woman: ♪ Like to help out when there's trouble? ♪

- ♪ Oh, you bet, I'm Benny Bubbles! ♪

man: ♪ Teleport in no time flat? ♪

- ♪ Sara Snap can, just like that! ♪

woman: ♪ Use super tools to save the day? ♪

- ♪ Like AJ Gadgets, I'm on my way! ♪

both: ♪ How do they save the day? ♪

all: ♪ Well, the scientific fact is ♪

♪ They use all kinds of powers ♪

♪ They just need a little more ♪

man: Practice!

both: ♪ If you're a future hero ♪

♪ Come and you will see ♪

♪ You belong at Hero Elementary ♪

♪ We all belong at Hero Elementary ♪

Mr. Sparks: At Hero Elementary, our students

are learning how to be heroes

and, sometimes, how to draw heroes.

- Oops. Let me try again.

[hits can]

Oops. Let me try again.

Mr. Sparks: Sara, wait.

Uh, instead of throwing away your paper,

you could just draw on the other side.

- Nah, that's okay.

I got plenty of paper I can use right here in my pad.

[hits can]

- But do you know where paper comes from?

- Ooh, ooh, I know. I know.

Paper comes from the store.

- I mean where does paper come from

before it gets to the store?

all: Uh, I don't know.

- Paper comes from trees. all: Trees?

- I didn't know paper comes from trees.

- Sí.

- Well, then if I use up all my paper,

I'll just get more from the trees, no prob.

- It is a bit of a problem.

Hmm.

Oh! I know a special hero expert

who can explain it to you.

- A hero?

- I'll call him with the hero signal.

Let's see. Hail Caesar.

Athletica.

Aha! This one.

[whooshing, electricity crackles]

[heroic music]

♪ ♪

- That's the hero signal for...

Branchman,

defender of the forest.

Benny: Wow!

AJ: I can't believe it. [Sara laughs]

- It's really him.

- [chirping]

all: Whoa!

- I'm Branchman.

- Welcome. Thank you for coming.

This is my class, Sparks' Crew.

- [chirping] - That's Branch Bird.

- [squeaking] - [chirping]

- Branchman, I have so many questions

about what it's like to be defender of the forest.

- So do I. Uh, like...

what is a defender anyway?

- A defender is someone who protects something

and keeps it safe.

I protect the forest. I'm Branchman.

- But why do forests

need protecting?

They're just trees.

- There's no such thing as "just trees"

for trees are mighty and amazing

and mighty amazing.

- I think my students could learn a lot from you.

- I would love to show them my love of trees.

May I?

- Sí, sí, sí, por favor.

I think it would be a great hero lesson.

- Oh, boy.

- Then come with me to the forest.

all: To the forest!

[excited chatter]

♪ ♪

Mr. Sparks: My students were branching out

into new territory.

- [breathes deeply]

- It's so beautiful here.

- Isn't it?

I love the forest,

and I understand every tree.

Oh, this tree has been here longer than City Town has.

Oh, and this one was planted

before your teacher was even born.

- Wow! These trees are that old?

- [laughs]

Yes, it takes many years for trees

to grow so tall and mighty.

- Huh. They're so big and strong.

So why do trees need your protection?

- Because trees are so incredibly important.

- They are?

- Oh, yes. Trees give us so much.

For example, they are home to many animals.

- Look, there is a squirrel living inside that tree.

- [chittering]

- And this tree has a family of birds living in it.

- And trees don't just give animals homes.

Trees give them food too.

[wind whistling]

- Look, the squirrel gets acorns from this tree.

Oh, guess it's going to save that one to eat later.

- And did you know that lots of the food

that you eat grows on trees?

Apples, pears, bananas, cherries.

- So which of these trees grows paper?

- [laughs] Paper does not grow on a tree.

- But, back at school,

Mr. Sparks said that paper comes from trees.

- It does.

Paper is yet another thing that the mighty tree gives us.

Look, my Twigcam can show you.

It all starts when someone cuts down a tree.

- Cuts it down?

Branchman: Yes.

The wood from trees can be made

into many wonderful things... [saw buzzing]

Like tables or chairs

or whole houses.

- Wow. - Ooh.

Branchman: And some trees are made into paper.

But when people waste paper, then more and more trees

must be cut down to make more and more paper.

- I didn't know trees have to be cut down to make paper.

- But we need the trees to be homes

for all the little cutie-wootie animals

and to make food and stuff.

- But the more paper we use,

the more trees need to be cut down.

- And it takes so long for new trees to grow.

- That is why we must use paper wisely

and why I must protect the forest.

- Can we help?

- Yeah, we want to do something to help the trees.

- What do we do?

- Well, like my little squirrel friends,

we can plant some acorns.

- For us?

To eat later? Ew.

- [laughs] No.

But acorns and other seeds can grow

into mighty trees one day.

- [tweeting] - What's that, Branch Bird?

Someone is wasting paper in City Town?

We must go!

- We'll help. - Yes!

After all, who's the crew who knows what to do?

all: Sparks' Crew to the rescue!

[dramatic music]

♪ ♪

- [chirping]

♪ ♪

- What we have here is a chance

to spread the word about not wasting paper.

- Hmm. Who's wasting paper?

All I see is somebody cleaning windows with paper towels.

- And what are paper towels made of?

- Hmm.

[gasps] Paper.

Ah, I should have known. It's right there in the name.

- So how can we get him to use less paper?

- I bet we can figure it out if we use our...

all: Superpowers of Science!

- Let's start by trying to understand

what the problem is.

- Well, there are lots of windows to wash,

but that will take up a lot of paper towels.

- Which come from trees.

- We need a plan to solve this problem.

Hmm. all: Hmm.

- Wait.

At my home, we use cloth rags

to clean up spills.

Then we just wash the rags and use them again.

- So let's use rags to clean these windows.

- An excellent plan. - [chirping]

- I'll get some rags from home.

Be back in a snap.

Got 'em.

- Perfect. - Fear not, sir.

We are here to help you clean all those windows using these--

- Rags. [giggles]

Then you won't have to use paper towels.

You'll save paper and save trees.

- What a great idea! Thank you so much.

- Come on, team. Let's get cleaning.

♪ ♪

[rag squeaking]

- [tweeting]

- What's that, Branch Bird? - [tweeting]

- Someone else is wasting paper?

We must go.

- Us too. Come on!

- Haircut sale. [chuckling]

% off your hair and the price.

[bubble bouncing]

- Hmm? Oh, no!

This is yet another chance to help the trees.

- Right. Let's keep using our Superpowers of Science

and try to understand the problem.

- Okay, that guy wants lots of people to know

about a sale on haircuts.

Benny: And he's using lots of paper

that tells people about the sale.

- Hmm.

What if he had one big sign

that could tell everyone at the same time?

- Sounds like you have a plan in mind.

- Yep.

AJ, do you have your Grow Ray in your backpack?

- Always.

- [laughs] What a clever solution.

- Here you go.

From now on, you won't have to use any more paper,

and that will save some trees.

- [laughing]

- A sale on haircuts?

Well, I could use a new style. [laughs]

- Oh!

- Yeah, another problem solved.

- Not completely. Look.

Sara: Oh, no!

- There's wasted paper everywhere.

- What a mess!

- The sign means no more paper will be wasted,

but we're still too late.

All this paper is already wasted.

- I wish we got here sooner.

We could have saved some more trees.

- You still can.

There's another way to save trees.

I'll show you.

When people are done using paper,

they don't have to throw it away.

They can recycle the paper.

That's when old paper is made into new paper.

Mm-hmm.

- So, if people recycle paper,

they won't have to cut down so many trees?

- Exactly.

- Then I have a plan.

We can pick up all this paper

and put it in the recycling bin.

- [chuckles] Let's do it.

- [chirping]

[exciting music]

♪ ♪

- Oh, look, we have helpers.

[indistinct chatter]

- This is wonderful!

You helped them see

that everyone has to do their part to save trees.

- And there's one more thing we can do to help.

Plant some new trees.

These acorns will take lots of years to grow big,

but if everybody planted a tree,

think how many we'd have.

- I am so proud.

You are all true Friends of the Forest.

Mr. Sparks: And so my students

got to the root of the problem,

went out on a limb,

and did their part to save some trees.

all: ♪ We all belong at Hero Elementary ♪

Mr. Sparks: It was the most super class trip

of the year, a visit

to the top of Mega Mountain to see a real hero hideaway.

There was no hiding the excitement.

- Look at all those gadgets.

- Oh, this is gonna to be so fun.

Benny: Yeah! AJ: Whoa!

Lucita: Wow! Benny: Oh, wow. Look at this!

[wondrous music]

- I can't believe we're in the actual

Jetman Jones Jet Cave!

[whooshing]

- What do you say, kids? - [gasps]

Jetman Jones?

- Welcome to the Jet Cave,

where I spend most of my heroic time,

unless of course I'm out, jetting off to adventure!

- This is so cool.

- What say you take a look around?

- Yes! - Awesome!

Lucita: Whoo-hoo! - Cool.

- Wow, that's your Jetman Jetpack.

I bet it's even faster than my jet pack.

- [chuckles]

- And, look, it's the Jetman Jetboat.

- Yeah, for when you jet off to adventure at sea.

- And that's the Jetman Jet--

uh, what is this?

- The Jetman Jet Vacuum.

It can clean my cave at jet speed.

[vacuum whirring]

- Jetman Jones, your Jet Cave is the best hero hideaway ever!

- Eso sí! Thank you for inviting us.

- Well, it's nice to have company for a change.

I'm used to flying solo,

but it can be a little lonely at the top

of a mountain.

- [squeaking]

- Hey, what if you got a sidekick

like Fur Blur to keep you company?

- Yeah! Super Sidekicks are great.

- And they're a big help when you need to save the day.

Right, Furry Blurry? - [squeaks]

- A sidekick, eh?

- My friend, Branchman's got a sidekick.

Branch Bird helps him out on every adventure.

- Lots of heroes do have sidekicks.

- [gasps] I can picture it now,

me jetting off to adventure

with a heroic winged sidekick on my shoulder.

- I can totally see that.

- Tell me, where do I get a sidekick?

- Oh, from the Super Shelter. They have many super animals.

- I bet they'd have the perfect sidekick for you.

- Okay, kids. You sold me.

- Oh, yeah.

- Let's go! - Can't wait!

- Now, where's my Jet Phone?

[whistles]

Hello? [indistinct phone chatter]

Super shelter? Jetman Jones here.

Would you send me a heroic sidekick?

[indistinct phone chatter] Uh-huh.

I-I need an animal with wings.

A flyer like me, see?

[indistinct phone chatter] Ah, yes. Great.

And it would be swell if you could make it fast.

[horn honking] - Wow, that was fast.

- Hmm?

Say, my new sidekick must be in there.

- [giggles] What kind of super animal is it?

- Why, it might be a falcon.

No, no. An eagle.

Or maybe a--

- [clucking]

- A chicken?

- Oh, she's got a cape.

She must be a super chicken.

- I wasn't expecting a chicken.

- But look how cute she is with her cute little feathers

and her cute little feet

with their three cute little toes.

Mr. Sparks: She even makes cute little footprints.

- But does a chicken make good sidekick?

- Give it a chance and see.

- All right. Come, chicken.

Perch on my shoulder.

Oh.

- Well, it was close. [chuckles]

- I can't bravely jet off

to adventure with a chicken on my head.

Friends, can we talk over there?

Listen, I'm not sure this chicken's gonna work out.

I was hoping for a heroic sidekick

that could help me save the day.

This one doesn't seem to have any special powers at all.

[clucking worriedly]

[clucks]

- But if it really is a super chicken,

it must have some superpowers.

- Maybe we can figure out what they are.

- I suppose it's worth a try.

All right, chicken.

Let's see what you've got.

Chicken?

- Um, where did it go?

- Look, chicken feathers.

- Oh, no. I think the chicken got out.

- She could get lost out there. We have to get her back.

- Well, who's the crew who knows what to do?

all: Sparks' Crew to the rescue!

- And Jetman Jones too.

- We'll stay here in case the chicken comes back.

- There's no more feathers to follow.

- And that chicken is nowhere to be seen.

- There's got to be a way to find her.

- I know! What if we use our...

all: Superpowers of Science!

- Let's start by looking for evidence.

You know, clues. Chicken-y clues.

- Chicken-y clues? - Yeah.

Maybe there are some other clues

that the chicken left behind besides feathers.

- Yeah, chicken-y clues

might help us figure out where she went.

- But how do we find clues

when this mountaintop is covered in snow?

all: Hmm.

- Look.

Footprints in the snow.

- Yeah, but footprints we made.

- Not all of them.

Those footprints look really different.

- I've seen those before. Thought projecting.

The chicken's footprints in the cave had one,

two, three toes on the feet.

Compare them to these footprints in the snow.

Lucita: One, two, three toes.

Benny: It's a chicken-y clue!

And, if we follow these footprints,

maybe they'll lead to the chicken.

- Say, I think you're onto something.

- Let's go, team!

- Oh, no. The snow ends here and so do the footprints.

- We'll never find that chicken.

Never, I tell you.

- Wait, we can keep using our Superpowers of Science.

The tracks are all heading in that direction,

so I predict that the chicken is still going that way,

right toward... [gasps]

Downtown City Town.

- Let's get a move on.

- Poor helpless chicken all alone in the big city.

I hope she's not too scared.

- [clucking]

[vacuum whirring]

[clucking worriedly]

- Ah. Now, where could that chicken be?

- Let's keep looking for chicken-y clues

- Hey, look.

Feathers. They're just like the ones

the chicken left in the Jet Cave.

- Let's compare to make sure these feathers

are from our chicken.

- They're the same brown color.

- And they're the same size and shape.

[gasps] These must be the chicken's feathers.

- It's a great chicken-y clue.

- It's evidence that the chicken went that way

and crossed the road.

- But why did the chicken cross the road?

- To get to the other side.

[both laugh]

Mr. Sparks: While the team was looking for clues,

they had no clue what they were missing.

- Oh, no. Jackhammer's not working.

- [clucks]

[clucking rapidly]

- That heroic chicken saved the day

and finished our work. [chuckles]

- [gasps] A heroic chicken?

- Which way did the chicken go?

Thanks. That's great information.

Let's go!

♪ ♪

- Which way do you think it went now?

- Let's keep looking for chicken-y clues.

[cluck in the distance]

- Say, I think I heard a clue.

It sounded like a... [clucks]

- A bawk? - You know...

[clucking] The sound a chicken makes.

[clucking in the distance]

- I hear it too. It's another chicken-y clue.

- The sound's coming from--

all: Sidekick Park.

- The perfect place for a sidekick to be.

- [gasps] Look!

There's the chicken.

Jetman: And my Jet Vacuum.

How did that get here? Lucita: I don't know,

but it looks like the chicken's trying to get it back.

Benny: Oh, look how fast she can run!

She really does have superpowers.

- She's fast, all right, but my Jet Vacuum is faster.

- That chicken could use some heroic help.

- We're coming, chicken!

[exciting music]

♪ ♪

- Oh! - Oh, no.

[Lucita yelping]

♪ ♪

- Bubble up!

- I got you!

Huh? - [clucking]

- [clucking]

- Oh, no.

- Hop on, pal! - [clucking]

- Close enough.

Now, let's jet off to adventure!

- [clucks]

Jetman: Just out of...reach.

- [clucks]

- Go, chicken, go!

[vacuum powers down]

- You did it. You're a hero.

A hero, I tell you!

- [clucks]

- She had great superpowers all along.

- I was wrong about you. You make a fine sidekick.

I'd be happy to have you by my side, chicken.

- [clucks]

- Maybe it's time to give her name.

- Hmm. Try this on for size:

Jetman Jones and his fearless sidekick,

[clucks] Rogers.

- [clucking]

- I think she likes it. - Oh, she's so cute.

Mr. Sparks: So if you want to be a hero,

don't let anything

go to your head... [chuckles]

unless it's a chicken-y sidekick.

- [clucks]

all: ♪ We all belong at Hero Elementary ♪

male announcer: Time to learn how to hero!

Hey, you!

Yes, that means you.

Let's go hero,

using your superpowers of science.

Today's superpower is...

the power of finding patterns.

[upbeat swing music]

singers: ♪ When you find the pattern ♪

♪ When you find the pattern ♪

♪ When you find the pattern, you save the day ♪

♪ When you notice something happened ♪

♪ That happened before ♪

♪ And you notice that the same thing ♪
