[ Sister ]: sometimes, we don't

Like the same things, it's true.

[ Brother ]: but that's what's

So special about me and you.

How many cubs are coming to your house

To play hide and seek on saturday, sister?

One, two, three...

Oh, a lot.

Wow!

I wonder if there will be enough hiding places for everyone.

Did you just say you invited all your friends over this saturday?

Yes.

But I invited all of my friends over to play this saturday too.

How many?

A lot.uh-oh.

What are we going to do?

Hey, I have an idea.

[ Brother and sister ]: please?

Hmm, that's a lot of cubs.

That's not just having friends over-- that's having a party.

Ohh...

Which is perfectly fine with me.

Yay! We're having a party!

All right!

We have to get balloons.

And think of lots of games to play.

And we need party invitations, to make it official.

[ Mama ]: we'll have to figure out

What to serve everyone for lunch.

Don't worry, mama, we'll think of something.

[ Laughing ]

Let's check the kitchen.

A party!

[ Sister ]: yippee!

[ Laughing ]

Oh, my.

Ah-ha!

[ Mama ]: goodness me.

I can't imagine what sort of concoction

You will be serving your guests with all these ingredients.

I certainly hope you have a name for it.

We sure do, mama.

Peanut butter, mushy banana and crushed honeycomb sandwiches.

Mmm-mmm.

With a pickle. Everyone's going to love them as much as we do.

Oh, you think so?

You betcha.

[ Sister ]: now we have to figure out

What juice goes best with mushy bananas and pickles.

Orange juice or grape?

What if some of your friends don't like orange juice?

Then we'll give them grape.

What if some don't like grape?

We'll give them orange.

And what if they don't like grape or orange?

What if some of them don't like peanut butter, mushy banana

And crushed honeycomb sandwiches--

With a pickle--

As much as you do?

Everyone likes and dislikes

Different things-- even you two.

Now who'd like some puffy rice cereal?

Oh, me, mama! It's my favourite.

None for me, thanks.

I only like honey bits.

Hey, you're right, mama.

It's like when I put

Ketchup on my hot dogs.

And I put mustard on mine.

[ Mama ]: that's right.

And there's nothing wrong with

Liking or disliking different things.

Is all part of what makes each of us special.

I know, let's ask all our friends

What they like and don't like to eat.

That way, we can make something

That everyone likes for our party lunch on saturday.

That's a great idea, cubs.

Tidying up this mess would be another great idea.

Any volunteers?

Yup! We can do that.

[ Laughing ]

[ Queenie ]: wow! Invitations and everything.

I thought you were just having

A few cubs over on saturday, sister.

It's now officially a party.

We're going to have games and balloons

And all sorts of fun stuff.

Oh, I love parties!

This will be the best party ever.

We just need to find out

What everyone would like to eat for lunch.

How about egg salad sandwiches?

Gross!

Besides, party sandwiches are so old-fashioned.

How about spaghetti?

All right.

[ Stacey ]: double gross!

Yech!

You told me last week you liked spaghetti, stacey.

I liked spaghetti last week, queenie.

This week, I like egg salad sandwiches.

Spaghetti-- queenie yes, stacey no.

And stacey yes, queenie no on the egg salad. Got it.

It's great that everyone likes and dislikes different things.

It's all part of what makes each of us special.

Sister and I are trying to figure out

What everyone would like for lunch on saturday.

So, tell me cousin fred, what's your favourite fruit juice?

Actually, I don't like juice, brother, I like milk.

No milk for me, brother.

I'm lactose intolerant.

Bet ya don't know what that means, do you?

Extreme sensitivity or allergy to milk products.

Oh. Yeah, milk gives me a tummy ache.

You mean you can't even have milk with cookies?

Uh-uh, once I tried dunking a chocolate chip cookie

Into a glass of orange juice.

Yuck!

You can say that again.

I haven't eaten a chocolate chip cookie since.

Orange juice is ok, though.

And chocolate gives me a rash.

[ Brother ]: no problem.

Everybody likes and dislikes different things.

It's part of what makes each of us--

[ Freddy ]:eww!

Cheese sandwiches again?

I thought you liked cheese sandwiches.

Not day after day after day.

One more cheese sandwich and I'm going to turn into a mouse.

[ Laughing ]

You know what I really love?

Cheese sandwiches.

Cheese sandwiches. Ok.

Now, what don't you like, lizzy?

Let's see.

I don't like tomatoes or rice or mayonnaise

Or celery or nacho chips or squash or mushrooms

Or tuna fish or peanut butter.

Well... Do you like anything else

Besides cheese sandwiches?

Hmm... Not really.

Oh.

[ Sighing ]

Don't mind if I do,

Freddy. Huh?

[ Chuckling, gasping ]

Oops, sorry.

Putting it back, teacher bob.

Are you guys coming over on saturday, too-tall?

Wouldn't miss it. I hear it's turned into a party.

Yes, and we're trying to figure out what everyone wants to eat.

What about you guys?

We like hot mexican tacos.

Right, boys?

Mmm... Sure, sure do, too-tall.

Uhh, you bet. Uhh, yummy.

Hot tacos, the spicier, the better-- that's what we like.

Ok.

Hot, spicy... Stuff.

Games and balloons and lunch.

It sounds like it'll be a great party, sister.

You said it.

It'll be the best party ever.

We just need to figure out

What kind of lunch everyone wants.

What do you like, millie?

That's easy, sister.

I like everything.

Ah, you don't know how happy I am to hear that, millie.

[ Millie ]: well...

Almost everything.

Huh?

Everything except garlic and grapes

And green onions, eww!

And I don't like guacamole.

Oh, and there's garbanzo beans,

Ech! And--

Can I just say you don't like anything

That starts with the letter "g"?

Ok. Is that a problem?

No.

Everyone likes and dislikes different things.

There's nothing wrong with that.

[ Sighing ]

[ Brother ]: ferdy, I looked all over for you and--

Oh, yuck!

What are you eating?

That's definitely not going on my list.

[ Laughing ] I'm not eating it.

I'm feeding it.

It's my science project.

I'm making mould. Isn't it fascinating?

I was wondering what you... Umm, and your mould,

Would like for lunch at the party on saturday.

Well, my mould here likes bread, especially rye bread.

Rye bread for ferdy's mould. Ok.

And I'm trying to cut down on calories and lower my intake

Of non-hydrogenated fatty acids.

Huh?

Never mind.

How do you spell hydrogenated?

[ Sighing ]

Well, cubs, what's the verdict?

What would all your friends like to eat at the party?

It looks like the only thing

Everyone can agree on is crackers and water.

But lenny only likes unsalted crackers.

Liking and not liking different things

May be part of what makes everyone special,

But it sure does make it hard

To figure out what to feed them at a party.

We're very proud that you've tried so hard

To make all your friends happy.

But it looks like none of them are going to be happy.

[ Papa ]: oh, I don't know about that.

Would you mind if I make a suggestion?

How about pizza?

Pizza!

Everyone loves pizza.

But nobody will be able to agree

On what toppings to put on the pizza.

Don't you worry.

I'm an old pizza-ologist from way back.

Your guests will love papa's pizza. I guarantee it.

Yay! Thanks, papa.

[ Laughing ]

Pizza time!

[ Cheering ]

[ Sister ]: it's pizza!whoa!

Yay, papa's pizza!

[ Ferdy ]: come on, let's chow down.

[ Laughing ]

Hey! Wow!

Awesome!

Wow, this great.

What is this?

I'm lactose intolerant, you know.

[ Laughing ] this is how everyone can have

Exactly what they want for lunch.

You can each make your very own pizza,

Just the way you like it.

All the toppings are here--

Even soy cheese for anyone who's lactose intolerant.

And hot peppers for anyone who likes their pizza spicy.

Dig in, everyone.

Mmm...

Heh-heh...

Mmm.

Mmm, that's yummy. What is it?

It's green pepper.

Oh, I guess I like some things that start with "g" after all.

Hmm, I don't know if I put enough hot peppers on mine.

This tastes great.

So, how's yours, too-tall?

Hot enough for you, too-tall?

[ Too-tall coughing ]

Hot!

[ Gulping]

Anyone for seconds?

[ Millie ]: oh, me.[ Cheering ]

[ Queenie ]: I want seconds!

[ Lizzy ]: me too.

Let me guess.

These peanut butter and mushy banana pizzas belong to you two.

Sure do.thanks.

It's good that we like

And dislike different things,

Because it's part of what makes each of us special.

And it's ok to like the same things too.

Mm-mmm...

[ Brother ]: if what you

Wish for is to succeed,

Then lots of practice

Is what you need.

[ Grunting ]

Ohh... Missed again.

[ Sighing ] ok, guys,

Let's try the long one

One more time.

Again? But we've been trying it again and again,

And we just can't do it.

[ Sighing ]

You mean I just can't do it.

I just can't cover enough ground to catch the long one.

It's not just you, brother.

There's no way we can win the county championship game

Unless we can do our three special plays:

Brother's long one, two-tall's high one down the middle

And cousin fred's surprise hand-off.

Without those plays, we're gonna lose

Big time.

But we've been practicing those plays over and over

And they are just not working.

Listen, we're all good at this game, right?

Right!

But then, how come we can't get these plays?

Let's face it. They're not easy.

These plays are a lot harder

Than the ones we're used to.

Maybe they're too hard.

[ Freddy ]: maybe we just can't get them

No matter how much we practice.

The only thing we're doing is wearing out the grass.

Let's try again.

We'll get them this time.

Ok, too-tall,

Here's your high one down the middle.

[ Grunting ]

[ Straining groaning ]

[ Sighing ]

Surprise hand-off!

[ Shouting ]

Dodge him, freddy, dodge him!

Whoa... Ahh!

Gotcha.

[ Groaning ]

Long one, brother! Go!

[ Grunting ]

[ Straining ]

There's gotta be an easier way than all this practicing.

Maybe there is.

What if we found a secret w*apon?

Someone who can run faster than brother,

Jump higher than too-tall and dodge better than me.

Great idea, but where are we

Gonna find someone like that, fred?

Huh?

[ Brother ]: wow! Nice catch, betsy!

Ugh! Whoa!

Nice throw too.

[ Freddy ]: hey...

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

I sure hope so.

What? What?

Hey, will someone tell me

What's going on?

Our secret w*apon. Huh?

[ Basketball dribbling ]

Our secret w*apon!

[ Grunting ]

[ Grunting ]

[ Brother ]: she can sure run faster than me.

And jump higher than me.

And dodge quicker than me.

[ Betsy ]: I already told you.

I can't join your football team.

I'm way too busy.

I have basketball, ballet and I run track.

But we need you, betsy.

I can't run fast enough for the long one.

And I can't jump high enough for the high one down the middle.

And I can't dodge quick enough

For the surprise hand-off.

And not only can you run, jump

And dodge better than any of us,

You can catch and throw too.

[ Laughing ]

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

But I think you are giving up on yourselves too easily.

All you need is more practice.

We did practice-- over and over.

And it didn't do any good.

We don't need more practice, betsy, we need you.

Betsy, betsy, betsy!

Betsy, betsy!

Oh, all right, I'll help you

With this championship game situation.

All right!

[ Betsy ]: but on one condition.

When you are not at football practice,

Then you will help me practice my other activities.

No problem. We'll do anything.

I'll help with your track and field.

And I'll help with your basketball.

Yeah, yeah, whatever.

We'll help you and you help us.

Is it a deal?

Deal.

So, uh, if I'm helping betsy with track...

And I'm helping her with basketball...

Then I guess I'm helping her with-- ballet?!

[ Panting ]

Phew...

Can we... Try a different pace for a while, betsy?

[ Panting in exertion ]

[ Gasping ]

I meant slower.

Oh...

Ready?

I dodge and you-- huh?

Try to get the ball.

[ Ballet music playing ]

[ Straining ]

This ballet stuff isn't so hard once you... Huh?

Get the hang of it.

Chasing betsy around the track is wearing me out.

She's... Wearing me out on the... Basketball court too.

[ Panting ]

Now I know why there aren't--

Many boy ballerinas--

It's way too hard.

We can call it off any time you like.

Like I said before,

You don't need my help. You need practice.

We did practice, a lot.

And it didn't get us anywhere.

You're our only hope, betsy.

A deal's a deal.

And we're sticking to it.

Fine with me.

Phew!

You know, I was thinking.

Maybe one of you guys might like a change?

Ballet really isn't as hard as I said.

No thanks, tutu. I mean, too-tall.

[ Laughing ]

[ Panting ]

Hey, that's pretty fast, brother.

[ Panting ]

Thanks.

Time to change gears.

[ Panting and straining ]

[ Freddy ]: whoa.

Nice dodging, cousin fred.

Huh?

Whoa, she's good.

[ Too-tall ]: uh-up.

Hey-hey!

Uh-up.

Looking good, too-tall.

Uh-up.

Hey-hey!

Uh-up.

[ Moaning and groaning ]

Hi, guys.

Aren't you sore, brother?

And tired?

You betcha. Like never before.

Then why are you so happy?

Because the big game is tomorrow.

Which means we only have to help betsy for one more day.

Right, then it's her turn to help us win the championship.

[ Boys ]: yeah!

Whoo!

Yeah, very good!

Where is betsy?

She knows the big championship game is today.

There she is.

[ Too-tall ] where's your uniform?

The game's about to start.

But I'm not playing.

But you promised. You said you'd play.

No.

I never said I would play.

I said I would help you.

She's right, guys. I remember.

She did only say she would help us.

And that's exactly what I did.

Huh?

I helped you.

All the time you guys were helping me, I was helping you.

Brother, you were practicing running for the long one.

Too-tall, you were practicing jumping,

To catch the high one down the middle.

And, cousin fred, you were practicing dodging

For the surprise hand-off.

I've been telling you all along.

All you had to do was keep practicing

Until you could make those plays.

And now you can.

You know, she's right.

I bet I can dodge around

Their whole team now.

And I bet I can run fast enough to make the catch.

And I bet I can jump high enough

To catch the ball, and then some.

Then what are you waiting for?

Go do it![ Whistle blowing ]

[ Cheering ]alright! Go, too-tall!

Uh-up!

Yeah!

[ Cheering ]

Yay, too-tall!

[ Grunting ]

[ Straining ]

Yay, brother!

[ Grunting ]

Whoo!

[ Cheering ]

Yay, cousin fred!

We won! We won!

You dodged them, freddy.

That was nothing compared to

Your jumping and brother's running.

I knew you guys could do it.

We couldn't have done it without you, betsy.

You showed us that success

Really boils down to three things.

Three things?

Practice...

Practice...

And even more practice.

[ Laughing ]

[ Crowd cheering ]

Betsy! Betsy!

Betsy! Betsy!
