PINKALICIOUS: "The Celebrator!"

(ratcheting)

PINKALICIOUS (voiceover): It's the start of another day,

which means we're one day closer to Pinkville Day!

What's Pinkville Day?

It's Pinkville's birthday!

Towns can have birthdays?

In a way.

This year, Pinkville is celebrating

the day it was named Pinkville!

I wish we could celebrate it every day.

There are going to be pink lights, and pink fireworks,

and pink streamers, and, guess what,

we're all going to sing "Happy Birthday" to Pinkville!

It's going to be the pinkest, pinkaperfect,

pinkatastic party ever!

And there are only days to go!

Isn't days kind of a long time?

Well, it's less than a hundred days, Peter.

Or days, or days, like yesterday.

Pinkville Day is getting closer!

Hmm...

You know, Pinkalicious,

maybe you don't have to wait as long as all that.

What do you think it does?

Don't know, but I'm hoping it has something

to do with pancakes.

Oooh!

The Perfect Pink Pancake Maker!

♪ ♪

I can catch more than you!

I don't think so, Peter Pinkerton!

(giggling)

♪ ♪

(plates crashing)

♪ ♪

Mm! What do you think?

Needs syrup.

(whirring)

Yum, much better!

(giggling)

MOM (chuckling): Oh, Peter

It isn't a pancake maker!

It's even better!

Pinkalicious, press that button.

That turns it on and off.

(whirring)

Oooh!

Confetti?

Streamers?

(gasps) Glitter!

Pink glitter!

(giggling, cheering)

Well, I made it so we can start the celebration

right here at home.

And we don't have to wait!

Oh! Wait! (machine stops)

We can't sing "Happy Birthday" to Pinkville!

How come?

Because it's not really Pinkville Day today.

I'm afraid that's the only tune it plays.

Hm... we can just change the lyrics.

You know, the words.

(whirring)

We heard music!

Mommy invented a new machine for Pinkville Day!

But it's not Pinkville Day yet.

We can celebrate anything with it!

We just make up new words to the song.

Mrs. Pinkerton,

this is your greatest invention ever!

It even beats pancakes!

Although...

...it made kind of a mess.

It sure did.

But watch this....

(vacuuming)

We don't even have to clean up?

Yup!

Greatest invention ever!

What's it called, Mrs. Pinkerton?

I don't actually have a name for it yet.

What do you think I should call it?

Um... maybe?

Any other ideas?

(gasps)

Well..

It's made of old machines, so just be gentle.

(kids cheering)

We need to change the words to the song

so it includes everyone.

(gasps) I know!

(whirring)

(whirring)

DAD: Uh, Pinkalicious...?

Huh? What?

You didn't stay up using the Celebrator all night,

did you?

Not all night...

I fell asleep around ten... to :.

Huh!

Okay, Pinkalicious.

New rule: I want you to only use the Celebrator

when there's something to actually celebrate.

That's a great idea, Mommy!

In fact...

we should celebrate you having such a great idea!

Oh, Pinkalicious, that's not what I meant--

But I'll need to change the words to the song again

so it's all about you, Mommy,

and your great idea. (machine whirring)

Oh, I don't think so, Pinkalicious.

Celebrating is getting kind of boring.

How can anyone find celebrating boring!

Hm...

Maybe I don't mean boring?

(relieved sighing) Oh, right.

I mean annoying.

(gasps)

Celebrating isn't annoying!

How could she say that to you?

(whirring, playing song off-key)

Oh no!

What are you celebrating now?

It won't stop!

It's broken!

That's a funny thing to celebrate.

The Celebrator is broken!

I can't make it stop!

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

(barking)

Can you turn it off, Pinkalicious?

It's spooking Rusty.

Uh... I can't hear myself think!

Pinkalicious, I know you love celebrating,

but can't you take a break?

I'm trying!

(barking)

(whirring and music stop)

(all cheering)

I think the gasket just needs to...

I don't think I want to celebrate anything ever again.

(laughs)

Looking forward to the celebrations?

Oh...

I'm not going.

I'm tired of celebrating.

Aw, that's such a shame, Pinkalicious.

Chocolate chip pancakes!

Why can't we have these every day!

(laughing): Because it's a special treat, Peter.

If you had it all the time you might even get sick of 'em.

(laughing)

I'm not kidding.

Mommy...

Do you think celebrating might be like chocolate chip pancakes?

Sweet and kind of fluffy?

I mean maybe it stops being a special treat

if you do it all the time!

Maybe I do still like celebrating!

(phone ringing)

Hello, Pinkerton residence.

Mayor Martinez?

(indistinct dialogue)

Oh, of course!

I'll come straight away.

Ugh, Mayor Martinez says the town fireworks machine

is broken!

(whirring)

(whirring stops)

Sorry, Mayor Martinez,

I don't think there's anything I can do.

Oh no!

No fireworks?

But that means we'll have to cancel Pinkville Day!

Everyone's going to be so disappointed.

(gasps) No, they're not!

Mommy, you know when I said don't fix the Celebrator?

I fixed it anyway.

I do still love celebrating!

I love the Celebrator,

and I love Pinkville Day!

I do too!

I wish every day could be Pinkville Day!

But Peter, then it wouldn't be special.

(giggling)

ALL: ♪ Happy birthday to you ♪

PINKALICIOUS (voiceover): Not everything has to be celebrated to be special,

but it sure is fun to celebrate the small things

as well as the big things.

ALL: ♪ Happy birthday to you ♪

♪ ♪

KIDS: That's pinkatastic!

(kids giggling)

I'm Steve Gerberich.

I make art that moves.

♪ ♪

I get my ideas from collecting a lot of objects.

(kids chattering)

Saxophone!

Piano!

So I take all the objects that I like, I combine them,

bolt them together, attach them, and I make a sculpture.

And then I gotta figure out

how do I make it move--

either electric motor or maybe even a hand crank.

See his eyes kind of flashing?

♪ ♪

Hey, there's a geese and luggage.

Do you think that makes sense?

No.

Wait, yes it does!

Geese fly to Canada.

Okay, I see chair legs,

and a table leg it looks like...

GERBERICH: This whole piece is inspired by

a kitchen strainer that you strain coffee, tea, or...

Giraffebots,

and then the tiger gets his stripes.

This is called "The Bowling Pin Factory,"

and it's how I think a bowling pin

could be made, painted, and tested.

And if I can get someone to laugh out loud,

tickle their imagination,

or say, "How did he do that?" I think I've succeeded.

(tinkling)

PINKALICIOUS: "Secret Sculpture."

PINKALICIOUS (voiceover): Today is a pinkaperfect day

to explore Pinkville Green.

Who knows what we'll find there?

We are the Pinkville explorers,

searching for undiscovered treasures

never before seen in Pinkville!

Maybe we'll find a secret fortress.

Or a gigantic rainbow flower.

Or a gorilla living in the treetops.

(imitating gorilla)

(kids giggle)

You never know what's hiding in Pinkville Green!

We could even find a secret dragonfly lair

where the dragonflies hide out!

Pinkamagine that!

♪ ♪

Ooh!

(laughing): Wow!

♪ ♪

Ah!

♪ ♪

(giggling)

Yee-haw!

Yay!

And there's a big dragonfly queen

who gives us rides on her back!

I've never gone dragonfly riding before!

Giddyup, dragonfly!

(giggling)

Then let's explore, explorers!

Look around, we might find something

even before we get to the Green!

There's a nest...

and some ants...

and a pink bunny.

(gasps) A pink bunny?

We've discovered a pink bunny!

Uh-oh,

Mr. Plum needs help!

We can help you, Mr. Plum.

Oh, careful, no, Mr. Bunster is delicate.

(giggles) Mr. Bunster?

That's what I call him.

Artists always name their work.

(strained grunt)

(exhales)

I better tie Mr. Bunster with these ropes.

Don't want him to break on the way

to the Pinkville Rabbit Appreciation Society.

Plummy!

You forgot to sign your sculpture!

Oh my, thank you, Plummy!

An artist always signs his or her work, too.

(tapping)

RAFAEL: It's a plum!

For Mr. Plum!

What a pink-a-unique signature!

Oh, thanks, Pinkalicious!

Well, I'm off.

Can't be late for the art show.

(engine starts)

KIDS: Bye, Mr. Plum!

Bye, Mr. Bunster!

Okay explorers, on to Pinkville Green!

♪ ♪

The brave explorers make their way through the jungle,

looking for something amazing.

♪ ♪

Hello!

("Hello" echoes) (giggles)

♪ ♪

Nothing unusual yet.

(Peter gasps)

A gorilla!

(laughs) That's not a gorilla!

It's Vice Principal Crunk!

(giggles)

PETER: Mr. Crunk!

What are you doing in the jungle?

(chuckles)

Well, I'm trying to read my book.

Sorry to bother you, Mr. Crunk.

Come on, let's look over there...

I'm getting tired.

I hope we find something soon.

Wait, what's that?

JASMINE: A flower?

Or a doorknob to a secret fort?

I wonder how long this ball has been here.

You won't catch me playing catch with it.

Hey look, something green.

Maybe it's a frog prince.

or a trash bin.

Two points!

Good idea, Rafael.

Let's go play basketball.

I'm in. Wait!

We can't give up yet!

But we've been exploring for a while, Pinkalicious.

And we haven't found anything interesting.

But there might be something exciting

just beyond those trees.

Wait, I think there is something there.

See?

There's a bit of pink beyond those branches.

♪ ♪

(Pinkalicious gasps)

Oh! Wow!

What is it?

This looks like a slide.

Is this a leaf or a ladder?

(grunts)

These must be petals!

Whoa! Cool!

I think we've discovered your gigantic flower, Jasmine.

I'll say!

Cool!

It's like a secret flower fortress!

Ooh! I'm going to try the slide.

Whee!

It's really fun.

Try it, everybody!

Whoo!

Whee!

Whoopie!

(giggles)

(whooping)

This is definitely a pinkatastic treasure!

(imitating gorilla)

(giggling, exclaiming)

(Peter roars)

What is all that racket?

Look at this amazing

flower thingy we found, Mr. Crunk!

Hmm, it is unusual.

Whoopie!

Oh, what's this?

(gasps)

It's Mr. Plum's plum!

PETER: You mean he made this flower thingy?

It must be one of his sculptures.

Okay everybody, down you go.

What? How come? Why?

If it's a sculpture, then it's art.

You don't play on art.

But it has a ladder...

And a slide!

You'll have to ask Mr. Plum if you can play on it.

But he's not home.

PETER: He's bringing Mr. Bunster

to the Pinkville Rabbit Appreciation Society.

Mr. Bunster is his sculpture.

Oh!

Well, you can enjoy this sculpture with your eyes

for now.

But it's so fun to play on.

It's not fair!

We spent all that time looking for something amazing.

And now all we can do is look at it?

Sorry, kids, until Mr. Plum says it's okay to play on,

it's for your eyes only.

That goes for you, too.

Shoo!

I said shoo!

I don't think we're going to find

another secret sculpture to play on.

We could go to the playground.

What if we make something to play on?

Something that's just as fun as the flower!

But what do we make it with?

We're explorers, remember.

If we keep exploring,

maybe we'll find things that we can put together!

Sure, and make them into something really cool

to play on.

That's the spirit!

(giggles)

(gasps)

I know what we can make!

This looks just like a dragonfly head!

We'll need a body.

And a tail.

Keep exploring, explorers!

Hm, what's all this?

We're making a giant dragonfly to play on, Mr. Crunk.

Ooh, let's put it near the flower.

These vines can be a part of the wings.

Now we need legs!

I'll get rocks for the tail.

This is going to be a pink-credible dragonfly!

How does that look?

Hmm...

It's missing something.

Hmm, I believe it could use some eyes.

Mm, yes, eyes!

Thanks, Mr. Crunk!

Hey, I know just the thing!

♪ ♪

Let's go for a ride!

Here we go!

(giggling)

We're flying!

Whoo!

(exclaiming)

Watch out for that skyscraper!

(Pinkalicious gasps)

Lean this way, everybody!

ALL: Whoa!

(whooping)

Whoo! We made it!

Hold on tight!

We're coming in for a landing!

(giggling)

Climb on, Mr. Crunk!

No, thank you, I have my hands full.

Shoo! Shoo!

(truck backfires nearby)

It's Mr. Plum's truck!

Let's go get him so we can show him his flower!

And our dragonfly.

Shoo! Shoo!

Wait'll you see, Mr. Plum!

(chuckling)

My flower!

I forgot all about it.

It's so nice to see it again after all these years.

Don't worry.

I kept the kids from playing on it.

It is art after all.

(chuckles)

But they're supposed to play on it!

See the slide?

And the stairs?

I made it with extra strong plaster

so kids can jump and climb on it as much as they want!

That's why I call it Daisy Delight.

So, it's art you can touch?

And play on!

It's not delicate like Mr. Bunster.

It won't break.

But what's this sculpture over here?

It's our dragonfly.

Hmm, what's it called?

Oh!

Um...

Dragonfly Queen!

Now we have two sculptures we can play on.

Hey, what if we put them together somehow?

Then we'll have one big sculpture.

We can call it Dragonfly and Daisy Delight.

Great idea!

But first, let's play.

(cheering)

PINKALICIOUS: Aren't you going to play, Mr. Crunk?

Don't mind if I do.

(all laughing)

PINKALICIOUS (voiceover): What a pinkamazing day!

We discovered a sculpture and we made one ourselves!
