Dear Daisy, whatever is the matter?

Wait. Is it because I was winning?

And by winning, you do mean losing, Nature Cat.

- Right? - Shh! Look!

It's a bunch of baby bunnies in a nest

tucked into some shrubs.

And... they're all alone!

Oh my goodness, so cute!

Oh, I'm gonna snuggle 'em right now!

Hal! Those are wild baby bunnies!

They are not pets like moi.

You cannot just approach a wild animal,

no matter how cute it is.

And now I know you definitely cannot snuggle a wild animal

either neither, neither, either.

Daisy, I know we can't just go and befriend

every super adorable wild animal we meet,

but we can't just leave. Look at them!

[Squeeks]: Oh, you're right, Natche!

They're just too snuggable for us to abandon and ignore.

You're right. But they're not pets like my family.

They are fellow bunnies, so I feel responsible.

Plus I found them. And they are cute!

Why are they alone!? Where's their momma?!

Where's their poppa?! Are they going to be okay?!

Why is the momma not with her babies?!

Daisy, look at me. And breathe, okay?

In through the nose... [inhaling]

Hold for three and exhale through the mouth. Very nice.

[sighs] Thanks, Hal. I needed that.

And we need a plan to babysit these bunnies,

without actually, you know, babysitting these bunnies.

Hmm, I know a lot about nature,

but not a lot about wild animal care.

Man-oh-man, this is such a problem.

You know, whenever I have a problem that seems too hairy

for me to solve on my own, I consult my momma.

Momma Chewinsky, that is!

That's it! Hal, you're a genius!

[Hal]: Thanks, Daisy!

Daisy? A word?

You know that's a dog toy in a wig, right?

No, not Momma Chewinsky.

The bunnies' momma!

We need to find her and make sure she's okay.

And ask her why these bunnies are all alone!

[clears throat]

Will the mother of these super cute and super alone

baby bunnies please return to the nest

and snuggle with them or whatever it is you do.

And remember, we shouldn't yell around wild animals.

[sighs] How are we going to find her?

Oh I know! We can leave a trail of cheese and, uh,

and pre-shelled and roasted salted nuts around their burrow.

That always attracts me.

Mmmm. Yum. So good.

Even if you didn't eat all the snacks,

I don't think that would've worked.

Bunnies don't eat nuts and cheese,

and besides, you shouldn't feed most kinds of wild animals.

Nature Cat's right.

We're just going to have to find their mother ourselves.

[gasps] Did someone say...

find-a-mommy adventure?!

I guess I did.

Those little baby bunnies seem so helpless.

How can they be on their own?

We'll have to search.

- I'm in! - Me too!

To the wildlands to find the bunnies' mommy!

[Nature Cat]: Ah, climbing up this mountain for a better view

did not help! I see no mother bunnies anywhere.

[Hal]: Momma Bunny!

[voice echoing]

Wow. She has to be out here somewhere.

Whenever Granny Bunny disappears,

I usually find her hang gliding or mountain climbing.

And that is why I love Granny Bunny so much!

She's extreme.

Whoa, look over there!

[Hal]: This is it! I'm so excited!

We're going to meet...

[all]: A wolf spider?!

[clears throat]

Correction, a momma wolf spider.

Look back there. I think those are spider eggs?

It says here that wolf spiders

can lay as many as eggs or more.

[Squeeks]: Yeah... seems about right. Yeah.

And according to this, when the eggs hatch,

the momma carries her spiderlings on her back

for several days!

What if that is what the bunnies' mother

is supposed to do?

And just spider-wise, when those several days are up,

the hundreds go where? Huh?

They head off on their own.

On their own!? All alone?

Hold on, at barely a week old,

the tiny little spiderlings head off into the big world

on their own?!

Huh, I didn't know some kinds of creatures

can make it on their own so young.

Huh, so maybe it's the same for the baby bunnies?

Like, they leave their nest now, on their own?

Except they're not... terrifying!

It could be. But I'm still worried.

The view from up here is not helping.

Let's go somewhere where we know rabbits spend time,

like a meadow. Let's go!

[together]: Agreed!

Tally-ho!

Grass as far as the eye can see.

Ooh, look! Everyone's favorite! Bison!

[Squeeks]: Oh! When I was little,

I wanted one for a pet. Then I realized

that they were like , times my size. Hmm. So cute.

Oh, so snuggable. Isn't it the cutest?

Hey, no snugs, Hal! Looks like that's a mother bison

and her calf. I wouldn't try to get in the middle of that.

Where are all of the other calves?

Hmm, it says here that bison usually give birth

to one calf a year.

[Nature Cat]: Wow. Imagine being an only child?

[Daisy]: A baby bison calf is born away from the herd.

And the mother focuses on protecting it,

until it's old enough to be on its own.

A calf stays with its momma for one year.

Interesting, interesting...

So, do we think the baby bunnies are more

like the wolf spiderlings or the bison calf?

Well, we're not going to find out

by watching the bison.

Let's find that Momma Bunny!

What else can we do?

Oh, hey! You know what?

I know something that always attracts bunnies.

It's sure to lure their mom!

What's that?

A bunny hop!

Oh, is that what this is?

I don't see any bunnies.

But I think this is super fun!

Okay, okay, I'm going to have to call a halt to dance time.

We haven't attracted a single bunny mother

and we really need to get those babies taken care of!

We shall not-ith give up-ith!

We shall find mommy bunny!

We've been searching for most of the day

and we haven't found her.

I'm really worried.

[sighs] There's got to be another way

to find a missing momma bunny.

I got it! Bunnies like carrots, right?

Well, most animals like carrots, Hal.

They contain a lot of natural sugars.

They're nature's candy, you see.

Well, then...

Tah-dee!

Time to lure the momma bunny to us,

and then we can take her back to her babies!

Cool costume. You just had that?

I know, right? I got it on sale.

It was at Ricky's... it was one of those Halloween stores

that's only there... Anyway... Alright, Momma Bunny!

Oh, stop it! Stop that!

Well, we didn't achieve what we were going for,

but man, it was funny.

Bad plan, but hilarious bit.

We need to do some more thinking.

We've looked high and low.

Maybe the forest is the place?

You know, I just remembered something from Episode A,

rabbits like edge habitats!

We should look around where the forest meets the meadow.

[gasps] Look!

[all]: A family of foxes!

Did you all know that both the mama and the papa fox,

and older siblings help raise the fox kits?

[Daisy]: Granny Bunny told me all about foxes.

[Squeeks]: Huh. So, fox kits have lots of adults around

to help raise them?

Yep!

So maybe along with momma bunny,

we should also be looking for a papa bunny,

or another momma bunny, or baby bunnies,

or cousins or adopted baby bunnies and other things?

Sounds like it!

Wow. Baby foxes truly have an entourage

to take care of them. Right?

Where's Ian, Turtle, and Kevin Dillon?

Oh, look! They're done playing, I guess.

Aw, I'm going to miss staring at them from a distance.

[sighs] Me too.

[Daisy sighs]

What's wrong, Daisy?

I'm just really worried about those baby bunnies

and we've looked everywhere and tried everything

to find their parents. And we didn't.

Well, you did your best, Daisy! That's always enough.

Yeah, and today we saw different animals

raise their young in different ways!

Gosh, we really learned a lot on this episode.

This might be the Emmy episode.

And we learned that some kinds of really young animals

can be on their own at a really young age!

'Cause they're mature.

Maybe the momma bunny doesn't parent

like any of the animals we saw today.

Maybe those bunnies are okay!

We still don't know.

But we did learn a lot and we had fun,

and Hal was a good carrot.

I sure was!

And now we can go back with our heads held high,

knowing we tried our best and did the best we could.

You're right. I think I'm just going to call Granny Bunny

and tell her to meet us at the meadow.

She'll know what to do.

To the meadow!

[all]: To the meadow!

[Granny Bunny]: Ah, my poor little Daisy.

I'm so sorry you were worried.

Oh, Granny Bunny! We searched everywhere!

I feel like I let the baby bunnies down.

You didn't. Look.

[Hal]: Aww!

Hal, some things are best experienced in silence. Please.

She came back? Where was she?

She probably went out to eat or find fluff for the nest.

So the baby bunnies were okay all along?

See how she hid the nest in the shrubs?

That's to help keep her babies safe

when she leaves to find food.

And believe it or not, those babies will be able

to live on their own in just a few weeks!

Aww, like those little spiderlings!

Huh. Now the wolf spider had a lot of babies,

and the bison had just one.

So, I wonder if that's one reason why the mama bison

spends so much time with her calf.

Exactly!

The different ways wild animals raise their young

sure wasn't what I expected.

I guess we can't just assume

when we see a baby wild animal that it is helpless.

Now, who wants to play catch?

[all cheering]

[Hal]: King of the Backyard Bouncy Castles!

[Daisy]: Ooh, what is that, Nature Cat?

Oh! Is it a giant squeak toy?!

It's gotta be a giant squeak toy!

Please say it's a giant squeak toy, baby!

Hurry, Nature Cat! Please!

[Hal]: Whoa! It's a bouncy castle!

I have always wanted to bounce on one!

[Nature Cat]: Ah, probably just from the deer

that walk back and forth on the edge of my yard

all the time.

But if you put the castle here,

won't it get in the way of the deer's walking path?

It won't matter, deer are resourceful,

they'll find a new way to get wherever they're going!

Come on! Let's bounce!

- Wee! - Yeah!

[cheering]

[Squeeks]: Woo-hoo!

[Nature Cat]: Bouncealicious!

Oh, I could do this all day!

Me too!

Let's bounce the day away!

[Nature Cat]: Ahh... I love the smell

of bouncing in the morning!

[grunts]

Oh no! Look!

[gasps] Daisy, what happened

to your beautiful flowers?

Uh-oh. Do you think they had a bouncy castle mishap?

I think it was the deer.

Why on Earth would you think it was the deer?

Because of the deer tracks!

[Daisy]: I think the bouncy castles

were in the deer's way, so they found another path

and walked through my garden!

Maybe we should move the bouncy castles.

No! I have a bouncier idea!

There! Now the deer can't walk through your garden!

So come on, let's have a ball and bounce!

But, Nature Cat,

now the deer will have no way through the yard at all.

They'll just find a new path to walk!

Now come on! It's bouncin' time!

Tape! Someone get tape! Quick!

Hal, that's not that kind of tape that can help

with bouncy castles!

Now who's ready to get their bouncy castle on?

But what about the deer?

Well, they obviously wanted to get through here.

In fact, I think the back edge of your yard

may be part of a wildlife corridor.

A wildlife what now?

A wildlife corridor!

It's a path animals use over and over again

as they travel to get water and food.

I think you have a wildlife corridor

that goes right through the back of your yard!

Don't be silly,

if my yard had a wildlife corridor,

don't ya think I'd know all about it?

Here come some more deer,

let's watch and see where they're going.

[Squeeks]: See if they're up to no good.

[Daisy]: You see? Those deer want to walk through,

but the bouncy castles are blocking their way.

[Squeeks]: They're looking for a way around,

but the garden fence is blocking them.

There! The deer found a new path!

And we can bounce the day away!

Come on, my bouncing buddies,

Sorry, Nature Cat,

I just don't feel right bouncing on castles

that are getting in the way of the deer.

[Nature Cat]: Oh come on, Daisy, the deer are fine.

I finally see that it's at the expense of the deer.

I can no longer bounce. Not today.

How can I bounce when all I can think about

are those poor deer who have no wildlife corridor

to move to and fro and fro and to through?

Gosh, what am I even saying anymore?

These writers are insane this season.

This is my backyard.

I have the right to do whatever I want with it!

Ah, that owl hoot startled me.

I was asking who was here first. You or the deer.

Well, I was, of course.

Generations of deer and other animals

have been walking along this corridor

long before there were houses here.

[Owl]: Way back before there was even a house,

the deer and other animals would cross right here.

[Nature Cat]: No!

[Owl]: Yes!

Then when the houses went up, the deer still crossed here.

[Nature Cat]: Really?

[Owl]: Absolutely!

And even up until the other day,

before you put those bouncy contraptions in,

the deer would cross right here.

What's so important to them? Why do they need to cross here?

Why don't you follow the path and see for yourself?

Okay! I will! Tally-ho!

Now, I just need to follow these deer tracks!

Hmm... It appears that the deer pass through the back

edge of my yard to get to the woods.

Maybe to find food or shelter?

Oh! Now the tracks go this way! Tally-ho!

Ah! Maybe they drink here!

[Owl]: Hoo! - Ahh!

The deer, obviously, that's who!

Of course they drink here.

Don't you think the deer have a right to drink water?

Yes. But the deer can just find a new path

to the food and water.

Sure, but the path they had was a safe route.

Finding a new path won't be as safe to travel.

And that means it's harder for animals to get

what they need to survive.

Are you picking up what I'm putting down.

I never thought about that.

And the new path could be quite dangerous.

[gasps] You don't think the new path

is dangerous, do you?

Only one way to find out.

We gotta follow that new path!

This path goes past my house and leads right to...

[horn blaring] Ahh!

The new path is dangerous!

I can't let the deer go this way!

I was so concerned about doing what I want,

I didn't even think about what the deer might want or need!

Somebody's gotta fix this!

And I think I know who it is.

The deer do use a path at the back edge

of all these yards. Other animals, too!

they've been using this path for years.

It takes them safely to the places where they find

what they need to survive.

Well, just because it's my backyard,

doesn't mean other animals in nature

don't have the right to use it!

So, I'm going to get rid of all the castles!

Goodbye, bouncy fun!

Maybe you don't have to get rid of them, Nature Cat.

What do you mean?

They're blocking the deer's wildlife corridor!

There might be a way for you to have your bouncy castles

without blocking the wildlife corridor. Ya know?

You just gotta plan carefully where you put 'em.

You gotta think about where the deer are gonna pass through.

Oh, it's no use,

I just can't get my bouncing straight.

Looks like my bouncing days are over.

Wait! My brain is coming up with an idea!

I can feel it working its way out!

And there it is!

Tah-dee! Now the castles are set up so you can bounce,

and there is a clear path so the deer

can have their wildlife corridor!

Whoa! This is great, Hal!

[Squeeks]: It works!

Now I just have to let the deer know

that their wildlife corridor is open again!

I don't think you need to let them know.

Of course I do!

They have a right to get food and water safely

just like anyone else!

[Daisy]: Look!

[Nature Cat]: Haha! It's working!

I'm bouncing and the deer are able to cross through

to get what they need!
