And walk...

get up.

That's a boy.

Good boy.

Come round.

[Clicks tongue]

Get up.
There's a boy.

And trot.

And walk.

Come. Come. Come.

Get up there.

Stevie:
Mrs. Reg, you speak horse!

Lisa:
That was amazing!

Mrs. Reg:
Ahh, there's nothing
amazing about this.

Come on, come on.

Anyone who loves animals
can do this.

All it takes is patience

and the willingness
to let go of your own eo

and allow your horse
to teach you.

So, anybody else wants
to demonstrate

what they've learned
in our little clinic?

Go on.

Mrs. Reg:
What about you, Kristi?

Veronica:
Go on, Kristi.

I think I'll pass.

Ohh, you might surprise
yourself.

Why don't you just give it
a try, hmm?

Deborah:
Max, this is my friend
Jerry Corman.

He produces a sports shw
for kids.

Right.

Well, it's a shame

you missed most
of the clinic.

Mom's turned the kids

into mini horse whisperers
this weekend.

Well, as Debbie knows,
punctuality's not my thing.

Probably the reason
she dumped me!

Max: Right.

Well, ah, you can catch
the last 5 minutes.

Mrs. Reg:
Good, Kristi.

Look at his ears.

You've got his full attention.

And trot.

And canter.

Mrs. Reg:
It's all right, Kristi.
He trusts you.

You need to show him
it's OK.

Come on,
you can do it.

Get up.

Comanche won't jump
without a rider.

[Gasping]

Good girl.

Who would've
thought Kristi was
a horse whisperer?

[Laughs]

Kristi,

I'm Jerry Corman.
A TV producer.

You've probably caught
my show, "Kids' Sports Live."

No.

Deborah:
He was very impressed,

watching you
with Comanche today.

You're a real natural.

So, how would you
like to star

in an upcoming segment:

Kristi Cavanaugh,
junior horse whisperer.

You wanna do a show
about me?

Jerry:
We'll talk. Debbie?

Yeah.

Uh, you're gonna be
on TV?

Yeah. I'm gonna make
a total fool of myself!

No, you won't.

Today was a fluke!

I don't know what
I was doing out there!

I don't speak horse.

Well,
if you need some help--

Good idea.

I'll ask
the Saddle Club.

[Sighs]

Kristi:
Come on, you guys know
more about horses

than any of the other
riders here.

Flattery's good.
Keep going.

I saw what you did with
Belle and Starlight.

And even Prancer,

she's been way better

since you've been
working with her.

True. But why
would we help you?

'Cause the show's
gonna be live

and I don't know
what I'm doing!

Have you told
Jerry that?

Are you crazy?

Give up a chance
to be on TV?

[Sighs]
We'll help you.

What? Why?

Because if Kristi's
going to be

representing Pine Hollo,

I don't want her making
the rest of us look dumb.

Good point.

Can't we make her
beg some more?

No.

Come on...

come on.

Go for it!

Kristi:
I've never really been good
at stuff like this before.

What are you
talking about?

Jerry chose you
for the show!

There's no way Comanche's
gonna go over that puddle.

He's scared of them.

Come on, Comanche,
follow me.

Come on.

[Sighs]

See?

Lisa:
Remember what we told you.

Carole:
Show him there's nothing
to be afraid of.

[Snorting]

It's OK.
You can trust me.

Come on.

[Snorting]

I don't believe it!

That's it, Kristi!

I'm a horse whisperer.

Jerry:
I never thought I'd see you
date a farmer.

Max is an equestrian!

Jerry: Well, overalls,
rubber boots, hay...

what's the difference?

Look, seriously,
I'm glad you're so happ.

I just don't think
I could ever do it,

settle down like this.

I guess travel's
too important to me.

[Knocking]

Veronica:
Jerry?

Hi. I'm Veronica Di Angelo.

I just love your show.
I watch it all the time.

Well,
that's good to hear.

What you need
is a really good host.

Well, I think we've
got enough volunteers.

Lisa's offered to write
the script

and Stevie's working
with Comanche, so...

And Carole's helping Kristi.
Yeah, I know.

But you haven't picked
a host yet, right?

No, uh...

Good.
Because it's so important

to get the right person.

Someone who's smart,
attractive, talented,

and of course,

someone who's got experience
in front of the camera.

Ideally--

I had a part
in the Skye Ransom movie

that was filmed here.

Really.

And I've been riding
at Pine Hollow for years,

much longer than Kristi.

You need me for this,
Mr. Corman.

Veronica, I like
your persistence.

Welcome aboard.

Really?!

Um, ah, thank you.

I won't let you down.

Great.

You have no idea

what you just got
yourself into.

OK.

What does it mean
when a horse is high tailing?

It's excited

and probably means
it's a schooled dressage horse.

Good!

Stevie:
What does it mean

when a horse's ears
are laid back?

Kristi:
That's easy.

Leave me alone,
I don't wanna be here,

I'm tired,
or I'm bored.

My show is gonna be so good.

I'll probably get hired
to do this professionally.

[Chuckling]

Veronica:
You take one clinic
with Mrs. Reg

and suddenly
you're an expert?

What's her problem?

Dime!

Are you OK?

No! He keeps
trying to bite me!

He's trying to communicate
with you.

You're obviously doing
something wrong.

No. Watch!

[Dime snorts]

See?
He tried to bite me!

Kristi:
That's your problem!

He's freaked!

And who wouldn't be?

The way you
sneak up on him,

that has to be

the scariest thing
I've ever seen.

You'll get better
results with patience
and understanding

than you will with fear.

Oh, sounds
like we've got

a star horse whisperer
amongst us.

You practicing for
your television debut?

I was just telling
Melanie

what you taught me
in the clinic.

Hmm.

Never mind.

Phone:
Message 5 deleted.

Sorry about that.

Turn your phone off
for a few hours

and the messages
just keep piling up.

I know what you mean.

I envy you, Max,

all this peace and quiet,

away from the rat race.

Quite a life
you've got out here.

So, what's your secret?

My secret?

The Debbie I knew
was too restless.

She would've taken one
look at this place

and run for the safety
of the urban jungle.

See, when we were dating,

the closest we got
to the country life

was barbecuing on the rooftop
patio of her condo.

Ha ha ha! Really.

Hmm.

Biggest mistake I ever made
was letting her go.

[Phone rings]

Ah, never ends.

Jerry Corman.

Hey, hey!

Ah, yeah, we can do that,
no problem.

This show's gonna be
so great!

I know.

Who would've thought Kristi
was actually human?

I think it's 'cause
she's spending more time

around horses.

And Veronica less.

I know.

I haven't seen
them together

since Kristi
got this TV thing.

Lisa:
I can't wait to show Kristi

some of these ideas
for the script.

Do you know they used
to blow in a horse's ear

and that's where the term
horse whisperer came from?

So why isn't it called
horseblower?

Kristi:
Hey, Stevie, you got
a curry comb I can use?

Lisa:
Kristi, I wrote down soe
ideas for the script.

Wanna have a look?

I'm supposed to be
training Comanche.

I can't do everything.

It'll only take
a minute.

Can't you do better
than this?

Melanie:
[Screams]

Lisa:
You OK?

Melanie:
No!

He threw me off on purpose!

Kristi:
It's OK. Relax.
I'm here.

Melanie:
I think he was trying
to talk to me.

Yeah, he was trying
to tell you

that you don't know
what you're doing.

Lisa:
Kristi!

It wasn't Melanie's faul!

Oh, like you know anythi.

Maybe you can share your lame
script ideas with Melanie

and make your own little show.

I'm the one who's gonna
be on TV, remember?

Ahh...[Groans]

Kristi:
Lisa!

Lisa, I want to talk to you!

What is it now?

I've read the new material

and it doesn't work
for me on any level.

You didn't even explain
my training method.

Your training method?

Comanche didn't
train himself.

Which is obviously what you
want the world to believe.

I want the rewritten pages
in 15 minutes.

[Scoffs]

Kristi:
What's with you people?
Move it!

She thinks she
knows everything.

We've created a monster.

Veronica:
Oh, I'm glad I found you alone.

I just wanted to tell yu
how sorry I am

that a friend of mine--

well, I thought
she was a friend,

is being so uppity.

Carole:
That's OK, Veronica.

It's not your fault.

Well, perhaps it is.

I mean, I tried to teach
her some of my style,

but she can't handle it,

and now she's become
a prima donna.

Pathetic, isn't it?

[Lisa snickers]

No one's blaming you,
Veronica.

You're really being
very nice about it.

In fact, you are very nice,
if very ordinary girls.

I don't know why
we don't get along bette.

There've been faults
on both sides.

Veronica:
We have a lot in common.

A love of horses,
a talent for riding.

[Carole laughs]

You've got absolutely
no clothes sense,

but that can be learnt.

We should talk
about this again.

[Laughing]

[Horse whinnies]

who's biting!

Guess life on the farm's
all work and no play, huh?

Kristi:
Jerry, I need to speak to you
straight away.

Jerry:
What is it?

Kristi:
There's something
I need to show you.

I want to feature Dime
instead of Comanche in here.

I want to show my viewers

how to tack up
a troubled pony.

Your viewers?

Kristi:
It's kind of complicate,

but in layman's terms,

Dime's been mishandled,

so he's got some
serious issues.

You mean bucking?

And biting.

Melanie can't even get close
to him with a saddle.

It'll be way more challenging
than working with Comanche.
