CHRIS: Hey, we're here in Asia,

in the largest country on the continent, the legendary China.

Way up in a mountainous forest habitat!

It's us, the Kratt Brothers!

I'm Martin.

I'm Chris.

And we're here in China to check out an animal

that we've always had so many questions about.

BOTH: The red panda!

CHRIS: This is a very rare and mysterious creature,

with only a few thousand left in the wild,

but exactly how many still survive?

Well, one thing's for sure,

and there are no questions about this:

the red panda is one cute creature!

A red panda wrestling match!

Oh, this is awesome.

I never knew red pandas were that playful.

Takedown in the ferns.

Oh, wow!

He's so good in the trees!

Who knew red pandas were such good climbers?

Look at him, sure-footed and agile when he climbs...

And then back down head first.

Impressive!

But what about all the other questions?

Like is a red panda actually a panda, like a giant panda?

Or is it mostly related to a raccoon?

Yeah, what animal family does a red panda belong to?

And why does the red panda always remind me of a lemur?

But we're not in Madagascar, we're in China.

What do red pandas eat?

And why do they have that reddish orange fur

with those white face markings?

We've got a lot of questions about red pandas.

And only a half an hour to answer.

Imagine if we could get up in the trees

and climb with the red pandas.

BOTH: What if?

AVIVA: How long do the bros want to stay in China for?

JIMMY Z: Probably forever.

Let's go find them and ask.

CHRIS: Ha ha, we did it!

MARTIN: Yes!

Did what?

All right, I'm going first, bro.

What're you guys doing?

We're going swimming.

Swimming?

In what water?

I'll show you.

This is Blue Diver, ready for launch.

Okay, Blue Diver, seconds till launch.

Chris, why don't you just walk over there and dive in?

A little red panda.

You're young.

And cute!

Hey, I've got to get back to the g*ng.

They're going to be looking for me.

(Chuckling)

Why are you following me?

You should go to your mom.

Hey, where is your mom?

Are you lost?

Okay, let's do this.

If you're not lost, go home.

If you're lost, follow me.

ZACH: Yes, Donita, I-I know that.

And Zachy, make sure you get me something nice.

And fashionable.

(TV buzzing)

I don't like it any more than you do,

but I have to get Donita a birthday present.

But what?

Let me think.

Well, play my thinking music!

(Thinking music playing)

Hmm, think, think, think.

Ah!

She likes to wear animals as clothes.

Hmm, how about one of those weasel scarves.

What do they call them?

Okay, I'll hack into the Wild Kratts' Tortuga computers

and see what kind of weasels there are.

(Beeping)

Huh?

Hey, you followed me home!

Okay, so I guess this means you're lost.

(Alarm blaring)

Uh-oh, the hacking alarm!

Somebody's trying to break into the Tortuga's computer system!

Hack, hack, hack, hack!

Hackety, hack, hack, hack...

Zach, you know I can see you.

What?

Well, I-I must've dialed the wrong number!

(Nervous laughing)

What's that around your neck?

Oh, this little girl?

Uh, this is--

Is that one of those weasel thingy scarves?

What, a stole?

No, this isn't a stole.

This is--

Never mind, goodbye!

(TV buzzing)

He asks questions, but never sticks around for the answers.

That weasel thingy is called a stole, and I want that one!

Yes, I'll steal that stole!

(Laughing)

"I'll steal a stole!"

(Laughing)

I'm so funny!

And dangerous.

Aah!

Chris?

Hello?

Chris, where are you?

Looked to me like he was flying towards Japan.

(Beeping)

CHRIS: Hey, bro.

What's up dude?

I'm back at the Tortuga.

And look who followed me home.

ALL: Aww!

We'll be right there!

(Door opening)

MARTIN: Wow, bro, you found a red panda?

Well, I didn't really find her, she found me.

And then she followed me home.

AVIVA: Are you sure that's a red panda?

Yeah, it's a lot smaller than a panda.

Looks more like a raccoon.

Or a fox.

Or a weasel.

Or a cat.

So what family of animals

is a red panda most closely related to?

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, I think I know this.

Ah, I got it!

AVIVA: Ahem?

Well, aren't you going to tell us?

Nope.

Heh, you have to guess.

It'll be more fun that way.

Hmm...

Okay, fine.

Well, I'm going with bear, just a small bear.

I'll say the red panda is most closely related

to the giant panda because they both have panda in their name.

Nope, that's a trick.

Giant pandas are in the bear family.

This girl is not a bear.

Oh, I know!

Fox!

She's reddish orange like a fox!

And her face is kind of doglike.

(Sneezing)

MARTIN: Ha, our red panda disagrees.

She is not in the dog family.

Step aside, Jimmy.

I'm going with weasel, a member of the mustelid family.

Red panda totally fits in with a pine marten,

a badger, and a ferret.

Ooh, nice try.

There is a lot of variation in the mustelid family,

from weasels to wolverines to pine martens to otters,

but the red panda doesn't belong there.

What about... raccoons?

And kinkajous, and coatis?

Ah ha!

Yes, I win!

Victory!

MARTIN: A little too quick on the celebrations, bro.

Scientists used to think the red pandas

belonged to this family, but not anymore.

CHRIS: Aww!

Well, what is she then?

Yeah, who's the red panda most closely related to?

Yeah, who?

Okay, I'll show you.

ALL: A red panda?

Yes!

A red panda is in its very own family!

It's in the family Ailuridae.

It has it's own special family made up of just one species:

the red panda!

ALL: Wow!

Awesome!

Yeah, it's a unique species in its own family!

And red pandas are not only special, they are rare.

Only , survive in the wild.

Uh, I just have one other question.

Where'd our red panda go?

(Gasping)

She's gone!

ZACH: Oh, great!

I don't believe it!

How am I supposed to steal their red panda

if they've already lost it?

Those brothers always make things more difficult for me.

Wild Rats!

She was just here a second ago.

Okay, Wild Kratts, let's split up and find...

Oh boy, I didn't even have a chance to give her a name.

Let's split up and find that little lost red panda.

ALL: To the Creature Rescue!

(Gasping)

I found you!

Yes!

Mmm!

Ahh!

BOTH: Ow!

(Snoring)

Aha!

(Snoring)

(Sighing)

Hmm...

Hmm...

(Moaning)

(Sighing)

Why are there bamboo leaves falling on my head?

That's why!

Yeah, found her!

Well, thank you very much!

Roll out, Zachbots!

Oh!

Ow, I didn't mean literally!

Phew! Red pandas are so endangered.

We can't afford to lose any of them.

You were lost, now you're found.

Hey, why don't we call you Lost and Found?

Oh yeah, that's a great name for you!

Lost and Found!

And she found some bamboo to eat.

She really likes the tender tips.

She holds it in her paw like a hand.

You're right, Aviva, but she doesn't have a thumb like we do.

She has a panda's thumb.

The red panda has a special wrist bone that acts like

a thumb and allows the panda to hold bamboo st*lks.

So she has five fingers wrapped around the stalk,

plus a hidden wrist bone in her fur that acts like a thumb.

A panda's thumb.

Well, we found Lost and Found,

and found out what and how Lost and Found eats,

but she's still lost, and her mom has to be found!

Okay, why don't we do this?

Martin and I will go out into the forest to find mom

while the g*ng babysits Lost and Found.

Let's go, bro.

I like this plan.

Mmm! I mean, really like it.

(Laughing)

Perfect!

No brothers means no Creature Powers,

so this will be even easier than I thought.

That little red weasely thingy is as good as mine!

(Laughing)

(Alarm blaring)

The Wild Kratts alarm!

Yoo-hoo!

It's Zach!

Call the Kratt bros! Ah!

(Gasping)

No!

Disable all communications.

What do you think you're doing?

Today, I'm looking to steal a stole.

I want that!

ALL: Huh?

(Snapping fingers)

(Gasping)

No!

The rest of you Zachbots, round them up!

ALL: Whoa, hey!

Oh, I didn't mean literally!

I mean just put them together and put an energy cage over them

so they won't bother us!

ALL: Oof!

(Groaning)

I have to get this little red animal,

that is now going to be a furry scarf,

over to Donita immediately!

(Gasping) Zach, wait!

Oh no!

I forgot my Creature Power Disc Collection!

Don't worry, bro.

We've got mine right here.

Sorry, Martin, but yours aren't very organized.

What are you talking about?

I know where they all are.

Test me.

Okay. Peregrine falcon.

Hmm... cheetah.

Dolphin.

Hey!

Just don't call me disorganized.

Okay, fine, Martin, but I still want to get my collection.

Maybe we'll both need to activate

the same Creature Power at the same time.

Oh, good point.

I'm with ya, dude.

Sorry I can't stay and chat, but I have a present to wrap!

(Laughing)

Aah!

It's Blue Boy and Green Guy!

Retreat, retreat!

BOTH: Zach!

Martin! Chris!

Hi!

Hey Zach, what do you think you're doing

with Lost and Found?

And why have you thrown an energy net over our friends?

Aah!

Form a protective circle!

No!

Form a protective circle with me inside it!

(Evil laughing)

I've got an idea.

I have hidden the little red weasel thingy.

You're way off there, Zach.

She is called a red panda,

and a red panda is in its own unique family, Ailuridae.

Aw, who cares?

Because it's going to be Donita's scarf soon.

No way, Zach.

We are not going to let that happen.

Oh, yeah?

I've hidden it in one of my Zachbots.

Good luck finding it!

Fly, Zachbots, fly!

Back to my plane!

(Gasping)

BOTH: Oof!

(Evil laughing)

Hurry, hurry!

We can't let those bots get away.

Hmm.

Whoa, can't forget this again.

We've got to get out of this cage.

KOKI: How?

Hmm...

Jimmy, if you set your controller to nanohertz,

that will disrupt the sine wave of Zach's energy net.

Okay.

(Grunting)

Phew!

Zap out.

It worked!

KOKI: Hello, Zach!

Remember us?

Uh... (Nervous laughing)

I have an appointment.

Buh-bye!

Whoa!

Sure hope the guys can catch those Zachbots.

They will.

Zachbots, o'clock!

MARTIN: We're gaining on them!

We've got to find the right Zachbot

before they make it back to Zach's plane.

We've got to save Lost and Found!

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Yeah, I'm thinking its time to bring in some Creature Powers.

Golden snub-nosed monkeys, o'clock!

(Slow motion) Activate Creature Power!

Aha!

(Grunting)

Gotcha!

(Grunting)

Another time feet that can grab come in handy!

Empty, argh!

Some other Zachbot has my red panda friend.

Ah!

(Exploding)

Phew, one down.

Gotta intercept another Zachbot and find Lost and Found.

Yes!

My Creature Power discs are all organized and ready to go.

I've just gotta find an animal to touch.

Hmm.

There's a black and white pattern up ahead.

I know who that is.

Giant panda!

(Slow motion) Activate giant panda powers!

This is a new one.

Never driven a buzzbike with Creature Powers before.

Good thing this panda Power Suit comes with a panda thumb.

Designed for holding bamboo st*lks,

it also works for handlebars!

And there's my target.

(Laughing)

Empty.

No red panda here.

Whoa!

C'mon, Chris.

The last one's getting away.

Wahoo!

CHRIS: Whoa!

Yes, yes, you made it!

What took you so long?

(Yelling)

Oof!

(Groaning)

What are you doing?

Get in here!

(Groaning)

(Zapping)

MARTIN: Not if I can help it.

Huh?

Get off my Zachbot!

MARTIN: Grab the arms, Chris!

Okay, Martin.

Brr!

I'm on it!

(Grunting)

Oh, hey, Lost and Found!

We found you!

Aw, did you have a fun ride?

(Chuckling)

ZACH: Ah, no!

Now I've got nothing for Donita's birthday!

And it's all your fault, you, you... Wild Rats!

BOTH: That's Wild Kratts!

(Laughing)

MARTIN: Well, it took all day, but we finally found Mom.

And in the meantime, we learned...

More than enough to get me going on programming red panda powers.

Yeah!

For starters, red pandas are a great looking creature,

with that red orange fur, plus the white face marking

and rings on the tail.

They're a pretty agile tree climber.

Oh, and they like to climb down trees trunks head first.

KOKI: They like to eat lots of bamboo.

And red pandas are very rare,

with only , living in the wild.

And they are in their own unique family, Ailuridae.

So because they are so unique, it might take me a while

to program this particular red panda Power Suit.

(Gasping)

BOTH: Red panda powers?

Oh, don't worry.

We're not going anywhere!

CHRIS: We can wait!

See, I told you they'd want to stay in wild China forever.

(Laughing)

So this is where red pandas like to live,

in a nice forest with plenty of bamboo.

This is the bamboo they prefer.

It's a short, grassy, bushy bamboo.

Red pandas really like the youngest and most tender sh**t.

Then you have the giant pandas

who like the much thicker, much taller bamboo.

Giant pandas can crunch through any part of the bamboo.

In fact, a reason the giant panda has such

a large round head is because they have large jaw muscles

to crunch through bamboo st*lks.

MARTIN: And the crazy thing is bamboo is a grass.

Now this might kind of seem like a grass,

but those huge tree-like bamboo st*lks

that giant pandas like, that's a grass too!

And right here in China, you've got two amazing species,

the red panda and the giant panda,

making their living eating bamboo.

And since bamboo grows in different parts of the world,

you can see different kinds of bamboo eaters

all around the globe.

MARTIN: In Madagascar, we saw something similar,

where the smaller golden bamboo lemur

preferred to eat the more tender sh**t.

CHRIS: But the greater bamboo lemur, who is bigger,

could chew through the toughest st*lks.

But all bamboo eaters have something in common.

The ability to digest bamboo,

and deal with the cyanide poison bamboo has to protect itself.

MARTIN: Digesting bamboo is hard work,

and to do it, you got to take a lot of naps.

(Laughing)

You gotta love the red panda's lounge-y napping pose.

Now red pandas sleep up in the trees, and they sleep a lot.

They can sleep half the day that way,

digesting the bamboo they eat.

But when they get up, red pandas are surprisingly active.

More active than I ever thought.

Red pandas run.

Red pandas climb.

Red pandas wrestle and play.

And then, of course, they fuel up by eating bamboo sh**t.

So those bamboo eaters are a pretty cool bunch.

So keep your eyes peeled

for bamboo eaters all around the world.

Keep on creature adventuring!

We'll see you on the creature trail!
