♪ On a fabulous journey today ♪

Both: he's coming!

- ♪ Now he's arrived ♪

♪ In the thinga-ma-jigger ♪

♪ The thing that he drives ♪

♪ He's a cat,
and he's oodles of fun ♪

♪ With his hairy helpers ♪

♪ Thing two and thing one ♪
- ta-da!

- Whoo-hoo!

♪ ♪

- Whoa!

- Whoo-hoo!

[All cheering]

- Whoa!

All: ♪ it's the cat in the hat ♪

- ♪ All of our adventures
start like that ♪

♪ Wherever you're going,
wherever you're at ♪

♪ The cat in the hat
knows a lot about ♪

All: ♪ he knows a lot about ♪

♪ He knows a lot about ♪

[Laughter]

- Our sleepover tent
looks great, nick.

- It's like we're camping out
in the wild jungle, sally.

- Let's go inside before
the ferocious lions see us.

- Or the scary giant gorillas.

- [Laughs]

- I'm sleepy after exploring
all that jungle.

- Ah. Me too.

But it's--it's not very comfy
in here.

- Yeah, the floor's too hard.

- A hard floor is such a bore.

- It's the cat.
- The cat in the hat.

- You need to make your bed
in a different way.

- How?

- My friend gordon the gorilla

Lives in the jungles
of twisty-misty mountain.

He knows
all about building beds.

- Is he a giant, scary gorilla?

- Gordon? No, he's a real softy,
just like his bed.

- Can we go meet him
in the jungle?

- Of course you can.

Your mother will not mind at all
if you do.

- Mom, can you hear me?

- Loud and clear.

- Can sally and I
go to twisty-misty mountain

To meet a gorilla and learn
how to make comfy beds?

- [Laughs]

The twisty-misty mountain?

Roger that.

Have fun,
but don't go ape on me.

[Laughs]
over.

- I won't.

Thanks, mom.

Over and out.

Both: we can go.

We can go!

- I know. I know!

To the thinga-ma-jigger.

- The only beds fish need
are river beds.

[Laughs]
- is that where you sleep, fish?

- Me? No.
I float in the water like this.

- Wow.

You don't even need a pillow.

- Buckle up.
[Horn honks]

Flip the jigger-ma-whizzer.
- [Laughs]

- [Laughs]

[Horn honks]

[Instruments play]

Pop!

- Isn't this fun?

- Yippee!
- Yahoo!

- ♪ Here we go, go, go,

♪ The thinga-ma-jigger
is up and away ♪

Both: ♪ go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ We're flying
with the cat in the hat today ♪

- ♪ On a mountain that's misty,
we hope to see ♪

♪ How a gorilla makes beds
for you and for me ♪

All: ♪ here we go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ Go, go, go, go, go ♪

♪ ♪

[Horn honks]

- Where are we, cat?
- I don't know.

I can't see a thing
in all this mist.

- [Gasps]
wait!

I can see the mountain!
- Twisty-misty mountain.

- Then let's go land, shall we?

Both: yay!

- Where's gordon?

- He'll be here any minute.

- Are you sure?

- Sure, I'm sure.

Any moment.

Now!

- [Grunting]
- whoa.

- [Grunting]

- Gordon, how are you?

- Huh?
Cat, is that you?

- It is, and I brought
my friends nick and sally.

Nick? Sally?

- You looked really scary.

- Loud and scary.

- Oh!
[Laughs]

I only do it
to scare away strangers.

If you're cat's friends,

I'll give you
a big gorilla-style hello.

- Hello.
- Hi.

- [Grunting]
both: huh?

- [Hooting]

- Oh, good work, junior.

Nice [grunts].
[Laughs]

- Oh, thanks, dad.

So do you think
I'm scary like my dad?

[Both laugh]
yes, very scary.

- Oh, me, oh, my.

Is it safe to come out now?

- See, dad?
They say I'm scary.

- Well, you are, son.

- Why don't you try to be scary
too, like this?

[Grunts]

[Both grunting]

- Very good.

- Whoo! Whoo!

[Coughing]

I need to lie down
on a comfy bed.

- [Laughs]

- Oh, that's why we're here,
to ask you how to make a bed.

- A comfortable place to sleep.

- Oh, I don't sleep in a bed.
I sleep in a nest.

- A nest?

- We thought only birds
made nests.

- Gorillas do too.

Dad built his nest
on the ground.

My dad's
the best nest builder ever.

- Oh, that's my boy.

- I know!
They can help us make our nests.

Can they, dad? Can they?

- Sure.

- We'd love to.
- Yes.

- We're your nest building crew.

Whoo!
[Coughs]

I must stop doing that.

[Laughter]

- Follow me.

We have to get them finished

Before the sun goes down.

- My mom will be back then.

She's gone for a jungle walk.

- Ohh.

[Chuckles]

This is a good spot
to build a nest.

Plenty of room.

A few trees around.

- And lots of leaves
and twigs to build with.

- You got that right, junior.

Let's get started.
[Grunts]

Now copy me.

- Okay.

- Now scoop some of the leaves
up around you,

Nice and tight.

[Both grunting]

- Oh.

- This is cool.

- Like this?
- Ooh, nice work there.

- Maybe I overdid the leaves,
just a tad.

[Laughter]

- I got twigs, dad.

- [Laughs]
that's good, son.

Now everyone collect more twigs,
like junior.

- Okay.

Hey, I can see plenty
around here.

[Laughs]

- [Laughs]
this is fun.

- This, I think,
could take all day.

- Now make the pile
of twigs flat.

Give it a good pat, like this.
[Grunts]

Both: pat, pat, pat the pile.
- Great.

Now roll around
to get a great shape.

[Grunts]

Both:
roll, roll around the pile.

- Ready to roll.

Wow! Oh, ouch.

Who left this tree here?

[Laughter]
- oh, cat.

- Oh, splendid nests, you two.

- Thanks.
[Laughs]

- Hey, this is really comfy.

- [Sighs]

The leaves make it fluffy
and soft.

- I told you my dad was
the best nest builder ever.

- [Chuckles]
that's my boy.

Now we need to make
the other nest.

- Before it gets dark
and mom comes home.

- Why do you need two nests?

- Mom and the kids like
to sleep up there in the tree.

- Cool.

- What about you?

Don't you like sleeping
in a tree?

- [Laughs]

Dad's too heavy
to sleep in a tree.

[Grunting]

He breaks the branches
and boom!

Falls out.
- Oh, my.

- That's why I sleep
on my own personal nest,

Right here on the ground.

- I'll build the tree nest, dad.

Nick and sally can help.

- We'll build
the best tree nest ever.

- And I'll build a tree nest
that's better than best.

- [Laughs]

Sounds like we have
a nest building contest.

All: yay!
- Whoo-hoo!

- Three against one?

Well, that's not fair.

Hmm, if building a tree nest
is what you want done,

Then you must call
thing two and thing one.

[Whistles]

- Hello.
[Both muttering]

- Cat, choose your branch.

- Hm, what about that one?

- Uh-huh.
[Both straining]

- How are we gonna climb up
to our branch?

- Hop on my back,
and I'll swing you up.

- Cool.

[Both grunt]

- These branches
are easy to bend.

That gives our nest
a good start.

- I got more twigs and leaves.

- [Laughs]
that's my boy!

[Both grunting]

- Ah.
Gee, I like hard work.

I could watch it all day.

- Uh, that ought to go here.
- Oh, ow, no, no, no.

- Oops, sorry.

- We're getting great
at building gorilla nests.

- Yeah, we sure are.

- Remember to flatten it down

And make sure
it's strong and safe.

- Like this.
Whoo-hoo!

Jump, jump, jump.

All: jump, jump, jump.

- [Laughs]
good work.

Both: ta-da!

- Oh, goody.

I'm gonna test my nest.
[Laughs]

It is the best.

[Sighs]

[Nest creaking]

[Screams]

Both: uh-oh.
- Ouch.

I'll build a nest on the ground
like gordon's next time.

- [Sighs]

This is so comfy.

- And snuggly.

- Well, that looks like a mighty
fine nest you've built up there.

- [Laughs]
mom's back.

- Well, we've had
some great help

From nick and sally over here.

- Thank you all.

- Ooh, goo.
- That's my sister.

- Ah, coochie, coochie, coo.
- [Sputters]

- Ah! How utterly adorable.

[Laughter]

- Come along, junior, time
to go to your nest and sleep.

- Bye.
- Bye.

- Good-bye, everyone.
- Bye-bye.

Both: bye.

- I guess it's time
for us to go home too.

- To our own nests.

It's really quite clever--
I'm sure you'll agree--

How a gorilla builds a nest
on the ground and in a tree.

Their nests are such comfy,
warm, cozy beds

Made from twigs and leaves,

All soft for their heads.

- I'm building
my own gorilla nest

Out of pillows and blankets.

[Sighs]
- me too.

[Sighs]

- Everyone cozy and comfy?

Oh.

[Both snoring]

- Building a gorilla's nest
is simply the best.

Shh.

- Hi, kids.

I have a very hard question
for you today.

Some cats like to purr.

Do you know what other animal
can also purr?

Is it a whale,

Or is it a snake,

Or is it an elephant?

So which of these animals
can purr like a kitty cat?

[Animal purring]

Did you say the elephant?

That's right!

Elephants purr when
they say hello to each other.

Next time,
I'll stump you for sure.

Both: time to take a picture
with our snap-a-rama cameras.

- I'll take the picture.

- And I'll guess what it is.

Wow, it looks like green straws.

Hm, it looks like a leaf.

- You're right, nick.

It's a maple leaf.

- But what are all those lines?

- Those are called veins.

Some of them carry food
and water to the leaf

So it grows big and healthy.

- Neat, sally.

[Laughter]

- Look yonder, the mighty castle
in the tree, queen sally.

- We're almost there, sir nick.

- Only one thing stands
in our way.

- The scary dragon.

- Roar!
- Oh.

- Oh, it sounds angry.

- How can we get past?

- You need a dragon catcher.

[Yelping]

- It's the cat.
- The cat in the hat.

- You mean the catcher
in the hat.

Hmm.
Are you sure this is a dragon?

- No, it's my pink pony.

- We had to pretend
because we don't have a dragon.

- What? No dragon to guard
the mighty castle in the tree?

How can that be?

We need to find a real dragon
right now.

- There aren't any real dragons,
cat.

- Only make believe ones.

- Then maybe one of you
should be a dragon.

- Me! Me!

I want to be a dragon.

Grrr. Roar!

- [Yelps]
that's scary.

- But not scary enough
to stop sir nick.

- How can I be
more like a dragon, cat?

- Well, I know some lizards
who look oh, so like dragons.

Maybe they can give you
some tips?

- Can we meet them?

- You can.

Your mother will not mind at all
if you do.

- [Laughs]

- [Humming]

- Mom, can we go with the cat

- Then buckle up.
[Horn honks]

Flip the jigger-ma-whizzer.
- [Laughs]

- Isn't this fun?

- First off, the rainforest
of alcudo solay,

Home to my friend ignacio
the green iguana.

- Iguana?
Is that a kind of lizard?

- It is.

A green iguana is a lizard
that lives in a tree.

- Isn't the thinga-ma-jigger
too big to fit in a tree?

- You're right.

Press the shrinkamadoodle,
sally.

[Shrinkamadoodle clangs]
- [laughs]

- What does ignacio
look like, cat?

- He's green, scaly,
and a lot like a dragon.

- [Gasps]
wow, is that him?

He does look just like a dragon.

- Cool.

- Hey, hey, hey, hey.

Hey, what's going on?

This is my branch, buddy.

Hey, you get off of my tree.
[Both gasp]

- Ignacio, it's me, the cat.

- Oh, cat.

Oh, I'm sorry.

I thought someone was trying
to take my sun spot.

- I'd never do that.

Nor would my friends sally
and nick.

- Hi, ignacio.

You scared us.

- That was the idea.

I love to lie in the sun,

And I don't want anyone
else taking my spot.

- Your spikes are amazing.

- And that thing
around your neck too.

- My dewlap. You like it?

- What's a dewlap?

- What's a dewlap?

It's a big flap of skin
that goes around your neck

And under your chin.

- And it makes me
look scary too.

- If I'm going to be a dragon,
I want a dewlap.

- And spikes too.

- Well, isn't it lucky
I brought some along?

Now you can both be a dragon.

Try them on.
- Yeah!

Thanks, cat.

- Now I'll show you
how to look really scary.

[Laughs]
nice, I like that.

But make yourself look big.

Stick those spikes up.

Push that dewlap out.

- Like this?

- Oh, excellent.

You look just like me.

- Let's try them out.

- This is my branch.

- And this is my sun spot.

- Oh, my.

That was scary.

- Oh, you say the nicest things.

- You've given us
some great dragon ideas.

Time to move on to stop
number two and more dragon ideas

[Grunts]

- ♪ Our quest is to be
like a dragon ♪

♪ What is it that we need? ♪

- ♪ Spikes ♪
- ♪ a dewlap ♪

- ♪ Yes, that's right,
spikes and a dewlap indeed ♪

All: ♪ if we're going
to be dragons today ♪

♪ Spikes and a dewlap
are what we need ♪

- Time to drop in
on my friend draco--

That's if he doesn't drop in
on us first.

- Is draco like a dragon?

- Oh, a very small dragon.

So why don't we shrink down
some more?

Press the super
duper shrinkamadoodle.

- [Laughs]
[horn honks]

Oh, draco, where are you?

- Coming right over, cat.
Hoo!

[Laughs]

- Whoa! You can fly.

- I'm a flying lizard.

Of course I can fly.

- If I'm going to be a dragon,

I've got to have wings
like draco.

- Fine, lizard wings
coming right up.

Both: hooray!

- Oh, they're just like mine.

Open. Close. Open. Close.
You try.

Both: open. Close.

Open. Close.

- Oh, that's good.

- Can we try flying?

- Give me a minute.

High up in a tree,
wearing lizard wings, yahoo.

If you want to stay safe,
call thing one and thing two.

[Whistles]

Both: ta-da!

- Whoa.

Yahoo!
- Ooh! Yeah!

- Hew-da-doo.

- Thank you, things.

Okay, open. Yahoo!

Both: whoa!

- I'm flying!
Both: cool!

- Let's go, everyone. Open.

[Laughs]

Both: open.
Whee!

- We're flying.

- Yay!

[Laughter]

Both: yahoo!

- Wings are a great dragon idea.

- We should be going.

We have one more stop to make.

- Can you show us how to fly up
to the thinga-ma-jigger?

- Fly up?
Oh, I can't fly up.

I can only fly down.

- Huh? Then how do you go up?

- Well, I go up by climbing,
of course.

- That's a long way.

- Lucky for us
we can call our ride.

[Whistles]

Both: hello. Whoo!

- Thanks, things.

Both: uh-huh. Bye-bye.

- Thanks, draco.
- Bye.

- Fly by any time.

- ♪ Our quest is to be
like a dragon ♪

♪ As scary as can be ♪

♪ To be like a dragon,
a dragon, a dragon ♪

♪ What is it that we need? ♪

Both: ♪ fantastic wings ♪

- ♪ Yes, that's right ♪

- Next stop, the island
of kibble-ki-yay

To meet
my lizard friend kimora.

She's a komodo dragon.

- A dragon?
Dragons breathe fire.

I'll look after you.

Hmm.
[Sputters]

[Laughter]

Very funny.
Ha, ha.

[Laughter]

- Kimora, where are you?

- I don't see her.

[Low thudding]

- Ooh, what's that?

- It sounds big.

- Of course.

Komodo dragons are the biggest
lizards in the world.

- Too bad we forgot
to press the bigga-ma-boodle.

We're teeny weeny.

- [Laughs]

[Both gasp]

- Kimora is really big.

- And so is her tongue.

Both: whoa!
- Hey.

- Cat, it's you.

I recognize the smell
of that hat.

- And I recognize
that wiggly tongue.

- It looks like fire
coming out of her mouth.

Your tongue is awesome.

- Why, thank you.

I use it for smelling too.

- If I'm going to be a dragon,

I have to have a tongue
like that.

- No need to ask.

I have dragon tongues
right here.

Both: yay!

[Noisemakers toot]

[Laughter]

- Just like mine.

- Komodo dragon tongues
are cool.

[Noisemakers toot]

- Too bad
we can't smell with them too.

- Come back some other time
and I'll give you a lesson.

Ta-ta! See you later.

Both: we will.

[Low thudding]

- ♪ Our quest is to be
like a dragon ♪

♪ As scary as can be ♪

♪ What is it that we need? ♪

Both: ♪ a wiggly tongue ♪

- ♪ Oh, yes, that's right,
a wiggly tongue indeed ♪

is what we'll need ♪

[Laughter]

- Today we met lizards

Whose tongue, wings, and spikes
make a great scary dragon.

I see it.
Oh, yikes!

Both: grrrr! Roar!

- Where are sir nick
and queen sally?

I need their help.

- The dragon gobbled them up.

Now it's coming for you.

- Grr!
- Roar!

[Both roaring]
- I'm a dragon.

- I'm gonna get you.
- [Yelping]

[Laughter]

- Welcome to hat chat.

- Today we're going to interview
a squid and an octopus.

- But which is which?

- [Laughs]

You can tell us
apart quite easily.

- Hmm, you both have eight arms.

- Oh, that's true,

But I'm a squid, so I also
have these two tentacles here.

They help me to catch my food.

An octopus doesn't have these.

- But I bet you
both swim the same.

- When we want to swim fast,

We can both move by sucking
water into this pocket here,

Then sh**ting it out super fast.

Watch.

[Laughs]

- But when I want to take
my time,

I can swim using
these two fins here.

- Wow, I guess you two
aren't the same at all.

- Thanks for the interview.
- Bye.

- Bye-bye.

- Come fly with the cat,
way up high into space.

Our planet's called earth.
We live in this place.

There are eight different
planets that circle the sun,

So let's have some fun and zoom
past every one.

The smallest is mercury.

Cloudy venus nearby.

Then earth with its oceans
and mountains so high.

After earth, then comes mars,
a sight to behold.

But mars, the red planet,
is terribly cold.

The four other planets
are big balls of gas,

Giant jupiter
being the largest we'll pass.

Saturn has rings,
so let's look at it twice.

Rings formed by thousands
of small chunks of ice.

Uranus and neptune
are farthest away.

Now we passed every planet
on this space trip today.

Hooray!

♪ Everybody get up ♪

♪ Come on
and get ready to move ♪

Both:
♪ move, move, ready to move ♪

- ♪ You have 600 muscles ♪

♪ That help
you run, jump, and groove ♪

Both: ♪ groove, groove,
jump and groove ♪

- ♪ Like your quad muscles
on the front of your thighs ♪

♪ Help you squat down low
and leap up high ♪

- Quadriceps muscles?
- Right here. Look at me jump.

- ♪ We're gonna run real fast,
get your leg muscles moving ♪

♪ Swing your arms,
flex your deltoids too ♪

♪ The muscles in your body help
you do everything you do ♪

- Deltoids?
- These muscles here.

- ♪ The biceps help you
throw a ball ♪

♪ Lift things over your head
and feel ten feet tall ♪

- Let's see your biceps, nick.
- [Grunts]

- ♪ We're gonna jump
up and down ♪

♪ Get your heart muscle
b*ating ♪

♪ It's working all the time
pumping blood through you ♪

♪ The muscles in your body help
you do everything you do ♪

Both: ♪ do, do,
everything you do ♪

- ♪ The muscles in your body
help you do everything you do ♪

Both: time to take a picture
with our snap-o-rama cameras.

- I'll take the picture.

- And I'll guess what it is.

- Take a guess.

- Wow! It looks like jewels.

Did you find
a pirate's treasure?

No, it looks like sand.

- You're right, nick.

- But what were
all those jewels I saw?

- Those weren't jewels,

They're really tiny pieces
of rock and shells.

That's what sand is made of.

- That's so cool, sally.

[Laughter]

[Music playing]
