MAN: ♪ Well, it's a sunny day

♪ I feel brand-new

♪ There's about a million things that I could do ♪

♪ Whoa, would you like to...

♪ Do them, too?

♪ Yeah

♪ Well, it's a big wide world

( clapping to music )

♪ Let's look around

♪ What will we see?

♪ Round every corner, a discovery ♪

( wind whistling )

CUSACK: It started out innocently enough--

with a single piece of paper.

( Chirp humming )

CUSACK: Chirp took a shine to the paper,

though she couldn't decide why.

I like that it's blue.

Or wait...

I like that it's crinkly.

It doesn't matter-- I just like it.

Because it's blue...

or crinkly.

( both laughing )

Hi, Chirp!

Hi, Blue. Hi, Crinkly.

Um... is that valuable?

Is it something I should have instead of you?

What do you like best about this?

Um... that it's a present for me.

( quacks )

Hey, I saw something just like that today!

Yeah! I'll show you.

Ah, Peep.

Peep, Peep, Peep, Peep, Peep, Peep, Peep, Peep.

This is round and hard.

That isn't.

They're completely different!

They're the exact same color blue!

Okay, other than the blue,

they're completely different.

Well, I like them both,

so it must be the blue that I like.

CUSACK: Chirp headed home with the button,

because the only thing better than one blue thing is

two blue things.

Huh?

CUSACK: Over the next few days,

Chirp found a lot of things to collect.

( grunts )

( chuckles )

See? This is the crinkly-things- that-aren't-blue pile,

and that's the blue-things- that-aren't-crinkly pile,

and over there are the blue, crinkly things.

Uh, and what about those?

Well, those are shiny things,

those are pointy things,

these are...

Brown things?

Light brown things.

This one's round things,

and these are things that look like worms!

But, Chirp...

how do you get to your bush?

It's easy, I...

Oh.

Maybe I should sleep at your place tonight.

( Peep snores snorting, Chirp snores sighing )

( snorting ) ( sighing )

( groans )

( snoring )

Hmm...

( snoring )

( Chirp grunts, metal rattles )

Huh?

Chirp?

Wha-wha...

Whoa!

( Chirp grunting )

( grunting )

I can't decide.

This could go with the large metal things,

but it would also work really well in the round-things pile.

Maybe you should try sleeping at Quack's tonight.

Less distracting.

CUSACK: A few days later,

Peep was visiting Quack, looking for Chirp.

She was sleeping under that bush last night,

( mimics Chirp ): mumbling about "small, fluffy things"

and "square, purple things."

Hey, I just felt a raindrop.

You should get a hat.

I never feel rain on my head.

See? I didn't feel that.

Okay, I might have felt that.

( screams )

Where's my hat?!

Okay, I'm okay.

Breathe!

( quacks )

( breathes deeply )

Peep, have you seen my hat?

No.

Maybe Chirp put it in one of her collections.

CUSACK: Quack marched off to Chirp's bush,

determined to have a word about her "collecting" hobby.

There you are!

Did you take...

Your hat?

Uh-huh.

I think it's in the things- you-can-wear-on-your-head pile.

Wait!

Hmm...

Hmm...

CUSACK: Chirp sorted her two friends into piles,

then went off to collect more stuff.

( sighs )

CUSACK: Peep, of course, is in the yellow-things pile,

while Quack...

I'm in the large-blobby-things pile.

Okay?

CHIRP: Beaver Boy,

you can sit here.

I'll move Peep and Quack over with you

to make a friends-of-mine pile.

Hmm!

( grunts )

Number one,

you have too much stuff.

Number two, you shouldn't put your friends in piles.

Number three...

( shouts ): I want my hat back... now!

Please?

You're right.

I have to do something about all these piles.

I'm sorry, Quack.

I'll go find your hat.

Now you're talking!

CUSACK: So while Peep and Quack escorted Beaver Boy home,

Chirp got right to work.

( sighs )

I did it! See?

No more things- that-look-like-worms pile!

What's that?

It looks like a worm.

Oh, uh... ( chuckles )

I didn't get rid of the wormy things.

I just, uh... moved them into different piles.

See, the green wormy thing is now in the green pile.

( exasperatedly ): Chirp, you were supposed to get rid of this stuff

and find my...

hat!

( giggling )

( grunting )

( pile rumbling )

Quack, no!

You'll tip it!

( chuckles )

( rumbling )

( all scream )

( quacks )

( muffled ): Okay, okay.

I'll get rid of my stuff.

( muffled ): Thank you.

( quacks )

Hmm...

CUSACK: Chirp, Peep and Quack invited everyone they knew

to come and take whatever they wanted.

Step right up, don't be shy!

Everything must go!

( raccoon chuckles )

( turtle chuckles )

( Chirp sighs )

There goes my last checkered-rectangular thing.

Now all that's left is...

Oh.

Oh! It looks so lonely.

Maybe I should get just one more blue thing

to keep it company.

Or... no! A crinkly thing!

CHIRP: Or I could get two things!

CUSACK: Quack, thinking quickly, knew exactly what to do.

( chomping noisily )

( gulps )

There. Hmm.

Now it's in the things-ducks- have-to-eat-

in-order-to-help- their-friends pile.

( burps )

Pardon me.

( chuckles )

Hey, Isabella.

Hey, Gregorio.

GREGORIO: That's Isabella and me, and we're visiting Nicholas.

He's showing us his rock collection.

GREGORIO: This one looks like a dress.

This one looks like a storm on this side.

( objects crash in background )

That was scary.

NICHOLAS: Oh, my goodness!

WOMAN: Can you help me sort these things out please?

I just dropped them.

NICHOLAS: Well, my mother dropped this box.

ISABELLA: And she asked us to sort it out.

This is going to be a long day.

You put things into groups.

According to size, color...

ISABELLA: There are

lots of ways to sort.

I'm sorting these little screws,

but one doesn't belong, and that one is this one.

It's too tall to be in this group.

GREGORIO: I'm sorting these screws.

It's about an inch tall and it's silver-grayish.

This is too black and it's too thin.

GREGORIO: Nicholas is sorting washers.

This one is gray...

this one is gold.

And this one is big...

and this one is very tiny.

This one is both tiny and gray, so I'll put that in the middle.

GREGORIO: Try organizing and sorting things at your home.

♪ There's lots of different animals ♪

♪ But you've got to admit

♪ If you're looking for a special one ♪

♪ Ducks are kind of it.

Ho!

That's me! I'm a duck!

( humming )

CUSACK: If there were a vote for "Best Singer"...

♪ Mi-mi-mi-mi!

♪ Mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi-mi!

CUSACK: Quack decided to give a practice concert

in his new venue.

( clearing throat )

( clears throat again )

( shivering )

♪ Mi, mi-mi, mi!

Uh, cold floor.

CUSACK: Quack soon realized that a cold audience is a restless audience.

Don't move.

( chuckles )

( laughing )

Just remember that ducks have loud and forceful voices.

( clears throat )

( voice not resonating ): ♪ Mi, mi, mi, mi, mi!

( stops abruptly )

( takes deep breath )

Maybe these pillows have something to do with it.

What does your being comfy have to do with my voice?

CUSACK: Quack, Peep and Chirp went looking

for a better, louder place to hold Quack's concert.

There seems to be enough room for my admirers, but...

( clears throat again )

( Quack's voice echoing )

Some other duck is singing here.

CUSACK: Quack kept searching for the perfect concert hall.

( quacks ) ♪ Mi, mi, mi.

He does have some other songs, right?

( reverberating ): ♪ Mi, mi-mi, mi...

♪ Mi, mi, mi, mi, mi, mi. ♪

♪ Mi-mi-mi-mi- mi-mi-mi. ♪

( Quack quacking, clearing throat, singing )

CUSACK: By now, Quack had sung in so many places

that Peep and Chirp were beginning to hope...

I-I mean, worry that Quack would lose his voice.

QUACK ( hoarsely, voice resonating ): ♪Mi, mi, mi, mi, mi, mi, mi, mi... ♪

ALL: Huh?

( all cheering )

That's it!

That's the place!

♪ Mi mi mi mi mi mi mi mi mi!

It's all about me, ♪ mi mi mi mi...!

( echoing softly ): ♪ Mi...!

Yep... That'll do.

CUSACK: So now that Quack had the name of the concert...

"An Afternoon with Quack."

CUSACK: The time...

Tomorrow afternoon.

CUSACK: And the place...

The big, long, uh... the long, round, you know... the thing.

CUSACK: All he needed to do was invite his many fans.

Oh...

Um... oh-oh...

The... the fish!

He'll figure it out.

CUSACK: Quack never saw just how disappointed Peep and Chirp were

to be missing his concert.

( cheering gleefully )

I mean... too bad, right?

Yeah...

I was really looking forward to it.

CUSACK: Yeah!

Oh, well.

Maybe another time.

Don't worry.

I'll give another concert for you guys.

BOY: That's me, Carlos and Erica.

We are playing basketball at the gym.

The basketball makes a really big noise in the gym.

( basketball bounce echoes )

Because it's so big and kind of empty,

the sound bounces around the room.

( clap echoes )

Now we're going to go into the lobby.

( clap echoes dully )

It's really small in here-- not as big as the gym--

so it doesn't make as good of a sound.

( clap echoes )

This is the men's bathroom.

( clap echoes sharply )

Whoa!

When I clap,

I hear this little "drrr."

( clap echoes sharply )

Not like in the gym.

( clap echoes )

Something like "brrrr."

A cone!

( humming tune, voice resonating )

BOY: The cone makes my voice sound louder.

( repeating "Hello," voice resonating )

It sounds like I'm in a tunnel.

Hello!

BOY ( voice reverberating ): ♪ My name is Carlos

♪ This is so strange

♪ Da, daa, daa, da, da, daa.

He sounds-- like he said-- really strange.

BOY : Make some sounds in different places

and listen to how the sound changes.

( drumming in different timbres )
