Today, Mr. Malik is at school

and he has a surprise to show us!

And then, I'm playing in the snow with Katerina.

It's gonna be tigertastic!

I'll be riiiight back.

He's our teacher today.

Katerina Kittycat: Awww.

The song is over, meow meow?

Mr. Malik: I'll play one more tune.

All Kids: [excited] Yay!

Mr. Malik: And then, it will be time to do something else.

All Kids: Okay!

♪ [harmonica playing]

♪♪ All Kids: [giggling]

Mr. Malik: Okay, that's the end of the song!

Prince Wednesday: Boop-she-boop-she-boo!

All Kids: [excited] Yay! Jodi Platypus: Yippy skippy!

Miss Elaina: Look what I can do!

Jodi: [giggles] I can do it too!

Mr. Malik: Alright class,

I have something else planned for you now.

Katerina: But Mr. Malik, watch this!

Twiiirl!

Daniel: I can twirl too!

Prince Wednesday: Woo! Yay! [giggle]

Mr. Malik: Alright,

I know it can be hard to stop what you're doing sometimes.

But I like to say,

♪ to do something else.

Kids: ♪ I can stop when it's time ♪

Mr. Malik: Okay class,

thank you for stopping.

Now, let's take some deep breaths

to help us calm down

so we can be ready to do something else.

Let's breathe in.

All: [deep inhale]

Mr. Malik: And breathe out.

All: [deep exhale]

Mr. Malik: [calmly] Do you feel ready now?

Daniel: [calmly] I feel ready.

Katerina: Yes, meow meow.

O The Owl: I do too, hoo hoo.

Mr. Malik: Super-duper.

I brought a surprise for you today!

Prince Wednesday: Ooo! Jodi: Really?

Mr. Malik: Follow me!

Ready?

Kids: [gasp] Whoa! Wow!

Mr. Malik: [chuckle] Miss Elaina: Mr. Malik?

Are those shells the surprise?

Mr. Malik: Hmm, they're part of the surprise...

Prince Wednesday: [to shell] A rrrroyal hello, shell!

Daniel/O The Owl/Miss Elaina: [giggles]

Daniel: Ooh, that one has stripes!

Like me!

O The Owl: [off screen] What is that, hoo hoo?

Miss Elaina: Whoa! Daniel: It's moving!

Mr. Malik: It's the surprise!

This is my pet,

it's a hermit crab.

Miss Elaina: Boomerific! Daniel: Tigertastic!

Daniel: [to crab] Hello!

Katerina: [off screen] Where'd she go, meow meow?

Daniel: She went back in her shell!

Mr. Malik: [off screen] Yes. [chuckle]

Her shell is her home.

Prince Wednesday: [off screen] She came back out!

Daniel: Wowww!

Katerina: [off screen] [to crab] Hello!

Prince Wednesday: [off screen] She's moving!

Jodi: [off screen] [giggles]

I like the way she walks.

Daniel: [to viewer] Did you see that?

O The Owl: [amazed] Nifty galifty...

Miss Elaina: Whoa...

She crawls, then stops!

Again and again! [giggle]

Daniel: Like this!

Crawl, crawl, stop!

Kids: [giggle]

Crawl, crawl, stop!

[giggle] Crawl, crawl, stop!

Katerina: I'm a hermit crab!

And this is my shell, meow meow!

I'm in my shell!

I'm out of my shell!

Mr. Malik: [chuckles]

Jodi: I'm a hermit crab too!

Look at my bluuue shell! [giggle]

O The Owl: I have a shell too, hoo hoo!

Mr. Malik: Wow, we have so many happy

hermit crabs in class today!

Katerina: Peek-a-boo!

Kids: [giggle]

Jodi: I'm sliiiding into my twisty shell!

Bye bye! [giggles]

Daniel: [to viewer] Heyyy...

Do you want to make-believe with me?

Let's make believe,

we're going down a giant

twisty shell slide!

♪ [sparkly transition]

♪♪

♪ This giant shell can be a slide! ♪

♪ Let's climb to the top and go for a ride! ♪

♪ Keep climbing high, Come on don't stop! ♪

♪ Let's get to the tippy-top!

♪ Slipping, sliding, Gliding down, ♪

♪ Let's ride this slide, Round and round! ♪

♪ Come on let's slide!

♪♪

♪ And slide some more!

♪ Until we splash onto the shore, ♪

♪ On the shore!

♪ [sparkly transition]

[to viewer] Wasn't that grr-ific?

Mr. Malik: [off screen] Okay, hermit crabs!

Kids: [giggle] Mr. Malik: Go ahead

and take your last few steps...

It's almost time to read a story.

Kids: [giggling][playing]

Mr. Malik: All right, children. It's time to stop.

Please come to the rug for story time!

♪♪

Miss Elaina: ♪ I can stop when it's time... ♪

Kids: ♪ ...to do something else. ♪

Jodi: Ahhh! Miss Elaina: Ah!

Mr. Malik: Excellent.

Thank you for stopping, everyone.

Okay...

[to children] What do you see about their shells?

Jodi: That one has a bigger shell than that one!

Mr. Malik: [chuckle] Yes, Jodi!

Niko has a bigger shell than Hazel.

[reading] 'One day, Hazel and Niko felt like

their shells were too small!

Their bodies were growing,

and they needed to find bigger shells

that would fit them better!'

Daniel: Mr. Malik?

Where do hermit crabs find new shells?

Mr. Malik: Good question, Daniel!

Miss Elaina: Do they go to a shell store?

Mr. Malik: Let's see what the book tells us!

[reading] 'They searched and searched

all over the beach and soon...

Niko found the perfect shell!

It was just the right size!'

Prince Wednesday: [curious] But how will Niko

get into his new shell?

Mr. Malik: [reading] 'Niko crawled out of his

too-small shell and crawled

right into the bigger one!'

Miss Elaina: Boomerific!

Daniel: Hermit crabs look so different without their shells!

Mr. Malik: [reading] 'Once Niko had a new shell,

Hazel craaaawled

out of her shell and into his.'

'Once they had nice, roomy, new shells,

they played together in the sand and rocks!

Niko and Hazel were happy.

The end.'

Thank you for being such good listeners!

Jodi: I liked how they found new shells to live in!

Mr. Malik: Mhm.

They needed new shells to fit their growing bodies.

And now that story time is done,

it's time for a snack.

Kids: Yessss! Jodi: Yippy skippy!

Prince Wednesday: Wait, Mr. Malik?!

Can you please read the story again?

[silly] And again? And again?

Daniel: Yeah! I want to see the pictures again!

Mr. Malik: [chuckling] I'm so glad you like the story.

We can read it again,

after quiet time.

Prince Wednesday: I want to keep looking at the pictures.

Daniel: Me too!

O The Owl: [off screen] Yum!

Katerina: [off screen] Yummy!

Daniel: But...

Jodi/Miss Elaina: Mmmm!

Daniel: ...it's time for snack.

♪ I can stop

Daniel/Prince Wednesday: ♪ when it's time

♪ to do something else.

Prince Wednesday: I can stop...

and put the book down.

Daniel: Come on!

Mr. Malik: I'm proud of you for stopping!

Are you ready for snack time now?

Daniel: Yes! Prince Wednesday: Royally ready!

Miss Elaina: I wonder if hermit crabs like to eat snacks too?

Mr. Malik: They do!

Hermit crabs like fruits and vegetables.

Jodi: Really? O The Owl: Whoa!

Prince Wednesday: Whoa!

Miss Elaina: I love, love, love hermit crabs!

Kids: [giggle]

Daniel/Prince Wednesday/Jodi: ♪ I can stop when it's time

♪ To do something else

doing something, that you didn't want to stop?

It can be hard,

but it feels good to know you can stop

Daniel: [to viewer] Let's go see some Neighbors!

Lyric: Hi, my name is Lyric and today

I'm going to learn about animals

that live in my neighborhood.

Amber: Hi! Chastity: Hello!

Amber: Welcome to the Frick Environmental Center.

Lyric: Thank you!

Amber: I'm Amber. Chastity: And I'm Chastity.

We're naturalist educators here.

Chastity: We've got a lot of different nests here,

we've got a big log,

and this really neat beehive.

All these things are used as homes for animals

in different ways.

Amber: This is a Robin's nest,

and you can tell from the eggshell.

We should go outside and see

what we can find on our own walk.

♪♪

So, we've got these logs right here.

And logs are kind of like apartment buildings,

or hotels for lots of animals.

Whoa.

Oh yeah!

[off screen] Look at this, look at this, look at this!

Look at that!

Amber: We have some little potato bugs!

When they're scared, they roll up into a ball.

[off screen] Oh hi!

Amber: [off screen] Hey, Chastity!

Chastity: How was your walk?

Amber: It was good.

Lyric, do you want to tell her what we saw?

Lyric: We saw slugs,

and millipedes,

and we saw robins

and a lot of other birds!

Chastity: Ooh, you saw a variety of

different animals, that's great!

Lyric: [to viewer] Bye Neighbor!

Daniel: [to viewer] That was so much fun!

♪♪

Daniel: [to viewer] Hi, Neighbor!

Today, I'm playing in the snow with Katerina.

Katerina Kittycat: [happy humming]

Katerina/Daniel: [giggle]

Katerina: [happy humming]

Daniel: [to himself] Scoooooooop!...Scooooooop!

Katerina: [giggles]

Our snow friend is getting so biiiig!

[giggles]

Daniel: It is!

Katerina: [gasp] Here's some eyes...

Daniel: And arms for waving!

[deep, playful voice] Helloooo!

Katerina: [giggles]

And for playing pat-a-cake!

Pat-a-cake! Pat-a-cake!

Pat-a-cake!

[giggling]

Daniel: [giggles]

[giggles]

Daniel:Grr-ific! Katerina: [giggling]

[to Henrietta] Say hi to our snow friend, mommy!

Henrietta Pussycat: [chuckles] Well hello there, snow friend!

Daniel: You need some tiger stripes!

Katerina: And a tutu for you-you! [giggles]

[playful humming]

Henrietta: Daniel, Katerina...

you can play for a little longer,

and then we have to go.

Katerina: All right, mommy.

Daniel: Okay.

Katerina: [giggles] Let's make it bigger!

Daniel: Okay! And biiiger!

Katerina: Ooh, let's add some feet!

Daniel: Yeah!

Mmmph!

Katerina: [giggles] Our snow friend has big feet!

Daniel: [giggles]

[low voice] I have big feet too!

Crunch-crunch!

Katerina: [low voice] Me too!

Crunch-crunch-crunch!

Daniel/Katerina: [giggles]

Daniel: Let's make them even bigger!

Katerina: Okay, meow meow!

Daniel/Katerina: [giggling]

Henrietta: Okay! It's time to go now, meow meow.

Katerina: But...

I want to keep playing,

so we can make our snow friend even bigger!

Daniel: Ooh, yeah!

Henrietta: I know how much you both like

playing in the snow.

But now it's time to stop because we have to go home.

It helps to say...

Henrietta: So let's say goodbye to our snow friend.

Daniel: Bye.

Henrietta: Alright!

I like the sound my feet make in the snow...

[silly low voice] Crunch! Crunch! Cruuuunch!

Daniel/Katerina: [silly voices] Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!

[giggle]

Katerina: I'm a penguin, waddling in the snow!

[giggles]

Daniel: Me too!

But I'm a marching penguin! Katerina: [giggles]

Henrietta: [playfully] C'mon, you marching penguins!

This way!

Katerina: [giggles] I'm waddling fast!

Daniel: [giggles]

[talking slowly] I'm waddling...sloooooooow.

[giggles]

March, march, march!Katerina: Waddle, waddle, waddle! [giggling]

Henrietta: [playfully] Waddle! Waddle! Waddle!

[giggling]

Daniel: [to viewer] Heeeey,

do you want to make-believe with me?

Katerina: I'm a twirling marching penguin, meow meow!

Mom Tiger: Welcome home, my chilly penguin!

[laughs] It's cold out here!

[to Henrietta] Would you and Katerina like to come inside

and join us for dinner?

Henrietta: Oh, that sounds wonderful, meow meow.

Thank you!

Daniel: Yes! Katerina: Hooray, meow meow!

Daniel: [to viewer] Come inside with us!

Ahhhh. It's nice and warm in here.

Mom Tiger: How was your snowy day?

Daniel: Tigertastic!

Katerina: Super snowy!

[giggles]

Mom Tiger: I'm so glad you can stay!

I just need to finish setting the table.

Henrietta: I'll help.

Daniel: C'mon, Katerina! Let's go play!

Katerina: Ok, Daniel! [giggles]

Daniel: Waddle-waddle-waddle!

Katerina: Waddle-Waddle!

Katerina/Daniel: [giggling]

Daniel: Tigey's a penguin too!

Dad Tiger: Do I hear some penguins out here?

Daniel: Sure, Margaret.

Pandy can play!

Katerina Kittycat: Here, Margaret.

Pandy can waddle up this pile of snow.

Katerina/Daniel: Waddle-waddle-waddle.

[babby giggle]

Katerina: You're a little penguin too!

Kids: [giggling]

Henrietta: [humming]

Mom Tiger: Dinner's almost ready.

Margaret, come on, let's go.

Baby Margaret: Mo, mo!

Daniel: We wanna keep playing penguins,

with Margaret, and Tigey and Pandy!

Mom Tiger: I know it's hard to stop playing,

but it's time for dinner.

Daniel: Hmm...

Daniel: It's dinner time, Tigey.

I'll see you later, okay?

Katerina: Bye-bye, Pandy Penguin!

Stay warm inside your fort.

[giggles]

Baby Margaret: Yummy!

Daniel: Thank you!

Katerina: [humming]

Henrietta: Splendid, meow meow.

Katerina: Mmmm, this is deeeeelicious! [giggle]

Dad Tiger: We're so glad you're here for dinner.

Katerina: Me too! Daniel: Me three!

[giggling]

When I blow without the harmonica,

it sounds like this.

[long exhale]

But, when I blow into the harmonica like this...
