- I'm angelina ballerina,

And today chipping cheddar's in a carnival mood,

And it's all because of marco.

[Jubilant flute music]

You wiggled.

What's the matter, marco?

- I know this sounds silly,

But a couple of days from now,

It's going to be the costa mousa carnival.

- Costa mousa carnival?

- Yeah.

It's where I used to live before we came to chipping cheddar,

And every year, they'd have a carnival.

There'd be music and dancing and a carnival queen.

- A carnival queen?

I like the sound of that.

- It wouldn't be a carnival without a carnival queen.

- Wow.

I wish we could have a carnival.

- And then we'd have a great big conga dance

With bongo drums and maracas and cowbells,

And we'd party, party, party.

- Conga dance?

Is that hard to do?

Don't tell me you're all tired.

- No. I'm not tired.

Okay.

- [Laughs]

[Music stops]

- And so our next class project is to get more fit.

- What about push-ups, ms. Mimi?

Ha!

Ugh. Ooh.

- [Laughing] yes.

Did you know that athletes do ballet to keep fit?

- Of course we do.

Everyone knows that dancers are more fit than athletes.

- Then I'm the strongest of them all because I do both.

[Music plays]

- Now, listen up, mouselings.

Every part of your body must be strong to be a good dancer.

All: wow.

- We're going to choose a part of your body to exercise today.

Your assignment is to find a prop

To help strengthen a part of your body.

Now, for you, you work on your feet.

Alice, your arms.

Viki, your eyes.

- My eyes?

What does that mean, ms. Mimi?

I need to wear glasses?

- [Laughs] no, viki.

You have to find a prop to improve your balance.

- Yippee!

This is gonna be fun.

Whoa.

[Chuckles]

- A.z., Your knees.

Gracie, your tummy.

And, angelina, your...

Legs.

- [Thinking] and I thought that would be

Absolutely, positively easy-peasy.

- Angelina.

I figured out my prop.

Look at my arms.

- Ha ha!

Me too.

Check out this footwork.

What have you all found?

- Oh, I'll think of mine later.

Ms. Mimi gave me "legs" to work on.

That's so easy.

- Yes, you're so lucky.

I got balance.

What am I gonna do?

- I bet trish twirltail would have a good idea.

- Yippee.

I've got it.

Come on, angelina.

Try balancing this.

- Hmm.

I'm not sure trish would do that.

[Gasps]

[Laughter]

[Bell rings]

- That's my cue.

- What? To mess up the classroom?

- Y-you know, i-i did that on purpose.

Angelina, check this out.

I've found my prop.

It's giving my knees the best workout.

- One, two, three, four.

And it'll work with the music.

Being clumsy really worked out for you, a.z.

But I still haven't thought of anything.

Maybe alice can help me.

Alice.

I still don't have a prop.

Oh, boy, I should have thought about it sooner.

- Don't worry, angelina.

Gracie hasn't found anything yet.

Want to look together?

- Oh, stupendous.

Yes, please.

- [Gasps] oh, no.

Stop that cheese!

- Quick, alice.

Gracie's cheese is rolling away.

Oh, no. What a mess.

- Gracie, are you going to eat this huge piece of cheese

On your own?

- I'm not going to eat it.

It's my prop to strengthen my tummy muscles.

It's what I need for the project.

[Straining] these crunches...

Work my... Tummy muscles.

[Sighs]

- Oh, and the wobbly ball makes you work harder.

- Exactement.

You try, angelina.

- Ugh.

Oh.

Ooh.

Uh! Oops.

It's much harder than it looks.

Ooh. Oh!

- [Laughing] don't worry, angelina.

Practice makes perfect.

- Now I'm the only one who hasn't found something.

- What about this?

I think this can work for you, angelina.

Like a big step.

One, two...

Oops!

- Now you've put your foot in it.

[Laughter]

- How about this?

Ooh.

Buh.

It's really hard work to...

Splat!

- What?

Make orange juice?

- [Laughs]

- Oh, alice, I thought it would be so simple.

What am I going to do?

- I'm sorry, angelina.

I've got to go home for dinner,

But I promise to be here early in the morning.

- Thanks, alice.

My leg muscles didn't get a workout,

But we had a lot of fun.

[Sighs heavily]

- Yay!

Oh, angelina, watch this great game.

One, two, three.

Jump!

- Angelina, will you play?

- Not now, polly.

I'm too worried about my school project.

- Shall I play instead, polly?

- Oh, yes.

Pretty please with cheese.

One,

Two,

Three.

Keep up, mummy!

- Oh.

- Oh, no.

You landed in the river.

- Ooh. My legs. They're exhausted.

I didn't know jumping the river would be such hard work.

- [Thinking] and that's when I had my great idea.

Ta-da.

Refreshments for all you hardworking river jumpers.

- Oh, thank you, angelina,

But what brought this on?

- To thank polly.

And to say I'm sorry for not being a fun big sister,

When she was actually helping me.

- Helping you?

- Your jump the river game,

It's a great way to make our legs stronger.

- [Laughs] I can agree with that.

- So...

Can I join you, polly?

- Oh, yes, angelina!

- Hola! Marco here.

Whoa, is that violin missing a middle?

[Chuckles] nah.

That's an electric violin.

It's supposed to look like that.

You plug it in,

And the music comes out of a speaker.

And over here is an acoustic viola.

Acoustic means the sound comes right from the instrument.

Violas and violins are string instruments

That were only used for classical music at first.

But now they are used for jazz, rock--

Oh, you name it!

Man, those guys really make the strings sing.

- Hello, I'm angelina ballerina.

My friends are going to take something old,

Add it to something new, and make something fantastic!

They're mixing a little latin-- that's the old--

With a bit of hip-hop, which is new.

They do a latin cha-cha.

One, two. Cha-cha-cha.

And now hip-hop.

Jump! Jump!

The cha-cha's smooth and flowing,

While hip-hop's rather fast and sharp.

I love that the different steps

Make something simply stupendous.
