Both: he's coming!

♪ In the thinga-ma-jigger ♪

♪ The thing that he drives ♪

♪ He's a cat,
and he's oodles of fun ♪

♪ With his hairy helpers ♪

♪ Thing two and thing one ♪
- ta-da!

- Whoo-hoo!

- Whoa!

- Whoo-hoo!

[All cheering]

- Whoa!

All: ♪ it's the cat in the hat ♪

- ♪ All of our adventures
start like that ♪

♪ Wherever you're going,
wherever you're at ♪

♪ The cat in the hat
knows a lot about ♪

All: ♪ he knows a lot about ♪

[Laughter]

- [Laughs]

- Your dad's shoes are so cool,
sally.

Whoa. Ugh.

[Laughter]

But they're too big
for walking in.

- Watch me, nick.

I'm dancing in my mom's shoes.

♪ La-la-la ♪

Ooh.
[Laughter]

These high heels
aren't meant for dancing either.

- Oh, my.

I see you two have funny feet
problems.

- It's the cat.
- The cat in the hat.

- [Laughs]
your feet are the wrong shape.

- But everyone has the same
shaped feet.

- Not at all.

There are all kinds
of different shaped feet.

Flat feet, floppy feet,
very, very funny feet.

[Laughter]

- What about big, flat,
floppy, funny feet?

- Hmm,
well, I have lots of friends

Whose feet come in all kinds
of different shapes and sizes.

We could go to the jungle
of bingle-bungle-boo

And visit them.

- Yay.

- Your mother will not
mind at all if you do.

- [Laughs]

Mom, can nick and I go with
the cat to the jungle

Of bingle-bungle-boo
to see different feet?

- The jungle
of bingle-bungle-boo

To see different feet?

Sure, but remember to hotfoot it
back soon.

- We will.

Both: we can go! We can go!

- I know. I know.

To the thinga-ma-jigger.

We're off to see all kinds
of fun feet.

- Well, I'm just happy
with my fun, fishy fins.

[Laughter]

- Buckle up.
[Horn honks]

Flip the jigger-ma-whizzer.
- [Laughs]

- [Laughs]

[Horn honks]

[Instruments play]

[Pop]

- Isn't this fun?

- Yippee!
- Yahoo!

- ♪ Here we go, go, go,

♪ The thinga-ma-jigger

♪ We're flying
with the cat in the hat today ♪

- ♪ Deep in the jungle
are friends who we'll meet ♪

♪ They're going to show us
all kinds of feet ♪

All: ♪ here we go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ Go, go, go, go, go ♪

[Horn honks]

- We need to be a little smaller
to meet my friends.

Press the shrinkamadoodle,
sally.

Down we go to bingle-bungle-boo.

Both: yay.

- This is just the kind of place
to find my friend, emily.

She's a teal.

- Huh? A teal?

- A teal is the same as a duck,
just a different name.

That's all.
- Quack.

- There she is.

- Quack. Hi, cat.

- Hello, emily.

These are my friends,
sally and nick.

Both: hi.

- Glad to meet you.

- Emily has the most
fabulous feet.

Show them, emily.

- My feet, really?

[Laughs]
oh.

- Wow. They're flat.

- And wide.

- Perfect for swimming.

These big, flat feet
push the water right along.

- We're great swimmers too.
- Really?

Well, I was just going
for my morning swim.

Why don't you come along?

- We would love to.
- Yeah.

- Lucky I brought swimsuits
and vesta-ma-bobbers.

- Emily, how about we race you
to the other side?

- That would be fun.
- Why not?

- Oh, I do love races,
especially swimming races.

[Laughs]

- Hey, you didn't say go.

[Laughter]

- I'll give you a head start.

[All grunting]

- Quack-quack.

Bye. Quack.

- Hey.

- Emily's winning.

- Ugh.
Boy, I'm all swum out.

- Emily swims much faster
than us.

- I told you so.

It's because I've got
perfect feet for swimming.

- If only we had feet
like yours, emily.

- Why,
I think I can arrange that.

- Now we've got feet
just like emily's.

- That's what I call great feet.

- Let's start over.

First one to that tree right
ahead wins the race.

All: yay.

- Get ready for a fast,
flipper-fun race.

Three, two, one, go.

[Together]
whoo-hoo!

- Here I come.

- Make way for nick.

- Ugh. Huh?
Oops, wrong way.

- Hey, you guys are doing great.

- Our flippers help us swim
so much faster.

- That's because your feet
are big and wide.

- So we can push the water.

- Exactly.

[Laughter]

- Whoo-hoo.
We all won.

- You are really fast swimmers.

- It's easy with our new flippy,
flat feet.

- Look out!
No brakes!

Who put this rock here?

[Laughter]

- Hey.
Hi, cat.

Nice of you to drop by.

- It's mikey,
the ring-tailed lemur.

- Wow. His tail is so cool.
- Hi.

- Mikey, these are my friends,
sally and nick.

- And they're great swimmers.

- Because we have
the right feet...

Both: for the right job.

- [Laughs]
oh.

I'm off to finish
my morning swim.

[Together]
bye, emily.

- Mikey's got cool feet too.

- We'd love to see them.

- I'll be right down.

These feet are great
for climbing

And holding onto branches.

- Wait a second.

Your feet look like my hands.

- Yeah,
you have a thumb on your foot.

- It's like you have four hands.

- And with these feet,
I can do this.

♪ Do-do-do-do-do ♪

♪ Hm-hm-hm ♪

- Wow, that was great climbing,
mikey.

- I wish we could climb
like that.

- It's so lucky

I have just the thing
for climbing trees like mikey.

Both: yeah, mikey feet.

- Just do as I do.

- [Grunting]

This is great, mikey.

- My new feet
can really grip the branch,

Thanks to the thumbs
on our feet.

- Oh, ahh, ahh, oh, ahh.
Ahh!

Why didn't I use mikey feet?

It's such a long way to fall.

If you plan to climb high
and have lots of fun,

Better play safe and call
thing two and thing one.

[Whistles]

- Hello. Do-do-do.

- Hello. Oh!

- B-r-r-do-do-do

- Oops. Sorry.

- Hey. Do-do-do-do-do.

- [Mumbling]

[Laughter]

- Want to see something
really cool?

- Yeah.
- Uh-huh.

- [Laughs]

Look, no hands, just feet.

- Wow, look at me.

- I'm upside down too.

- These feet are great
for holding on.

- The right feet...

Both: for the right job.

- That's why ring-tailed lemurs
are great climbers.

- Oh, wow, good,
but not as good as me.

- Whoa.

Who said that?

- It's me, greg.
Hi, cat.

- It's greg, greg the gecko.

- You want to see some climbing?

Now,
this is what I call climbing.

Good, huh?
- Wow.

- Nice climbing, greg,
but I'm off to grab some lunch.

- Okay, mikey, catch you later.

[Together] bye, mikey.
Bye-bye.

- How did you climb like that?

- It looks like you were stuck
to the tree.

- May I ask what glue you use?

- The secret's in the feet.

- We may need a closer look.

- I see tiny hairs.

- Whoa, lots of tiny hairs.

- They help me grip things
when I climb.

Watch.

- It looks like it's sticking.

- I have loads
of hairs on my feet.

Maybe I can stick like greg.

Hmm, I must have the wrong type
of hair.

- Hey, cat,
can we have feet just like greg?

- Anything's possible
with the cat in the hat.

- Look, nick, I'm on the tree
and not falling.

- It's these amazing,
new hairy gecko feet.

- Ready to climb to the top?

Both: sure.

- Right behind you.

- Uh, it's not working.

- You're trying to pick up
your whole foot at once.

Watch me.
- Okay.

- Like this:
peel and press.

Both: peel and press.

- Wow, it's just like
peeling sticky tape.

- Okay, you've got the style;
now let's go for speed.

[Laughter]

- Wahoo.

I'm climbing like greg.

- Me too.

- Ugh, having a little
trouble here.

- Peel and press, cat.

Peel and press.

- Hey,
I think I'm getting it now.

- It's easy
when you have gecko feet.

- All you need
is the right feet...

Both: for the right job.

- Thanks, greg.

- Any time.

[Together]

- Well, did you find
any fun feet?

- Flat feet, grippy feet...

- And very, very sticky feet.

[Laughter]

- We've seen different feet
that are all pretty neat,

Wide ones for swimming,

Thumbs good for gripping,

And best of all,
hairy ones for sticking.

Home, here we come.

- Hey, nick, look, dancing is so
much easier in dancing shoes.

♪ La-la-la-la-la ♪

- [Laughs]
uh-huh.

And my sneakers
are much easier to walk in.

♪ Da-ba-do-ba,
da-ba-do ♪

- Which means all you need...

- Are the right feet...

Both: for the right job.

- Exactly.

[Together]
hooray. Yeah.

- Hooray.

Yay.

- Hi, kids.
I have a great question for you.

It's about elephants
taking a shower.

[Laughs]
I know.

It's funny,
an elephant taking a shower,

But it's true, and they
don't even have bathrooms.

How does an elephant
take a shower, hmm?

With his trunk.

Yes, you got it this time,

But next time,
I'll stump you for su--ah!

Where did that come from?

- [Laughs]

Both: time to take a picture
with our snapper-rama cameras.

- I'll take the picture.

- And I'll guess what it is.

I see dirt and leaves.

It's a plant.

- Hmm, it looks like
a small bamboo plant.

It's so much tinier than
the other bamboo plants here.

- Bamboo is one
of the fastest growing plants.

In one day, it can grow
almost as tall as you, nick.

- Great photo.

[Laughter]

- "Flick the jigger-ma-whizzer,
sally."

- No, nick, the cat's more like,

"Flick the jigger-ma-whizzer!"

- Isn't this fun?

Both: yahoo.

- Zoom.
Zoom.

- ♪ Here we go-go-go-go
on adventure ♪

- Wow, nick,
you really sound like the cat.

- Uh, that wasn't me.

- ♪ The thinga-ma-jigger
is up and away ♪

- It's the cat.
- The cat in the hat.

- [Laughs]
that looks like fun.

- This is our pretend
thinga-ma-jigger.

- And nick's pretending
to be you.

- But you're hard to copy.

- I am?
But it's easy for me.

[Laughter]

- But pretending
to be other people is hard.

- Why don't we ask my friend,
mimi, for some tips?

- Who's mimi?

- Mimi's a mimic octopus,
who lives in muddy-wuddy sea.

- What does "mimic" mean?

- "Mimic: means
"to copy something or someone,"

And mimi's the best.

Want to meet her?
Both: yes.

- Then let's go.

Your mother will not mind at all
if you do.

- [Laughs]

- Mom, can we go visit mimi
the mimic octopus

So we can get better at copying?

- Mimi the mimic octopus?

Sure.
That should keep you octo-pied.

- [Laughs]
thanks, mom.

Both: we can go!
We can go!

- I know. I know.

To the thinga-ma-jigger.

- I'm a great mimic.
Who's this?

B-r-rig-a blah-blah-blah.

- I know. I know.

You're being thing one.

- No, that was thing two.

[Sighs]
I guess it needs more work.

[Laughter]

- Buckle up.
[Horn honks]

Flip the jigger-ma-whizzer.
- [Laughs]

- [Laughs]

[Horn honks]

[Instruments play]

[Pop]

- Isn't this fun?

- Yippee!
- Yahoo!

- ♪ Here we go, go, go,

♪ We're flying
with the cat in the hat today ♪

- ♪ We're on our way
to meet mimi the mimic ♪

♪ Copying others,
that is her gimmick ♪

All: ♪ here we go, go, go,
go on an adventure ♪

♪ Go, go, go, go, go ♪

♪ ♪

[Horn honks]

- Welcome to muddy-wuddy sea.

- Is mimi a giant octopus?

- No, no, not at all.

She's really quite small.

Press the shrinkamadoodle,
sally.

Mimi lives under water,
so pull the subbery-blubber too.

Both: yippee.
- Dive. Dive.

Here's mimi's front door.

Let's see if she's home.

Oh, mimi, it's me-me.

- [Laughs]

Both: whoa.
- Cat.

- And my friends,
nick and sally.

- Good to see you all.

Hi...
- Hi.

- Hi, and hi.

[Laughter]

- You can shake hands
with us all at the same time.

- And I still have two tentacles
to spare.

Both: wow.

- "Tentacles" means "arms,"
or is it "legs?"

- Who knows?
But I do have eight of them.

- Cat told us that you're good
at mimicking.

- I'm not good.

I'm fantastic.

I can change color.

- Cool.
- Whoa.

- I change shape too.
[Gasps]

Oh, careful, cat.
There.

- Ah! Oh, my.

It's steve the sea snake.

I certainly didn't see
him there.

- Steve's not very friendly.

- And poisonous too, which means
his bite can make you quite ill.

- Whoa.
Look, more snakes.

- Fooled you.

It's just my tentacles.
[Laughs]

- You did fool us.

We thought you were a sea snake.

- No, it was me.

Nobody mimics as well as mimi.

- Wow, can you show us
how you do it?

- Sure.
Let's mimic steve.

Step one:

Look hard.

- There's steve over there.

- Step two:

Pick something special
about steve to copy.

- He's long and thin.

- And wiggly too.

- Step three:
mimic.

- Whoa.

[Laughter]

- That's good wiggling, cat.

- I'm not trying
to be a sea snake.

There's something stuck
in my helmet,

And it's tickling my ear.

[Laughter]

Huh?

Take care, now.

- When you mimic steve,
you just used your tentacles.

- Oh, we could use our arms.

- All we need is somewhere
to hide our bodies.

- And I'll try to find you.

I just love hide-and-seek.

- We can hide here.

[Laughter]

- Here's a sea snake,
and here's another.

- Here come two more.

- Nick, sally, where are you?

- Careful, sea snakes.

- Ahh!

- No, it's just us.

- Where did those sea snakes go?

[Laughter]

- That's good.

Want to try another one?

Both: yes, please.

- Oh, I know,
let's mimic a lionfish.

- Here we are.

- [Laughs]

There's lenora, the lionfish.

- She's quite poisonous too.

- [Laughs]

- Look out.
Lenora's coming back.

- No, it's me, mimi.

[Laughter]

Now it's your turn to try.

Remember the three steps.

All: step one:

- We look hard.

All: step two:

- Pick something special
to copy.

- Well, she has lots
of bits that stick out.

- We can make fins
by wiggling our fin-gers.

- That's good.

All: step three:

- Mimic!

- I'm a lionfish.

- Me too.

- Ah!
I'm a lost fish.

[Laughter]

Mimi,
you look just like a lionfish.

- I do.

- There are three of you.

My, you're all so clever.

- We are,
and the best is yet to come.

Want to see me mimic
a zebra sole?

- Taking a role of a zebra sole.

What could possibly be more fun?

- Where do we find a zebra sole?

- You need to look down, not up.

- That fish is stripy
like a zebra.

Is it a zebra sole?

- It most certainly is.

Hi, zeezee.
- Hi there.

- It's good to meet zeezee,
but don't try to eat her.

Zebra soles
are ever-so poisonous.

- Are all the creatures
you imitate poisonous, mimi?

- They are.
- But why?

- We'll show you.

Cat, can you help?

- I most certainly can.

Meet the crab in the hat
on a walk around the reef.

Snap-snap.

Don't get in my way.

Snap-snap.

Who's this in my way?

- [Laughs]
it's just little mimi.

- Out of my way!
Snap-snap.

- [Laughs]

- Oh, no,
a poisonous zebra sole.

I'm out of here.

- I get it.

You imitate other creatures to
keep yourself safe from crabs.

- Not just crabs;
there are all sorts of fish

Who would like
to eat me for their dinner too.

- Your way of hiding is
pretending to be someone else.

- Someone scary that they
wouldn't like to meet or eat.

- My, you're so clever.

- I am, and nick
and sally are great mimics too.

Let's see your zebra sole.

- Okay, step one: we look.

- Step two: we pick something
special to copy.

- Zeezee's flat and swims right
down at the bottom of the sea.

- Step three:

All: mimic!

- We make our bodies flat.

- And swim near the bottom.

- Let's go!

- Hey, wait for us.

- We can't swim that fast.

- Want to swim quick?

Well, I know that you do.

Why not get help
from thing one and thing two?

[Whistles]

Both: hello.

- Do-do-do.
- Uh-huh.

Both: whee.

- Ooh, hey, no-no-no-no.

- Uh-oh.

Ahh!

- Why, thank you, things.

- Awesome, our own
underwater surfboards.

- With these,
we can swim as fast as mimi.

- [Laughs]

- Let's go.

Both:
yahoo! Whee!

- [Laughs]

Both: yahoo!

- Watch out, crab ahead.
- [Laughs]

- Uh-oh.

- [Laughs]

- You know what to do.

Both: mimic.

- Huh?
- I'm a poisonous sea snake.

- Whoa.

- I'm a poisonous lionfish.

- Ah!

- And I'm a poisonous
zebra sole.

- Uh, wow, oh.

- Good-bye, crabby.

[Together] yah, we did it.
We did it. Whoo-hoo!

- Good job.

- Bye, mimi.

Thanks for showing us
how to mimic.

- Good-bye.

- Good-bye.

- Mimi the octopus
can mimic a fish, a snake,

Or a flat sole,
whatever you wish.

When trouble comes calling,
mimi doesn't hide.

She changes her look
and glides off on the tide.

- Remember the three steps.

Number one: look.

- Excuse me,
are you looking at me?

- Number two:
pick something special to copy.

Hmm, I've got it.

- Me too.

- And number three:

Both: mimic.

[Laughter]

- Isn't this fun?

- My, you are so clever.

- Three cats in three hats;
nothing's more fun than that.

[Laughter]

- Welcome to hat chat.

Today we're reporting to you
live from...

Both: the moon.

- We're bouncing over to visit
with astronaut audrey.

She lives here.

- Oh, no, nick,
I couldn't live on the moon.

Astronauts like me
only travel here to explore.

- But why can't you live here?

- Well,
that's because the moon

Doesn't have all the important
things we need to live.

- Wow, there's nothing here.

- Just a lot of dirt.

- That's right.

The moon's surface
is mostly made of crushed rock.

Plants need air, water,
and soil,

And there's not enough here
for them to grow.

In fact, there's not even
any air for us to breathe.

- Huh?
- Don't worry, nick.

I brought everything
I need from home,

Including food and enough air
for me to breathe.

- Whew.

- Nick and sally signing off
from the moon.

- I have so many senses.

Did you know that?

And you have the same ones
as the cat in the hat.

There is, of course,
our sense of sight,

And to see with our eyes
can be such a delight.

Our sense of hearing
makes things clear

As ears hear sounds
both far and near.

Luckily, our sense of smell

Will tell us
when the smell is swell.

Can you guess which sense
I'm using now?

If you said touch...

[Laughs]
then take a bow.

My favorite is our sense
of taste,

When in your mouth
a treat is placed.

Our other senses
can tell us a lot,

If something's too cold
or if it's too hot!

They sense movement and balance
when we dance, slide, and sway.

Our senses help guide
how we play every day.

♪ Look at those stars
shining up in the sky ♪

♪ Trace all the patterns
and shapes with your eyes ♪

♪ Star constellations at night,
everywhere ♪

♪ Can you find the hunter,
the dog, or the bull up there ♪

♪ Stars are big spheres
of hot, glowing gases ♪

♪ Spread out in space
many trillion miles high ♪

♪ The sun is so bright ♪

♪ Stars seem like
they're hiding ♪

♪ But night, when it's dark,
they light up the sky ♪

♪ The big dipper shines
and orion's belt gleams ♪

♪ Everywhere,
it seems ♪

♪ Look at those stars
shining up in the sky ♪

♪ Trace all the patterns
and shapes with your eyes ♪

♪ Star constellations at night,
everywhere ♪

♪ Can you find the hunter,
the dog, ♪

♪ Or the bull way up there ♪

- Time to take a picture

Oh, a puzzle.

I see white fur and claws.

It's a paw.

Is it a polar bear paw?

- That's right, nick.

- Wow,
those claws look sharp.

- That's because they use
their sharp claws

And the pads on their feet
to help grip the ice

So they don't slip.

- Great photo.

[Music playing]
