Hi, there. I'm dr. Scott the paleontologist. During the age

Of dinosaurs, while giant carnivores like t. Rex hunted

Animals on land, giant predators just as large swam in

The oceans, and one of the biggest of them all was

Mosasaurus. Mosasaurus was huge! It had a huge head, huge

Teeth, huge, powerful flippers, and a huge tail. The largest

Mosasaurus grew to about feet long and weighed tons!

That's bigger than t. Rex!

Mosasaurus was a predatory reptile, but it wasn't a

Dinosaur. Nope. It belongs to the same group of reptiles as

Lizards. In fact, some of the closest living relatives of

Mosasaurus alive today are giant land lizards like the

Komodo dragon. You can see they have a lot in common. For

Example, they both have big heads with plenty of sharp

Teeth, as well long, strong tails, but mosasaurus had

Flippers instead of legs and probably couldn't even come out

Of the water. Instead, it was an expert swimmer and a great

Hunter, feeding on fish, squid, and shelled creatures like

Ammonites. Isn't it amazing that millions of years ago

Reptiles living in the oceans were bigger than most dinosaurs

Roaming around on land? Ok.
