01x10 - Mysterious Mount X 1: A Peek at the Peak

Post by bunniefuu »

Welcome to Plum Landing.

See?

Right there?

Mount X.

Mysterious, unexplored

and very tall!

I found this map tucked into an atlas.

It must be years old.

Very old for you.

For me, not so old.

Anyway, I would love to make an explorers' game

about Mount X.

Will you go there to observe, explore

and report your findings?

- Yes! - Yeah.

Fantastic!

You guys are the best.

So the Plink, as usual, can take pictures,

show maps, speed through time.

But I've added a few new features.

Push here, here or here

and it can read temperature and elevation,

stick to any surface

or measure a moose.

Measure a moose?

Why would we want to do that?

You never know, and it pays to be prepared.

Okay, three groups this time.

Clem, you're group one.

Cooper and Oliver, two.

Gabi and Brad, you're number three.

- Yay! - Awesome!

And here are your bubbles.

Bye!

Bye, Plum!

See you!

See you later!

Bye!

[blows a kiss]

Don't forget to Plink.

[kids cheering]

[humming]

I love my bubble.

Oh, my gosh!

This is so beautiful!

[Plink beeping]

I'm here, Plum.

This is the most beautiful place I've ever been.

I might have to write a poem.

I knew you'd love it.

Just be sure to observe everything you can

and take lots of notes.

I will.

Bye.

Oh, mountain.

Oh, lovely mountain.

Spiky with snow and

What is this?

Lichen.

Species Xanthoria.

Typically a fungus and algae growing together.

Lichen can survive extreme environments,

from the cold arctic to the hot desert.

Wow.

You're a tough little guy.

Spikey with snow and lichen.

Sea of white and

blue.

[Plink beeping]

Hello?

Hey, Clem.

How's it going?

I love this mountain.

You don't mind the snakes?

Snakes?

What snakes?

We've seen two already.

I don't know what kind they are,

but they're black and red

with a white stripe down the middle.

It's a red-sided garter snake.

Not poisonous.

Phew, did you hear that?

Apparently, it's a red-sided

[yelling]

Cooper!

You scared the snake.

He was trying to strangle me!

Dude, he was trying to get to the ground.

He thought you were a tree.

[giggles]

I have to go, okay?

I need to take measurements.

Have fun with the snakes.

Okay, temperature is degrees Fahrenheit.

Brr

That's pretty chilly for summer.

Elevation

, feet?

Depth of snow pack.

Six feet, two inches.

Type of rock: limestone.

Life-forms?

Hmm

Not much.

But there's lichen,

and that little blue flower is an alpine forget-me-not.

No trees, no bushes.

And definitely no snakes.
