Because, well,

You're too busy doing important grown-up jobs.

[ Freddy ]: come on, sister.

Our team's at bat.

I'm up first!papa,

You know, I like the important jobs

You get to do when you're all grown up,

But I miss playing with my friends.

Then maybe you shouldn't be in such a hurry to grow up.

It's not just grown-ups who have important jobs to do.

Really?

[ Papa ]: sure.

Cubs have all sorts of important jobs to do too.

You already take care of little lady:

Feeding her and making sure she gets lots of exercise.

That's an important job.

Oh.

And being a big brother to sister

When she needs help with her homework,

Or wants to learn how

To throw a curveball are important jobs too.

And don't forget about ms. Grizzle.

A grown-up bear like me

Would never have been able to climb up that tree.

Only a cub could have done that.

I never thought of that.

[ Papa ]: and just being a good friend

To your pals is also a very important job.

Papa, would it be ok if I was a good friend

Right now and went to play baseball?

[ Chuckling ]: you betcha.

Thanks.

And I'll be glad to give you a hand with any grown-up jobs,

If I can squeeze them in with all my cub jobs, too.

Ok?any time.

Your tool belt will be right here waiting.
