- I'm angelina ballerina, and today is saturday,

But not a normal saturday.

- Angelina!

Breakfast!

- Oh, yes! It's saturday!

Saturday is absolutely, positively

My most favorite day of the week!

- Look, mum.

The spoon and fork are ballerinas,

Just like angelina.

[Giggles]

[Humming]

Oh!

Oh-oh-oh!

Ugh! Ugh!

There's not supposed to be a box there.

- Remember, angelina, we moved yesterday,

And you sleeped in my room last night,

'Cause your room has boxes in it.

- Polly, of course I remember, but I'd rather not.

- What do you say we spend the day

Exploring our new neighborhood?

- Yes!

- No!

- No? Why "no"?

- I want to spend the day eating scones

And playing with alice,

Just like it's always been saturdays.

[Doorbell rings]

- Morning mail!

- I'll get it! I'll get it! I'll get it!

- Angelina, dear, saturday can't always be the way it was.

We've moved to the other side of chipping cheddar now.

- Things have... Changed.

- I know.

Alice isn't next door,

And miss lilly isn't just around the corner anymore.

[Sighs]

I wonder if things will ever be like before.

[Dreamy music]

In my old cottage, I never bumped into anything.

I knew just where everything was.

I could go to ballet class with alice

And smell miss lilly's beautiful lavender perfume,

And now it's all changed.

[Record scratches]

And I don't like it.

- [Humming]

- Mum, I need to practice my rond de jambe.

May I be excused?

- Of course, dear.

I'm always happy to see a dancer dancing.

- Me too! Me too!

I want to dance!

- No, polly.

You'll only get in the way.

- Will not!

- Will too!

Oh, where is my music player?

It must be in a box.

I can't find it anywhere.

Fine.

I'll just pretend I have music.

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

Ugh!

[Sighs]

I can't dance without my music!

- Mum says I get to do round jams too!

- It's rond de jambe,

And nobody's going to get to do them,

Because I can't find my music player.

- Oh, dear, it may have gotten lost in the move.

You girls can dance to the music on my player.

[Somber piano music]

- But I want my own music.

This is too slow.

My music has just the right tempo.

- This is a new piece of music.

But listen.

It has the same tempo.

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

- One, two, three.

One, two--

Oh!

I don't care if it does have the same tempo.

I want my own music.

[Music slows]

- Whee-hee-hee!

[Giggles]

- Oh, my, now it is too slow.

I'll have to get this fixed.

- I wish we'd never moved!

I want my own music.

I don't want things all changed around.

Ugh!

Oh, careful, polly!

- Oh!

I almost forgot to remember.

This letter is for you.

- Wow!

It's from camembert academy, my new school.

Classes start next week.

Oh, no!

- Why, "oh, no"?

They have dancing there, and you're such a good dancer!

- But in this new class,

I might not be able to dance right!

[Dreamy musical flourish]

[Upbeat orchestral music]

Oh, no! Oh!

[Laughter]

But how can I make things the way they were?

How?

[Gasps]

Polly, go in the kitchen.

I think I hear the tooth fairy!

- [Gasps] the tooth fairy is here!

[Phone beeping]

- [Clears throat]

Camembert academy?

This is mrs. Mouseling.

We're moving back to our little cottage.

So please give angelina's place in your school

To somebody else.

Yes, that's right.

Angelina won't be coming to your school after all.

Thanks.

Bye.

[Sighs]

- Angelina!

I can't find the tooth fairy.

- [Gasps]

- Mum, make angelina tell me

Where the tooth fairy is!

- Polly, dear, angelina was just joking.

Can you help me find my towel?

Oh, there it is.

- No! Wait!

- Wait for what, angelina?

[Phone rings]

- Um...um...i...

- Come upstairs, matilda.

You have a phone call.

- I wonder who it could be.

- If it's grandma, I want to talk.

I want to talk!

- [Sighs]

- Darling, now that I've almost finished my work,

I think I'll go downstairs and relax.

- [Gasps]

- On second thought,

Perhaps I'll take a nap on the sofa.

- [Gasps]

- No, I should give the plants a nice watering instead.

Or perhaps I'll read a book.

- [Panting nervously]

Oh, oh...

- What are you doing, dear?

- Nothing.

- You're acting strangely, angelina.

I think you and I should take a little walk.

- Me too!

I want to take a walk too!

[Whimsical music]

- Isn't it nice,

Walking around our new neighborhood?

- Um, I guess so.

- Polly, dear.

Don't go too far away.

- Mum, i--

- Mum! Angelina!

Come quick.

I found something!

And, angelina, it's good.

See?!

It's really, really good!

- [Gasps]

Oh!

[Sighs]

- And it's so near our new house.

- I guess it's kind of good.

- Guess what.

We found something really, really good!

- Oh!

- [Gasps]

- Angelina, this is for you.

- Mum!

It's from miss lilly!

- What does it say?

- "My dear angelina,

"I am writing to tell you that your new ballet teacher

"At camembert is an old friend of mine.

Her name is ms. Mimi."

Oh, mum, look what she says next!

- "I have told ms. Mimi

"What an excellent dancer you are,

And she can't wait to have you as a student."

- My new teacher knows I'm an excellent dancer!

Isn't that excellent?

- Speaking of excellent things,

Dad's been working on a surprise for you.

Let's go take a look at it.

- A surprise?

For me?

[Gasps]

Oh!

This is all for me?

A place to practice right in my room!

I can dance anytime I want!

- Me too!

- Yes, you too, polly.

Oh, I love it!

Thank you, dad!

Thank you, mum!

Everything's excellent.

There's a ballet store right around the corner,

And my new teacher knows miss lilly.

And I can dance in my room and at my new school.

Oh! But...

Mum, I told a terrible lie,

And now I won't be able to go to camembert

Because I called and--

- Told them to give away your place

Because we weren't moving?

- How did you know?

- Remember that phone call dad called me upstairs for?

It was camembert.

- They recognize a scared little mouseling

When they hear one.

- And I hid this letter too.

- So you thought if we didn't know when school started,

You wouldn't have to go?

- Angelina, we're disappointed in you.

- Me too.

I guess I was afraid

Of not being able to see alice every saturday

And of not going to miss lilly's school.

- You were afraid of all those changes.

- Uh-huh.

I was trying to make everything stay the same.

- Change isn't always a bad thing;

It's just, well, different.

- We all had to leave some things behind,

But there are many exciting things here.

- And new friends too.

- And your old friends won't forget you.

- That's really good, isn't it?

- It's really, really good, polly.

- Dance with me, angelina.

[Slow piano music]

- You know, polly, I kind of like this new music.

It has a great tempo.

See?

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

One, two, three.

[Both chuckling]

- You know what?

Change isn't so bad after all.

- [Sighs]

- Now it's time to meet camembert's shining stars!

- Hi.

[Speaking japanese]

My name is kenichi.

I'm from japan.

I started dancing when I was years old.

This is a story of a mannequin in a store

That comes to life.

[Soft hip-hop music]

I taught myself dancing by watching videos and tv.

What is cool about dancing

Is that I can communicate with people

Without talking.

If you're interested, you can learn

By watching other dancers

And then develop your own style.

[Gears clanking]

[Mechanical whirring]

[Beeping]

- [Deep voice] good.

- Hit it!

[Record scratches]

[Hip-hop music]

- [Rapping in japanese]

One thing I love about dancing

Is to give energy to the audience.

Then I get energy back from them.

Hip-hop is popular all around the world.

[Speaking japanese]

Means "I love dancing" in japanese.

I just love dancing.

- I'm angelina ballerina,

And today is one of the most exciting days

Of my entire life.

[Camera clicks]

- That big smile tells me you're feeling very good

About your first day at your new school, angelina.

- Here's your lunch.

Today's a half-day,

But you still get to eat with your new friends.

- Oh, there had better be time to dance.

At camembert academy, I get to dance every day!

- Me too!

And I want to be in the first day of school picture.

[Shutter clicks]

- [Chuckles] there you go.

- Oh, I can't wait to see my new school.

Bye, mum!

Bye, polly!

- I want to go too.

- [Laughs]

Polly, you're too little to go to school,

But you can come visit me at camembert.

- [Gasps]

Really, really?

- Really, really.

- [Giggles]

Mwah!

Bye, angelina!

Happy dancing!

- [Panting]

- Ah.

Angelina, look.

There it is.

- Oh!

Camembert academy.

Dad, it's so... So...

Beautiful.

This is nice,

But it's a lot bigger than my old school.

- Hi.

Are you new?

- Welcome to camembert.

I'm vici.

This is marco.

You're going to be in our class.

- Have a great day with your new friends, angelina.

Mum and polly will be waiting for you after school.

- Thanks! - Bye!

- Bye, dad!

- Come on, let's go meet gracie.

Gracie, look!

We found the new girl.

- Hi!

I'm gracie.

- I'm angelina.

Is it true that at this school,

You get to dance every day?

- Every singleday.

- And on the first day of school,

All the new kids get to dance or sing or play music

Right here.

- [Gasps] wow.

What a stupendous stage!

- We call this the lunchtime theater.

- Because it's a theater where anyone can get up and perform

While we eat lunch.

You can be the first new student to dance today at lunchtime.

And when you finish, you'll get a red rose.

- A red rose?

[Gasps]

Wow, I can't wait!

[Bell rings]

Oh!

- You're going to love it here, angelina mouseling.

- Wait a minute.

How did you know my last name?

- Our dance teacher, ms. Mimi,

Told us all about you.

- [Gasps]

Finally, I'm going to meet ms. Mimi.

All: good morning, ms. Mimi.

- Good morning, children.

- Oh, it's happening!

I'm about to meet ms. Mimi.

- Uh-oh.

These flower boxes are supposed to go outside.

You can stay here and dance.

- Oh!

- I'll see you at lunchtime.

- Whoa!

Oh!

Oops.

- Don't worry.

My cousin's just like you.

She's clumsy.

Oh, but I'm always nice to her.

That was, um...

A new ballet move.

A grand tummy twirl.

I was just trying it out.

- Oh, I've done ballet before.

- I used to take ballet too.

[Upbeat fiddle music]

- Oh, what kind of music is that?

- You've never heard celtic music?

It's from ireland.

- No.

- I'm playing so vici can practice.

- My irish step dance.

- It's cool because you can do it in a really small space.

- Even on a tabletop.

Want to try it with me?

- [Gasps]

Um, I only know how to do ballet.

I've got to get my book bag.

First I fall on my face in front of everybody,

And then I'm the only one who wants to dance ballet.

I'm beginning to think I'll never, ever feel at home

At camembert.

- Angelina, come on.

As soon as gracie's finished,

It'll be your turn to dance.

- Oh!

[Jazzy music]

- How can I just do ballet after she does that?

- And now, your turn.

- Go on, angelina.

You've still got time before lunch.

- What music should I play?

I'm a pretty good accompanist.

- [Sighs]

Um, not classical music.

Something more jazzy.

[Upbeat violin music]

More like what vici does.

- Oh, okay.

[Fast music]

- Um, and what gracie does.

[Jazzy music]

Oh.

[Fast music]

Oh. Ah.

Whoa!

[Jazzy music]

[Fast music]

Whoa!

Oh. Oh.

[Jazzy music]

Hmm.

[Fast music]

Ooh!

Oh!

Ugh!

[Sighs]

- Gee, it's hard to play along with that dance.

- Oh, it's not your fault.

I don't know what I'm doing.

[Bell rings]

[Gasps]

Oh, on top of everything, I forgot my lunch!

Oh, this is the worst first day of school ever!

[Crying]

- Angelina!

- [Gasps]

Mum!

What are you doing here?

- Bringing you your lunch.

Angelina, have you been crying?

- Oh, mum, nobody dances like I do.

I'm the only one who wanted to do ballet today.

- But you're really, really good.

Look, I even made a picture of you doing ballet.

- Thanks, polly.

But nobody else in my class wants to dance ballet today.

They're not going to like me 'cause I'm so different.

- Well, let's see...

Are you just like polly?

- No.

- And are you just like dad or me?

- No, but--

- See, every one of us is different.

- And if we were all exactly the same...

Then it would be...

Ah...it would be...

Well, it would be horrible.

- It would be quite dull,

Like having the same, exact cheese pie

For dinner every night.

- [Gasps]

Or having just one flavor of ice cream

In all of mouseland.

- Ice cream?

I want ice cream.

Vanilla!

No, strawberry!

No, no, no.

Cheddar chip!

- [Laughs]

You can decide when we stop for ice cream on the way home.

- Thanks, mum!

- Love you to bits, my little dancer.

- Whoa!

Three different kinds of cheese sticks.

Mmm!

- Put your paws together and give a big clap

For our new student, angelina!

[Applause]

Are you ready?

- Uh-huh.

- What kind of music should I play?

- Do you know any classical music?

[Cheerful classical music]

All: wow!

[Cheers and applause]

- Maybe I should take ballet again.

You were so amazing

That we decided not to give you a red rose.

- Oh.

- Because that's what ballerinas always get.

- We're giving you a yellow rose,

Something new and different, like you.

- Wow, thanks.

It's stupendous,

Just like my new and different school!

And soon, I'll be leaping and spinning

In ms. Mimi's class.

[Cheers and applause]

- Hola.

Marco here, and this is kenichi ebina from japan.

He's a great hip-hop dancer.

In this dance, kenichi tells a story about a mannequin

That comes to life.

That move is called "popping."

[Chuckles]

And here's an arm wave,

Like an ocean wave moving through him,

And that's locking.

See how fast his arms move?

You can learn hip-hop by watching other dancers

And even music videos.

And then you can make your very own dance style.

- Hello.

I'm angelina ballerina.

Did you know dance is a wonderful way to exercise?

Just as you warm up before exercise,

You should warm up before dance.

You have to warm your muscles so you won't get hurt.

It's best to warm up by stretching.

You can reach for your toes.

You can reach back.

Stretch that arm, now.

You can even bend backward like a noodle.

And once you're all warmed up--

Ta-da--

You're ready to dance!
