♪ It's a pinkatastic feeling ♪

♪ Anything can happen as we play the day away ♪

PINKALICIOUS: "Butterfly Garden Party."

(gasps): Pinkalicious!

Don't... move.

There's a butterfly on you!

Really?

Where?

Whoa!

Whoa, check it out!

It's so pretty!

(gasps): Peter, that's...

That's a pink empress butterfly!

Follow it!

Whoa!

(both giggling)

(chuckles): Well, hello, little birds!

We're not birds, Daddy!

We're butterflies!

Hey, where'd it go?

(gasps)

♪ ♪

(both exclaim) That's so cool!

Shoo!

Shoo, I say, shoo!

Get away from my garden!

Aw, Norman!

Why did you scare the butterfly away?

Butterfly?

That thing is way too big to be a butterfly!

It's a garden pest, I tell you!

It was going to eat my flowers!

I work hard to protect this garden,

and the last thing I need

is some pest flying around causing trouble!

But Norman, it really was a butterfly!

A pink empress butterfly!

And butterflies are good for the garden.

Yeah!

They like to drink the sweet nectar

from the flowers.

And they carry pollen to other flowers

to make more flowers!

Well, I know that!

I'm a garden gnome!

If there was really such a thing as a pink empress butterfly,

I would have heard of it.

They're pretty rare, Norman.

They're only here for one month a year.

How can we get the pink empress butterfly

to come back to our garden?

♪ ♪

(giggles): Whee, I'm a butterfly!

Hello!

♪ ♪

How about more pink flowers?

Lots and lots of them!

And purple ones, too!

Pink empress butterflies love pink and purple flowers.

Then maybe a whole bunch of butterflies will come!

We can turn our regular garden

into a pink empress butterfly garden!

DAD: I suppose we could brighten up the yard with some more flowers!

And we could add some milkweed, too.

Butterflies love milkweed!

Okay, who wants to come with me to the garden store?

Me! Let's go!

(grumbling): Pink empress butterfly.

Ha!

Hey, I was right!

According to "The Big Book of Butterflies,"

"The pink empress butterfly is attracted

to pink and purple flowers!"

Then they're going to love our garden!

All these flowers should attract

loads of pink empress butterflies!

What do we do now?

We wait for them to come!

♪ ♪

(sighs)

I don't think they're coming.

(groans)

(gasps): Maybe they can't find the garden!

We could make a really big bright welcome sign

so the butterflies could see it from really far away!

I didn't know butterflies could read!

(giggles): They can't!

But we can make a sign without any words!

Great idea!

When they fly down to see our sign,

they'll see all the flowers!

Let's get the make things box!

If I were a butterfly and I saw our banner,

I'd definitely want to come to our garden.

(gasps)

(softly): It's the pink empress butterfly.

(sneezes loudly)

Norman! Norman!

(blows nose loudly)

"The Big Book of Butterflies" says

butterflies like a warm place to rest in the sun.

These smooth rocks are perfect.

And here's the wet sandy soil where they can get a drink.

Drink up, butterflies!

Good thing Daddy brought us this milkweed plant.

If I were a pink empress butterfly,

I'd love to hang out here.

What's all this jabbering about pink empress butterflies?

I told you,

there's no... ow, ow, ow, ow!

My toe!

(both gasp)

What's this rock doing here?

Oh, sorry, Norman!

We put it there for the pink empress butterfly

to land on it, so it could stay warm.

I guess we should have warned you.

(yells)

(spitting): Blech!

Whoops, sorry.

That was for the pink empress butterfly, too.

Daddy said they'll only come one month a year,

and I really want to see them before they go away.

Well, I told you, it isn't coming back

because it isn't a butterfly!

Now, real butterflies,

they're going to love these flowers.

Then where are they?

There has to be something else we can do.

Well, if I were a butterfly, I could tell you, but I'm not.

I'm a gnome.

A gnome with a brilliant idea.

Really?

Wings!

We can pretend to be pink empress butterflies

and fly around the garden.

Then maybe they'll come join us!

Come join us, pink empress butterflies!

Fly with us, wheee!

♪ Butterfly, come flutter by ♪

♪ Give our garden blooms a try ♪

♪ Lots of buds and blossoms, too ♪

♪ Pink and purple just for you ♪

♪ Butterfly, butterfly ♪

BOTH: ♪ Gliding through the sky ♪

♪ Come fly with us and see ♪

♪ How sweet our garden can be ♪

Yay! Yay!

♪ If you're soaring way up high ♪

♪ Flutter down, don't be shy ♪

♪ Nectar's here in all the flowers ♪

♪ You can sip for hours and hours ♪

PINKALICIOUS: ♪ Butterfly, butterfly ♪

BOTH: ♪ Gliding through the sky ♪

♪ Come fly with us and see ♪

♪ How sweet ♪

♪ Our garden can be ♪

(giggle)

Peter!

Look!

It's pinkamazing!

There it is again!

That gigantic pest!

It's coming for my garden!

But I won't let it!

Let's just see it try to get past this gnome!

Norman, it's the pink empress butterfly.

And it's beautiful.

Please don't scare it away!

And whatever you do, don't sneeze!

Oh, oh, Norman, don't move. (gasps)

You'll scare it away.

(shudders): What, what's it doing?

PETER: It must like your bright hat.

PINKALICIOUS (giggling): Maybe it thinks you're a flower.

PETER: I think it's having a drink.

It likes the warm rocks!

This butterfly garden was an excellent idea!

Now do you believe it's a butterfly, Norman?

Well, it clearly is no ordinary butterfly.

It's... What do you always say?

It's...

Pinkamazing!

Yeah, that's it!

(gasps): Oh, no!

(thunder rumbling)

It's raining!

Alert, alert!

It's raining in the butterfly garden!

It's raining in the butterfly garden!

Alert, alert!

DAD: Pinkalicious, Peter!

Come inside out of the rain, I've got lunch.

But Daddy!

The pink empress butterfly is here.

Or... it was here.

Oh, no, where did it go?

We worked so hard on the garden, and now it's gone.

(sighs): Tough break, kid.

(groans): See you later, Norman.

♪ ♪

PINKALICIOUS (gasps): Oh, no!

(groans): So much for our welcome sign.

Our poor butterfly garden.

We'll never see our pink empress butterfly again.

(Norman clears throat)

I think you were looking for this?

The pink empress butterfly!

Norman, you found it!

And you kept it nice and dry!

Of course!

It's my job to take care of the garden!

Ooh! (laughs)

(giggles): Norman!

The pink empress butterfly just kissed you!

(giggles) It must really like you.

I think you're right.

I got a butterfly kiss.

PINKALICIOUS: It loves our garden!

PETER: Look at it!

NORMAN: That's some butterfly!

(gasps) Wow!

PINKALICIOUS: They came!

The pink empress butterflies came!

We should make the garden bigger

so more butterflies will come!

Even better, we can make a whole butterfly habitat

where they can lay eggs...

That make caterpillars...

That turn into new butterflies!

Oh, I don't think Norman will mind.

(giggles)

(laughing): Oh! Oh, my!

So many butterfly kisses!

(laughs): They tickle!

(all laughing)

KIDS: That's art-alicious!

CHILD: Today we are making butterflies.

You get card stock, which is basically, like,

cardboard-ish paper.

We fold it in half.

On one side,

we drew the outline of a butterfly.

CHILD: You cut out the butterfly you drew.

We unfold it and we have a butterfly.

You get the paint, and you blob it

on the cut butterfly.

And then we fold the paper, moosh it!

You never know what you're gonna get.

Whoa!

CHILD: It looks symmetrical,

which means it's the same on both sides.

CHILD: Yellow, yellow, red, red,

green, green, orange, orange.

Symmetrical.

I added some yellow paint

because I thought there was too much purple.

There can never be too much purple!

CHILD: I love purple!

CHILD: This is a butterfly.

Now we're gonna let our butterflies dry!

CHILD: We're gonna put them in the sky.

This is our sky.

It's a sheet that we hung up.

We're taping sticks to the butterflies.

CHILD: We taped it onto the middle of it.

So then when you move it,

the air's pushing up against the wings

to make it go like this.

(paper flapping)

CHILD: Butterflies are beautiful,

magical, and colorful.

PINKALICIOUS: "Animal Dance."

♪ I'm on my way to dance class, dance class ♪

Dance class!

Hi, birdie!

Do you want to come to dance class with me?

(giggles)

How about you, Miss Bunny?

Dance class is so much fun! (giggles)

♪ I'm on my way to dance class, dance class ♪

(gasps): Whoa!

Sorry, kitty cat!

I didn't see you there!

Meow-a-doodle-doo!

I mean, um, rooster?

Meow-a-doodle-doo.

I mean kangaroo?

You have the face of a cat...

and wings like a rooster...

and a pouch like a kangaroo...

Or maybe, are you all three mixed together?

Like, like a...

Rooster-cat-aroo?

Meow-a-doodle-doo.

I've never seen an animal like you before!

Oh, wait!

Where are you going, rooster-cat-aroo?

♪ ♪

Meow-a-doodle-doo!

BABY: Meow-a-doodle-doo!

Aww, wait till I tell everyone at dance class about you.

(gasps): Oh, I almost forgot!

I'm late for dance class!

Bye for now, rooster-cat-aroo!

(music playing) Prance, horses, prance!

That's it.

Now... gallop!

Whoa, horses! (all giggling)

(music stops)

(breathlessly): Mrs. Cooper!

I'm sorry I'm so late!

But I just saw the most incredible animal

in the whole world!

Well, that's perfect, Pinkalicious!

Because you're going to love our next class.

We're having Animal Dance Day!

Huh? Animal Dance Day?

Everyone gets to be a different animal

and make up an animal dance.

That's the best idea ever, Mom!

Uh, animals do not dance, Mrs. Cooper.

(class laughing)

True.

But they move in all kinds of interesting ways.

You could move like a giraffe...

Or an elephant.

(kids giggle)

And when you put those moves to music...

Oh, you have a dance!

Right!

So think about an animal you love and how it moves.

Then make up a dance about it to show us next time.

Oh, but I love so many animals!

What should I be?

A cheetah, a mouse?

A monkey?

I know exactly which animal I'm going to be!

Rooster-cat-aroo!

Yoo-hoodle-doodle-doo!

There you are! (giggles)

Guess what?

I'm going to make up a dance about you!

Meow-a-doodle-doo!

BABY: Meow-a-doodle-doo!

♪ ♪

Hopping...

Flapping...

(laughs): Pat, bat, pat.

And pouncing! (giggles)

It is like a dance.

Oh, I wish I could dance with you!

♪ If you want to dance with a rooster-cat-a-roo ♪

♪ Just do what a rooster-cat-a-roo can do ♪

♪ Hop and leap like a kangaroo ♪

♪ Then bat like a cat and pounce like one, too ♪

♪ Now flap and say meow-a-doodle-doo ♪

Meow-a-doodle-doo!

BABY: Meow-a-doodle-doo!

PINKALICIOUS: ♪ So many animals all in one ♪

♪ That's what makes this dance so fun ♪

♪ If you want to dance with a rooster-cat-a-roo ♪

♪ You can add a twirl or maybe even two ♪

♪ Hop and leap like a kangaroo ♪

♪ Then bat like a cat and pounce like one, too ♪

♪ Now twirl like a girl or a boy-aroo ♪

♪ And don't forget to say ♪

Meow-a-doodle-doo!

Meow-a-doodle-doo!

Meow-a-doodle-doo!

PINKALICIOUS: ♪ If you want to dance with a rooster-cat-a-roo ♪

♪ The rooster-cat-a-roo wants to dance with you, too ♪

I can't wait to show everybody our dance!

(kids exclaiming)

Frida, want to go first?

Yes!

I made up a turtle dance.

Because I love turtles.

Slow music, please, Mrs. Cooper.

(very slow melody playing)

(kids applauding, music stops)

Oh! (giggles)

I'm sorry!

(music resumes)

(applauding, music stops)

Still not over.

Oh! Oh.

(music resumes)

(giggles): It's over.

(others applauding) (giggles)

Okay, who's next?

Pinkalicious!

(fast melody playing)

A bunny?

JASMINE: A kangaroo!

RAFAEL: A tiger?

No, a cat!

Meow-a-doodle-doo!

BOTH: Huh? Wait.

Are you a rooster?

Roosters don't twirl like that.

Pinkalicious, what are you?

I'm a rooster-cat-aroo!

A rooster, a cat, and a kangaroo all mixed together!

There's no such thing as a rooster-cat-aroo!

You're supposed to pick a real animal.

Right, Mrs. Cooper?

Well...

A rooster-cat-aroo is real!

She pounces like a cat,

flaps her wings like a rooster,

and she hops like a kangaroo.

Oh, and she says meow-a-doodle-doo!

(flatly): Meow-a-doodle-doo.

Pinkalicious?

Do you think maybe you dreamt about the rooster-cat-aroo?

And when you woke up, you thought it was real?

RAFAEL (laughs): That always happens to me.

Oh, no, she's real, all right.

I saw her in the park.

I'll show you, come on!

You mean, now?

Mrs. Cooper, can we, please?

Well... I don't think we're going to get much done

until we solve this.

You go on.

I have to wait here for my next class.

Oh, maybe the rooster-cat-aroo hopped over to the berry bush.

She loves berries.

She feeds them to her baby.

She has a baby.

In her pouch!

Rooster-cat-aroo!

Are you in there?

Maybe she's hiding under the bush.

Where are you, rooster-cat-aroo?

(all calling)

Maybe we're scaring her.

What if we hide behind this rock

and wait for her to come out?

I'll put some berries on the ground.

Ooh, I hope we get to see her feed the baby!

I'm sure she'll come out soon.

It looks like your rooster-cat-aroo

is a no-show-a-roo, Pinkalicious.

Uh, Pinkalicious, I'm really sorry,

but Frida and I have to go home.

It's getting really late.

I have to go, too.

Maybe we'll see her tomorrow.
