[Daisy]: Moss Mouse.

[bright music]

Ooh, hot.

Hot and dry.

We could use some rain.

Phew, we played hard this morning.

I'm ready for some quiet me time.

[yawns]

[snoring] Cheddar...

Swiss...

Blue...

American...

[snoring]

[Squeeks gasps] Salamander? Where'd you come from?

Oh, I love tree frogs! Big fan! Big fan!

I've never seen you guys around here before.

I'm Squeeks, hello.

[sniffing]

Oh, everything smells wet and earthy.

Like me! Oh! Haha!

I could use a shower!

[gasps] What is all this?

This wasn't here when I went to sleep.

This gleaming green world!

What is all this?

[trilling]

Moss? I like moss, it turns out.

Haha! And yes, I speak fluent moss critter.

Not a lot of people know that.

[trilling]

Oh, oh, oh. You're saying moss needs moisture to survive

and grow more moss, and that rain really helped.

[Squeeks]: Got it. Yes, yes, yes.

Let's play!

Where is Squeeks?!

We have to get back to playing after our naptime.

[Hal]: Whoa, you guys have to see this, baby!

Look this! It's all green and lush,

and all at the same time!

Ahh, the beauty is just breathtaking!

[gasping] See, I just lost my breath!

Man-oh-man, look at all that moss!

Moss? Is that even a word?

Moss? Sounds weird.

Moss...

Hahaha! Of course it's a word!

Moss is... it's, well...

I never thought about what moss is. Is it a plant?

It looks leafy and green, like the plants in my garden.

[Daisy]: And check out those little st*lks.

Hey! When you look closely,

you can see it's lots of individual mosses

that make up this big clump here!

[Squeeks]: Woo-hoo! Yeah!

We must leave the magic of nature,

because we have a mouse to find!

Bye, moss!

It's great meeting you! Hope to see you around!

I'm Hal!

[laughing] Okay, stop, stop!

You found me, you guys!

So, that's a little game I like to call hide-and-seek.

I made it up. It's fun, right?

[trilling]

Well, of course, I was easy to find.

I'm way bigger than you guys. Come on, man!

Haha! You guys ragging on me.

You guys are hilarious.

[Hal]: Squeeks! We found you!

Oh, my other friends. Hey, guys!

We were worried about you, Squeeks!

But it looks like you've been having fun in the moss,

and even made some cute new friends.

Um, yes, this is Salamander and Tree Frog.

And they're here because, like the moss,

they enjoy a shady, wet environment.

As do I.

Well, I know moss is a word,

and I think moss is also a plant.

Tree Frog told me moss was one of the very first plants

to grow on land a very long time ago.

Moss is a lifestyle. Moss is...

[trilling]

[laughing]

[chuckling nervously]

What's so funny, Squeeks?

Sorry, inside... it's an inside joke.

Moss critter humour. Haha!

Doesn't translate.

So, are you a moss critter now too?

Well, I'm more of a leader,

maybe a president, probably a queen.

A queen?!

That's right.

I am Queen of the Moss,

and this is my kingdom!

I call it Mossylvania.

Well, it all sounds fun

and we'll have to come back some time.

But now the four of us need to head back to my place

for play time!

Bye, moss critters. Come on, Squeeks!

I appreciate your care,

but I have no plan, nay, desire

to return to non-moss civilization!

I have found my purpose, my people!

I am The Moss Queen and I shan't abandon

my royal domain!

We don't want to lose you, Squeeks!

Not over moss!

But what'll we do without you?

Yes, I have loved you. But the moss is my destiny.

Be well. Goodbye.

We have to get Squeeks back! Ugh!

What could a Moss Queen want that she doesn't already have?

Ooh, a tarantula?! No, a zebra?!

A tarantula-zebra! A speed boat!

Tickets to Hamilton?!

I wonder...

if there were more moss in our backyard,

would Squeeks come back?

Moss! What a weird word.

Are you in this yard? Moss!

Don't make me say it again! Please.

I don't see any moss.

Maybe we can plant some moss!

[gasps] We can! A moss garden!

[Daisy]: It says here moss does well in lots of places,

even where other plants won't grow.

Like this spot!

Nothing really grows here.

It's shady and the soil isn't good.

But it stays damp, so maybe moss will do well here.

So, how does one make a moss garden?

Maybe we can buy some moss seeds?

Oh! Moss doesn't make seeds like most plants.

[Daisy]: They release spores

from those little stalk things we saw.

And the spores grow into new moss!

But it says we don't need moss spores to make a moss garden.

We can transplant moss from a place that's similar

to this yard.

Ronald's yard has tons of moss,

and his yard is like our backyard.

Yeah, let's get us some Ronald moss

and bring our Squeeks home!

[Squeeks]: Woo! Okay, this is another game

that I like to call tag! I invented this one as well.

Tag!

Go! Woo! Well played, Salamander!

That was great.

You know, my buddy Hal was the best tag player

of all time. Like the best. Oh, Hal.

Okay, tag!

[yawning]

[snoring]

Um, Ronald can be a little cranky

when he's woken from his naps.

Maybe we shouldn't wake him. Trust me. Don't do it.

We'll just ask him nicely for some of his moss

and be on our way.

It's my moss and you can't have it!

It's where I do my best napping!

Please, Ronald.

We want to make Squeeks a moss garden

so she'll come home.

Well, if we don't get her back now,

she'll stay in Mossylvania forever!

Mossylvania?!

As a moss enthusiast,

surely you've heard that Squeeks

is now Queen of the Moss over yonder.

Queen? Ridiculous!

Go ahead, take my moss!

Lure her back! Then I will replace her

as Moss King!

And nap there as a comfy king!

[chuckling]

But if you wake me again, then you cannot have any moss!

[snoring]

[whispering]: Hello tiny strands that are kind of like roots.

Nice work, Hal!

Behold, Ronald the Moss King,

napping in Mossylvania!

[chuckling]

[snoring]

[Daisy]: Hmm. Says we should make the dirt very wet

before we lay down the moss.

I was thinking Squeeks might like some pretty rocks

to sleep behind in her moss garden.

And a bench! Squeeks loves to sit!

Hear ye! Hear ye!

This shall be a moss garden

fit for a Moss Queen!

Pat! Pat! Pat! I'm pattin' for Squeeks!

Squeeks likes moss and she's the boss!

Moss needs to stay very moist.

That will help it grow.

Moss-ture! It will look great!

And Squeeks will love it! I hope.

Oof. Okay. Sorry.

[chuckling]

I know what it's like to be very small.

You just gotta make it work for you, you know?

A good rock to stand on will help. Here you go.

[Daisy]: Squeeks! We want to show you something

we hope you'll like.

Or love!

Is this a trick to get me to abandon my reign?

As the Queen of Moss?

Trick?! I've got tricks! Somebody throw something!

Watch this, you guys, he can do this all day.

[panting]

[Hal giggling]

Please, Squeeks, we just want to show you something.

Fair, if you insist!

Will you come? Salamander? Tree Frog?

Over here, Squeeks!

So, what am I looking at here?

'Cause we are on a tight schedule

back in Mossylvania, game-wise.

We're no Mossylvania,

but we do get how cool moss is.

Just like you, Squeeks!

So, without further ado,

we present the mossy garden for Squeeks the Moss Queen

made by Nature Cat, Daisy, and Hal

with moss from Ronald's backyard!

You kind of have to use your imagination

and picture what it'll look like all grown in.

We were thinking you could be a Moss Queen here, with us.

Oh, please come back!

Guys, this means so much to me.

But I can't abandon the ones who changed my life,

who saw in me the queen I was always meant to be.

We were thinking that with this new habitat,

even more Moss-Queen-loving critters will come around.

Moss is a critter magnet!

You know, I think I might have gotten carried away

with the whole queen thing. I'm so small,

it's nice feeling big for a change.

But I want to be with all my friends!

The big ones and the little ones.

So...?

So, I guess what I'm saying is...

Let's all jump rope together!

[all laughing]

So, now that your Moss Queen is leaving Mossylvania,

I am ready to replace her as your king!

And a find a kingly napping spot in the moss!

[squeaking]

Uh, I'm sorry, what was that?

Woo!

[all laughing]

[Daisy]: Leaf Moving Machine Mayhem.

Ah... Practicing Tai Chi in nature

always makes me feel so calm.

[roaring]

Ahh! What was that?! A mountain lion?! A brown bear?!

It was just Ethel, baby.

[loud roaring]

Hey, Ethel, what's up, honey? Why are you roaring like that?

Because I'm angry! That's why!

Litterbugs keep dumping litter in the park

where I play chipmunk chess!

[Ethel]: And the food they dump is starting to smell!

And the plastic containers are flying in the air

and getting caught in the trees!

And my salamander friend, Stevie, got stuck

in an old bottle!

It's unhealthy, I tells ya!

And it makes me mad!

[roaring]

Well, instead of roaring so loudly, Ethel,

maybe there's something you can do to stop the littering.

Me?! I can't do that!

I'm just a little chipmunk.

But Ethel, sometimes someone who is really small

can help make big changes!

Perhaps you need to hear a little story.

It's the story of a little kitten

and his little friends who helped make a big difference.

Oh, I love that story!

I would like to hear it too, please.

Very well, then...

Once upon a time, many years ago,

when I was known as Nature Kitten...

[Nature Cat]: I was playing with my friends in the park.

Woo-hoo! Yay!

[all laughing] Woo-hoo!

Leaves! They're everywhere!

I know! Isn't it wonderful?

No! It's not wonderful!

Leaves are messy! And really annoying!

In fact, I wish these leaves would just leave already!

[horn honking]

Did someone say they want to get rid of leaves?

Yes! Ronald did!

and leaves on the ground, and peace and quiet.

The machines are very noisy as you know,

and they are keeping some nocturnal animals

from being able to sleep during the day.

And they also let off a lot of yucky smoke,
