Parking's all paid for. What did I miss?

[ Laughs ]

I'm just kidding. We just got here.

What could possibly have -- Hex showed up,

and Ben is fighting him in the air. What?

Hex: Petulant child,

what affords you the authority to judge me?

How about the authority of, "I'm the good guy.

You're the bad guy"?

It's the truth, Ruth.

♪♪

Truth?

[ Grunts ]

Don't tell me you've never lied before.

What would I have to lie about? I'm awesome.

[ Grunts ]

♪♪

[ Both grunting ]

Max: Oh, no! They're headed for the Ayasha Plinths.

The Ayasha Plinths?

A monument built by an ancient civilization

that's said to have magical properties.

It's essentially where great leaders were tested. Great.

Ben can barely even pass a math test.

[ Hex grunts ]

I think your relationship with the truth

is more tenuous than you believe.

Who are you to claim pure fidelity?

I'm surprised you don't know by now.

Here. Let me spell it out for you.

[ Grunting ] Literally.

Uh-oh.

Hex: Oh, my.

For millennia, this was a place

where heroes were made or broken,

But now...

what would those heroes think of you

destroying their sacred monument?

For that matter,

what will everyone else think?

The tourists,

the park rangers, your family?

I was trying to protect them from you.

I'm afraid that makes no difference.

There is a difference.

Well, if you're so sure, then explain it to them.

Explain your accident.

Max: Get away from him, Hex.

Ben, are you all right?

[ All gasp ]

All: The plinths!

Max: What happened here?

Uh...

What is it, Ben? You can tell us.

Hex: Yes, Ben. Go on and tell them.

Uh...

Hex did it all!

Literally none of this was me.

I swear. Hmm.

Uh, that could be any Ben with diamond powers.

Ben, seriously?

Well, uh, actually, Grandpa...

Hex: Just as I thought.

So you want to tell lies?

Then lies, you shall tell.

[ Sighs ]

The truth is, I wrecked the plinths,

but Hex tricked me into it.

I really didn't mean to.

All: Hmm.

Hex: They don't seem convinced.

What a shame.

But then, I suppose,

that's what happens when you tell so many lies.

You're the liar, Hex.

We both know what happened here.

That makes it your word against mine.

Now, I wonder which of us they will believe.

Uh, me?

All: Boo! Man: Go break some more plinths,

you plinth-breaker.

Not to worry, everyone.

I -- We can rebuild the plinths.

Will you lend me your strength?

[ All cheer ]

Ben: Hey, wait. Grandpa, Gwen.

what are you all doing?

Don't help him.

He's obviously evil.

Oh, I sure love helping

my objectively good friend, Hex.

Gwen, you believe me, don't you?

This is Hex we're talking about.

Ben, stop lying.

Hex is trying to fix the damage you caused.

Gwen! Hex: [ Laughs evilly ]

As long as they're under my spell,

I speak only the truth,

and they'll never believe a word you say.

So tell me,

what's it like to be the villain?

Oh, wait. I already know.

I won't let you hurt them.

Why would I hurt them,

when they're helping me achieve total victory?

When those fools place the sacred plinths

in my formation,

I'll be able to summon the Golem of Ayasha --

a creature of such power,

the entire world will be at my mercy.

So I suggest you save yourself the trouble

and just give up now.

[ Grumbles ]

If you're done monologuing,

I've got a sound byte for you.

Here's the sound.

Aah!

And here comes the bite.

[ Grunts ]

-Oh, no! -Is he all right?

Hex: Monster!

Huh, me?

That thing att*cked Hex.

Let's get him.

Hey! You could really hurt someone with those rocks.

Liar! We could really hurt someone with these rocks.

-Ow. -Take that!

Gwen!

Hey, put me down.

Time for Team Tennyson to take a time-out.

Let's get out of here.

Let... Ow.

...Me... Ow.

...Go!

I want to go help Hex.

Hey!

Come on, Gwen. Hex put a spell on you.

Liar! [ Chuckles ] Yeah, right.

I'm lying,

because you weren't just throwing rocks at my head,

because you weren't yelling at me in an angry mob,

because you weren't carrying out Hex's evil plan.

I was throwing rocks at your head.

I was yelling at you in an angry mob.

I was carrying out Hex's evil plan.

Wait, what?

Oh, my gosh, Ben. I'm so sorry.

Right, because you're so sorry.

Oh, you are sorry.

Uh, well, apology accepted.

[ Chuckles sheepishly ] Yeah.

I guess Hex got into my head and everyone else's.

We got to get back there and stop him.

[ Both grunt ]

Oh, man, Hex is gonna summon that rock thing

at any moment,

and my watch is out of juice.

We'll figure it out.

We always do. Yeah.

Watch out, Hex. Here we come.

Ugh, that rock is not sitting well.

Hex: Oh, yes.

You are putting everything back together perfectly.

[ All cheering ]

[ Laughs ] Oh, I could get used to this.

And now that your task is complete,

as a reward, would you like to hear

one of my magic spells you all so dearly love?

-Yeah! -Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

I can't hear you.

Max: Oh, no. Why can't he hear us?

I don't understand.

No, I -- Uh, forget it.

I'll just do the spell.

[ Retches ]

♪♪

[ Laughs evilly ]

-Oh, no. -That's scary.

Don't be afraid.

With the Golem of Ayasha at my command,

I will bring peace and joy to the entire world.

You should be proud.

-Hey! Hey! -Whoo-hoo!

It's like the grandson I never had.

Oh, no. We're too late.

Okay. Okay. Here's the plan.

The crowd won't believe a word you say,

so you'll have to go about this strategically.

Oh, yeah!

Time to fight rock with Shock Rock!

Why do I bother?

[ Panting ]

Shock Rock: Yah!

[ Chuckles ]

[ Grunts ]

[ Straining ]

All: Aw!

[ Straining ]

This rock beast

is trying to destroy you all.

How do we know you're not a rock beast

trying to destroy us all?

Shock Rock: Aah!

[ Grunts, groans ]

[ Roars ]

[ Grunting ]

That monster's clearly trying to crush you.

Looks like they don't believe you.

But, then again,

why would they believe a villain?

-Get him! -Get him!

Ow! How am I the villain?

Ben, talking is only making things worse.

You have to do this silently.

Silently?

Aw, but that's no fun.

But I -- Shh! Shh!

Well -- Shh!

[ Groans ]

[ All shouting ]

Hey!

Shock Rock: Sorry, Grandpa.

You're not sorry!

♪♪

Shock Rock: [ Grunting ]

♪♪

[ Screaming ]

[ Grunts ]

♪♪

Yah! [ Grunts ]

No!

Give it up, Hex. It's over.

Fool! This will never be over.

As long as I control them,

I have the means to rebuild the Golem

and an army to keep you at bay.

Come on, Grandpa.

You still don't believe me?

You've wrecked the plinths twice now,

and you've been lying all day.

I see no reason to trust you.

Grandpa!

It's hopeless.

I guess Hex was right.

Sally: Wait. The liar said Hex was right.

Does that mean he's wrong?

Well, now I'm just confused.

That's it, Ben.

That's how you break the spell? Huh?

Just say the opposite of what you mean?

You mean, like, lie?

Um... lying for a good cause?

Ha! You think lying will solve what lying created?

Well, it's worth a try.

I mean, not worth a try. [ Chuckles ]

Ay.

Grandpa, I lied to you before.

Wait. I mean, I didn't lie.

I lied just now.

Uh...

Okay, do over.

Grandpa, the not-truth is

that I didn't break the plinths,

but it wasn't not on purpose.

[ Whispering ] Is that like an opposite thumbs up

or a regular one? Regular.

[ Normal voice ] Grandpa,

lying was the right thing to do,

and I'm truly not sorry.

I wasn't trying to protect you and Gwen from Hex

because I don't love you a whole lot,

and I never will.

All: Aww.

I specifically said

I didn't want to be used in any arcane rituals

on this trip. Hindsight's /, babe.

What? No!

Ben: So how does it feel to be the villain again?

Oh, wait. You already know.

[ All grunting ]

Next time, Tennyson, you won't be so lucky.

Rocky: Let me make it up to you, babe.

Next trip, Europe, or even Asia.

That looks like the last of it.

Thanks for helping me rebuild the plinths.

It's always nice to spend quality time

with my uncommonly attractive family.

You know, you don't have to keep lying anymore, right?

Gwen, I would never lie to you

unless you were under a really convoluted lying spell

and I had to lie to you to break the spell

or if I really didn't want

to tell you the truth about something.

Just kidding.

I've learned my lesson.

Are you sure you don't need some extra chores

to really drive the point home?

Me? What about Gwen?

She threw rocks at my head.

Hey, Grandpa did that, too.

Eh, well, maybe none of us

will do the chores.
