man: ♪ Teleport in no time flat? ♪

- ♪ Sara Snap can, just like that! ♪

woman: ♪ Use super tools to save the day? ♪

- ♪ Like AJ Gadgets, I'm on my way! ♪

both: ♪ How do they save the day? ♪

all: ♪ Well, the scientific fact is ♪

♪ They use all kinds of powers ♪

♪ They just need a little more ♪

man: Practice!

both: ♪ If you're a future hero ♪

♪ Come and you will see ♪

Mr. Sparks: My students work hard at hero training.

[school bell rings]

- Recess! Oof--

Mr. Sparks: Which is why, sometimes,

they get to play hard too.

- Yay! - Yeah!

- Have fun!

- I can't wait!

Mr. Sparks is gonna be so surprised!

- Mr. Sparks?

- Oh! - Surprised about what?

- It's very exciting.

Today, Mr. Sparks is getting a big award--

Hero Teacher of the Year!

AJ: Really? Lucita: Amazing!

- Hero Teacher of the Year?

- Well, Mr. Sparks deserves it.

- Yeah, he's a great teacher.

- [squeaking]

- He sure is! - He's the best!

- And to celebrate,

there's gonna be a party for him in the school library

this afternoon!

- Ooh hoo hoo! He'll love that.

- But we want it to be a surprise for Mr. Sparks,

[softly] so don't tell him.

- Oh, oh, can we help get things ready for the party?

- Oh, yeah!

Lucita: We want to help! Sara: Oh, yeah, please!

- Maybe we can make a cake for Mr. Sparks.

- Ooh, yes!

- Wonderful. And the library needs some party decorations.

- [squeaking]

- Oh, we'll decorate!

- [squeak]

- What should I do?

- You can make sure

Mr. Sparks doesn't find out about the surprise.

- You got it.

I'll keep him busy for the whole recess.

- We'll make this the best party ever!

- Ho ho, yeah, we will,

'cause who's the crew who knows what to do?

[exciting chords]

- Sparks Crew to the rescue!

- Let's get to the kitchen!

- I know where we can get some party decorations.

Come on, Fur Blur! - And I'll go find Mr. Sparks

and keep him--yaah!

- Sara, are you looking for me?

- Um, I, uh...

- Can I help you with something?

- Yes! I need your...help

learning...hero stuff.

Of course! I'm always happy

to give a student some extra help.

I'll just grab my yogurt from the fridge and--

- No, no, no! I mean...

Uh...I need help learning hero stuff right now!

I just can't wait!

Let's go to our classroom. Come on!

Mr. Sparks: Okay!

I love how excited you are to learn!

[water running]

- So, what kind of cake should we make for Mr. Sparks?

- Well, there's a chocolate chip cake

I've made with my abuelita.

It's so delicious!

And I think I remember how to make it!

- Sounds good to me. - Great!

You can find your ingredients here--

you know, the things that you mix together

to make your cake.

You can put them in this big bowl.

Just let me know when you're ready

for me to turn on the mixer.

- Okay. Thanks, Mrs. Mangia.

- So, what ingredients does your abuelita

put into this cake?

- Well...

[upbeat music]

Chocolate chips,

flour, baking powder,

and brown sugar.

And that's everything.

Mrs. Mangia, it's ready for the mixer now.

- All righty!

Ooh, it looks very dry.

Are you sure you put in all the ingredients?

- Uh-huh. That's what my abuelita puts in the cake.

- Okay!

♪ ♪

Let's give it a spin!

[machine whirring]

[comical off-key notes]

[AJ coughs]

- Ha ha! Oh, yeah!

Ooh, that looks great.

Oh, I'm really good at this!

Oh, this here, oh, that's there!

I'm really getting into this party stuff. Ha!

How 'bout you, Fur Blur?

Huh? Fur Blur?

♪ ♪

Huh? You're really into the party stuff too!

Ha ha ha! You little party animal!

- [squeaking]

- Okay, Mr. Sparks,

I need help learning all kinds of hero stuff.

Like, uh, who was Citytown's first hero?

Can babies have superpowers?

What about baby fish?

Has there ever been a fish hero?

- Excellent questions. What do you think?

- I don't know. - Well, how can you find out?

- I guess I could look it up in a book or something?

- Ah. Books do have lots of wonderful information.

- Uh-oh. - Why don't we go get a book

from the school library and-- - No, no, no, no!

Uh, I mean...you don't have to walk all the way over there.

I'll just teleport to the library.

Be back in a sec!

Here...we go.

- Ay! That is a lot of books!

- Yep! Let's look through them all,

one by one, you know, for learning.

- Ah...ha. All right.

Anything to help a student learn.

- Sorry about the mess, Mrs. Mangia.

- Kitchens can get messy when you're cooking.

- But why did our cake mixture make such a big mess?

- I think your recipe

might be missing some ingredients, Lucita.

- Like what? - We'll figure it out.

But first, I've gotta take some of this party food

to the library.

I'll be back soon to help with that cake.

- I wish I could remember what ingredients were missing.

- Maybe we can figure it out ourselves, if we use our...

- Superpowers of science! - Superpowers of science!

- Let's start by investigating.

Take a look at what's left in the bowl.

Lucita: Hmm. It is very dry.

- I remember making a cake with my mom.

Thought projecting.

When she mixed up all the ingredients,

the make mixture was smooth and goopy.

Lucita: That's how it looks when abuelita makes it too.

- Maybe we're supposed to put something wet in the mixture

like milk or...

- Water! I forgot the water!

That's what Abuelita uses!

- Some nice, wet water,

coming right up!

♪ ♪

How much do we need?

- Hmm. I'm not sure.

We want to make a big cake,

so maybe a lot of water.

- Right!

[light music]

- Mrs. Mangia, I remembered the missing ingredient.

Water! So we put it in the bowl.

- Ah, good!

Oh...it's very wet.

Are you sure you're supposed to put in this much water?

- Yep. That's how Abuelita makes it.

I think. - Okay...

Let's see what happens.

[light music]

♪ ♪

AJ: Uh-oh. Lucita: Oh, no!

Uh...guess we put in too much water?

- Ugh! Wet clothes! Yuck, yuck, yuck!

♪ ♪

[beep beep] - Yah!

- Sara, are you there? - Uh...yes!

I'm here with Mr. Sparks

who can hear you!

Benny: Right! Oh, yeah, uh...

Uh, Sara, I need your, uh, super strength

for, uh...recess stuff.

- Recess stuff? - Uh...

On my way! I'll be right back, Mr. S,

so we can keep looking at those books!

- Uh...okay.

- Whadda ya need, Benny?

- Can you move this heavy bookcase

so we can make more room for the party?

- No prob!

♪ ♪

- Oh, thanks!

- The decorations look great!

Love the bubble balloons!

- They were Fur Blur's idea.

- [squeak]

- Well, I'd better get back to Mr. Sparks.

Classroom!

Now, where were we?

[gasps] Mr. Sparks? Oh, no.

Where'd he go? Mr. Sparks!

- Right here. I dropped my pencil.

- Whew!

- I don't know where we went wrong.

First, our cake mixture was too dry.

Then it was too wet.

- Let's keep investigating. - Yes!

Let's start over.

First, put in all your dry ingredients.

[light music]

♪ ♪

Notice how you can still see most of the ingredients?

Lucita: Yep. It's not a smooth, goopy mixture yet.

- Then we put in the water.

- Wait! We put in too much before.

What if we put only a little water in at a time?

Then maybe it will get wetter little by little,

till the mixture is just right.

- Let's try it out, AJ.

You put in the water, slowly,

and Lucita, you can mix it...

but this time, with a spoon.

♪ ♪

Mrs. Mangia: Look!

AJ: The ingredients are getting wetter!

♪ ♪

Lucita: It's starting to look really different now.

The dry ingredients are mixing with the wet water.

♪ ♪

AJ: It's looking nice and smooth and goopy.

Should I put in more water?

- No, I think it looks perfect now.

Nice job!

- We did it, AJ!

- Now, let's bake the cake!

- Yeah!

AJ: Ooh!

[bright music]

♪ ♪

- Sara, Benny, we're ready!

- There's just one more book I wanna show you, Mr. Sparks.

It's in the library. - All right, Sara.

But I'm really getting hungry for a snack now.

- You can get something to eat in here.

- In the library? - You'll see.

all: Surprise!

Mr. Sparks: Oh!

What is all this? Benny: Ha ha.

It's a party for you, Mr. Sparks!

- For me? But what for?

- Because you're such a great teacher.

You always put your students first--hee hee--

even when you're hungry.

- [chuckling] Sara: And you ask us questions

that make us think.

You help us become better heroes, Mr. S.

And that's why you're getting this award--

Hero Teacher of the Year!

[cheers and applause] - Mr. Sparks!

- Ha ha ha! - You deserve it.

- Whoo-hoo! - Yeah!

- Muchas gracias. I-I am truly honored.

But, of course,

I couldn't be Hero Teacher of the Year

without such wonderful, heroic students.

Now...[sniffing] what smells so delicious?

- Ta-da! - Ta-da!

- Ooh! - Wow!

Mr. Sparks: Fantástico.

What a surprise!

Mr. Sparks: It was a wonderful celebration.

and having my students in the mix

was the icing on the cake.

- [squeak]

all: ♪ We all belong at Hero Elementary ♪

Mr. Sparks: It's no surprise

I love being a teacher.

But it was a surprise

when the school threw me a surprise party.

- Hero Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations, Mr. Sparks.

- Gracias. And thank you

for the amazing cake, Mrs. Mangia.

- Well, Lucita and AJ are really the ones who made it.

- Really?

- We sure did. - Mm-hmm!

- [sniffing]

Ahh! Well, it smells wonderful.

I can't wait to taste it!

[giggling, chatter]

Come! Let's say hello.

♪ ♪

- [inhales, squeaks]

[sniffing]

[continues sniffing]

[squeaking]

- Oh, you want a strawberry, Fur Blur?

- Ha ha. How did she smell the strawberries

from all the way across the room?

- Hamsters have a great sense of smell--

even better than people.

Here, ya hungry little cutie-patootie!

[light music]

- [squeak]

- [gasps] Fur Blur! You're...

flying!

- But how?

- Surprise!

Oh. Am I late?

- Ooh! - Oh!

- [giggling] - [squeak]

- It's Invisigirl!

- [giggling] Just joking.

There ya go! - [squeak]

- You are one of my favorite heroes!

- Well, it's sure nice to meet a fellow flyer.

- Invisigirl!

So nice to see you again.

Thank you for coming to my party.

- I wouldn't miss it, Mr. Sparks.

- You know Invisigirl?

- Sí. She used to be my student when she was your age.

- Wow!

- Invisigirl, this library has all your comic books!

- Or does it?

- Huh?

- [laughing] Just joking.

[giggling]

- Cool! - Amazing.

- Who wants some strawberries?

- Ho ho! - Count me in!

- So...what's it like to be invisible?

- It can be lots of fun.

Especially when I play jokes...like this.

- Hmm?

- [giggling] - Attention, everyone.

Uh, before we have some cake,

I would just like to say a few words.

There are many people

I would like to thank. - Hmm...

- First, my super students,

who are learning more and more every day about

how to use their superpowers. - Hoo hoo hoo.

This will be the best joke yet.

[giggling] Mr. Sparks: Like Invisigirl,

who is here with us today.

I'd also like to thank Mrs. Mangia

for her heroic cooking...

- [whistling] - And, of course...

- Whoa! Better get this empty cart back to the kitchen.

[whistling]

- Now, who wants some cake?

- Oh! - Sure!

- I know I do!

- Hee hee hee.

- Huh? Where'd the cake go?

- It was right there.

[Invisigirl giggles]

Just joking.

I made the cake invisible.

- Oh. - [exhales]

- Don't worry.

The cake's right here.

Uh...maybe here. [nervous laugh]

Oh, no, where is it, where is it, where is it?

- Invisigirl, where's the cake?

- I thought I put it right here.

But now... I can't find it.

- Oh, no! We worked so hard

to make that cake for Mr. Sparks.

Ohh!

- I didn't mean to lose it.

I was just joking.

- It's not a very funny joke.

- But we'll still help you find the cake.

- How? - Invisigirl,

don't you remember what I always taught you?

- Not to play jokes when I'm invisible

because sometimes jokes can get out of control?

- Besides that. - Remind me.

- That we can figure things out

if we use our...

all: Superpowers of science!

- Exactamente!

- Okay, the cake has to be around here somewhere.

Maybe we can find it if we start by observing.

- But how can we observe something that's invisible?

- Uh...good point.

- Is there another way

you can observe something you can't see?

- Hey!

Maybe we can observe with our noses

instead of our eyes by using our sense of smell.

- Yeah. If we can smell the invisible cake,

then maybe we can find where it is.

- Right! Okay, everyone,

time to put your noses to work!

- And who's the crew who "nose" what to do?

[exciting chords]

- Sparks Crew to the rescue!

- And Invisigirl, too!

[jaunty music]

- [sniffing]

[squeak]

[both sniffing]

- I don't smell the cake anywhere in the library.

- Then it must not be in the library.

- Well, let's check the rest of the school.

- Good idea.

We'll find your cake, Mr. Sparks, don't worry.

[upbeat music]

- [squeak]

♪ ♪

- Strawberries, anyone?

- Let's buddy up and observe in different places.

- All right. Come on, AJ!

- Let's check out some classrooms.

- [whistling]

- [sniffing] Do you smell anything,

Invisigirl? [Invisigirl giggles]

- I'm over here. - Oh! Ha ha.

- [sniff] But I do smell something.

- [inhales] I smell it too.

The smell is stronger over here.

[sniffing] Oh, it's these peaches.

Invisigirl: Huh.

I guess smells get stronger when we get closer.

[sniff] Mmm. Smells tasty.

- Yeah. But that's not the smell we're looking for.

The cake must be somewhere else.

Come on!

- Okay, Fur Blur, let's use our sense of smell

to observe.

- [squeak]

- [sniffing]

Yuck!

[sniffing] Uch!

[sniffing] P-U!

It smells like the Green Leaper needs his t*nk cleaned.

- [ribbit] - Ugh!

I guess not all smells are good smells.

Come on, Fur Blur!

- [sniffing]

- [sniffing]

I smell something.

Ugh! It's the stuff Mr. Whistle uses

to clean the floors.

Yuck!

- [sniffing] Smells lemony fresh to me.

I guess different people like different smells.

Mr. Sparks: With no whiff of the cake,

it was time for Sparks Crew

to give their plan the sniff test.

- This isn't working.

We smelled everything we could smell,

but we didn't smell any cake.

- [sighs] This is all my fault.

My joke got so out of control.

- Yeah, it sure did.

- I'm sorry I made the cake invisible

and ruined the party.

- Well, it's not ruined yet.

We'll find that cake.

- But how? We can't smell it anywhere.

all: Hmm...

- [whistling]

- [squeaks, sniffs]

- Hey, look at Fur Blur!

- [gasps] I think she smells something!

- [gasps] Wait!

Hamsters have a great sense of smell, remember?

Maybe Fur Blur can smell where the cake is.

- [sniffs, squeaks]

- Follow that hamster!

[exciting music]

♪ ♪

- [squeak]

- [whistling]

[exciting music]

- [sniffing]

[squeak]

- The kitchen?

Oh! You think the cake's in the kitchen!

- [squeak, squeak]

Lucita: Come on!

- [sniffing]

- I think I sorta smell the cake,

but there's lots of other smells in here too.

- [sniffing] Like these stinky onions--hoo!

- [sniff sniff] And this flowery smelling soap.

- Where's the cake, Fur Blur?

- [sniffing]

[squeaking]

- There's so many smells, they all mix together.

We can't smell exactly where the cake is.

- So we can't use our sense of smell to find the cake

or our sense of sight to see the cake,

'cause it's invisible.

- [squeaking]

[thud]

- [giggling]

Wait!

Maybe we can use our sense of sight.

Remember what happened with the confetti in the library?

- Thought projecting.

Lucita: When the confetti covered Invisigirl,

we could see her shape.

So maybe we can use these sprinkles like the confetti.

If we sprinkle them around,

maybe we can see the shape of the invisible cake.

- That's a great plan. Let's test it out on me.

Benny: Whoa! I can see your hand!

- The test worked!

- Now let's try using the sprinkles

to find the invisible cake!

[suspenseful music]

♪ ♪

Nope. Not here.

Hmm...

Wait a minute!

Look! [gasps] The cake!

AJ: We found it! Benny: Way to go!

- All right!

- Time to make this invisible cake...

[giggling]

visible again!

[overlapping excited yelling]

- Oh! We did it!

- [squeaks]

- Thanks for helping, Sparks Crew.

Sorry for all the trouble I caused.

- Well, I guess even famous heroes

can make mistakes sometimes too...hee hee.

Now, let's clean up this mess

so we can get the cake back to the party.

- All right! Now who wants cake?

- I do! - Oh, I do!

- Sorry again for losing your cake, Mr. Sparks.

I can see now that my idea of fun

can turn into no fun at all.

- Well, I'm just glad you all could solve the problem.

- Yes! We observed and found the cake

by using our sense of smell

and our sense of sight.

- And now, we can finally use our sense of taste.

- Yeah, let's eat some cake!

- Hero Teacher of the Year gets the first bite.

- I hope you like sprinkles, Mr. Sparks.

- [chomping] Mmm!

[mouth full] Delicioso!

Mr. Sparks: So if something disappears,

try to sniff it out, and who knows?

Finding it might be a piece of cake.

male announcer: Time to learn how to hero!

Hey, you! Yes, that means you.

Let's go hero

using your Superpowers of Science.

the power to try out ideas.

[upbeat music]
