes it a song!

BOTH: Oh!

He better be careful who he sings it to.

Some people might not know it's a song.

(gasps)

Like Vice Principal Crunk?

(blows raspberries)

Uh-oh!

Peter! No! Not Mr. Crunk!

Yes, Peter?

Is there something you want to say to me?

(rhythmically blows raspberries)

Huh?

Um, It's a silly sound song, Mr. Crunk.

Yes, I know!

I used to make up silly sound songs

all the time when I was your age!

KIDS: Wow! Really? You did?

Yes!

In fact, I was the silly sound song champion.

KIDS: You were? Wow! Cool! A champion?

My honking hippo and I won every contest.

A honking hippo? What's that?

(chuckling): This is!

(melodically honks and snorts)

(laughter)

Oh, that's so funny!

Wow! No wonder you were the champion!

Sounds like you're on your way to becoming

a silly sound champion yourself, Peter.

(gasps) Yes!

We should have a silly sound song contest!

We can all make up our own silly songs...

...with any silly sound we want!

So long as it has a melody and a rhythm.

And we can ask Daddy and Mr. Yip to be the judges.

KIDS: That sounds great! Whoo-hoo!

How about you, Mr. Crunk?

Will you be in the contest?

(chuckling): Oh, I don't know about that.

Oh, please, Mr. Crunk!

Please!

Well, if you really want me to.

KIDS (cheering): Yay! Great!

Mr. Crunk is going to join in?

In that case, so am I!

We'll have to practice extra hard if we're going to b*at him.

Then let's get practicing!

(all trying out silly noises)

Right.

I'm going to make up a whole new song.

But you've already got a silly sound song, Peter.

It's not as silly as honking hippos, though,

so I'm going to find an even sillier sound!

(making a silly noise): Ahh-oooga! Ahh-oooga!

No, not silly enough.

I need something sillier to b*at Mr. Crunk.

Hey, how about... (cheek pops)

That's silly!

Now you just have to make it into a song.

With a rhythm and...

Melody-- yep, I got it!

Hey, do you want to hear my song so far?

It goes... (cheek pops)

Um, did I say something wrong?

No, it's good, Jasmine.

Very silly!

I guess I'll have to find another silly sound--

one that no one else has thought of yet.

I got nothing!

Pffft!

(giggling): Well, there's a silly sound, right there!

Pffft!

Pffft-pffft-pffft...

I got it! Nobody's going pffft...

Pfft. Aww!

How am I supposed to find my own silly sound

when all the best ones have been taken?

You'll find one, Peter,

I know it!

But you better hurry.

The contest starts any minute!

I know what I'm going to do.

I've got it!

I know! The silliest sound ever.

(clucking like a chicken)

(laughing)

(clucking)

(yells)

(clucks inquisitively)

Four, five, six-- that's everyone.

Wait, where's Peter?

Pinkalicious! I got it!

I thought of a silly sound no one else is doing.

That's great, Peter!

But, save it for the show, we're about to start.

Hello, everybody!

And welcome to the Pinkville Silly Sound Song Contest!

(applause)

(blows raspberry)

(laughter) Thank you, Saffron!

Now, I'd like everyone to pick a number

from the hat to choose what order we go in.

First, first, let me be first...

Aw, fifth? That's next to last!

Ooh, I'm first.

You're so lucky!

No one else will take your sound!

Okay!

Everyone has a number.

Are the judges ready?

We are ready.

Ready! (Saffron babbles)

(laughter)

Then let's go!

Jasmine, you're up!

(melodic cheek popping)

(applause)

(makes "pffft" noises)

(hippo honks and grunts)

(laughing)

And now for our next act!

Ooh! Is it me?

Oh! It's me!

(sighs)

Don't worry, Peter--

you're next!

PINKALICIOUS: My silly sound song is called

Silly Snakes!

(alarmed): Silly snakes?

(hisses melodically)

Oh no... I was going to do hisses.

Your turn, Peter!

Uh, actually, I don't have a song.

I was going to do a silly snake song.

You b*at me to it!

Oh, I'm sorry, Peter.

Um, do you want to try to come up with another song?

That's okay.

Kendra can have my turn.

Thanks, Peter!

Prepare to be amazed by the Cluck Song!

(clucking like a chicken)

(clucks loudly)

Hey! That's not fair.

No one can hear my song

with Saffron making all those silly noises!

Maybe I should take Saffron home.

KIDS: No! Please don't! I love baby Saffron!

No, Mr. Yip, you're a judge-- you can't leave now!

Wait! I have an idea.

Mr. Yip, can I borrow Saffron for a minute?

(laughing): Borrow her?

Sure, as long as you're careful with her!

(giggles)

I'm going to sing a song after all-- we both are.

Right, Saffron?

(babbles)

That's a Peterrific idea!

Introducing our next silly sound singers:

Peter and Saffron!

(babbles) Ga-ga-ga-ga.

Goo-goo-goo!

(both blow raspberries)

BOTH: Wah-ba-whoo!

Ack-acka-pff!

(both blow raspberries)

(laughter)

PETER: Everybody sing along!

ALL: (make babbling noises)

KIDS: Goo goo goo!

(both blow raspberries)

ALL: Whoo-whoo-whoo!

(laughter and applause)

Kendra, would you like another turn?

Thanks, but I think we found our winner.

That's the silliest song I've ever heard!

So, what do the judges think?

(inaudible whispering)

Peter and Saffron!

Actually, I think that should be Saffron and Peter!

She makes the song, and I make the b*at.

(cheers and applause)

DAD: Yes! Good one, buddy!

(laughing): Thank you!

I haven't laughed so much in years!

PINKALICIOUS (voiceover): Anyone can have fun with silly sounds.
